  • nested form & habtm

    - by brewster
so i am trying to save to a join table in a habtm relationship, but i am having problems. from my view, i pass in a group id with: = link_to "Create New User", new_user_url(:group => 1) User model (user.rb) class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :user_groups accepts_nested_attributes_for :user_groups end UserGroups model (user_groups.rb) class UserGroup < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :users end users_controller.rb def new @user = User.new(:user_group_ids => params[:group]) end in the new user view, i have access to the User.user_groups object, however when i submit the form, not only does it not save into my join table (user_groups_users), but the object is no longer there. all the other objects & attributes of my User object are persistent except for the user group. i just started learning rails, so maybe i am missing something conceptually here, but i have been really struggling with this.

  • How to set icon to title bar for each Activity in Tablelayout in android

    - by Venu Gopal
In my tablayout example, i have created 3 tabs, as usually i set 3 activities for each tab. I can set image to title bar of activity, which adds the intent to each tab. Due to this, the image in the title bar is visible in all 3 tabs. My requirement is to set a different image to title bar for each activity. I followed this to set image to title bar. But when i am going to do the same thing to each activity, getting android.util.AndroidRuntimeException: You cannot combine custom titles with other title features this error and application is terminated. manifest.xml <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.aptitsolution.tablayout" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/MyTheme"> <activity android:name=".TabLayoutDemo" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="AlbumsActivity"></activity> <activity android:name="ArtistsActivity"></activity> <activity android:name="SongsActivity"></activity> TabLayoutDemo.java public class TabLayoutDemo extends TabActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE); setContentView(R.layout.main); getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE, R.layout.my_title); Resources res = getResources(); // Resource object to get Drawables TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); // The activity TabHost TabHost.TabSpec spec; // Resusable TabSpec for each tab Intent intent; // Reusable Intent for each tab // Create an Intent to launch an Activity for the tab (to be reused) intent = new Intent().setClass(this, ArtistsActivity.class); // Initialize a TabSpec for each tab and add it to the TabHost spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("artists").setIndicator("Artists", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_artists)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); .... .... • WPF Composite - Expose EF model to all modules

    - by Tony
Hi All, I have an application that uses WPF Composite, and I have an issue. I've got a big database that is attached to the application and I need it exposed to different modules as part of the application. What is the best way to expose my Entity Framework model to all my different modules and views inside them? Do I have one EF model or a separate one for each module and then only the tables that each module needs. The only problem being that some tables have a relationship and will have different views and those views will be in different modules. Any ideas how to resolve this?

