  • Postback event not firing on FIRST button click..

    Hi, I have a form which accepts two arguments. The first one is mode - this is either view, new or edit. If it is new then the second argument is type - this is either range, collection or design. When set to new, and the type is valid, a new instance of that type is created and the data from the form is added to it. The item (range, collection or design) then validates the data. If any of the data is invalid then it throws an error, and this error is displayed at the top of the form telling the user why it is invalid. A variable, _Databind, is set to false so that it does not change the data input by the user (in the form fields). The button used to submit the button is called btnSave, and is created in the html source. The click event is wired up in the form Protected Sub Blah(sender, e) Handles btnSave.Click. Strangely, whenever I edit an item that already exists the form submits fine the first time - the click event is fired. However when in "new" mode I have to click the button twice to fire the event. It also blanks all the form fields out on first click. I have even put a Response.Write("Hello World") line at the start of the click event - this is not being output on first click when adding a new item either. It is on first load when the mode is set to edit however. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing it to behave this way? Thanks in advance for any help. Regards, Richard

    I have a fancybox popup with a form inside it. When the form is posted it all works fine BUT after it is posted it redirects to the view and shows it on a full page. What i want is for the popup for to be posted and the fancy box to be closed.   • cannot load windows media within firefox browser

    Hi all, I recently re-installed windows and everything on it and besides this one issue everything is working much smoother again... the only problem is that I cannot load windows media content (for example *.asx) within my firefox browser. If i go to a page which embeds such streaming media, the media player never loads, and if i type the full url to the asx in the address bar, nothing loads. I have "Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library 3.0.2.629" in my plugin list. what might i have broken? cheers, p.

  • Sticky Footer Dilemma - so close

    I have an effective sticky footer solution, but I have a slight conflict because of the need for a background image in addition to the repeating banner image across the top. In order to make the large watermark type image show up on this site I added the following div: <div id="body-outer"> The only problem is that once I add this div tag, the footer climbs up the page, overriding all content in its path. If I remove that div, the footer is as sticky as one could hope. Is there some way to have the background image and the sticky footer too?   • Is this asking too much of a browser?

    I'm embedding a large array in <script> tags in my HTML, like this (nothing surprising): <script> var largeArray = [/* lots of stuff in here */]; </script> In this particular example, the array has 210,000 elements. That's well below the theoretical maximum of 231 - by 4 orders of magnitude. Here's the fun part: if I save JS source for the array to a file, that file is 44 megabytes (46,573,399 bytes, to be exact). If you want to see for yourself, you can download it from my Dropbox. (All the data in there is canned, so much of it is repeated. This will not be the case in production.) Now, I'm really not concerned about serving that much data. My server gzips its responses, so it really doesn't take all that long to get the data over the wire. However, there is a really nasty tendency for the page, once loaded, to crash the browser. I'm not testing at all in IE (this is an internal tool). My primary targets are Chrome 8 and Firefox 3.6. In Firefox, I can see a reasonably useful error in the console: Error: script stack space quota is exhausted In Chrome, I simply get the sad-tab page: Cut to the chase, already Is this really too much data for our modern, "high-performance" browsers to handle? Is there anything I can do* to gracefully handle this much data? Incidentally, I was able to get this to work (read: not crash the tab) on-and-off in Chrome. I really thought that Chrome, at least, was made of tougher stuff, but apparently I was wrong... Edit 1 @Crayon: I wasn't looking to justify why I'd like to dump this much data into the browser at once. Short version: either I solve this one (admittedly not-that-easy) problem, or I have to solve a whole slew of other problems. I'm opting for the simpler approach for now. @various: right now, I'm not especially looking for ways to actually reduce the number of elements in the array.     I'm working on a web application where I'm trying to capture when the user rotates the screen. Fundamentally, I want to know if the user is browsing in portrait mode or landscape mode. The iPhone/iPad and Android browsers send a resize event when the screen orientation changes. Unfortunately, the browser in webOS doesn't seem to send that notification. Any advice on how to detect in the browser any changes in orientation on Palm webOS? Thanks.

