• iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

  I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

• How to scrape a _private_ google group?

  Hi there, I'd like to scrape the discussion list of a private google group. It's a multi-page list and I might have to this later again so scripting sounds like the way to go. Since this is a private group, I need to login in my google account first. Unfortunately I can't manage to login using wget or ruby Net::HTTP. Surprisingly google groups is not accessible with the Client Login interface, so all the code samples are useless. My ruby script is embedded at the end of the post. The response to the authentication query is a 200-OK but no cookies in the response headers and the body contains the message "Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on." I got the same output with wget. See the bash script at the end of this message. I don't know how to workaround this. am I missing something? Any idea? Thanks in advance. • Google Chrome mouse wheel takes keyboard focus

  I recently switched the default browser on all my machines from Firefox to Google Chrome. In general I’m loving Chrome but there is one behaviour that is driving me nuts. Scrolling with the mouse wheel takes keyboard focus away from the document. Here’s what happens. I’ve just opened a page or switched to a new tab and the page has keyboard focus as I can use the keyboard up/down and PgUp/PgDn keys to scroll it; no problem there. But if I then use the wheel on my mouse to scroll the page, it loses the keyboard focus and no longer responds to up/down, PgUp/PgDn, or in fact any other keyboard keys. I have to click on the page background to restore the keyboard focus. This is a minor inconvenience for scrolling but where it really drives me nuts is in Google Reader and Gmail where I use keyboard shortcuts a lot. Here I find that I scroll the article or e-mail I’m reading with the mouse wheel then get no response when I press j/k to move to the next or previous article or e-mail. I am using Windows 7 and the Chrome dev channel (version 4.0.249.43).

  In converting this CONSOLE example to a full windows dialog implementation I have run into a very "simple problem". The handle I use is the wParam value from the Skype Reply message, as in the code. This is non zero, but I am not sure if there is a way to test it other than with SendMessage. The compiled app from this C++ code example (see zip download) does actually work so I am stumped. I do encode the message with UTF8, and I create an instance of the COPYDATASTRUCT in my app, populate it then call SendMessage() with the COPYDATASTRUCT pointer in lparam. Skype does not respond nor does it obey. Am I missing something obvious here?

• keyboard intermittently stops working even after reinstalling windows 7; possibly a Chrome issue?

  My keyboard intermittently stops working. Sometimes a couple of keys will work, but usually none. Sometimes if I mash the ctrl+alt+windows keys randomly for a bit, the keyboard will let me type one more letter before stopping again. Sometimes the keys will open a program menu but usually not. I have even completely wiped my machine and reinstalled windows 7; the problem continues. Specs: Intel iMac (early 2006, 2.0GHz, 2MB RAM, 240GB HD) running ONLY Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit (NOT through boot camp) and using a USB keyboard (Saitek Eclipse II.) Unplugging & reconnecting keyboard does NOT fix it. Connecting a different keyboard does NOT fix it. That one won't work, either. Drivers are up-to-date. Removing and reinstalling drivers does NOT fix it. Restarting the computer does NOT fix it. In fact, when the Windows logon screen appears the keyboard won't work and neither will the icon to pull up the on-screen keyboard. My mouse can click around just fine. I can only log onto a non-password protected account. Generally, logging into as different Windows user fixes it. I can then log back on to my main user account and continue work for a few hours until it happens again. Clearing my Chrome browsing data stopped the problem from recurring for a week or so. I have already REINSTALLED Windows 7 (not just a restore.) The problem returned after 2 days of use. I use Avira free antivirus software, and repeated scans turn up nothing fishy. I suspect it is related to something in Google Chrome because I used my google account to reload all my previous Chrome extensions, saved data, etc. (Chrome Extensions Installed: AdBlock, Better Google Tasks, DropBox, FB Photo Zoom, Google Mail Checker, StayFocusd.) Any ideas? Any at all?

  Any options out there? Google Static Maps with SSL (HTTPS) is only available to Premier members. Bing's Open Map API seems to have the same restricts. Any other ideas? I'm debating whether to schedule a cronjob to wget over http and dump the images I need into a folder (named after the content object IDs that reference them), but I'd rather find a free map API (or something less klugey) that supports HTTPS requests.

• Opera 10.5 RAM usage and Google Reader?

  Hi all, Today I upgraded to Opera 10.5 from Google Chrome and I have two really important questions about it. 1) Is it normal for it to use SO MUCH RAM!!!!? Closing tabs doesn't help, but opening new ones add on to the usage. I can have just 4 tabs open and it goes up to the 300MB mark and I only have 1.5GB in my laptop, 596MB of it used by the graphics card so this really unacceptable. Is there a way to fix it? 2) Why does Google Reader feel so slow and unresponsive on it? It lags so bad when I just try scrolling through the page. I know Opera is known for being really smooth while scrolling through pages. There's also a white bar at the bottom of the page that I can get rid of. It blocks the "Next" and "Previous" buttons. The test between articles is also sort of intersecting each other and that just looks completely unattractive and that's something i'm not used with any web browser. I realize there's a built-in RSS reader, but it doesn't sync across multiple computers and is very late at updating. Here are my specs: Windows 7 Ultimate (x86), Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz, 1.5GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X600 (64MB dedicated, 596MB shared)

• Is there a good charting library for iPhone?

