  • Building NanoBSD inside a jail

    - by ptomli
    I'm trying to setup a jail to enable building a NanoBSD image. It's actually a jail on top of a NanoBSD install. The problem I have is that I'm unable to mount the md device in order to do the 'build image' part. Is it simply not possible to mount an md device inside a jail, or is there some other knob I need to twiddle? On the host /etc/rc.conf.local jail_enable="YES" jail_mount_enable="YES" jail_list="build" jail_set_hostname_allow="NO" jail_build_hostname="build.vm" jail_build_ip="192.168.0.100" jail_build_rootdir="/mnt/zpool0/jails/build/home" jail_build_devfs_enable="YES" jail_build_devfs_ruleset="devfsrules_jail_build" /etc/devfs.rules [devfsrules_jail_build=5] # nothing Inside the jail [root@build /usr/obj/nanobsd.PROLIANT_MICROSERVER]# sysctl security.jail security.jail.param.cpuset.id: 0 security.jail.param.host.hostid: 0 security.jail.param.host.hostuuid: 64 security.jail.param.host.domainname: 256 security.jail.param.host.hostname: 256 security.jail.param.children.max: 0 security.jail.param.children.cur: 0 security.jail.param.enforce_statfs: 0 security.jail.param.securelevel: 0 security.jail.param.path: 1024 security.jail.param.name: 256 security.jail.param.parent: 0 security.jail.param.jid: 0 security.jail.enforce_statfs: 1 security.jail.mount_allowed: 1 security.jail.chflags_allowed: 1 security.jail.allow_raw_sockets: 0 security.jail.sysvipc_allowed: 0 security.jail.socket_unixiproute_only: 1 security.jail.set_hostname_allowed: 0 security.jail.jail_max_af_ips: 255 security.jail.jailed: 1 [root@build /usr/obj/nanobsd.PROLIANT_MICROSERVER]# mdconfig -l md2 md0 md1 md0 and md1 are the ramdisks of the host. bsdlabel looks sensible [root@build /usr/obj/nanobsd.PROLIANT_MICROSERVER]# bsdlabel /dev/md2s1 # /dev/md2s1: 8 partitions: # size offset fstype [fsize bsize bps/cpg] a: 1012016 16 4.2BSD 0 0 0 c: 1012032 0 unused 0 0 # "raw" part, don't edit newfs runs ok [root@build /usr/obj/nanobsd.PROLIANT_MICROSERVER]# newfs -U /dev/md2s1a /dev/md2s1a: 494.1MB (1012016 sectors) block size 16384, fragment size 2048 using 4 cylinder groups of 123.55MB, 7907 blks, 15872 inodes. with soft updates super-block backups (for fsck -b #) at: 160, 253184, 506208, 759232 mount fails [root@build /usr/obj/nanobsd.PROLIANT_MICROSERVER]# mount /dev/md2s1a _.mnt/ mount: /dev/md2s1a : Operation not permitted UPDATE: One of my colleagues pointed out There are some file systems types that can't be securely mounted within a jail no matter what, like UFS, MSDOFS, EXTFS, XFS, REISERFS, NTFS, etc. because the user mounting it has access to raw storage and can corrupt it in a way that it will panic entire system. From http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg160389.html So it seems that the standard nanobsd.sh won't run inside a jail while it uses the md device to build the image. One potential solution I'll try is to chroot from the host into the build jail, rather than jexec a shell.

  • How do I compile DarWINE in PowerPC Mac OS X 10.4.11...?

    - by Craig W. Davis
    So far I've tried using MacPorts which gives me this error: /Error: Cannot install wine for the arch(s) 'powerpc' because Error: its dependency pkgconfig is only installed for the archs 'i386 ppc'. Error: Unable to execute port: architecture mismatch To report a bug, etc... (I'm not allowed to post two links due to being a new poster...)./ I've also tried using the build script I found in the DarWINE 0.9.12 SDK download that I found on the DarWINE SourceForge.net Project Page... I've also tried the build script that I found at http://code.google.com/p/osxwinebuilder/#Building_Wine_via_the_script... None of these attempts to build DarWINE have actually worked. Whenever I build using the DarWINE build script I run it as follows: /1. I decompress the WINE tarball into ~/Downloads/WINE 2. I cd into ~/Downloads/DarWINE. 3. I run ./winemaker ~/Downloads/WINE/wine-1.2.2 or ./winemaker ~/Downloads/WINE/wine-1.2-rc2 (the reason for trying WINE 1.2-rc2 is that some people managed to get it to build on PowerPC Macs running 10.5.8...)./ I made sure to install Xcode Tools 2.5 & all the SDKs too... The net result is either a syntax type error resulting from trying to run the checked out Google Code DarWINE build script or a bunch of make errors when trying to run the official DarWINE build script that I forcefully extracted from the DarWINE 0.9.12 SDK .dmg file by using Pacifist. I trying to build DarWINE on mid-April 2006 1.42 GHz eMac with DL SuperDrive with Bluetooth 2.0+EDR with 2 GBs of RAM running 10.4.11 as I mentioned earlier... (it came with 10.4.4 on the Mac's Restore DVD-ROM that I ordered from 1-800-SOS-APPL & coconutIdentityCard told me it was made on April 12th 2006 & I know that's right because when I reinstalled Mac OS X 10.4.4 it displayed that it was registered/previously owned by a Hawaiian school...): /make[1]: winegcc: Command not found make[1]: * [main.o] Error 127 make: * [dlls/acledit] Error 2./

  • Best way to build / implement a corporate developer Linux distro with multiple kernels?

    - by Garen
    At work we have Linux users who understandably prefer using Ubuntu. Problem is, we also have developer tools that only work with 'officially' supported Linux distributions that use much older 2.6.18 based kernels. (And even if they worked with newer ones, the vendors could always say they won't "support" the software unless it's on one of their 'officially' supported platforms.) We could of course just tell them to use CentOS or something else 2.6.18-based, and I'm sure their response would be something like: "you can take Ubuntu from our cold, dead hands." :) Which brings to me some questions--is there any good/easy/recommended way to run something like Ubuntu as a host VM and Centos 5.x as a guest OS (with which system--Xen,KVM,VMWare, ...?), and then roll that into our own custom internal distribution that could be easily installed? KVM looks like a good high-performance option just recently included in RHEL 5.4, but if hardware support for virtualization like Intel-VT or AMD-V is necessary, then I'd guess only those folks with fairly new PCs will be able to do it. Would be very interested to hear how anyone else has addressed this kind issue. EDIT: The target audience / users of this kind of system would be developers, each one needs to run locally licensed commercial software, so building out some separate beefy central machines isn't an option unfortunately due to license restrictions. Even if that weren't the case, a couple developers could quickly eat up the resources with parallel builds. :) Ideally, I was hoping there was some step-by-step guide out there to build your own pre-built distribution that had e.g. CentOS 5.x and Ubuntu Desktop as a guest.

