  • Joining remote paths in Java

    I'm using the FTP library provided by Apache (commons-net). I want to check if a file exists on the FTP server so I use the listFiles method of FTPClient: ftpClient.listFiles(remoteFileDir + "\\" + fileName); The current directory is the FTP server root directory. So, the value of remoteFileDir is a path relative to this root directory. My question concerns the merge between the remote directory path and the file name. What is the right way to do it? For a local file, I would do: File file = new File(remoteFileDir,fileName); but here it doesn't work since when I call file.getAbsolutePath(), I get an absolute path for the file in the local current directory which is not what I want. Also, I guess the merging has been done according to my local environment. PS: I looked at How are paths determined on a remote machines? but it doesn't help me. Thanks

    I have been searching all day and reading many tutorials and still I am confused. I am working on a project that has the following requirements as specified by the client (customer - not to be confused with client app): Connect to a remote server and verify that connection was successful. Connect to Web service on said server via SOAP. Authenticate with service using public key encryption Upon successful authentication, push a list of products and categories to a MSSQL database on remote server via the Web service. The client is a Winforms application written in C#. So far, I have created a WCF Service Application with separate services for the products and categories but I cannot figure the rest out. Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial or tutorials that cover these requirements? Many thanks in advance! Joe

  • Remote XP -> Win98 WMI Connection

    I've asked this on Technet, but because Win98 is no longer supported, I can't get any decent information, I was hoping there might be some "old school" developers here who might be able to help me. There is an application that we use a lot at work. This application should run 8am-5pm with as little interruption as possible. Most of the computers where this application runs are using Win98, and we have no way to upgrade them because we can't buy new hardware at the moment. My computer is running WinXP, so I thought of a way to make sure that this application runs all the time: The idea I had was to develop a Windows Service that executes a VBScript file that contains a WMI query to get a list of processes from each computer. Each list is then examined, and, depending on whether or not the target application is running, it will either do nothing, or it will execute another VBScript file that contains a WMI query that will be used to start the target application remotely. I later found a way to do this all with 1 VBScript file (see code below) My problem is in the remote connection to the target computers. I've installed WMI Core 1.5 on them, but every time I try the remote connection, I get the following: The remote server is unavailable or does not exist: 'GetObject' VBScript runtime error 800A01CE I've done some research, and all I've found is info about DCOM Config and Windows Firewall, but Win98 doesn't have either of these.     I need to create poster frames from videos hosted on Amazon S3 via ffmpeg. So is there a way to use the remote video file directly in ffmpeg command line like this: ffmpeg -i "http://bucket.s3.amazonaws.com/video.mp4" -ss 00:00:10 -vframes 1 -f image2 "image%03d.jpg" ffmpeg just returns: http://bucket.s3.amazonaws.com/video.mp4: I/O error occurred Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted. I also tried forcing ffmpeg to use the videos mp4 container for reading: ffmpeg -f mp4 -i "http://bucket.s3.amazonaws.com/video.mp4" ... But no luck. Wget this video from S3 and processing it locally works fine of course, as well as reading the file remotely from other 'standard' http servers. So I know that ffmpeg supports remote file reading, but why not on S3?

Gmail.com). i want once he click the submit button.a jQuery script check these login info on gmail.com and return back the result.they are wrong or working logins. and notify the user if it is wrong logins but if it is good working login info the form will submit. i don't know much jQuery but i am good with php. my search find that in order to do that i need to make cross-domain scripting by using php proxy between my jQuery script and the remote domain. i found also the simple php proxy. which looks great.but i dont know how to make the jQuery thing that connects all this together.

    I created a new branch using this command: hg branch new_branch After the first commit to the new branch, the default branch becomes inactive. If this is pushed the central repository will have only one head which belongs to the new branch. When my colleague pushes his commits on the default branch, he will get this error: pushing to ssh://... searching for changes abort: push creates new remote heads! (did you forget to merge? use push -f to force) Is there anything bad about forcing the push? Why are remote heads bad? How do you work remotely on separate branches and push to one repository?

    Is it possible to play a .m3u file streamed from a remote location through Flash Player in a browser? I have a player that loads and plays .mp3 files but also want to be able to play .m3u files. I have looked at the as3plsreader on google code but I think this is only for AIR and desktop files. anyone tried this or know where I should start looking for an answer? If I wasnt to use flash, what other ways could I get remote m3u files to play in a browser?

  • SharePoint Designer for Mac?

    I'm looking for some way of editing SharePoint ASPX pages on my Mac, using either a local text editor or some kind of remote-into-the-SP-server solution (like emacs with tramp). I know that Cyberduck has the ability to open WebDAV servers with NTLM authentication, but I've been unable to get that to work. So far, the only solution I've found is to use a remote desktop connection to a Windows Server, and run SharePoint Designer from there. Anyone know of either a better method, or a SharePoint Designer alternative?