  I have a need to render and display charts (bar charts for now, but more types may be needed later) in an iPhone app I'm working on. I've done some looking around and it doesn't look like there are any really good, mature charting libraries for iPhone yet. I've also looked for something written for Cocoa on the Mac that can be adapted, but haven't found anything great yet. Anybody dealt with this before? Any recommendations? I did find Core Plot, but it seems to be in the early stages of development. The heartbreak is that it works beautifully on my dev laptop but when ported to web server it times out with no explanation. My SMTP config is in my web.config file. • Google Chrome doesn't delete my browsing history correctly

  I have deleted everything that I could from my browser history: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData I checked everything and select the begining of time Then when I access browsing history: chrome://history/ There is nothing (as I expected), or to be precise No history entries found. The problem is that I still see my specific search url with very specific query I have made a month ago, when I start typing the url of the website into chrome address bar. How is that possible? Where is Google stroing these data. How to get rid off them completely? I want to mention that my autosuggestion options look like this: So, what else should I delete to remove everything from autosuggestions? Right now it has some specific URLs (subpages, pages with very specific search query I have made in a month or so). I have tried restarting Chrome and restarting my computer, but the urls are still in the autosuggestion. Also I am unable to turn off the autosuggestion, even I have unchecked that option in settings. My Google Chrome version is: Version 27.0.1453.116 m (probably the latest) Btw. in Firefox deleting the history works as expected. So, I guess that this has nothing to do with the operating system I am using (Windows 7), but only it's an issue with Chrome itself.

  I have been experiencing a bit of a problem with Chrome over the last couple of days where it doesn't want to access Facebook. When I open Chrome it works fine for a while and then if I were to refresh the page it would give me the Chrome 'This webpage is not available' message. This webpage is not available Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection. Here are some suggestions: Reload this webpage later. Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using. Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again. If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the wrench menu Options Under the Hood Change proxy settings... LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox. This problem only persists when using the proxy and doesn't occur at all when not on the proxy. I have also tried different browsers (IE9 and Firefox 9.01) but it doesn't occur in any of them. This problem goes away for a while when I restart Chrome, only to happen again a couple of minutes later. I have tried deleting the cookies for Facebook without restarting Chrome, but to no avail. I am using Windows7 with Chrome 17

  Backstory: I bungled things a bit the other day, and inadvertantly deleted the DNS overrides for my domain including the MX records that point to Google Apps, causing 2 days of lost emails. What I want: I want to be able to monitor the email address/account so that I can be alerted if for any reason something has gone wrong and emails aren't arriving. Thoughts: I was thinking there might be a way to test the email without having to send an actual message. Does this exist? This wouldn't help if the DNS has reset itself to a different mailserver would it? The other idea was sending periodic emails to check the address it working. How would you automate this? You'd need to somehow check that the email address had arrived as well as checking if it had bounced. Are there any scripts that exist that would do something like this? What would be the best method? Maybe a combination of checking that the MX records for the domain are set to what they're supposed to be set to, and sending automatic test emails to check that things are still functioning on the Google Apps end?

  Hi there, I am working with Google Analytics - Goals and Funnels for quite sometime, but one thing is is not clear for me. I would very much appreciate if you could help me. We are advertising on several sites rotating several different ads. Our main goal is to collect as many sign-ups (new users) as possible for as low price as possible. We use to advertise the way, that each ad has the same URL where to land, but contains different parameter (e.g. http://www.brautpunkt.de/?ref=fb01 or ..... .de/?ref=adw03). My question is: If I am looking at the goals (Goals Overview), filtering it through Advanced Segments (Landing Page contains /?ref=fb01) is this subset of goals done only by the users who registered in the same session after they came on our site directly from the ad? or also by those users who came first time through this ad (/?ref=fb01), didn't register in the same session but came directly for example on the other day and register than? • IPTables Rule for Google Apps SMTP

  I am trying to add iptables rule to allow traffic on ports 465 & 587 to google apps smtp servers. But I got not luck. My WHMCS installation works fine with google apps when I turn off iptables but iptables turn on itself again and email stop working. Please add rules to allow traffic from port 465 and 587.   Hi all, I was working on a very simple extension, where on clicking extension icon, a webpage is opened in a new tab, the webpage has HTML frames, within which lies a textbox. I want to set a value for the same. The webpage which opens has: <HTML> <FRAMESET rows="15%, *" border="0"> <FRAME src="./files/abc.htm" id="abc_frame" name="abc_frame" onload="abcLoad()" scrolling="NO"> </FRAMESET> </HTML> and abc.htm has: <div align="center" valign="bottom" style="font-size: 1em;"> <form onSubmit="javascript:navigate(this);return false;"> <label for="loc">Loc</label>: <input type="text" size="50" id="loc" value="http://google.com"/> <input name="go" type="submit" value="Go" id="loc_go" onclick='navigate(this); return false;'/> </form> </div> how can I replace current textbox value with, say http://yahoo.com ?