    I'm a newbie and need some help with an iPhone App running on the Simulator. The app works fine running with Build & Run or Build & Run - breakpoints off, but blows when running with Build & Debug - Breakpoints on. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. • Visual Studio 2013 Static Code Analysis in depth: What? When and How?

    - by Hosam Kamel
    In this post I'll illustrate in details the following points What is static code analysis? When to use? Supported platforms Supported Visual Studio versions How to use Run Code Analysis Manually Run Code Analysis Automatically Run Code Analysis while check-in source code to TFS version control (TFSVC) Run Code Analysis as part of Team Build Understand the Code Analysis results & learn how to fix them Create your custom rule set Q & A References What is static Rule analysis? Static Code Analysis feature of Visual Studio performs static code analysis on code to help developers identify potential design, globalization, interoperability, performance, security, and a lot of other categories of potential problems according to Microsoft's rules that mainly targets best practices in writing code, and there is a large set of those rules included with Visual Studio grouped into different categorized targeting specific coding issues like security, design, Interoperability, globalizations and others. Static here means analyzing the source code without executing it and this type of analysis can be performed through automated tools (like Visual Studio 2013 Code Analysis Tool) or manually through Code Review which already supported in Visual Studio 2012 and 2013 (check Using Code Review to Improve Quality video on Channel9) There is also Dynamic analysis which performed on executing programs using software testing techniques such as Code Coverage for example. When to use? Running Code analysis tool at regular intervals during your development process can enhance the quality of your software, examines your code for a set of common defects and violations is always a good programming practice. Adding that Code analysis can also find defects in your code that are difficult to discover through testing allowing you to achieve first level quality gate for you application during development phase before you release it to the testing team. Supported platforms .NET Framework, native (C and C++) Database applications. Support Visual Studio versions All version of Visual Studio starting Visual Studio 2013 (except Visual Studio Test Professional) check Feature comparisons Create and modify a custom rule set required Visual Studio Premium or Ultimate. How to use? Code Analysis can be run manually at any time from within the Visual Studio IDE, or even setup to automatically run as part of a Team Build or check-in policy for Team Foundation Server. Run Code Analysis Manually To run code analysis manually on a project, on the Analyze menu, click Run Code Analysis on your project or simply right click on the project name on the Solution Explorer choose Run Code Analysis from the context menu Run Code Analysis Automatically To run code analysis each time that you build a project, you select Enable Code Analysis on Build on the project's Property Page Run Code Analysis while check-in source code to TFS version control (TFSVC) Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) provides a way for organizations to enforce practices that lead to better code and more efficient group development through Check-in policies which are rules that are set at the team project level and enforced on developer computers before code is allowed to be checked in. (This is available only if you're using Team Foundation Server) Require permissions on Team Foundation Server: you must have the Edit project-level information permission set to Allow typically your account must be part of Project Administrators, Project Collection Administrators, for more information about Team Foundation permissions check http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252587(v=vs.120).aspx In Team Explorer, right-click the team project name, point to Team Project Settings, and then click Source Control. In the Source Control dialog box, select the Check-in Policy tab. Click Add to create a new check-in policy. Double-click the existing Code Analysis item in the Policy Type list to change the policy. Check or Uncheck the policy option based on the configurations you need to perform as illustrated below: Enforce check-in to only contain files that are part of current solution: code analysis can run only on files specified in solution and project configuration files. This policy guarantees that all code that is part of a solution is analyzed. Enforce C/C++ Code Analysis (/analyze): Requires that all C or C++ projects be built with the /analyze compiler option to run code analysis before they can be checked in. Enforce Code Analysis for Managed Code: Requires that all managed projects run code analysis and build before they can be checked in. Check Code analysis rule set reference on MSDN What is Rule Set? Rule Set is a group of code analysis rules like the example below where Microsoft.Design is the rule set name where "Do not declare static members on generic types" is the code analysis rule Once you configured the Analysis rule the policy will be enabled for all the team member in this project whenever a team member check-in any source code to the TFSVC the policy section will highlight the Code Analysis policy as below TFS is a very extensible platform so you can simply implement your own custom Code Analysis Check-in policy, check this link for more details http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd492668.aspx but you have to be aware also about compatibility between different TFS versions check http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb907157.aspx Run Code Analysis as part of Team Build With Team Foundation Build (TFBuild), you can create and manage build processes that automatically compile and test your applications, and perform other important functions. Code Analysis can be enabled in the Build Definition file by selecting the correct value for the build process parameter "Perform Code Analysis" Once configure, Kick-off your build definition to queue a new build, Code Analysis will run as part of build workflow and you will be able to see code analysis warning as part of build report Understand the Code Analysis results & learn how to fix them Now after you went through Code Analysis configurations and the different ways of running it, we will go through the Code Analysis result how to understand them and how to resolve them. Code Analysis window in Visual Studio will show all the analysis results based on the rule sets you configured in the project file properties, let's dig deep into what each result item contains: 1 Check ID The unique identifier for the rule. CheckId and Category are used for in-source suppression of a warning.       2 Title The title of warning message       3 Description A description of the problem or suggested fix 4 File Name File name and the line of code number which violate the code analysis rule set 5 Category The code analysis category for this error 6 Warning /Error Depend on how you configure it in the rule set the default is Warning level 7 Action Copy: copy the warning information to the clipboard Create Work Item: If you're connected to Team Foundation Server you can create a work item most probably you may create a Task or Bug and assign it for a developer to fix certain code analysis warning Suppress Message: There are times when you might decide not to fix a code analysis warning. You might decide that resolving the warning requires too much recoding in relation to the probability that the issue will arise in any real-world implementation of your code. Or you might believe that the analysis that is used in the warning is inappropriate for the particular context. You can suppress individual warnings so that they no longer appear in the Code Analysis window. Two options available: In Source inserts a SuppressMessage attribute in the source file above the method that generated the warning. This makes the suppression more discoverable. In Suppression File adds a SuppressMessage attribute to the GlobalSuppressions.cs file of the project. This can make the management of suppressions easier. Note that the SuppressMessage attribute added to GlobalSuppression.cs also targets the method that generated the warning. It does not suppress the warning globally.       Visual Studio makes it very easy to fix Code analysis warning, all you have to do is clicking on the Check Id hyperlink if you are not aware how to fix the warring and you'll be directed to MSDN online or local copy based on the configuration you did while installing Visual Studio and you will find all the information about the warring including how to fix it. Create a Custom Code Analysis Rule Set The Microsoft standard rule sets provide groups of rules that are organized by function and depth. For example, the Microsoft Basic Design Guidelines Rules and the Microsoft Extended Design Guidelines Rules contain rules that focus on usability and maintainability issues, with added emphasis on naming rules in the Extended rule set, you can create and modify a custom rule set to meet specific project needs associated with code analysis. To create a custom rule set, you open one or more standard rule sets in the rule set editor. Create and modify a custom rule set required Visual Studio Premium or Ultimate. You can check How to: Create a Custom Rule Set on MSDN for more details http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd264974.aspx Q & A Visual Studio static code analysis vs. FxCop vs. StyleCpp http://www.excella.com/blog/stylecop-vs-fxcop-difference-between-code-analysis-tools/ Code Analysis for SharePoint Apps and SPDisposeCheck? • Anunciando: Grandes Melhorias para Web Sites da Windows Azure

