  • "Access is denied" by executing .hta file with JScript on Windows XP x64

    I have a simple HTML (as HTA) application that shows strange behavior on Windows XP x64 machine. I getting periodically (not every time) error message "Access is denied." when i start the application. The same application on Windows XP 32bit runs just fine... Does somebody has any idea or explanation? Error message: Line: 18 Char: 6 Error: Access is denied.     I have a manifest file which is just a list of newline separated filenames. How can I remove all files that are not named in the manifest from a folder? I've tried to build a find ./ ! -name "filename" command dynamically: command="find ./ ! -name \"MANIFEST\" " for line in `cat MANIFEST`; do command=${command}"! -name \"${line}\" " done command=${command} -exec echo {} \; $command But the files remain. [Note:] I know this uses echo. I want to check what my command does before using it.

    Hi to all. Can anyone help me return the correct value from a bash script function? Here's my function that should return first (and only) line of the file passed as an argument: LOG_FILE_CREATION_TIME() { return_value=`awk 'NR==1' $1` return return_value } And here's my call of that function in the other script: LOG_FILE_CREATION_TIME "logfile" timestamp=$? echo "Timestamp = $timestamp" I always get some random values with this code. If, for example, there's a value of 62772031 in the "logfile", I get Timestamp = 255 as an output. For some other values in the file, I get other random values as a return value, never the correct one. Any ideas?

    I've been trying to compare the output of a program to known correct output by using a bash script without piping the output of the program to a file and then using diff on the output file and a correct output file. I've tried setting the variables to the output and correct output and I believe it's been successful but I can't get the string comparison to work correctly. I may be wrong about the variable setting so it could be that.     Been reading a lot into UI design lately and Fitts Law keeps popping up. Now from what i gather its basically the larger an item is, and the closer it is to your cursor, the easier it is to click on. So what about touch screen devices where the input comes from multiple touches or just single touches. What are the fundamentals to take into account considering this? Should it be something like, the hands of the user are on the sides of the device so the buttons should be close to the left and right hand sides of the device? Thanks

    I had to do a division in shell script and the best way was: result1=`echo "scale=3; ($var1 / $total) * 100"| bc -l` result2=`echo "scale=3; ($var2 / $total) * 100"| bc -l` but I want to compare the values of $result1 and $result2 Using if test $result1 -lt $result2 or if [ $result1 -gt $result2 ] didn't work :( Any idea how to do that?

In php, http://php.net/manual/en/function.ftp-fget.php this function allows arbitay starting point: bool ftp_fget ( resource $ftp_stream , resource $handle , string $remote_file , int $mode [, int $resumepos = 0 ] ) however it does not allow me to set "how many bytes" i want to download.

Where can I learn more about making flashy, superficially useful but deepdown useless fancy graphics UIs like that? It's almost in the realm of "hollywood special effects" -- like fire/smoke/fire, but I don't want natural phenomenon; I want user interfaces. Concrete question: where can I learn about creating flashy, cool looking (though not necessairly useful) user interfaces? [Perferably in OpenGL]

    Reading this blog post about HttpOnly cookies made me start thinking, is it possible for an HttpOnly cookie to be obtained through any form of XSS? Jeff mentions that it "raises the bar considerably" but makes it sound like it doesn't completely protect against XSS. Aside from the fact that not all browser support this feature properly, how could a hacker obtain a user's cookies if they are HttpOnly? I can't think of any way to make an HttpOnly cookie send itself to another site or be read by script, so it seems like this is a safe security feature, but I'm always amazed at how easily some people can work around many security layers. In the environment I work in, we use IE exclusively so other browsers aren't a concern. I'm looking specifically for other ways that this could become an issue that don't rely on browser specific flaws.

    I am developing a web application that collects data over multiple steps through a wizard. Steps are generally not interdependent, in that data input at each step has little or no effect on the consequent steps. However each step may have a set of validations which determine whether the user can progress to the next step by clicking 'continue' What should be the behavior when the user clicks previous? a Quickly move to the previous page, thus losing all the unsaved data in the form. Prompting the user with a warning is an option, but it can become irritating quite soon. b Move to the previous page saving all the data in the current step - without triggering validations, so that when the user comes back she sees the form in the same state that she left it in. c any other behaviour All opinions are welcome :)

    Ok, I've spend like half day on this and it's killing me. So I've got 3 view controllers transitioning from one another, something like this: I call the UploadDecisionViewController after destroying the previous View Controller: [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self performSelector:@selector(showUDModalView) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.5]; In my showUDModalView method: - (void)showUDModalView { UploadDecisionViewController *udcontroller = [[UploadDecisionViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"UploadDecisionViewController" bundle:nil]; udcontroller.delegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:udcontroller animated:YES]; [udcontroller release]; } The UploadDecisionViewController shows up no problem. The UploadDecisionViewController has a button, which when clicked I want it to transition to the FileUploadViewController.     I'd like to script p4 a little. Unfortunately, some of the filenames that we're tracking have "@" in the filename. The filenames are in the form [email protected]. If I try to do something like p4 sync a\@b.xml on a mac (or p4 sync [email protected] on windows) it gives the error: Invalid changelist/client/label/date '@b.xml' Is there another way to escape it that perforce will recognize?
