  • How to query the SPView object

    - by Hugo Migneron
I have a SPView object that contains a lot of SPListItem objects (there are many fields in the view). I am only interested in one of these fields. Let's call it specialField Given that view and specialField, I want to know if a value is contained in specialField. Here is a way of doing what I want to do : String specialField = "Special Field"; String specialValue = "value"; SPList list = SPContext.Current.Site.RootWeb.Lists["My List"]; SPView view = list.Views["My View"]; //This is the view I want to query SPQuery query = new SPQuery(); query.Query = view.Query; SPListItemCollection items = list.GetItems(query); foreach(SPListItem item in items) { var value = item[specialField]; if(value != null) && (value.ToString() == specialValue) { //My value is found. This is what I was looking for. //break out of the loop or return } } //My value is not found. However, iterating through each ListItem hardly seems optimal, especially as there might be hundreds of items. This query will be executed often, so I am looking for an efficient way to do this. EDIT I will not always be working with the same view, so my solution cannot be hardcoded (it has to be generic enough that the list, view and specialField can be changed.

  • Data table to Excel conversion leaves my server side button non responsive

    - by Nikhil Vaghela
We have a web part on which we display some data in a grid. We are exporting grid's underlying datatable to Excel and displaying Open - Save - Cancel dialouge box on click of a server side button. Following is the code we are executing on click of server side button. this.Page.Response.Clear(); this.Page.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyTasks.xls"); this.Page.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel"; this.Page.Response.Write("...here goes my well formated html...."); this.Page.Response.End(); Problem is that when i click on Cancel in the diaglouge box then dialogue box to Open/Save excel disappears but all the server side buttons placed on my web part becomes non responsive, on click of any of those buttons their server side click event does not get fired !!! • Updating the url of a navigation node in moss programatically

    - by 78lro
Can anyone see why this should not work: SPSite topNavigationSite = new SPSite("http://moss"); SPWeb topNavigationWeb = topNavigationSite.OpenWeb(); SPNavigationNodeCollection topNavigationBarNodes = topNavigationWeb.Navigation.TopNavigationBar; SPNavigationNode updateNode = topNavigationBarNodes.Navigation.GetNodeByUrl("/about"); updateNode.Url = ""; topNavigationWeb.Update(); I can see debugging that the url get's set to "" but when the page renders, the navigation still shows the url as /about/default.aspx I'm running this in page_load and expected it to update the moss database with the new url value.

  • Simple user control for conditionally rendering nested HTML

    - by Goyuix
What I would like to do, is be able to pass two attributes to a user control, a ListName and a Permission, like so: <uc:check id="uc" List="Shared Documents" Permission="OpenItems" runat="server"> <!-- have some HTML content here that is rendered if the permission is true --> </uc:check> Then in the actual check user control, have something similar to: <%@ Control language="C#" ClassName="check" %> <% // determine permission magic placeholder if (DoesUserHavePermissions(perm)) { // render nested HTML content } else { // abort rendering as to not show nested HTML content } %> I have read the page on creating a templated control on MSDN, and while that would work - it really seems to be a bit overkill for what I am trying to do. Is there a control that already renders content based on a boolean expression or a simpler template example? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/36574bf6.aspx

  • CAML query returns wrong results?

    - by Abe Miessler
I have the following code: SPQuery oQuery = new SPQuery(); oQuery.Query = @"<Query> <Where> <And> <Eq> <FieldRef Name='PublishToSM' /> <Value Type='Boolean'>1</Value> </Eq> <IsNull> <FieldRef Name='SMUpdateDate' /> </IsNull> </And> </Where> </Query>"; SPListItemCollection collListItems = list.GetItems(oQuery); NevCoSocialMedia.NevCoFacebook fb = new NevCoSocialMedia.NevCoFacebook(); foreach (SPListItem oListItem in collListItems) { if (oListItem.Fields.ContainsField("PublishToSM") && Convert.ToBoolean(oListItem["PublishToSM"]) == true) { . . . My question is why do I need to have the last if statement? If I don't have this it will throw an error saying that the identifier does not exist when it tries to do oListItem["PublishToSM"]. This seems impossible since my CAML query is checking that that has an appropriate value...

  • Item-Level Permissions (Edit only their own but, read everyones)...

    - by Jason
I have a list which I've set item-level permissions on. I set it to allow users to read all items and only edit their own items... The issue is that if I do this then I can still edit all items... If I change it so that I can only read my own and only edit my own then it works as expected... Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be occurring and a solution... I've set the list up to only allow one user account with contribute rights for testing purposes...

Is there a way to set the Lists property to search both at the same time?