    - by Leniel Macaferi
    Estou animado para anunciar algumas grandes melhorias para os Web Sites da Windows Azure que introduzimos no início deste verão.  As melhorias de hoje incluem: uma nova opção de hospedagem adaptável compartilhada de baixo custo, suporte a domínios personalizados para websites hospedados em modo compartilhado ou em modo reservado usando registros CNAME e A-Records (o último permitindo naked domains), suporte para deployment contínuo usando tanto CodePlex e GitHub, e a extensibilidade FastCGI. Todas essas melhorias estão agora online em produção e disponíveis para serem usadas imediatamente. Nova Camada Escalonável "Compartilhada" A Windows Azure permite que você implante e hospede até 10 websites em um ambiente gratuito e compartilhado com múltiplas aplicações. Você pode começar a desenvolver e testar websites sem nenhum custo usando este modo compartilhado (gratuito). O modo compartilhado suporta a capacidade de executar sites que servem até 165MB/dia de conteúdo (5GB/mês). Todas as capacidades que introduzimos em Junho com esta camada gratuita permanecem inalteradas com a atualização de hoje. Começando com o lançamento de hoje, você pode agora aumentar elasticamente seu website para além desta capacidade usando uma nova opção "shared" (compartilhada) de baixo custo (a qual estamos apresentando hoje), bem como pode usar a opção "reserved instance" (instância reservada) - a qual suportamos desde Junho. Aumentar a capacidade de qualquer um desses modos é fácil. Basta clicar na aba "scale" (aumentar a capacidade) do seu website dentro do Portal da Windows Azure, escolher a opção de modo de hospedagem que você deseja usar com ele, e clicar no botão "Salvar". Mudanças levam apenas alguns segundos para serem aplicadas e não requerem nenhum código para serem alteradas e também não requerem que a aplicação seja reimplantada/reinstalada: A seguir estão mais alguns detalhes sobre a nova opção "shared" (compartilhada), bem como a opção existente "reserved" (reservada): Modo Compartilhado Com o lançamento de hoje, estamos introduzindo um novo modo de hospedagem de baixo custo "compartilhado" para Web Sites da Windows Azure. Um website em execução no modo compartilhado é implantado/instalado em um ambiente de hospedagem compartilhado com várias outras aplicações. Ao contrário da opção de modo free (gratuito), um web-site no modo compartilhado não tem quotas/limite máximo para a quantidade de largura de banda que o mesmo pode servir. Os primeiros 5 GB/mês de banda que você servir com uma website compartilhado é grátis, e então você passará a pagar a taxa padrão "pay as you go" (pague pelo que utilizar) da largura de banda de saída da Windows Azure quando a banda de saída ultrapassar os 5 GB. Um website em execução no modo compartilhado agora também suporta a capacidade de mapear múltiplos nomes de domínio DNS personalizados, usando ambos CNAMEs e A-records para tanto. O novo suporte A-record que estamos introduzindo com o lançamento de hoje oferece a possibilidade para você suportar "naked domains" (domínios nús - sem o www) com seus web-sites (por exemplo, http://microsoft.com além de http://www.microsoft.com). Nós também, no futuro, permitiremos SSL baseada em SNI como um recurso nativo nos websites que rodam em modo compartilhado (esta funcionalidade não é suportada com o lançamento de hoje - mas chagará mais tarde ainda este ano, para ambos as opções de hospedagem - compartilhada e reservada). Você paga por um website no modo compartilhado utilizando o modelo padrão "pay as you go" que suportamos com outros recursos da Windows Azure (ou seja, sem custos iniciais, e você só paga pelas horas nas quais o recurso estiver ativo). Um web-site em execução no modo compartilhado custa apenas 1,3 centavos/hora durante este período de preview (isso dá uma média de $ 9.36/mês ou R$ 19,00/mês - dólar a R$ 2,03 em 17-Setembro-2012) Modo Reservado Além de executar sites em modo compartilhado, também suportamos a execução dos mesmos dentro de uma instância reservada. Quando rodando em modo de instância reservada, seus sites terão a garantia de serem executados de maneira isolada dentro de sua própria VM (virtual machine - máquina virtual) Pequena, Média ou Grande (o que significa que, nenhum outro cliente da Windows azure terá suas aplicações sendo executadas dentro de sua VM. Somente as suas aplicações). Você pode executar qualquer número de websites dentro de uma máquina virtual, e não existem quotas para limites de CPU ou memória. Você pode executar seus sites usando uma única VM de instância reservada, ou pode aumentar a capacidade tendo várias instâncias (por exemplo, 2 VMs de médio porte, etc.). Dimensionar para cima ou para baixo é fácil - basta selecionar a VM da instância "reservada" dentro da aba "scale" no Portal da Windows Azure, escolher o tamanho da VM que você quer, o número de instâncias que você deseja executar e clicar em salvar. As alterações têm efeito em segundos: Ao contrário do modo compartilhado, não há custo por site quando se roda no modo reservado. Em vez disso, você só paga pelas instâncias de VMs reservadas que você usar - e você pode executar qualquer número de websites que você quiser dentro delas, sem custo adicional (por exemplo, você pode executar um único site dentro de uma instância de VM reservada ou 100 websites dentro dela com o mesmo custo). VMs de instâncias reservadas têm um custo inicial de $ 8 cents/hora ou R$ 16 centavos/hora para uma pequena VM reservada. Dimensionamento Elástico para Cima/para Baixo Os Web Sites da Windows Azure permitem que você dimensione para cima ou para baixo a sua capacidade dentro de segundos. Isso permite que você implante um site usando a opção de modo compartilhado, para começar, e em seguida, dinamicamente aumente a capacidade usando a opção de modo reservado somente quando você precisar - sem que você tenha que alterar qualquer código ou reimplantar sua aplicação. Se o tráfego do seu site diminuir, você pode diminuir o número de instâncias reservadas que você estiver usando, ou voltar para a camada de modo compartilhado - tudo em segundos e sem ter que mudar o código, reimplantar a aplicação ou ajustar os mapeamentos de DNS. Você também pode usar o "Dashboard" (Painel de Controle) dentro do Portal da Windows Azure para facilmente monitorar a carga do seu site em tempo real (ele mostra não apenas as solicitações/segundo e a largura de banda consumida, mas também estatísticas como a utilização de CPU e memória). Devido ao modelo de preços "pay as you go" da Windows Azure, você só paga a capacidade de computação que você usar em uma determinada hora. Assim, se o seu site está funcionando a maior parte do mês em modo compartilhado (a $ 1.3 cents/hora ou R$ 2,64 