  • Facelet selectOneMenu with POJOs and converter problem

    - by c0d3x
Hi, I want to have a facelet page with a formular and a dropdown menu. With the dropdown menu the user shoul select a POJO of the type Lieferant: public class Lieferant extends AbstractPersistentWarenwirtschaftsObject { private String firma; public Lieferant(WarenwirtschaftDatabaseLayer database, String firma) { this(database, null, firma); } public Lieferant(WarenwirtschaftDatabaseLayer database, Long primaryKey, String firma) { super(database, primaryKey); this.firma = firma; } public String getFirma() { return firma; } @Override public String toString() { return getFirma(); } @Override public int hashCode() { final int prime = 31; int result = 1; result = prime * result + ((firma == null) ? 0 : firma.hashCode()); return result; } @Override public boolean equals(Object obj) { if (this == obj) return true; if (obj == null) return false; if (getClass() != obj.getClass()) return false; Lieferant other = (Lieferant) obj; if (firma == null) { if (other.firma != null) return false; } else if (!firma.equals(other.firma)) return false; return true; } } Here is the facelet code that I wrote: <h:selectOneMenu> tag. This tag should display a list of POJOs (not beans) of the type Lieferant. Here is the facelet code: <h:selectOneMenu id="lieferant" value="#{lieferantenBestellungBackingBean.lieferant}"> <f:selectItems var="lieferant" value="#{lieferantenBackingBean.lieferanten}" itemLabel="#{lieferant.firma}" itemValue="#{lieferant.primaryKey}" /> <f:converter converterId="LieferantConverter" /> </h:selectOneMenu> Here is the refenrenced managed backing bean @ManagedBean @RequestScoped public class LieferantenBackingBean extends AbstractWarenwirtschaftsBackingBean { private List<Lieferant> lieferanten; public List<Lieferant> getLieferanten() { if (lieferanten == null) { lieferanten = getApplication().getLieferanten(); } return lieferanten; } } As far as I know, I need a custom converter, to swap beetween POJO and String representations of the Lieferant objects. Here is what the converter looks like: @FacesConverter(value="LieferantConverter") public class LieferantConverter implements Converter { @Override public Object getAsObject(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, String value) { long primaryKey = Long.parseLong(value); WarenwirtschaftApplicationLayer application = WarenwirtschaftApplication.getInstance(); Lieferant lieferant = application.getLieferant(primaryKey); return lieferant; } @Override public String getAsString(FacesContext context, UIComponent component, Object value) { return value.toString(); } } The page loads without any error. When I fill out the formular and submit it, there is an error message displayed on the page: Bestellung:lieferantenBestellungForm:lieferant: Validierungsfehler: Wert ist keine gültige Auswahl translated: validation error: value is not a valid selection Unfortunaltely it does not say which value it is talking about. The converter seems to work correctly. I found this similar question from stackoverflow and this article about selectOneMenu and converters, but I was not able to find the problem in my code. Why is List<SelectItem> used in the example from the second link. Gives the same error for me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Issue getting camera emulation to work with Tom G's HttpCamera

    - by user591524
    I am trying to use the android emulator to preview video from webcam. I have used the tom gibara sample code, minus the webbroadcaster (i am instead using VLC streaming via http). So, I have modified the SDK's "CameraPreview" app to use the HttpCamera, but the stream never appears. Debugging through doesn't give me any clues either. I wonder if anything obvious is clear to others? The preview app launches and remains black. Notes: 1) I have updated the original CameraPreview class as described here: http://www.inter-fuser.com/2009/09/live-camera-preview-in-android-emulator.html, but referencing httpCamera instead of socketcamera. 2) I updated Tom's original example to reference "Camera" type instead of deprecated "CameraDevice" type. 3) Below is my CameraPreview.java. 4) THANK YOU package com.example.android.apis.graphics; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Context; import android.hardware.Camera; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.SurfaceHolder; import android.view.SurfaceView; import android.view.Window; import java.io.IOException; import android.graphics.Canvas; // ---------------------------------------------------------------------- public class CameraPreview extends Activity { private Preview mPreview; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); // Hide the window title. requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); // Create our Preview view and set it as the content of our activity. mPreview = new Preview(this); setContentView(mPreview); } } // ---------------------------------------------------------------------- class Preview extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback { SurfaceHolder mHolder; //Camera mCamera; HttpCamera mCamera;//changed Preview(Context context) { super(context); // Install a SurfaceHolder.Callback so we get notified when the // underlying surface is created and destroyed. mHolder = getHolder(); mHolder.addCallback(this); //mHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); mHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_NORMAL);//changed } public void surfaceCreated(SurfaceHolder holder) { // The Surface has been created, acquire the camera and tell it where // to draw. //mCamera = Camera.open(); this.StartCameraPreview(holder); } public void surfaceDestroyed(SurfaceHolder holder) { // Surface will be destroyed when we return, so stop the preview. // Because the CameraDevice object is not a shared resource, it's very // important to release it when the activity is paused. //mCamera.stopPreview();//changed mCamera = null; } public void surfaceChanged(SurfaceHolder holder, int format, int w, int h) { // Now that the size is known, set up the camera parameters and begin // the preview. //Camera.Parameters parameters = mCamera.getParameters(); //parameters.setPreviewSize(w, h); //mCamera.setParameters(parameters); //mCamera.startPreview(); this.StartCameraPreview(holder); } private void StartCameraPreview(SurfaceHolder sh) { mCamera = new HttpCamera("10.213.74.247:443", 640, 480, true);//changed try { //mCamera.setPreviewDisplay(holder); Canvas c = sh.lockCanvas(null); mCamera.capture(c); sh.unlockCanvasAndPost(c); } catch (Exception exception) { //mCamera.release(); mCamera = null; // TODO: add more exception handling logic here } } }

