  We provide Email Marketing service through our online App. We have about 30 customers. And each one has it's own mailling list (5k to 20k emails each). What we really want is to distribute email's delivery between 2 or more servers. I was wondering What kind of aproach/solutions MailChimp , Constant Contact uses to provide a great service ? use many servers ? many IPs ? Our spam policy suspends ANY user/customer that gets 10% bounced .

• OpenDNS servers initial response is very slow

  I've got a Time Warner cable ISP package (RoadRunner), and the modem they gave me doesn't allow me to specify which DNS servers to use; it always uses whatever the upstream dhcp server gives it. I prefer to use OpenDNS on my home network, so i've configured a couple of my PCs manually in the Windows adapter settings for IPv4 such that their IP addresses are obtained via DHCP, but the DNS server settings are fixed to the OpenDNS server IPs. Now, when I startup Windows on these PCs, it always takes 2-3 minutes to start receiving responses from the DNS servers; any request before that times out. While not debilitating, this is quite annoying. Any ideas why this might be happening?

  I'm looking to implement a RESTful interface for a Django application. It is primarily a data-service application - the interface will be (at this point) read-only. The question is which Django toolsets / frameworks make the most sense for this task. I see Django-rest and Django-piston. There's also the option of rolling my own. The question was asked here, but a good two years back. I'd like to know what the current state of play is. In this question, circa 2008, the strong majority vote was to not use any framework at all - just create Django views that reply with e.g. JSON. (The question was also addressed, crica 2008, here.) In the current landscape, what makes the most sense?

• Name Servers changed over 48 hrs ago and site is still down

  Ok, I just recently changed Name Servers for my site (Oct. 29th): http://dream-portal.net but there is an issue, the name servers were changed from godaddy, however, the DNS is being hosted elsewhere. Godaddy states that the DNS is resolving the site to www.dream-portal.net and that is making it inaccessible from the DNS on the other host and that they can't do anything because I'm not hosting DNS with godaddy. I've contacted the other host and they say that everything is fine, however, people are not able to access the site and I can't access it from my work computer. I can only access it from my home computer. From my work computer it says that the page can not be found. What should I do? What can I do?   I have to query two different servers from a dynamically built query. It basically gets data from one server, treats it, and inserts it into another server. The only problem is I have to be sure it works for both situations: If both the source and destination databases are on the same server, and if they're not. I understand the concept of using Linked Servers in SQL Server, but I cannot think of a way to consider both alternatives, same server and different servers. A little help?

  I am facing a design problem, here is some basic requirement: Aggregator 1. Separate service for blog,video,images and associations. 2. Each of the service should be completely separate, that means they run on separate tomcat. 3. And each aggregator must be able to query local database and other aggregators 4. Traversal of services must be asynchronous using a ring network. For example, we have a ring like ws1-ws2-ws3-ws4-ws1. Each node represents one type of one aggregator. The traveral goes in this way: the query from ws1 to ws2, and ws1 is waiting for the response from ws2 asynchronously; ws2 to ws3, also ws2 wait for ws3 asynchronously. If ws3 has the data, reply to ws2 then to ws1, then reply. However if ws3 goes away, the traversal should go back to ws2, then to ws1, then go to ws4, then go to ws3 again. then tells ws4 since ws3 fails. The required technology is axis2 and tomcat 6. Does anybody have any clue about it? If it is clear, I can clarify the question more clearly. Thanks very much.

  I'm posting this on behalf of a co-worker. He gets a "The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel" error while using a WebRequest object to make an HTTPS request. Th funny thing is that this only happens after a while, and is temporarily fixed when the application is restarted, which suggests that something is being filled to capacity or something. Has anyone seen this kind of thing before?