centavos/hora), mas há um final de semana em que ele fica muito popular e você decide aumentar sua capacidade colocando-o em modo reservado para que seja executado em sua própria VM dedicada (a $ 8 cents/hora ou R$ 16 centavos/hora), você só terá que pagar os centavos/hora adicionais para as horas em que o site estiver sendo executado no modo reservado. Você não precisa pagar nenhum custo inicial para habilitar isso, e uma vez que você retornar seu site para o modo compartilhado, você voltará a pagar $ 1.3 cents/hora ou R$ 2,64 centavos/hora). Isto faz com que essa opção seja super flexível e de baixo custo. Suporte Melhorado para Domínio Personalizado Web sites em execução no modo "compartilhado" ou no modo "reservado" suportam a habilidade de terem nomes personalizados (host names) associados a eles (por exemplo www.mysitename.com). Você pode associar múltiplos domínios personalizados para cada Web Site da Windows Azure. Com o lançamento de hoje estamos introduzindo suporte para registros A-Records (um recurso muito pedido pelos usuários). Com o suporte a A-Record, agora você pode associar domínios 'naked' ao seu Web Site da Windows Azure - ou seja, em vez de ter que usar www.mysitename.com você pode simplesmente usar mysitename.com (sem o prefixo www). Tendo em vista que você pode mapear vários domínios para um único site, você pode, opcionalmente, permitir ambos domínios (com www e a versão 'naked') para um site (e então usar uma regra de reescrita de URL/redirecionamento (em Inglês) para evitar problemas de SEO). Nós também melhoramos a interface do usuário para o gerenciamento de domínios personalizados dentro do Portal da Windows Azure como parte do lançamento de hoje. Clicando no botão "Manage Domains" (Gerenciar Domínios) na bandeja na parte inferior do portal agora traz uma interface de usuário personalizada que torna fácil gerenciar/configurar os domínios: Como parte dessa atualização nós também tornamos significativamente mais suave/mais fácil validar a posse de domínios personalizados, e também tornamos mais fácil alternar entre sites/domínios existentes para Web Sites da Windows Azure, sem que o website fique fora do ar. Suporte a Deployment (Implantação) contínua com Git e CodePlex ou GitHub Um dos recursos mais populares que lançamos no início deste verão foi o suporte para a publicação de sites diretamente para a Windows Azure usando sistemas de controle de código como TFS e Git. Esse recurso fornece uma maneira muito poderosa para gerenciar as implantações/instalações da aplicação usando controle de código. É realmente fácil ativar este recurso através da página do dashboard de um web site: A opção TFS que lançamos no início deste verão oferece uma solução de implantação contínua muito rica que permite automatizar os builds e a execução de testes unitários a cada vez que você atualizar o repositório do seu website, e em seguida, se os testes forem bem sucedidos, a aplicação é automaticamente publicada/implantada na Windows Azure. Com o lançamento de hoje, estamos expandindo nosso suporte Git para também permitir cenários de implantação contínua integrando esse suporte com projetos hospedados no CodePlex e no GitHub. Este suporte está habilitado para todos os web-sites (incluindo os que usam o modo "free" (gratuito)). A partir de hoje, quando você escolher o link "Set up Git publishing" (Configurar publicação Git) na página do dashboard de um website, você verá duas opções adicionais quando a publicação baseada em Git estiver habilitada para o web-site: Você pode clicar em qualquer um dos links "Deploy from my CodePlex project" (Implantar a partir do meu projeto no CodePlex) ou "Deploy from my GitHub project"  (Implantar a partir do meu projeto no GitHub) para seguir um simples passo a passo para configurar uma conexão entre o seu website e um repositório de código que você hospeda no CodePlex ou no GitHub. Uma vez que essa conexão é estabelecida, o CodePlex ou o GitHub automaticamente notificará a Windows Azure a cada vez que um checkin ocorrer. Isso fará com que a Windows Azure faça o download do código e compile/implante a nova versão da sua aplicação automaticamente.  Os dois vídeos a seguir (em Inglês) mostram quão fácil é permitir esse fluxo de trabalho ao implantar uma app inicial e logo em seguida fazer uma alteração na mesma: Habilitando Implantação Contínua com os Websites da Windows Azure e CodePlex (2 minutos) Habilitando Implantação Contínua com os Websites da Windows Azure e GitHub (2 minutos) Esta abordagem permite um fluxo de trabalho de implantação contínua realmente limpo, e torna muito mais fácil suportar um ambiente de desenvolvimento em equipe usando Git: Nota: o lançamento de hoje suporta estabelecer conexões com repositórios públicos do GitHub/CodePlex. Suporte para repositórios privados será habitado em poucas semanas. Suporte para Múltiplos Branches (Ramos de Desenvolvimento) Anteriormente, nós somente suportávamos implantar o código que estava localizado no branch 'master' do repositório Git. Muitas vezes, porém, os desenvolvedores querem implantar a partir de branches alternativos (por exemplo, um branch de teste ou um branch com uma versão futura da aplicação). Este é agora um cenário suportado - tanto com projetos locais baseados no git, bem como com projetos ligados ao CodePlex ou GitHub. Isto permite uma variedade de cenários úteis. Por exemplo, agora você pode ter dois web-sites - um em "produção" e um outro para "testes" - ambos ligados ao mesmo repositório no CodePlex ou no GitHub. Você pode configurar um dos websites de forma que ele sempre baixe o que estiver presente no branch master, e que o outro website sempre baixe o que estiver no branch de testes. Isto permite uma maneira muito limpa para habilitar o teste final de seu site antes que ele entre em produção. Este vídeo de 1 minuto (em Inglês) demonstra como configurar qual branch usar com um web-site. Resumo Os recursos mostrados acima estão agora ao vivo em produção e disponíveis para uso imediato. Se você ainda não tem uma conta da Windows Azure, você pode inscrever-se em um teste gratuito para começar a usar estes recursos hoje mesmo. Visite o O Centro de Desenvolvedores da Windows Azure (em Inglês) para saber mais sobre como criar aplicações para serem usadas na nuvem. Nós teremos ainda mais novos recursos e melhorias chegando nas próximas semanas - incluindo suporte para os recentes lançamentos do Windows Server 2012 e .NET 4.5 (habilitaremos novas imagens de web e work roles com o Windows Server 2012 e NET 4.5 no próximo mês). Fique de olho no meu blog para detalhes assim que esses novos recursos ficarem disponíveis. Espero que ajude, - Scott P.S. • HTML5 web storage: can different websites overwrite each other’s data on a user’s computer?