  • Get group key from bridge table

    - by Mads Jensen
I'm developing an ETL process, and need a bridge table for a one-to-many relationship between a fact table and a dimension table (MySQL database). There is a limited number of combinations (some thousands), so I want to re-use group keys from the bridge table to to limit the size. Any group of dimensions belonging to a fact row will consist of a number of dimension keys (1 to around 15), assigned to a unique group key, as below: group_key | dimension_key ----------------------- 1 | 1 1 | 3 1 | 4 2 | 1 2 | 2 2 | 3 3 | 1 3 | 4 How do I go about retrieving the unique group key for the dimensions 1,3,4 (ie. 1).

  • Weird problem cucumber behaving differently when run with the debugger

    - by James
When I run a cucumber test it executes the code thinking that a collection obtained inside of a controller via a has_many relationship on a model is empty when it isn't. I ran this same test but with the debugger turned and a breakpoint before the collection is used. When I print collection in the debugger at this breakpoint the collection is as it should be (not empty). Then I continue and the test executes as it should. With no debugger and breakpoints though, the test exectues as though the collection is empty. Has anyone had a problem like this/what did you do to fix it?

  • Rails - How do i update a records value in a join model ?

    - by ChrisWesAllen
I have a join model in a HABTM relationship with a through association (details below). I 'm trying to find a record....find the value of that records attribute...change the value and update the record but am having a hard time doing it. The model setup is this User.rb has_many :choices has_many :interests, :through => :choices Interest.rb has_many :choices has_many :users, :through => :choices Choice.rb belongs_to :user belongs_to :interest and Choice has the user_id, interest_id, score as fields. And I find the ?object? like so @choice = Choice.where(:user_id => @user.id, :interest_id => interest.id) So the model Choice has an attribute called :score. How do I find the value of the score column....and +1/-1 it and then resave? I tried @choice.score = @choice.score + 1 @choice.update_attributes(params[:choice]) flash[:notice] = "Successfully updated choices value." but I get "undefined method score"......What did i miss?

  • Trouble with client side validation using Struts 2. Xml based validation rules not recognized.

    - by Kartik
Hi, This is my first post to ask a question on stack overflow and my issue is that when I don't see a client side validation error message when I don't enter any values for that field even when it is configured as required. The input page is reloaded but no error message is seen. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In here, when the JDialog is called, it just opens as a 100% blank window. I have added a JLabel, but it is not there when it is displaying. Anyway, it takes sometime to send the email, after the email is sent, I can see the JLabel in the JDialog. If I take my issue into one sentence, I am calling the JDialog before the email is sent, but it appears blank, after the email is sent, it's content are there! Why is this? Please help!

  • Help needed with Flash AS2 to AS3 conversion, having major problems...