• Embedding a CMS in an MVC Web App

  I'm working on a website for searching for businesses, then displaying a listing page. We've been toying with the idea of letting the clients manage their listing page using an external CMS. I'm not sure how often this is done, or if it's even best practice. Ideally, we want to be able to setup a listing on our website, then give the clients access to an external CRM when they can manage their listing page. We then want to embed this custom page within our website, possibly using an iframe (which will come along with it's own set of complications). We'd like this integration to be as seamless as possible. I'd personally prefer it if we could directly inject the HTML into our own page and bypass an iframe all together, but I don't know of any CMS hosting services that provide the interface for such a thing. We've experimented a little with Squarespace, and we can get a fairly clean version of someone's page which would be well suited for an iframe. I'm wondering if anyone else has looked and integrating an external hosting CMS into a website (in this case, we're using ASP.NET MVC). We'd also want to automate the creation of accounts on this external CMS, so when a user signed up we could just point them to the website with some login details. I have no idea if anyone offers a service like this, but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We could host a service ourself too, but the aim is to have an external system that clients can use to manage their pages. Cheers, James

When I try it on an LG renoir instead of the page fitting the width of the screen the page displays at least twice as wide as it should meaning you can scroll left and right. • Web/HTML: how do referrer work technically?

  I don't understand how comes webserver and trackers like Google Analytics are able to track referrals. Is it part of HTTP? Is it some (un)specified behavior of the browsers? Apparently everytime you click on a link on a webpage, the original webpage is passed along the request. What is the exact mechanism behind that? Is it specified by some spec? I've read a few docs and I've played with my own Tomcat server and my own Google Analytics account, but I don't understand how the "magic" happens. Bonus (totally related) question: if, on my own website (served by Tomcat), I put a link to another site, does the other site see my website as the "referrer" without me doing anything special in Tomcat?

• How do I configure IIS so my Web.config is determined by URL?

  I am running a test rig with IIS6 serving an ASP.NET (and Sharepoint) web site. We have several clients, and so we have custom root Web.config files for each client. For this test rig, I want to just serve straight from the Trunk of our source control. However, I'd like to be able to select different root Web.config files based on the URL (or port or whatever) I use to access the site, so I can just use one checkout of the source and run all the sites with their appropriate settings.   I have a system where employees can upload files. There are three ways Upload to my account in public, private or protected mode Upload to department account in public, private or protected mode Upload to organization account in public, private or protected mode where public is visible to anyone, private to the group or person only and protected to anyone in the organization. All the files for an organization are stored in a directory say, /files/<organizationId>/, on file server like files +-- 234809 | +img1.jpg | +doc1.pdf +-- 808234 | +doc2.pdf I am storing file-path and privacy level in DB. So, I can control whether to show link to a file URL to an user -- on a given page. The problem is, I do not have any control over file's URL... so, if some one types the URL to img1.jpg in his browser's address bar, there is no way to know whether a logged in user is eligible to see img1.jpg. • Posting data from multiple servers routing through one server to client server

  I have 5 webservers behind Load balancer and we have a client server at other end. Client has white listed my 5 webserver public ip so that my webservers will post a file to the client server. Here the problem is my webservers is going to increase and i cannot always ask client to make my new webserver ip's white list. So i would like to make my infra this way, my webservers will post data to the client server routing from a single server. Like assume that web-1 is main server and the remaining 4 web servers will post data to client server routing through main web-1. I was told that this can be achieved by doing IP Tunneling. But i have no idea how to do that. Would be great for any kind of help.

• MVC design question for forms

  Hi, I'm developing an app which has a large amount of related form data to be handled. I'm using a MVC structure and all of the related data is represented in my models, along with the handling of data validation from form submissions. I'm looking for some advice on a good way to approach laying out my controllers - basically I will have a huge form which will be broken down into manageable categories (similar to a credit card app) where the user progresses through each stage/category filling out the answers. All of these form categories are related to the main relation/object, but not to each other. Does it make more sense to have each subform/category as a method in the main controller class (which will make that one controller fairly massive), or would it be better to break each category into a subclass of the main controller? It may be just for neatness that the second approach is better, but I'm struggling to see much of a difference between either creating a new method for each category (which communicates with the model and outputs errors/success) or creating a new controller to handle the same functionality.   I've been testing native vhd boot on several servers. It seems to be pretty transparent in terms of deployment and with my seat of the pants testing I have not noticed any difference in performance. The main reason that I want to boot vhd is due to their transportablility between different hardware and to hyper-v servers. the following roles will be installed. dfsr dhcp iis application server dc <- haven't tested this yet but see no reason why it won't work. With the above low impact (in terms of performance) roles do you thing booting from VHD is appropriate. thx
