• Can I use PayPal to charge a Credit Card automatically?

  If I have a Visa card number saved in my database, is there a way I can charge that Visa automatically through the PayPal API without the user having to enter anything? We want to keep this site as easy and hassle-free to use as possible. It would be a variable amount, based on how they use the site. (Don't worry, proper disclaimers will be in place, and the user will be notified) What about these "recurring payments"? That way I don't have to store the CC info on my website, but do they allow variable amounts that I could periodically send to PayPal?

  I have serious trouble finding anything useful in Mongo documentation about dealing with embedded documents. Let's say I have a following schema: { _id: ObjectId, ... data: [ { _childId: ObjectId // let's use custom name so we can distinguish them ... } ] } What's the most efficient way to remove everything inside data for particular _id? What's the most efficient way to remove embedded document with particular _childId inside given _id? What's the performance here, can _childId be indexed in order to achieve logarithmic (or similar) complexity instead of linear lookup? If so, how? What's the most efficient way to insert a lot of (let's say a 1000) documents into data for given _id? And like above, can we get O(n log n) or similar complexity with proper indexing? What's the most efficient way to get the count of documents inside data for given _id?

• Why does Windows 7 change encoding of characters in runtime?

  I have a delphi form: and my code: when I run this form in Windows 7, I see: In design time, form had polish letters in first label, but it doesn't have them in runtime. It looks ok on Vista or Windows XP. When I set caption of second label in code, everything works fine and characters are properly encoded. First 5 codes of top label on Windows 7: 65 97 69 101 83 First 5 codes of top label on Windows Vista/XP: 165 185 202 234 140 First 5 codes of bottom label on every system: 165 185 202 234 140 Windows 7 changes encoding, why? My system settings seem to be ok. I have proper language set for non-unicode applications in control panel.

Here's what I've got so far (PHP/STAT ... FTP/CURL): dev ino mode ... LIST * nlink uid ... LIST * gid ... LIST * rdev size ... SIZE (or better still, use from LIST) atime mtime ... MDTM ctime blksize blocks *How is FTP LIST used and parsed (preferably on a single file)? What I need most are the values for atime and ctime, there rest is to be filled for the sake of having full functionality.   I created a controller and a model. The controller is called "Admin" and the model is called "Album". I edited database.yml with proper info and did the rake db:migrate command which didn't return any errors and did migrate the db inside schema.rb. Inside the controller I wrote: class AdminController < ApplicationController scaffold :album end Next I started my server and went to http://localhost:3000/admin but instead of seeing the typical CRUD page I get the following error: app/controllers/admin_controller.rb:3 Request Parameters: None Show session dump --- flash: !map:ActionController::Flash::FlashHash {} Response Headers: {"cookie"=>[], "Cache-Control"=>"no-cache"} Any idea why?

• Opening IProject properties when another (adaptable to IProject) object is selected

  I have a custom view displaying a hierarchy model of the current project. The root element is of class MyProject which is my own class, but it represents one Eclipse IProject, and it's adaptable to IProject. I have a "properties" menu option in the popup menu for that view, and I'd like to open up IProject's properties when a MyProject object is selected. PropertyDialogAction only looks for property pages registered for MyProject and doesn't give me a chance to offer an adapter -- or, at least, I don't know how to offer one. What's the proper solution for this? In the meantime, I've overridden PropertyDialogAction to handle my class in the special way I require, but that seems like quite a kludge to get this done.

• Separating an Array into a comma seperated string with quotes

  I'm manually building an SQL query where I'm using an Array in the params hash for an SQL IN statement, like: ("WHERE my_field IN('blue','green','red')"). So I need to take the contents of the array and output them into a string where each element is single quoted and comma seperated (and with no ending comma). So if the array was: my_array = ['blue','green','red'] I'd need a string that looked like: "'blue','green','red'" I'm pretty new to Ruby/Rails but came up with something that worked: if !params[:colors].nil? @categories_array = params[:colors][:categories] @categories_string ="" for x in @categories_array @categories_string += "'" + x + "'," end @categories_string.chop! #remove the last comma end So, I'm good but curious as to what a proper and more consise way of doing this would look like? • HTTP POSTed files automatically uploaded to root directory

  I just inherited an ASP.NET WebForms web application that I was tasked with refactoring. One of the features is a file upload and while debugging I noticed that as soon as a file is posted to a certain page/handler, it is automatically uploaded to the root directory of the application. The file is then moved to the proper location. I can't seem to figure out whats causing this automatic upload of the file. Is there something I'am overlooking in ASP.NET WebForms that allows this to happen? Is it an IIS configuration or something?

  Hello, I have a simple file browser and there I display files and folders, obtained by (for directory) SHFILEINFO info = new SHFILEINFO(); SHGetFileInfo(filename, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_DIRECTORY, ref info,Marshal.SizeOf(info), SHGFI_ICON | SHGFI_USEFILEATTRIBUTES | SHGFI_SMALLICON | SHGFI_ADDOVERLAYS); It works 100% fine, but I have noticed an oddity - if I try to obtain an icon for directory, but specify FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL instead of FILE_ATTRIBUTE_DIRECTORY but it does weird stuff for directories - normal folders have "unknown file type white paper" icons, recycle bin has VLC icon, etc. Directories under SVN have proper overlay, but base file icon (white sheet of paper). I understand that base icon for directory would now be the one of unknown file, but why do some folders have totally strange icon? Config.MSI has installer icon, recycle bin has VLC icon (wtf?!), etc. What does the shell function do with this parameters? Exactly what icon does it obtain? Again, this is not a problem, I'm just curious.