    - by Deepak Mahalingam
    I have a few questions regarding the concept of HTML5 storage. I went through the w3c specification, books and tutorials on the same, but still I am a bit unclear about certain concepts: Assume that I access Website A. Some JavaScript runs in my browser that sets a key value pair, say ('username','deepak'). Then I access Website B which also adds a key,value pair in the localstorage as ('username','mahalingam'). How will they both be differentiated? Will Website B override the value set by website A in my localstorage? How can we ensure that a website would not erase all of my localstorage?

  • C++ virtual functions.Problem with vtable

    - by adivasile
    I'm doing a little project in C++ and I've come into some problems regarding virtual functions. I have a base class with some virtual functions: #ifndef COLLISIONSHAPE_H_ #define COLLISIONSHAPE_H_ namespace domino { class CollisionShape : public DominoItem { public: // CONSTRUCTOR //------------------------------------------------- // SETTERS //------------------------------------------------- // GETTERS //------------------------------------------------- virtual void GetRadius() = 0; virtual void GetPosition() = 0; virtual void GetGrowth(CollisionShape* other) = 0; virtual void GetSceneNode(); // OTHER //------------------------------------------------- virtual bool overlaps(CollisionShape* shape) = 0; }; } #endif /* COLLISIONSHAPE_H_ */ and a SphereShape class which extends CollisionShape and implements the methods above /* SphereShape.h */ #ifndef SPHERESHAPE_H_ #define SPHERESHAPE_H_ #include "CollisionShape.h" namespace domino { class SphereShape : public CollisionShape { public: // CONSTRUCTOR //------------------------------------------------- SphereShape(); SphereShape(CollisionShape* shape1, CollisionShape* shape2); // DESTRUCTOR //------------------------------------------------- ~SphereShape(); // SETTERS //------------------------------------------------- void SetPosition(); void SetRadius(); // GETTERS //------------------------------------------------- cl_float GetRadius(); cl_float3 GetPosition(); SceneNode* GetSceneNode(); cl_float GetGrowth(CollisionShape* other); // OTHER //------------------------------------------------- bool overlaps(CollisionShape* shape); }; } #endif /* SPHERESHAPE_H_ */ and the .cpp file: /*SphereShape.cpp*/ #include "SphereShape.h" #define max(a,b) (a>b?a:b) namespace domino { // CONSTRUCTOR //------------------------------------------------- SphereShape::SphereShape(CollisionShape* shape1, CollisionShape* shape2) { } // DESTRUCTOR //------------------------------------------------- SphereShape::~SphereShape() { } // SETTERS //------------------------------------------------- void SphereShape::SetPosition() { } void SphereShape::SetRadius() { } // GETTERS //------------------------------------------------- void SphereShape::GetRadius() { } void SphereShape::GetPosition() { } void SphereShape::GetSceneNode() { } void SphereShape::GetGrowth(CollisionShape* other) { } // OTHER //------------------------------------------------- bool SphereShape::overlaps(CollisionShape* shape) { return true; } } These classes, along some other get compiled into a shared library. I'm using gcc version 4.6.0 20110530 (Red Hat 4.6.0-9) (GCC) Later edit: I'm really sorry, but I wrote the code by hand directly here. I have defined the return types in the code. I apologize to the 2 people that answered below. I have to mention that I am a beginner at using more complex project layouts in C++.By this I mean more complex makefiles, shared libraries, stuff like that.