  • Getting HAPROXY to redirect http to https in users browser session

    We are currently using a Internet cloud provider to host our SaaS platform. The platform consists of a Firewall - Cloud Provider SLB - - Apache Web Server - HAPROXY SLB - Liferay Platform We have had to use HAPROXY because of an issue with the cloud providers SLB that meant we were unable to use it for load balancing the Liferay platform applications. I have implemented HAPROXY in our secure tier and that seems to do the trick of load balancing the requests quite adequately. However during testing we encountered a functional issue whereby selecting a sub-menu from the web portal resulted in the application hanging, using an http analyser we saw that the request being passed back to the users browser was in http, from discussing this with the software vendor it transpires that the Liferay application has some hard-coded http links, and that other customers have worked around this by using physical NLB's such as F5 and redirecting the http traffic to https.   • Override tooltip text for Titlebar buttons (Close, Maximize, Minimize, Help)

    I have been trying without luck to change the text of the tooltip that appears for the buttons on the main title bar of a form. In a nutshell, we have harnessed the 'Help' button for Windows Forms to have some other purpose. This is working fine. The issue is that when hovering the mouse over that button, a 'Help' tooltip appears, which doesn't make any sense for the application. Ideally, there would be some way to change the text of that tooltip for my application; however, at this point I would be satisfied just finding a way to disable the tooltips altogether. I know that you can disable the tooltips for the entire OS by modifying the 'UserPreferencesMask' key in regedit, but I would really like a way to have this only affect my application. Again, ideally there would be some way to do this with managed code, but I would not be opposed to linking into the Windows API or the like. Thanks for any suggestions for resolving this issue!

  • Flash movie randomly freeze the browser

    Just recently it seems that my flash player have had some troubles to display flash videos (youtube/dailymotions and others like this). This issue was supposed to be fixed with Flash Player 10 beta if I remember correctly. My flash player is currently at the lastest version available (10.0.45.2) I'm currently on Windows 7 x64. I tried to uninstall it and reboot and reinstall it, didn't work. Sometimes when it freeze and I reboot it "fixes" temporary the problem. The freeze problem is each and every browser. If one fails and freeze, every browsers using the plugin or ActiveX (Opera 10.5/Chrome 5/Safari 4/IE 8/FF 3.7 all installed) will freeze upon playing. I'm quite out of inspirations for fixing this up now I dare say.

  • Listening and firing events with Javascript and maybe jQuery

    In my Javascript and Flex applications, users often perform actions that I want other Javascript code on the page to listen for. For example, if someone adds a friend. I want my Javascript app to then call something like triggerEvent("addedFriend", name);. Then any other code that was listening for the "addedFriend" event will get called along with the name. Is there a built-in Javascript mechanism for handling events? I'm ok with using jQuery for this too and I know jQuery makes extensive use of events. But with jQuery, it seems that its event mechanism is all based around elements. As I understand, you have to tie a custom event to an element. I guess I can do that to a dummy element, but my need has nothing to do with DOM elements on a webpage. Should I just implement this event mechanism myself?

    I am using Django and Postgresql as my DBMS. I wish to set a setting that enables to enable/disable database connection. When the connection is set to closed (in settings.py) the site will display a message such as "meintanence mode" or something like that. Django will not show any db connection error message (or mail them to admins). It is appreciated if django do not try to connect to the database at all.

  • Lotus Notes wants to open some emails with web browser, rather than within Notes itself

    I have a problem with Lotus notes 8.5.1 wanting to open certain emails in my web browser, rather than within Notes itself. The emails that do this, seem to have some html in the note (Not just a link, but the note itself) This is a recent upgrade from 8.0.2 which had a similar problem, but it showed all of the html formatting characters in the notes, rendering it almost unreadable. I was hoping a fresh install of Notes would fix it, but it did not. I am using the same version of Notes & Win XP at work, and I do not have the problem. I am guessing that it is a setting on my home computer and not Notes, but I have no idea what it would be.

  • C# trying to capture the KeyDown event on a form

    Hello! I am creating a small game, the game is printed onto a panel on a windows form. Now i want to capture the keydown event to see if its the arrow keys that has been pressed, the problem however is that i can't seem to capture it. Let me explain, on the form i have 4 buttons and various other controls and if the user for instance press one of the buttons (to trigger a game event) then the button has focus and i can't capture the movements with the arrow keys. I have setup a breakpoint inside the function to see if it's being called, but that breakpoint never triggers? Any ideas? The most optimal was to have a general KeyDown event that triggers (regardless of what control that currently has focus) and then calls the KeyDown method.

  • PHP: Symlink in public_html cannot be accessed through browser

    I have tester.php file which I want to run on the browser and I have created symlink to it in my public_html folder, but still when I try to run it, its not working and gives me following error message. Access forbidden! You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error 403 web.upc03.dev.com Sun Apr 4 22:41:23 2010 Apache I am not sure as to why am I getting this error message, I have check all file permissions settings and it seems to be fine. My File permissions settings are: lrwxrwxrwx for tester.php Is there something that should be done other way or is this not the proper approach ?