• Android: Best way/library to write an app that simply gets/sets your Facebook status, sends Facebook

  I have the Android Facebook-Connect library running in my emulator and I'm able to set my status with the Facebook API I have setup. However, I don't know where to go from there? Am I supposed to use the session key that this library allows me to get and make some Facebook API calls? I haven't found any code examples to even see what the proper syntax is. Am I better off using another library? I tried fbrocket with limited luck(I get a "server error 104 - Incorrect signature"). Thanks for any help.

  I'm developing an application where I'm concerned about locking down access to the database. I know I can develop stored procedures (and with proper parameter checking) limit a database user to an exact set of queries to execute. It's imperative that no other queries other then the ones I created in the stored procedures be allowed to execute under that user. Ideally even if a hacker gained access to the database connection (which only accepts connections from certain computers) they would only be able to execute the predefined stored procedures. Must I choose stored procedures for this or can I use Dynamic Sql with these fine grain permissions?

  Hi, This might be weird, but stay with me. I want to get only the last element of a piped result to be assigned to a varaiable. I know how I would do this in "regular" code of course, but since this must be a one-liner. More specifically, I'm interested in getting the file extension when getting the result from an FTP request ListDirectoryDetails. Since this is done within a string expansion, I can't figure out the proper code. Currently I'm getting the last 3 hars, but that is real nasty.   A few questions on MS Access databases - Size: Are there limits to the size of an access database? The reason i ask is that we have an access database that has a few simple tables. The size of the db is about 1GB. When I do a query on it, i see it taking over 10 minutes to run. With proper indexing, should MS Access be able to handle this or are there fundamental limitations to the technology. This is MS Access XP. Also, does MS Access support db transactions, commit and rollback?

  Hi all, I can't really find good guidelines through google searches of the proper way to escape variables in URLs. Basically I am printing out a bunch of results from a mysql query in a table and I want one of the entries in each row to be a link to that result's page. I think this is easy, that I'm just missing a apostrophe or backslash somewhere, but I can't figure it out. Here's the line that's causing the error: echo "<a href = \"movies.php/?movie_id='$row['movie_id']'\"> Who Owns It? </a> "; and this is the error I'm getting: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING If you could elaborate in your answers about general guidelines for working with echo and variables in urls, that would be great. • How to implement "drag n drop" user interface on website?

  Hello, I was wondering what would be the best way to implement some kind of "drag n drop" user interface? What i mean is that there would be one main page and every link click (eg. other sections like about, gallery, contact form) would open a new drag n drop element on top of that main page. Something like windows desktop where you can move your application windows around the screen. Would it be best to call different functions with AJAX when a link is clicked? Like "gallery" link would call gallery-function and retrieve dynamically generated contents of that "window" with AJAX call and then just load that stuff on some div? Or would some other type of approach suit better for this? I hope I was able to explain this clearly enough. I'm looking for a proper "design pattern" to implement this. All suggestions are wellcome! :)

  I need to add one menu item in IE context menu. It is similar with Google customized context menu "Search Google for xxx" when you right click on IE. I did a research and found that overriding IDocHostUIHandler::ShowContextMenu in a IE BHO can customized IE context menu. The sample project can be found in Popup blocker project published in codeproject. It works well and is easy to implement. However this approach has a problem. The problem is it will conflict with other add-ons' context menu customization per MSDN. In MSDN Internet Explorer Center forum, there are some discussions about this topic. However there is not a proper implementation posted. If anybody has experience on this, please share your idea. Thanks!

  Hello SO; I have an issue with .Net reflection. The concept is fairly new to me and I'm exploring it with some test cases to see what works and what doesn't. I'm constructing an example wherein I populate a set of menus dynamically by scanning through my Types' attributes. Basically, I want to find every type in my main namespace that declares 'SomeAttribute' (doesn't matter what it is, it doesn't have any members at present). What I've done is: For Each itemtype As Type In Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetTypes If itemtype.IsDefined(Type.GetType("SomeAttribute"), False) Then 'do something with the type End If Next This crashes the application on startup - the first type it identifies is MyApplication which is fairly obviously not what I want. Is there a right and proper way to look for all the 'real' 'sensible' types - i.e. classes that I've defined - within the current assembly?

• How can I "slide up" a view on android from the bottom of a screen?

  I'm trying to make a really simple slide up list view, which is displayed when a user clicks on a button at the bottom of the screen. Here's how it should look: And a complete implementation in HTML/JS http://jsbin.com/utAQOVA/1/edit I've tried to use RelativeLayout to position the list just below the button, and put that whole thing into a wrapper and then animate that up/down (same as in the JSBin above). The problem is that the bottom part which isn't visible in the beginning is somehow clipped, even if I slide it up. Evern if I initially show a portion of the list as the screenshow below shows, the bottom part gets clipped when it moves up and only the part that was initially visible is displayed. What would be a proper approach to do this kind of animation? Here's a relevant portion of the layout