  • Azure, don't give me multiple VMs, give me one elastic VM

    - by FransBouma
    Yesterday, Microsoft revealed new major features for Windows Azure (see ScottGu's post). It all looks shiny and great, but after reading most of the material describing the new features, I still find the overall idea behind all of it flawed: why should I care on how much VMs my web app runs? Isn't that a problem to solve for the Windows Azure engineers / software? And what if I need the file system, why can't I simply get a virtual filesystem ? To illustrate my point, let's use a real example: a product website with a customer system/database and next to it a support site with accompanying database. Both are written in .NET, using ASP.NET and use a SQL Server database each. The product website offers files to download by customers, very simple. You have a couple of options to host these websites: Buy a server, place it in a rack at an ISP and run the sites on that server Use 'shared hosting' with an ISP, which means your sites' appdomains are running on the same machine, as well as the files stored, and the databases are hosted in the same server as the other shared databases. Hire a VM, install your OS of choice at an ISP, and host the sites on that VM, basically the same as the first option, except you don't have a physical server At some cloud-vendor, either host the sites 'shared' or in a VM. See above. With all of those options, scalability is a problem, even the cloud-based ones, though not due to the same reasons: The physical server solution has the obvious problem that if you need more power, you need to buy a bigger server or more servers which requires you to add replication and other overhead Shared hosting solutions are almost always capped on memory usage / traffic and database size: if your sites get too big, you have to move out of the shared hosting environment and start over with one of the other solutions The VM solution, be it a VM at an ISP or 'in the cloud' at e.g. Windows Azure or Amazon, in theory allows scaling out by simply instantiating more VMs, however that too introduces the same overhead problems as with the physical servers: suddenly more than 1 instance runs your sites. If a cloud vendor offers its services in the form of VMs, you won't gain much over having a VM at some ISP: the main problems you have to work around are still there: when you spin up more than one VM, your application must be completely stateless at any moment, including the DB sub system, because what's in memory in instance 1 might not be in memory in instance 2. This might sounds trivial but it's not. A lot of the websites out there started rather small: they were perfectly runnable on a single machine with normal memory and CPU power. After all, you don't need a big machine to run a website with even thousands of users a day. Moving these sites to a multi-VM environment will cause a problem: all the in-memory state they use, all the multi-page transitions they use while keeping state across the transition, they can't do that anymore like they did that on a single machine: state is something of the past, you have to store every byte of state in either a DB or in a viewstate or in a cookie somewhere so with the next request, all state information is available through the request, as nothing is kept in-memory. Our example uses a bunch of files in a file system. Using multiple VMs will require that these files move to a cloud storage system which is mounted in each VM so we don't have to store the files on each VM. This might require different file paths, but this change should be minor. What's perhaps less minor is the maintenance procedure in place on the new type of cloud storage used: instead of ftp-ing into a VM, you might have to update the files using different ways / tools. All in all this makes moving an existing website which was written for an environment that's based around a VM (namely .NET with its CLR) overly cumbersome and problematic: it forces you to refactor your website system to be able to be used 'in the cloud', which is caused by the limited way how e.g. Windows Azure offers its cloud services: in blocks of VMs. Offer a scalable, flexible VM which extends with my needs Instead, cloud vendors should offer simply one VM to me. On that VM I run the websites, store my DB and my files. As it's a virtual machine, how this machine is actually ran on physical hardware (e.g. partitioned), I don't care, as that's the problem for the cloud vendor to solve. If I need more resources, e.g. I have more traffic to my server, way more visitors per day, the VM stretches, like I bought a bigger box. This frees me from the problem which comes with multiple VMs: I don't have any refactoring to do at all: I can simply build my website as if it runs on my local hardware server, upload it to the VM offered by the cloud vendor, install it on the VM and I'm done. "But that might require changes to windows!" Yes, but Microsoft is Windows. Windows Azure is their service, they can make whatever change to what they offer to make it look like it's windows. Yet, they're stuck, like Amazon, in thinking in VMs, which forces developers to 'think ahead' and gamble whether they would need to migrate to a cloud with multiple VMs in the future or not. Which comes down to: gamble whether they should invest time in code / architecture which they might never need. (YAGNI anyone?) So the VM we're talking about, is that a low-level VM which runs a guest OS, or is that VM a different kind of VM? The flexible VM: .NET's CLR ? My example websites are ASP.NET based, which means they run inside a .NET appdomain, on the .NET CLR, which is a VM. The only physical OS resource the sites need is the file system, however this too is accessed through .NET. In short: all the websites see is what .NET allows the websites to see, the world as the websites know it is what .NET shows them and lets them access. How the .NET appdomain is run physically, that's the concern of .NET, not mine. This begs the question why Windows Azure doesn't offer virtual appdomains? Or better: .NET environments which look like one machine but could be physically multiple machines. In such an environment, no change has to be made to the websites to migrate them from a local machine or own server to the cloud to get proper scaling: the .NET VM will simply scale with the need: more memory needed, more CPU power needed, it stretches. What it offers to the application running inside the appdomain is simply increasing, but not fragmented: all resources are available to the application: this means that the problem of how to scale is back to where it should be: with the cloud vendor. "Yeah, great, but what about the databases?" The .NET application communicates with the database server through a .NET ADO.NET provider. Where the database is located is not a problem of the appdomain: the ADO.NET provider has to solve that. I.o.w.: we can host the databases in an environment which offers itself as a single resource and is accessible through one connection string without replication overhead on the outside, and use that environment inside the .NET VM as if it was a single DB. But what about memory replication and other problems? This environment isn't simple, at least not for the cloud vendor. But it is simple for the customer who wants to run his sites in that cloud: no work needed. No refactoring needed of existing code. Upload it, run it. Perhaps I'm dreaming and what I described above isn't possible. Yet, I think if cloud vendors don't move into that direction, what they're offering isn't interesting: it doesn't solve a problem at all, it simply offers a way to instantiate more VMs with the guest OS of choice at the cost of me needing to refactor my website code so it can run in the straight jacket form factor dictated by the cloud vendor. Let's not kid ourselves here: most of us developers will never build a website which needs a truck load of VMs to run it: almost all websites created by developers can run on just a few VMs at most. Yet, the most expensive change is right at the start: moving from one to two VMs. As soon as you have refactored your website code to run across multiple VMs, adding another one is just as easy as clicking a mouse button. But that first step, that's the problem here and as it's right there at the beginning of scaling the website, it's particularly strange that cloud vendors refuse to solve that problem and leave it to the developers to solve that. Which makes migrating 'to the cloud' particularly expensive.

