  I have a XML file that I want to load into an unknown object type. (I say unknown object type because I am not sure what direction to go) Once I have the data loaded I need to do some processing on certain elements that are now loaded into the new object. For sake of example, we can say that the xml file is full of elements named <car> and within the car element I need to process the <mileage> element. Then once this is all done I need to write the file as a CSV file. I would like to do this is the most direct way possible. (The less code the better) I am using VS 2008 C#

  Hi, not sure if this is the best forum or if there's someplace better...but I need to write a script/macro for Open Office. I am sending a letter to 4-6 different people (A,B,C,D). The format for, say, four people would be: Dear A, I'm writing to B,C, and D. Dear B, I am writing to A,C, and D. etc. Sometimes it may be 4. Sometimes 6. Sometimes 10. But it needs to cycle through all and do so listing the ones not in the "dear" header.

  I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to write this query. A hypothetical problem that is that same as the one I'm trying to solve: Say I have a table of apples. Each apple has numerous attributes, such as color_id, variety_id and the orchard_id they were picked from. The color_id, variety_id, and orchard_id all refer to their respective tables: colors, varieties, and orchards. Now, say I need to query for all apples that have color_id = '3', which refers to yellow in the colors table. I want to somehow obtain this yellow value from the query. Make sense?   Hello. In looking through samples I have seen a number of examples where it is possible to present data within a wpf applicaiton by binding to collections. However I was wondering is it possible to write to a collection from an applicaiton. Say for example i have 2 or more fields such as names and I wanted to have hte ability to add up to three names in my application ( all stored in memory). Will collections serve this purpose. In the past with asp.net I have done this by creating data tables and storing values on the fly or during the session. I am trying to learn WPF and I was wondering if collections work in the same fashion? If so could you please post an example or point me to references that show examples of this?   Hey, I have a php file (currently at / ) and I want this file to change the content of a file, "test.js". This file is in the dir "/libs/js/test.js". While I can read the content, for example with fread or file_get_contents, I can not write in it with file_put_contents or any other function. I always get the Warning Warning: rename() [function.rename]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/libs/js/test.js) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/web166/:/usr/bin/) in /var/www/web166/html/info.php on line 88 Does anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks in advance.

  I am using a file as a cache for big data. One thread writes to it sequentially, another thread reads it sequentially. Can I be sure that all data that has been written (by write()) in one thread can be read() from another thread, assuming a proper "happens-before" relationship in terms of the Java memory model? Is this behavior documented? EDIT: In my JDK, FileOutputSream does not override flush(), and OutputStream.flush() is empty. That's why I'm wondering... EDIT^2: The streams in question are owned exclusively by a class that I have full control of. Each stream is guaranteed to be accesses by one thread only. My tests show that it works as expected, but I'm still wondering if this is guaranteed and documented. However, since I live in Argentina I have a Latin American keyboard, that makes everything in Vim pretty slower (to write / to search, I must press Shift+7). Since I don't want to be changing Keyboard layouts all the time (and its pretty difficult to get used to pressing symbols as in an English keyboard), I was wondering if there was a vim plugin (of .vimrc file) that may be useful for international users.   From reading other Stackoverflow entries and the boost::asio documentation, I've confirmed that there is no synchronous asio read/write calls that also provide an easy-to-use timeout as a parameter to the call. I'm in the middle of converting an old-school linux socket app with select(2) calls that employs timeouts, and I need to do more-or-less the same. So what is the best way to do this in boost::asio? Looking at the asio documentation, there are many confusing examples of various things to do with timers, but I'm quite confused. I'd love to see a simple-to-read example of this: Read from a socket, but wait for a maximum of X seconds after which the function either returns with nothing, or returns with whatever it was able to read from the socket before the timeout expired.

  Hi all, long-time lurker here, finally emerging from the woodwork. Essentially, what I'm trying to do is have my logger write data like this to the logfile: Connecting to database . . . Done. I'd like the 'Connecting to database . . . ' to be written when the function is called, and the 'Done' written after the function has successfully executed. I'm using Python 2.6 and the logging module. Also, I'd really like to avoid using decorators for this. Any help would be most appreciated!

There is some general good advice to make paper contracts before starting new jobs. When I started my work as a freelancer I hadn't got any clue how such contract should looks like.   From what I read about Java NIO and non-blocking [Server]SocketChannels, it should be possible to write a TCP server that sustains several connections using only one thread - I'd make a Selector that waits for all relevant channels in the server's loop. Is that right, or am I missing some important detail? What problems can I encounter? (Background: The TCP communication would be for a small multiplayer game, so max. 10-20 simultaneous connections. Messages will be sent about every few seconds.)

  My program should write hundreds of files to disk, received by external resources (network) each file is a simple document that I'm currently store it with the name of GUID in a specific folder but creating hundred files, writing, closing is a lengthy process. Is there any better way to store these amount of files to disk? I've come to a solution, but I don't know if it is the best. First, I create 2 files, one of them is like allocation table and the second one is a huge file storing all the content of my documents. But reading from this file would be a nightmare; maybe a memory-mapped file technique could help. Could working with 30GB or more create a problem?

• How to handle this "session failed to write file" error in PHP?

  I am using the Kohana 3 framework, and am using the native session driver. For some reason, occasionally the sessions fail to write to their file. Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_*****, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/site/public_html/system/classes/kohana/session/native.php on line 27 I am pretty sure Kohana has its own in built error handler, but it is not triggered with this error (i.e. it shows up like a normal PHP error, not the Kohana error). Anyone that has ever used Kohana will notice this seems to have bypassed Kohana's error handling (perhaps set with set_error_handler()). Is there anyway to stop this error from appearing without switching from the native session (i.e. file based) driver? Should I just give good practice the boot and append an @ error suppressor to session_start() in the core code of Kohana? Should I relax the error_reporting()? Thanks

  Let's say I have a (fairly typical) set of environments: PROD, UAT, QA, DEV. Is it a good idea to run your tests across all environments? Here's what I'm thinking of. I have a proc in SQL that my code depends on, I'll call it proc_getActiveCustomers. If that proc isn't present my app will go south real fast. So I write a test that checks for the existence of this proc in the database. Nothing new here. But when I then deploy my app to the QA environment, would I also want to have a test that checks that environment for the existence of proc_getActiveCustomers? I think this is a good idea but I've never heard much about testing in environments outside of development. Makes me wonder if there's some downside I'm not aware of. The direction that I'm going is to have a list of environments in code and then passing that environment into my unit test.

I was wondering if it is possible to write in a dropdownlist or listbox such that if somebody does not want to select from the dropdownlist or listbox, he/she can type the value and if the value exist in the dropdownlist/listbox, it autofills. The person may then select it. If this is not possible in ASP.NET, would anybody know of another control that can be used for the same purpose and how? what I really need is how to allow the writting on the DropDownList, please someone help me!.
