  • Implications on automatically "open" third party domain aliasing to one of my subdomains

    I have a domain, let's call it www.mydomain.com where I have a portal with an active community of users. In this portal users cooperate in a wiki way to build some "kind of software". These software applications can then be run by accessing "public.mydomain.com/softwarename" I then want to let my users run these applications from their own subdomains. I know I can do that by automatically modifying the.htaccess file. This is not a problem. I want to let these users create dns aliases to let them access one specific subdomain. So if a user "pippo" that owns "www.pippo.com" wants to run software HelloWorld from his own subdomains he has to: Register to my site Create his own subdomain on his own site, run.pippo.com From his DNS control panel, he creates a CNAME record "run.pippo.com" pointing to "public.mydomain.com" He types in a browser http://run.pippo.com/HelloWorld When the software(that is physically run on my server) is called, first it checks that the originating domain is a trusted one. I don't do any other kind of check that restricts software execution. From a SEO perspective, I care about Google indexing of www.mydomain.com but I don't care about indexing of public.mydomain.com What are the possible security implications of doing this for my site? Is there a better way to do this or software that already does this that I can use?

  • FormsAuthentication redirecting to login page when visiting root of website

    I wanted to use FormsAuthentication to secure my static files as well on my site, so I followed the instructions located here http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/244/how-to-take-advantage-of-the-iis7-integrated-pipeline/ under title "Enabling Forms Authentication for the Entire Application". Now though, when I try to visit the site by going directly to http://www.mysite.com I get redirected to http://www.mysite.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f instead of it using my DefaultDocument I have set. I can go to my default document by just visiting http://www.mysite.com/Home.aspx without any issues because it is set to allow anonymous access. Is there something I need to add into my web.config file to make iis7 allow anonymous access to the root? I tried adding with anonymous access but no such luck. Any help would be much appreciated.     A Day in the Life of an Oracle OpenWorld Attendee Part III My second full day started with me waking up and realising that I was supposed to meet my friend Tejas Joshi (co-author of the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Handbook) at the station in 20 minutes!  Needless to say I didn’t make it, but then I felt better later when I found out he had caught the wrong shuttle bus and ended up at the airport instead of the BART! The morning was spent in the Authors Seminar arranged to give authors a whirlwind tour of Oracle Product updates and strategy plans.  It was useful to see what was happening in areas I knew little or nothing about.  In the afternoon I wandered around Java One, a very different show to OpenWorld with much more bleeding edge stuff and just plain blue sky thinking.  Of course who couldn’t love a show with a full size Duke wondering around and available for photographs. Attended a presentation on a highly available Weblogic JMS environment wich did a great job of laying out to architect a highly available solution. Dinner with customers and then collapsed exhausted into bed!

  • Trouble accessing network drives in Windows 7

    Hi, Recently purchased a LaCiE network drive. Connected it to my router, configured it, added a user for myself. Installed the "Network Assistant" that came with it - no problem. Went to My Computer Network, found the network drive - was prompted for a login/password to see the contents, types \user and password (leading slash to get rid of DOMAIN) and accesses contents. There is one open share that I can access/mount without problem and there's another share with my user name as set-up via the network drive's web-based config. Double-clicked on that, prompted again. user/password doesn't work! It says I have no permissions but the user/pass combination is PERFECT. Some Windows Vista posts talk about a Local Security Policy menu - but that's nowhere to be found. Any ideas? (Windows 7 Professional BTW).

  • Indicator menu require long press to open

    I am using 11.10 on my laptop and have a following issue: If I single click on items in notification area (or indicators), like messaging menu, sound menu, calendar, a menu appears and disappears as soon as mouse button is released. I need to do a long press then move pointer to menu area to be able to select items in it. Any clues to fix it? P.S. This is a fresh install but my home folder (thus settings) were restored from previous Ubuntu installation.

  • How to expose MEX when I need the service to have NTLM authentication

    I'm developing a WCF service that is RESTful and SOAP, now both of them needs to be with NTLM authentication. I also want to expose a MEX endpoint so that others can easily reference the service and work with it. Now when I set IIS to require windows authentication I can use the REST service and make calls to the service succesfully, but when I want to reference the service with SVCUTIL it throws an error that it requires to be anonymous.