  • Fixing up Configurations in BizTalk Solution Files

    - by Elton Stoneman
    Just a quick one this, but useful for mature BizTalk solutions, where over time the configuration settings can get confused, meaning Debug configurations building in Release mode, or Deployment configurations building in Development mode. That can cause issues in the build which aren't obvious, so it's good to fix up the configurations. It's time-consuming in VS or in a text editor, so this bit of PowerShell may come in useful - just substitute your own solution path in the $path variable: $path = 'C:\x\y\z\x.y.z.Integration.sln' $backupPath = [System.String]::Format('{0}.bak', $path) [System.IO.File]::Copy($path, $backupPath, $True) $sln = [System.IO.File]::ReadAllText($path)   $sln = $sln.Replace('.Debug|.NET.Build.0 = Deployment|.NET', '.Debug|.NET.Build.0 = Development|.NET') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Debug|.NET.Deploy.0 = Deployment|.NET', '.Debug|.NET.Deploy.0 = Development|.NET') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Debug|Any CPU.ActiveCfg = Deployment|.NET', '.Debug|Any CPU.ActiveCfg = Development|.NET') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Deployment|.NET.ActiveCfg = Debug|Any CPU', '.Deployment|.NET.ActiveCfg = Release|Any CPU') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Deployment|Any CPU.ActiveCfg = Debug|Any CPU', '.Deployment|Any CPU.ActiveCfg = Release|Any CPU') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Deployment|Any CPU.Build.0 = Debug|Any CPU', '.Deployment|Any CPU.Build.0 = Release|Any CPU') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Deployment|Mixed Platforms.ActiveCfg = Debug|Any CPU', '.Deployment|Mixed Platforms.ActiveCfg = Release|Any CPU') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Deployment|Mixed Platforms.Build.0 = Debug|Any CPU', '.Deployment|Mixed Platforms.Build.0 = Release|Any CPU') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Deployment|.NET.ActiveCfg = Debug|Any CPU', '.Deployment|.NET.ActiveCfg = Release|Any CPU') $sln = $sln.Replace('.Debug|.NET.ActiveCfg = Deployment|.NET', '.Debug|.NET.ActiveCfg = Development|.NET')   [System.IO.File]::WriteAllText($path, $sln) The script creates a backup of the solution file first, and then fixes up all the configs to use the correct builds. It's a simple search and replace list, so if there are any patterns that need to be added let me know and I'll update the script. A RegEx replace would be neater, but when it comes to hacking solution files, I prefer the conservative approach of knowing exactly what you're changing.

  • Is there a solution for deploying IIS websites that's similar to Capistrano?

    - by Matt Ephraim
    Capistrano is a great solution for building scripts that automatically deploy a website and/or a database. But, it's also very *nix centric, and from I've read it would probably be more trouble than it's worth to get it working with a Windows server. Is there a similar solution that would allow me to deploy an ASP.Net website to an IIS server and a SQL Server database? What I'm looking for is something that would allow the same kind of flexibility that Capistrano allows, as far customizing how I want the site to be deployed, what version control system I want to pull from, how it will handle rollbacks to a previous version of a site, etc. So far, I haven't been able to find a free solution that has the same sort of functionality that Capistrano has.

  • Hudson.. another Continuous Integration tool

    - by Narendra Tiwari
    In my previous posts I discussed about Cruisecontrol.net and its legacy support to .Net development. Hudson  is yet another continuous integration tool. Hudson is also free like CCNet and built in java. - CCNet has its legacy support to .Net applications where as Hudson can be easily configured on both the environments (.Net and Java). - One of the major differences in CCNet and Hudson is the richer GUI of Hudson provide user interactive screens for project configuration where as in CCNet we have to play with a few xml configuration files. Both the tools are capable of providing basic features of continuous integration e.g.:- - Source Control configuration - Code Compilation/Build - Ad hoc plugin tools to be configured along with compilation Support for adhoc tools seems to be bigger with CCNet e.g. There are almost every source control plugin available with CCNet where as Hudson has support for limited source control servers. Basically there is an interseting point to see is that there are 2 major partsof whole CI system one performed by build tool and rest. Build tool takes care of all adhoc plugin tools  so no matter if CI tool does not have plugin for that tool if thet tools provides command line support that can be configured in build tool and that build tool is then configured with CI tool inturn. For example if I have a build script configured in MSBuild and CCNet can be easily switched to Hudson. Here we need not to change anything in build script we just need to configure MSBuild on Hudson and pass the path of script file and thats it... all is same. • Rich Text Editor (YUI Simple Text Editor used) not sending data to next page

    - by Aman Chhabra

  • Building iPhone static library for armv6 and armv7 that includes another static library

    - by Martijn Thé
    Hi, I have an Xcode project that has a "master" static library target, that includes/links to a bunch of other static libraries from other Xcode projects. When building the master library target for "Optimized (armv6 armv7)", an error occurs in the last phase, during the CreateUniversalBinary step. For each .o file of the libraries that is included by the master library, the following error is reported (for example, the FBConnectGlobal.o file): warning for architecture: armv6 same member name (FBConnectGlobal.o) in output file used for input files: /Developer_Beta/Builds/MTToolbox/MTToolbox.build/Debug-iphoneos/MTToolbox.build/Objects-normal/armv6/libMTToolbox.a(FBConnectGlobal.o) and: /Developer_Beta/Builds/MTToolbox/MTToolbox.build/Debug-iphoneos/MTToolbox.build/Objects-normal/armv7/libMTToolbox.a(FBConnectGlobal.o) due to use of basename, truncation and blank padding In the end, Xcode tells that the build has succeeded. However, when using the final static library in an application project, it won't build because it finds duplicate symbols in one part of build (armv6) and misses symbols in the other part of the build (armv7). Any ideas how to fix this? M

