• Failing Windows Updates with Error Code 800719e4

  On a number of Vista machines I have now come across the same error - when installing updates everything works fine, until it after it reboots and the rolls back during step 3. On all occasions (where a simple retry hasn't worked) the error code has been 800719e4. On my own laptop I have so far tried the following:- Installed the updates one by one manually - I started on the smallest and one by one have worked towards the largest one which has left me with "Security Update for Windows (KB2286198)" that refuses to install. Renamed all the files in "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS" to "xxx.old" where xxx was the original name with windows update turned off - no change Renamed all the folders in "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" in the same manner - no change Attempted to install it manually "Windows6.0-KB2286198-x86.msu" - no change Tried to un-install IE8 - doesn't work, rolls back at the end (Installing the IE9 Beta when it launched was what alerted me to the issue on this laptop) Ran a "Fix It" thing from the Microsoft Website - no help (Can't find the link now). Tried to recover from the disk - but alas my laptop only has a recovery partition (and was unservice packed original). Ran with nothing running on startup, and only MS services - again no change. Google is being useless with a load of posts trying to get me to call a telephone number with letters in (presumably an American number) The error code appears to mean error log full but no one has any idea which log! • Subversion error: Repository moved permanently to please relocate

  I've set up subversion and apache on my server. If I browse to it through my webbrowser it works fine (http://svn.host.com/reposname). However, if I do a checkout on my machine I get the following error: Command: Checkout from http://svn.host.com/reposname, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included Error: Repository moved permanently to 'http://svn.host.com/reposname/'; please relocate I checked apache's error log, but it doesn't say anything. (it does now - see edit) My repositories are stored under: /var/www/svn/repos/ My website is stored under: /var/www/vhosts/x/... Here's the conf file for the subdomain: <Location /> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/www/svn/repos/ AuthType Basic AuthName "Authorization Realm" AuthUserFile /var/www/svn/auth/svn.htpasswd Require valid-user </Location> Authentication works fine. • Configuring Unity with a closed generic constructor parmater

  I've been trying to read the article here but I still can't understand it. I have a constructor resembling the following: IOrderStore orders = new OrderStore(new Repository<Order>(new OrdersDataContext())); The constructor for OrderStore: public OrderStore(IRepository<Order> orderRepository) Constructor for Repository<T>: public Repository(DataContext dataContext) How do I set this up in the Unity config file? UPDATE: I've spent the last few hours banging my head against this, and although I'm not really any closer to getting it right I think at least I can be a little more specific about the problem. The error message is OrderStore does not have a constructor that takes the parameters (IRepository`1). What I think this is complaining about is because the OrderStore constructor takes a closed IRepository generic type, ie OrderStore(IRepository<Order>) and not OrderStore(IRepository<T>) I don't have any idea how to resolve this.

• Marshal.PtrToStructure (and back again) and generic solution for endianness swapping

  I have a system where a remote agent sends serialized structures (from and embedded C system) for me to read and store via IP/UDP. In some cases I need to send back the same structure types. I thought I had a nice setup using Marshal.PtrToStructure (receive) and Marshal.StructureToPtr (send). However, a small gotcha is that the network big endian integers need to be converted to my x86 little endian format to be used locally. When I'm sending them off again, big endian is the way to go. I don't want to have to swap the endianness on a structure-specific way. My first thought was to use Reflection, but I'm not very familiar with that feature. • Generic linked list in c++

  I have been struggling for too long a time now with a rather simple question about how to create a generic linked list in c++. The list should be able contain several types of structs, but each list will only contain one type of struct. The problem arises when I want to implement the getNode() function [see below], because then I have to specify which of the structs it should return. I have tried to substitute the structs with classes, where the getNode function returns a base class that is inherited by all the other classes, but it still does not do the trick, since the compiler does not allow the getNode function to return anything but the base class then. I need to know how i can direct the user to the NotFound view in my Controllers and how to render a specific "Return to Index" in each controller. • Generic Type constraint in .net

  Okay I'm looking for some input, I'm pretty sure this is not currently supported in .NET 3.5 but here goes. I want to require a generic type passed into my class to have a constructor like this: new(IDictionary<string,object>) so the class would look like this public MyClass<T> where T : new(IDictionary<string,object>) { T CreateObject(IDictionary<string,object> values) { return new T(values); } } But the compiler doesn't support this, it doesn't really know what I'm asking. Some of you might ask, why do you want to do this? Well I'm working on a pet project of an ORM so I get values from the DB and then create the object and load the values. I thought it would be cleaner to allow the object just create itself with the values I give it. As far as I can tell I have two options: 1) Use reflection(which I'm trying to avoid) to grab the PropertyInfo[] array and then use that to load the values. 2) require T to support an interface like so: public interface ILoadValues { void LoadValues(IDictionary values); } and then do this public MyClass<T> where T:new(),ILoadValues { T CreateObject(IDictionary<string,object> values) { T obj = new T(); obj.LoadValues(values); return obj; } } The problem I have with the interface I guess is philosophical, I don't really want to expose a public method for people to load the values. Using the constructor the idea was that if I had an object like this namespace DataSource.Data { public class User { protected internal User(IDictionary<string,object> values) { //Initialize } } } As long as the MyClass<T> was in the same assembly the constructor would be available. I personally think that the Type constraint in my opinion should ask (Do I have access to this constructor? I do, great!) Anyways any input is welcome.