    I am working on a website that uses a remote websites database to check for authentication (they are both share some database tables, but are separate website...) Right now I check the username and password against the remote websites account / member table, if there is a match I create a session. Questions: Is this secure? On authenticated pages I just check if a session of a specific type exists.Is it possible for someone to create an empty session or something that could bypass this? Is it possible to use Forms authentication with this setup? Right now if a user is authenticated I just get an object back with the username, email and id.

I want to avoid using cache because for this to work it must first load all the content. I was searching online for possible solution.     I'm writing an android app that has a standard activity, but also needs to monitor incoming/outgoing calls and texts at all times. In addition, the app needs to notify users of information once a day without having the activity open. The information it notifies users of is stored in a database, so communication with the activity is not necessary. I've been researching for a week and still can't decide how to go about doing this. My instinct tells me I need a remote service that has a constantly running broadcast receiver, but every remote service example I see is overly complicated. Could anyone help me better understand what steps I need to take? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I am searching out for solution to use any of the IDE's such as Netbeans/ eclipse to run .jsp and .java files from a remote machine using linux as the OS. The .java and .jsp files are on the server . So, an IDE which would let me access the server and let me update the files directly on the server would be great. I use SSH terminal to connect to the server to update and get files. Now, if there was an easier way to just have an access using IDE to the linux remote machine. that would be great.   • Heroku- was working before computer restarted, now can't push to remote repository- access denied

    My heroku/git set up was working perfectly until I restarted my computer. Now when I attempt to push any change to the remote repository I get the following error. ! Your key with fingerprint ..... is not authorized to access ..... fatal: Could not read from remote repository. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists. I tried looking at heroku keys:add but that didn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Remotely sync Time Machine drives

    I have an Xserve that runs Time Machine to a local terabyte drive. I also connected my external terabyte drive for a time period and had Time Machine use it to establish the seed data. I plan to take my drive back home with me (out of state) and have the Xserve return to using its local drive for Time Machine. But when I get back home, is there a way to keep my external drive's copy of the Time Machine Backups folder in sync with the Backups folder back on the Xserve? I'm wanting a full copy of the history (makes an awesome remote backup). I've thought of using the unix command rsync. In fact, that's how I had been doing it but I was looking the compactness that Time Machine was able to achieve. Thanks.

  • Unknown and strange RDP successful logins in EventViewer

    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with a valid IP, and recently I've found hundreds of unknown and strange RDP successful logins logged in EventViewer. Here are some details: They are not similar to normal logins, they happen like every second in a while even when I myself am logged in to the server. Event reads "Remote Desktop Services: User authentication succeeded" in "Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager/Operational", Event ID 1149 They seem to use some random user accounts without a domain name. I'm pretty sure that I don't have those local user accounts, and the server doesn't belong to any domain. Legitimate RDP logins have a valid user account and workgroup name, but those logins use unknown user names without any workgroup. Support staff couldn't help me and I'm very curious what are these strange logins. Are they some sort of brute force attack? so why does it read "Successful"? Am I being hacked? Why do they keep happening continually?

So how did you connected multiple monitors to you mac, and are these adapters the best choices, if yes then is there an OS independent one?

  • Dual head setup for Ubuntu 10.04.1 and Windows XP Pro with same hardware configuration

    Hello. I have a Dell OptiPlex 360 workstation at work, with 2 x ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] graphics cards installed, which are attached to two identical 19" HII flat panel monitors. I'm using the open source Radeon driver with Ubuntu, and the proprietary drivers with Windows. The good news is that dual head configuration works for both OSes. The bad news is, I have to use a different hardware configuration for each OS to achieve this. Hardware config #1: Dual monitors work for Windows XP Pro like this: First display -> external VGA port Second display -> DVI input on gfx card Hardware config #2: Dual monitors work for Ubuntu 10.04.1 like this: First display -> VGA port on gfx card Second display -> DVI input on gfx card I connected up the displays according to Config #2 and booted up Windows, which resulted in a mirror image on both screens. I was unable to login, as the login box was not visible. I unplugged the VGA lead from gfx card and plugged it into the external VGA port (Config #1) - Windows dual head works again, but the VGA-connected screen is not recognised by Ubuntu and remains in standby mode. Is it possible to configure a dual head setup for Ubuntu using Config #1, or am I missing something? I tried setting up dual monitors using Config #1, this morning which didn't work.   • Terminal Services - what does this message mean ?

    Hi - I'm responsible for a W2003 server. I'm trying to switch on terminal services. When I do so I get a message that includes the text : "If you continue with this installation, programs that are already installed on your server will no longer work and will have to be reinstalled" Surely that doesn't mean what it appears to mean ? I just want one extra person to be able to access the machine in the same way that currently two administrators do (via "Remote Administration") only I want all three to be able to do simultaneously. When I bought the extra TS license I thought I was just buying the right to have one extra user. Is doing this really going to trash everything on the machine ?