  • Usage of putty in command line from Hudson

    - by kij
    Hi, I'm trying to use putty in command line from an hudson job. The command is the following one: putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USERNAME@SERVER_ADDR -pw PASS -m command.txt Where 'command.txt' is a shell script to execute in the server through SSH. If i launch this command from the Window command prompt, it works, the shell script is executed on the server machine. If i launch a build of the hudson job configured with this batch command, it doesn't work. The build is running... and running... and running.. without doing anything, and i have to stop it manually. So my question is: Is it possible to launch an external programm (i.e. putty) from an hudson job ? ps: i tried SSH plugin but... not a really good plugin (pre/post build, fail status of the commands launched not caught by hudson, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards. kij EDIT: These are the build logs: [workspace] $ cmd /c call C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\hudson7429256014041663539.bat C:\Hudson\jobs\Artifact deployer\workspace>putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USER@SERV_ADD -pw PASS -m com.txt Le build a été annulé Finished: ABORTED And the Hudson.err.log file at the same time (after a stop): 3 juin 2010 18:27:28 hudson.model.Run run INFO: Artifact deployer #6 aborted java.lang.InterruptedException at java.lang.ProcessImpl.waitFor(Native Method) at hudson.Proc$LocalProc.join(Proc.java:179) at hudson.Launcher$ProcStarter.join(Launcher.java:278) at hudson.tasks.CommandInterpreter.perform(CommandInterpreter.java:83) at hudson.tasks.CommandInterpreter.perform(CommandInterpreter.java:58) at hudson.tasks.BuildStepMonitor$1.perform(BuildStepMonitor.java:19) at hudson.model.AbstractBuild$AbstractRunner.perform(AbstractBuild.java:601) at hudson.model.Build$RunnerImpl.build(Build.java:174) at hudson.model.Build$RunnerImpl.doRun(Build.java:138) at hudson.model.AbstractBuild$AbstractRunner.run(AbstractBuild.java:416) at hudson.model.Run.run(Run.java:1241) at hudson.model.FreeStyleBuild.run(FreeStyleBuild.java:46) at hudson.model.ResourceController.execute(ResourceController.java:88) at hudson.model.Executor.run(Executor.java:124) My shell script only write "hello" in a "hello.txt" file on the server, and nothing is done.

  • How do I scrape information off ASP.NET websites when paging and JavaScript links are being used?

    - by Ian Roke
    I have been given a staff list which is supposed to be up to date but it doesn't match an intranet People Finder which is written in ASP.NET. As the information is sensitive I am not able to access the database the People Finder is using so the only way I can get at the information is by scraping the structure starting at the top brass at the top and then going through each tier in turn. Each person has a Staff number which then forms the URL http://intranet/peoplefinder/index.aspx?srn=ABC1234 and then all the people who report to them are listed underneth in the format <a id="gvEmployees_ctl03_lnkFullName" href="index.aspx?srn=ABC4321" target="_self"> where each URL indicates the Staff number and provides a link to their team. The trouble arises when the teams are big as paging is implemented in the GridView with an URL such as <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('gvEmployees','Page$2')">2</a>. How would I scrape this page, capture the SRN and other details along with the people who report to the person on all pages of the GridView then loop through each reportee and do the same process until the whole list is complete?

  • Javascript and webshop tracking/affiliate across websites, how to do?

    - by H4mm3rHead
    Hi, I have a small front end to a webshop. All customers that go through my website and buy an item from the webshop I get back 5% of the amount. I need to find a way af tracking the customers i forward from my webshop to the other webshop. And then get the webshop to reply to me when the purchase has been made. In my webshop i have made a small page: collect.aspx that requests and saves the values passed in the querystring, something like this pseudo code: string orderid = Request["orderid"]; string amount = Request["amount"]; ..save to database On the webshop i forward customers to i get to insert a javascript on the last page in the purchase flow. I have tried a lot of things but it seems that the only thing that works is to fool the browser into thinking im referring a javascript, like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://domain.com/mypage.aspx?orderid=4&amount=45/> I saw how other trackers did their bit, and this seems to be the general way of doing it. With this script however, i get all the orders, i only want to log those that belong tome, those who entered through my website. Here is my big problem, how to do this? I added a cookie when the user opens my page, and i want to check for this cookie again when the purchase page make the callback. It weems that i cant get the cookie from the browser when it makes the "" call. This is really buggin me now. Could anyone please tell me how this is generally done, this tracking. And what am i missing in regards to this cookie thing? All ideas on how to do this is very welcome.

  • stdexcept On Android

    - by David R.
    I'm trying to compile SoundTouch on Android. I started with this configure line: ./configure CPPFLAGS="-I/Volumes/android-build/mydroid/development/ndk/build/platforms/android-3/arch-arm/usr/include/" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-rpath-link=/Volumes/android-build/mydroid/development/ndk/build/platforms/android-3/arch-arm/usr/lib -L/Volumes/android-build/mydroid/development/ndk/build/platforms/android-3/arch-arm/usr/lib -nostdlib -lc" --host=arm-eabi --enable-shared=yes CFLAGS="-nostdlib -O3 -mandroid" host_alias=arm-eabi --no-create --no-recursion Because the Android NDK targets ARM, I also had to change the Makefile to remove the -msse2 flags to progress. When I run 'make', I get: /bin/sh ../../libtool --tag=CXX --mode=compile arm-eabi-g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../../include -I../../include -I/Volumes/android-build/mydroid/development/ndk/build/platforms/android-3/arch-arm/usr/include/ -O3 -fcheck-new -I../../include -g -O2 -MT FIRFilter.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/FIRFilter.Tpo -c -o FIRFilter.lo FIRFilter.cpp libtool: compile: arm-eabi-g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../../include -I../../include -I/Volumes/android-build/mydroid/development/ndk/build/platforms/android-3/arch-arm/usr/include/ -O3 -fcheck-new -I../../include -g -O2 -MT FIRFilter.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/FIRFilter.Tpo -c FIRFilter.cpp -o FIRFilter.o FIRFilter.cpp:46:21: error: stdexcept: No such file or directory FIRFilter.cpp: In member function 'virtual void soundtouch::FIRFilter::setCoefficients(const soundtouch::SAMPLETYPE*, uint, uint)': FIRFilter.cpp:177: error: 'runtime_error' is not a member of 'std' FIRFilter.cpp: In static member function 'static void* soundtouch::FIRFilter::operator new(size_t)': FIRFilter.cpp:225: error: 'runtime_error' is not a member of 'std' make[2]: *** [FIRFilter.lo] Error 1 make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 This isn't very surprising, since the -nostdlib flag was required. Android seems to have neither stdexcept nor stdlib. How can I get past this block of compiling SoundTouch? At a guess, there may be some flag I don't know about that I should use. I could refactor the code not to use stdexcept. There may be a way to pull in the original stdexcept source and reference that. I might be able to link to a precompiled stdexcept library.