    - by Mat
Hi all, I have a project i need to update form AS2 to AS3 as i need some of the new functions available for vertical centering of text. My current AS2 code on the time line is as follows. var dataField = _root.dataField; var dataType = _root.dataType; var dataPage = _root.dataPage; var dataVar = _root.dataVar; _root.mc.onRelease = function() { getURL("index.php?page="+dataPage+"&num="+dataNum+"&"+dataType+"="+dataVar, "_self"); }; And my external AS file is as follows. import mx.transitions.Tween; /** * * StandardKey is attached to a movieclip in the library. * It handles the basic button behavior of the keyboard keys. * When each button is placed on the stage, it's instance name * will be the unique ID of the key. * */ class StandardKey extends MovieClip { /////////////////////////////////////// //Stage Elements var highlight:MovieClip; //End Stage Elements var highlightTween:Tween; function StandardKey(Void) { //Repaint the key with 0 alpha highlight._alpha = 0; } function onPress(Void):Void { //Do the highlight animation highlightTween.stop(); highlightTween = new Tween(highlight, "_alpha", mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeInOut, 100, 0, 10, false); } } Here is my attempt at moving timeline and external AS2 to AS3 Timeline i now have : var dataField = this.dataField; var dataType = this.dataType; var dataPage = this.dataPage; var dataVar = this.dataVar; var dataNum = this.dataNum; _root.mc.onRelease = function() { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("index.php?page="+dataPage+"&num="+dataNum+"&"+dataType+"="+dataVar, "_self")); }; External AS3 i have package { import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; import flash.display.MovieClip; /** * * StandardKey is attached to a movieclip in the library. * It handles the basic button behavior of the keyboard keys. * When each button is placed on the stage, it's instance name * will be the unique ID of the key. * */ public class StandardKey extends MovieClip { /////////////////////////////////////// //Stage Elements var highlight:MovieClip; //End Stage Elements var highlightTween:Tween; public function StandardKey(Void) { //Repaint the key with 0 alpha highlight._alpha = 0; } public function onPress(Void):void { //Do the highlight animation highlightTween.stop(); highlightTween = new Tween(highlight, "_alpha", fl.transitions.easing.Regular.easeInOut, 100, 0, 10, false); } } } The errors i am currently getting are : Scene 1, Layer 'Label', Frame 1, Line 6 1120: Access of undefined property _root. • Core Data table record count

    - by user339633
I have an entity called Person and it has a relationship called participatingGames, to another entity called GameParticipant. I (apparently) can retrieve the number of matches in the GameParticipant entity using this simple code in the Person object I created from the entity in the model: [self.participatingGames count]; However, I'd just like to retrieve the number of Person records and one might guess the syntax for this is just as simple. I have lots of books including those by Jeff LaMarche, but those sources and what I find around here make me wonder if I need to set up a fetchedResultsController just to know the count of some entity. My background is in SQL, so of course it seems odd that what would take 15 seconds to code in any other environment seems like such a well-guarded secret in Core Data. I'm using iPhone SDK 3.1.4 under OSX 10.5.8 Suggestions?

  • Access points fighting for dominance?

    - by Phillip Oldham
We have a small office with a large number of wireless devices (a mixture of desktop machines, laptops, and wifi-enabled phones) all working from a single Apple Airport Extreme which extends our wired network. I've added another Airport Extreme for resiliency, since we've been seeing a decrease in performance and (as far as I understand) access points can only handle a small number of clients. I set the new AP to extend the current network so that the clients weren't constantly switching between different wireless networks, however as soon as this AP was configured all the wireless devices started seeing network trouble, flicking on and off. I'm assuming that this is because both APs are reasonably strong, and the client can't decide which to use. What is the best route to follow to resolve this? What I'm aiming for is wireless resiliency; preferably having two APs share the network load, or if this isn't an option then having a primary AP with a "fail-over", should the primary go down for any reason.

  • predicate subquery to return items by matching tags

    - by user3411663
I have a many-to-many relationship between two entities; Item and Tag. I'm trying to create a predicate to take the selectedItem and return a ranking of items based on how many similar tags they have. So far I've tried: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SUBQUERY(itemToTag, $item, $item in %@).@count > 0", selectedItem.itemToTag]; Any other iterations that have failed. It currently only returns the selectedItem in the list. I've found little on Subquery. Is there a guru out there that can help me refine this? Thanks in advance for the help!

