  I'm in the ADC so I have legitimate access to a free copy of Snow Leopard Server and licence key which I need to use to test my Push Notifications. I downloaded the software, and when I opened the .dmg I saw "Click to install Snow Leopard Server" which I did, and then it prompted me to restart the computer to begin installation. When the computer restarted, however, it just booted into my regular OS X partition. I kept trying to no avail. Obviously I'm missing something stupid here but I'm not a server admin so I don't know what to do :) The dmg is almost 6GB so I can't burn a DVD of it. I really need your help! Thanks guys!

• Controlling the fontsize across multiple browsers

  Hello, I've got 3 browsers on my WinXPpro: Firefox 3.5.2, Opera 10 and IE 7. Alle pages are displayed fine in FF. Opera and IE seem to have a very similar issue: Both upsize fonts eventhough zoom mode in both browsers is set to 100%. I tend to believe that this might be a system-wide setting, somewhere. Does anyone know this problem? Thanks in advance.

  I have bought Samsung 530U3C notebook with i5-3317/12GB RAM/500GB HDD/24GB ExpressCache/Windows 8 preinstalled. I would like to install my own clean version of Win8. But I would like to preserve recovery partition. I will sell this laptop in probably 1-1.5 year and I would like to be able to restore settings to factory ones. What is more, in the future I would like to install Ubuntu as well, but Windows goes first.   I am installing Redmine as per this step-by-step instruction: http://justnotes.co.cc/2010/02/11/how-to-install-redmine-on-ubuntu/ I am using Ubuntu 10.04.1, Apache 2.2.14, Mongrel 1.1.5. On the VirtualHost configuration stage, I am using this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName myserver.lv ProxyPass /redmine/ http://localhost:8000/ ProxyPassReverse /redmine/ http://localhost:8000 ProxyPreserveHost on <Proxy *> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Proxy> </VirtualHost> But, when I direct my browser to http://<my-server's-ip>/redmine/ what I see is not the redmine web application but "Index of /redmine" with, well, index of the files from the root directory of Redmine. Any idea how to fix that? P.S. Tried removing the VirtualHost stuff alltogether and instead adding the following simple clauses to apache2.conf: <Proxy *> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /redmine/ http://localhost:8000/ ProxyPassReverse /redmine/ http://localhost:8000/ ProxyPreserveHost on As a result, the behavior changes! Now http://<my-server's-ip>/redmine/ produces the source code of the Redmine's start page, so it is served, but apparently not rendered. At the same time, still, http://<my-server's-ip>:8000/ works perfectly fine, so Mongrel is serving the Redmine application as it should, it's just that something is wrong with my VirtualHost/proxying clauses in the .conf file.

• Migrate installation from one HDD to another?

  I have a server with a 64 GB SSD inside. It runs just fine, but occasionally there's a hiccup that causes it to nearly fill up. When that happens my server starts to lockup and generally misbehave. I'm looking to buy a bigger SSD (either 128 GB or 256 GB) but I'm a bit unsure of how best to make the transition. For a start, I don't have an external monitor. If I need one I'll have to borrow it from work. Most of the time I just SSH into the server from my iMac. The only solution I can think of would be to buy two FW800 2.5" cases, boot from the 64 GB SSD and clone it to the 128 GB SSD. Seem a bit excessive but it might be my best option. I do have more than one SATA port on my server, but they're all currently being use for storage drives. They don't mount by default, so I could unplug them and just have the two SSDs and do the whole thing via SSH. This is another option I'm considering. My main concern with either is how best to make sure everything goes across. I want a carbon copy of the first one onto the second. This is especially important because I have a ZFS volume (my storage) and I'm a bit unfamiliar with how to move everything across. I could just start fresh and reinstall everything on the SSD, but that seems like extra trouble I don't need. So any advice on how best to achieve my goals would be appreciated. Thanks!   I am trying to install Oracle 11g(11.2.0.1.0) on Oracle Linux 6.4(Remote Server). I get the following error(s) when Database Configuration Assistant is running ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated Disconnection forced ORA-48210: Relation Not Found Can someone help me regarding this errors, I cant seem to find what exactly that I have to do to solve this issue. I have done the same install on Oracle Linux 5.7 but never faced this issue before. The only problem while installing(which happens on 5.7 too) is that the required packages fail, but upon checking, it seems much higher versions are already installed. Also I cant do a yum update because the system seems to have connectivity issues with public-yum.oracle.com as I cant ping it(even though the IP Address gets resolved)

  Related question: When reinstalling Windows 7, does the language, version, architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) or source (OEM, retail, or MSDN) matter? Unthinkingly I installed Windows 7 Enterprise on my development box at work rather than the Ultimate version. Now windows is complaining that it is unable to activate because it can't contact a KMS (Key Management Service) which my company doesn't have. Is there any way to change this install such that it believes it is Windows 7 Ultimate and will take an ultimate key? I have MSDN so the licensing is not an issue.

  My laptop's hard disk is gone, so I need to re-install my Windows. Would it be a good idea to directly install Win8 (so actually the preview). Is there any known incompatibility with Win7 which would be a show stopper? I have a Dell XPS laptop, I do not expect any driver issues since the series is pretty much mainstream. Would the Win8 preview become Win8 RTM automatically by updates, or would I need to re-install Win8 RTM. This would be the no-go for me. The Win8 preview does not require a key, so I guess it becomes Win 8 RTM and then needs to be activated (which is what I want). Basically the idea is, I have to install windows anyway, so why not using the latest version?

Also, I guess the answers would differ depending on the language, so I'm looking for information related to the English/en-US versions only (I believe there is an en-GB version as well?) The Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant allows one to create USB/DVD (ISO) media: Is the media customised per-PC in any way, or are copies created on different PCs with different base OSes (XP/Vista/7) exactly the same? If the ISOs are not customised, are they exactly the same content-wise as the Upgrade DVDs available for purchase?

The database might not exist, or the current user does not have permission to connect to it." • Kickstart installation from USB -- Kickstart location

  After managing to get a Fedora ISO to rebuild successfully (for a USB stick) after adding a kickstart file (http://serverfault.com/questions/548405/), I now have an issue with locating the kickstart file on the USB media. When this is done from a CDROM you can simply kickckstart by adding this parameter to boot: linux ks=cdrom This will kickstart (providing the kickstart file is named ks.cfg and is in the root of the disk). Now, obviously this will be different for the USB drive, so from my research, I assumed that this line would do the job: linux ks=hd:sdb1:/ks.cfg Evidently this does not work. I get an error informing me this drive is already mounted and cannot be remounted. EDIT: Actual error message: mount: /dev/sdb1 is already mounted or /run/install/tmpmnt0 busy Warning: Can't get kickstart from /dev/sdb1:/ks.cfg To test that the syntax was correct I placed the kickstart file on another USB stick and loaded the same command to grab ks.cfg from the new location: linux ks=hd:sdc1:/ks.cfg This does work (providing USB sticks are mounted in order, boot - sdb1, kickstart - sdc1). The install will kickstart and complete the install with no issue. Obviously having to use 2 pen drives is somewhat frustrating and unreliable. Is there a way around this?

  Hi All, I have tried to install a 32 bit Netegrity(CA) siteminder web agent on 64 bit Windows server 2003. The IIS server is V 6.0 and so it is also 64 bit. But the problem is while configuring the agent it is showing metabase error. Previously 64 bit web agent was installed on the same server and removed. The IIS V 6.0 is also reinstalled on the server. But after that when I tried to install 32 bit siteminder web agent, it is showing an error as said above. Is it possible to install a 32 bit siteminder web agent on 64 bit IIS?