  I am writing matrix classes. Doing this is no problem: generic_square_matrix<T, 4> m = generic_matrix<T, 4, 4>(); It is possible to assign any square matrix to M, even though the type is not generic_square_matrix, due to the constructor. This is possible because the data does not change across children, only the supported functions. This is also possible: generic_square_matrix<T, 4> m = generic_square_matrix<T, 5>().minor(1,1); Same conversion applies here. But now comes the problem: generic_square_matrix<T, 4>().minor(1,1).foo(); //problem, foo is not in generic_matrix<T, 3, 3> To solve this I would like generic_square_matrix::minor to return a generic_square_matrix instead of a generic_matrix. The only possible way to do this, I think is to use template specialisation. But since a specialisation is basically treated like a separate class, I have to redefine all functions. I cannot call the function of the non-specialised class as you would do with a derived class, so I have to copy the entire function. This is not a very nice generic-programming solution, and a lot of work. C++ almost has a solution for my problem: a virtual function of a derived class, can return a pointer or reference to a different class than the base class returns, if this class is derived from the class that the base class returns. generic_square_matrix is derived from generic_matrix, but the function does not return a pointer nor reference, so this doesn't apply here. Is there a solution to this problem (possibly involving an entirely other structure; my only requirements are that the dimensions are a template parameter and that square matrices can have additional functionality). • Booting Error while using 12.04 booting from GRUB

  my name is Paul. I have encountered an issue relating to GRUB booting and the booting process in general. I have been running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my machine for quite a while. Before that, i had (before) 10.04, 11.04, 11.10, etc. I have been running Ubuntu, in general, but more specifically 12.04 for a long time with little to no problems. The problem: Earlier today, i was using my machine and then decided to take a little break. I shut down my machine (laptop, in case anyone was wondering) and left. Later, I came back ready to start it up and continue. I started it up and it took me to the Toshiba screen (like normal) then to the GRUB screen. I guessed that nothing was truly wrong, and chose the first option (something around the lines of: Ubuntu, with linux 3.22.0-35-generic). I waited for a bit and it still displayed the same purple screen. I restarted it and now chose the option like the first but with recovery at the end. Same result. Later, I waited longer and found that my computer came up with a bunch of lines of script. I waited longer but nothing new happened. What are your suggestions as to fix this problem? I will let my computer run overnight with the recovery setting and will let you know what the result is. Until then, please help. Thank you, your time and effort is greatly appreciated!

• Problem running mysql client, cannot connect to mysql server

  Edit3: Thanks for the help everyone. Sorry for wasting anybody's time, but it seems like a simple reboot solved it. I should've known better, but I just had the assumption that the "restart" solution is mostly valid just for MS Windows (no offense). I'll keep this in mind before I ask a question here again. I installed the mysql-client-5.0 and mysql-server-5.0 packages on Ubuntu 8.04, using sudo apt-get install. When I try to run the "mysql" command, I get the following error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) To verify that mysql server is running, I tried this, and it does seem to be running, with the correct socket too: $ ps aux | grep mysql root 13388 0.0 0.0 1772 528 ? • Linux Uninstalling errors

  I want to uninstall back-track 5 so I deleted the partitions for back-track os. After deleting the partition that used to be for back-track becomes free space as in picture. But I can't delete that partition nor creating a new partition. I used G-Parted from hiren boot cd but it says there is no partition table, you need to create a partition table. But actually I have 5 partitions already. And I thought of restarting might fix it. But after showing post screen my laptop show grub error. I don't know what to do, and I tried to install back-track again to fix the problem but it also says that i do not have any partitions. I can only boot windows by passing through hiren boot cd. But most of the time My computer is not recognizing the external dvd drive, nor the internal so i have to restart again and again, hoping to catch the time computer recognize the dvd drive. Can I change the boot loader to correct the grub error? SOLVED : I have solved the grub error by writing MBR again by using EasyBCD But I still have the format error.

  I have a DLL that I would like to install into the Global Assembly Cache so that it can be referenced from multiple locations. • Help! Getting an error copying the data from one column to the same column in a similar recordset..

  I have a routine which reads one recordset, and adds/updates rows in a similar recordset. The routine starts off by copying the columns to a new recordset: Here's the code for creating the new recordset.. For X = 1 To aRS.Fields.Count mRS.Fields.Append aRS.Fields(X - 1).Name, aRS.Fields(X - 1).Type, aRS.Fields(X - _ 1).DefinedSize, aRS.Fields(X - 1).Attributes Next X Pretty straight forward. Notice the copying of the name, Type, DefinedSize & Attributes... Further down in the code, (and there's nothing that modifies any of the columns between.. ) I'm copying the values of a row to a row in the new recordset as such: For C = 1 To aRS.Fields.Count mRS.Fields(C - 1) = aRS.Fields(C - 1) Next C When it gets to the last column which is a numeric, it craps with the "Mutliple-Step Operation Generated an error" message. I know that MS says this is an error generated by the provider, which in this case is ADO 2.8. There is no open connect to the DB at this point in time either. I'm pulling what little hair I have left over this one... (and I don't really care at this point that the column index is 'X' in one loop & 'C' in the other... I'll change it later when I get the real problem fixed...)

• VS2010 final does only link project on "rebuild all", not on "build changed"

  I've just migrated a solution containing c++ and c# projects from VS2008 to VS2010 and got a strange problem. When I select "rebuild all", everything compiles and links as I would expect it to do. • W006.15 isp or T-mobile Network Error.

  I just bought a new T-Mobile G2.  I wanted to turn on Wifi calling but kept receiving "W006.15 isp or T-mobile Network Error" and asking me to register.  After doing some research I looked at my cable modem/router logs and config.  There were fragmented packets originating from the phone and the incoming fragmented packets were blocked.  I disabled the "Block fragmented packets" setting and the phone was able to connect for Wifi calling