  • java tool for debugging

    - by user269723
Hi experts, Currently we are studying the java based tool which is primararily Reporting tool.It was developed in 2000/2001 period and uses many open source libraries like Apache Avalon/Mx4J.Adaptor/edu.Oswego(java concurrent package) etc. Tool uses jdk 1.3.1 and goal is to upgrade to jdk 1.5.We have also been asked to remove these 'outdated' packages and replace by standard java packages if possible. Unfortunately we have the code available for study but lacks any documentation and really difficult to track the flow(Total number of classes written might be more than 1000) during debugging. Whats the best way to understand this kind of tool? any Graphical tool to see the relationship between the classes? Thanks SR

When I do my left outer join I get back results that look like this: the resulting cursor has multiple rows that look like this: A1.id | A1.column1 | A1.column2 | B1.a_id_fk | B1.column1 | B1.column2 A1.id | A1.column1 | A1.column2 | B2.a_id_fk | B2.column1 | B2.column2 and so on... Is there a standard practice or method of dealing with results like this ? Clearly there is only A1, but it has many B-n relationships. I am coming close to using multiple queries instead of the "relational db way". Hopefully I am just not aware of the better way to do things. I intend to expose this query via a content provider and I would hate for all of the consumers to have to write the same aggregation logic.

  • Many to Many DataSet Insert to Database using Stored Procedures

    - by Jonn
I'm trying to do a many-to-many bulk insert to the database using a list of three different types of models. The only tools I can use are stored procedures and datasets. (But I can't use DataSet fills or DataAdapters, just plain ol' Stored Procedures). Is there an easy way to pass multiple values, let alone, pass three different lists and bulk insert them to a table in the database using stored procedures? (As specified in the title, the three tables are actually two tables and a third table to establish the many-to-many relationship between the two.)

  • Table header is not shown

    - by Vivien
    My error is that the table headers of my two tables are not shown. Right now I am setting the header with new JTable(data, columnNames). Here is an example which shows, my problem: public class Test extends JFrame { private static final long serialVersionUID = -4682396888922360841L; private JMenuBar menuBar; private JMenu mAbout; private JMenu mMain; private JTabbedPane tabbedPane; public SettingsTab settings = new SettingsTab(); private void addMenuBar() { menuBar = new JMenuBar(); mMain = new JMenu("Main"); mAbout = new JMenu("About"); menuBar.add(mMain); menuBar.add(mAbout); setJMenuBar(menuBar); } public void createTabBar() { tabbedPane = new JTabbedPane(JTabbedPane.TOP); tabbedPane.addTab("Settings", settings.createLayout()); add(tabbedPane); tabbedPane.setTabLayoutPolicy(JTabbedPane.SCROLL_TAB_LAYOUT); } private void makeLayout() { setTitle("Test"); setLayout(new BorderLayout()); setPreferredSize(new Dimension(1000, 500)); addMenuBar(); createTabBar(); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); pack(); setVisible(true); } public void start() { javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { makeLayout(); } }); } public static void main(String[] args) { Test gui = new Test(); gui.start(); } public class SettingsTab extends JPanel { public JScrollPane createLayout() { JPanel panel = new JPanel(new MigLayout("")); JScrollPane sp = new JScrollPane(panel); sp.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(ScrollPaneConstants.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); panel.add(table1(), "growx, wrap"); panel.add(Box.createRigidArea(new Dimension(0,10))); panel.add(table2()); // panel.add(Box.createRigidArea(new Dimension(0,10))); return sp; } public JPanel table1() { JPanel panel1 = new JPanel(); String[] columnNames = {"First Name", "Last Name"}; Object[][] data = { {"Kathy", "Smith"}, {"John", "Doe"}, {"Sue", "Black"}, {"Jane", "White"}, {"Joe", "Brown"}, {"John", "Doe"}, {"Sue", "Black"}, {"Jane", "White"}, {"Joe", "Brown"} }; final JTable table = new JTable(data, columnNames); tableProperties(table); panel1.add(table); panel1.setLayout(new BoxLayout(panel1, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); return panel1; } public JPanel table2() { JPanel panel1 = new JPanel(); String[] columnNames = {"First Name", "Last Name"}; Object[][] data = { {"Kathy", "Smith"}, {"John", "Doe"}, {"Sue", "Black"}, {"Jane", "White"}, {"Joe", "Brown"}, {"John", "Doe"}, {"Sue", "Black"}, {"Jane", "White"}, {"Joe", "Brown"} }; final JTable table = new JTable(data, columnNames); table.setPreferredScrollableViewportSize(new Dimension(500, 70)); table.setFillsViewportHeight(true); tableProperties(table); panel1.add(table); panel1.setLayout(new BoxLayout(panel1, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); return panel1; } public void tableProperties(JTable table) { table.setAutoResizeMode(JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_ALL_COLUMNS); table.repaint(); table.revalidate(); } } } Any recommendations what I am doing wrong?

