    Is there a way to read a large text file (~60MB) into memory at once (like a compiler flag to increase program memory limit) ?     First off, I'm a complete beginner. This might be a stupid question, but here it goes: I'm currently working on an App than contains Latin texts that the users can view and read. I'm using Xcode 4 with the storybord function. Theway the app is built: user selects author - then the book - then app shows the text. I am kind of confused because i need to have various text files, depending on the users choice.

    Hi, I'm a bit new to MATLAB. Basically, I have a 25x25 Matrix, complete with various random entries ranging from 0 to 3. I need to write a program that reads this matrix, and assigns x-y coordinates to the entries, so that when I ask for an input of a particular x-y coordinate which has, say an entry of 3, then it will result in an error. I'm a bit overwhelmed - but I understand the general concept of what I'm supposed to be finding. I'm wondering if I should use a plot instead to help me.

    Hi, I'm using MS log application block for logging my application event into a file called app-trace.log which located on the c:\temp folder. I'm trying to find the best way to read this file at runtime and display it when the user asks for it. now i have 2 issues: it seems that this kind of feature is not supported by the framework, hence i have to write this reader myself. am i missing something here? is there any better way of getting this data (w/o buffering it in the memory or saving it into another file). if i'm taking the only alternative that left for me, and implementing the reader myself, when i'm tring to do: System.IO.FileStream fs = new System.IO.FileStream(@"c:\temp\app-trace.log", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); i'm getting "File being used by another process c#", probably the file is locked by the application block. is there any way to access and read it anyhow?     The language shortcut public string Code { get; set; } saves a bit of typing when defining trivial properties in C#. However, I find myself writing highly repetitive, not-quite-as-trivial property code that still follows a clear pattern e.g. public string Code { get { return code; } set { if (code != value) { code = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("Code"); } } } I can certainly define a Visual Studio snippet to reduce typing. However, if I need to add something to my pattern, I have to go back and change quite a bit of existing code. Is there a more elegant approach? Is a snippet the best way to go?

    I would like to know how can I read a file byte by byte then perform some operation every n bytes. for example: Say I have a file of size = 50 bytes, I want to divide it into blocks each of n bytes. Then each block is sent to a function for some operations to be done on those bytes. The blocks are to be created during the read process and sent to the function when the block reaches n bytes so that I don`t use much memory for storing all blocks. I want the output of the function to be written/appended on a new file. This is what I've reached to read, yet I don't know it it is right: fc = new JFileChooser(); File f = fc.getSelectedFile(); FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(f); byte[] b = new byte[16]; in.read(b); I haven't done anything yet for the write process.

    Hi, I have a webservice, in which I read the settings saved in an xml file. I read the setting by the following command: string dpath = HttpContext.Current.Request.PhysicalApplicationPath.ToString(); XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(dpath + "Settings.xml"); This is working perfectly when running the application on the localhost, but when I publish the webserver I am getting an error, most probably because the settings are not being loaded. Am I using the right command to read the file ? thanks

    Hi all I have a .net class library 2.0 with an app.config with a connectionString section. I have 01 Method that this class library exposes " string GetConnectionString(string name) However even though the app.config in this class library has 3 connstrings it does not read this config.exe.How can I make it read the app.config that resides withing this dll? Again, Usually you will have a web or windows app with a config and it will all work. Mine is a special case I need to read the connectionstring within this class library.     I'm a non-specialist with JavaScript / JQuery and I'm having trouble figuring out why my script doesn't work. When my C# page loads, I have a hidden textBox txtHiddenKeywordArray which gets dynamically filled with comma separated values like... horse, buggy, track I'm trying to use the highlight functionality in jquery.highlight-3.js where I have a label text field that will contain and highlight the words in the keywords list. I'm using the script <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var myString = document.getElementById('<%=txtHiddenKeywordArray.ClientID%>').val() myArray = myString.split(" "); $(document).ready(function () { for (i = 0; i < myArray.length; i++) $("p").highlight(myArray[i]) }); </script> Here is the textBox declaration : <asp:TextBox ID="txtHiddenKeywordArray" ClientIDMode="Static" runat="server" Visible="false"></asp:TextBox> It worked great when I hard coded the values of var myString. I've tried researching it and keep seeing the same example of the way I have it done. The page does use a MasterPage. Could this affect it? Any idea how I can get the script to see the values from the textbox? Do I need a RegisterStartUpScript or something? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    I am trying to do a simple read of an Avro file stored in HDFS. I found out how to read it when it is on the local file system.... FileReader reader = DataFileReader.openReader(new File(filename), new GenericDatumReader()); for (GenericRecord datum : fileReader) { String value = datum.get(1).toString(); System.out.println("value = " value); } reader.close(); My file is in HDFS, however. I cannot give the openReader a Path or an FSDataInputStream. How can I simply read an Avro file in HDFS? EDIT: I got this to work by creating a custom class (SeekableHadoopInput) that implements SeekableInput. I "stole" this from "Ganglion" on github. Still, seems like there would be a Hadoop/Avro integration path for this. Thanks

    I want to read following file in C++. 000001011100110 100000010101100 001001001001100 110110000000011 000000010110011 011000110101110 111010011011110 011001010010000 I know already how many rows and columns is there in the file. I want to read each integer and store it in a 2-D matrix of ints. Each integers here means 0 is one entry and 1 is another entry. So in this example above there are 15 0's and 1s.