  • to-many Core Data fetch request behaves oddly with a new store

    - by Giao
I have two entities, Department and Person. Department has a to-many relationship to Person. The Person entity has a hireDate property. I'm using the predicate "count(person) = 0 OR none person.hireDate %@" to find Departments without any Persons in them or Departments that haven't hired anyone since a recent date. When the app first starts up (new user experience) and Departments are inserted and no Person have been inserted, the fetch request with this predicate returns nothing. However, if I create insert a new Person entity and delete it, then save the store, the fetch request will return all the Departments. I've found a work around where, I just insert a new Person and delete it, then save the store, the fetch request as I expected it to work. I've found that inserting a new Person and deleting it without saving will not correct the problem. Is this a bug with Core Data or is this a bug with how I've designed my app?

  • Recursive query question - break rows into columns?

    - by Stew
I have a table "Families", like so FamilyID PersonID Relationship ----------------------------------------------- F001 P001 Son F001 P002 Daughter F001 P003 Father F001 P004 Mother F002 P005 Daughter F002 P006 Mother F003 P007 Son F003 P008 Mother and I need output like FamilyID PersonID Father Mother ------------------------------------------------- F001 P001 P003 P004 F001 P002 P003 P004 F001 P003 F001 P004 F002 P005 P006 F002 P006 F003 P007 P008 F003 P008 In which the PersonID of the Father and Mother for a given PersonID are listed (if applicable) in separate columns. I know this must be a relatively trivial query to write (and therefore to find instructions for), but I can't seem to come up with the right search terms. Searching "SQL recursive queries" has gotten me closest, but I can't quite translate those methods to what I'm trying to do here. I'm trying to learn, so multiple methods are welcome, as is vocabulary I should read up on. Thanks!

  • Where is App.config?

    - by Zian Choy
I'm trying to set up logging with Microsoft's Enterprise Library (log4net seems to be a dead project). I'm using VB .NET 2008 and VS 2008. I've searched all over the MSDN documentation, CodePlex docs (including the Hands-On labs that installed and then vanished), and online tutorials to no avail. They all refer to a mysterious "configuration file" or "App.config" that I can't find and can't seem to add. I even tried adding a new text file and renaming it "App.config" but that only made VS 2008 spit out a red wavy line on a blank file. Any suggestions for finding the elusive app.config would be greatly appreciated. (and, if that makes the EntLib configuration tool show up, I'll be absolutely delighted) Edit: I've been tricked! The tree in VS 2008 isn't a true superset-subset relationship, which is why I got so frustrated. To wit, the top of the tree: And a 'sub-section' of the tree.

  • Database layout tagging system

    - by Kurresmack
I am creating a web site for a customer and they want to be able to create articles. My idea is to tag them so I am going to implement the system. What is the best design, both from an architectural and a perfomance perspective: 1. To have table with all tags and then have a one to many relationship table that links a tag like this: articles table with ID tags table with ID one to many table with columns Article.ID and Tags.ID 2. To have one table with articles and one with tags for articles like this: articles table with ID tags table with Article.ID and tag text Thanks in advance!
