• Anonymous user permission issue in SharePoint Server

  Hello everyone, I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. My question is, if I create a new page, how to grant permission to anonymous user to access (read permission) the page? I got this confusion because, for the permission setting of a page, a permission is set according to a user name (e.g. read permission for user "foo" of a page). Since anonymous user does not have a related "user name", how could I grant read permission to anonymous user? BTW: I use Windows Forms authentication and Windows NTLM authentication for my sites. • Very poor battery life on Lenovo ThinkPad W500 laptop

  I have a new ThinkPad W500 laptop (w/ 9 cell battery) running Windows 7 RTM 64-bit. All drivers* and BIOS are the latest. Battery life appeared poor so I performed several tests under the following conditions: Battery starts with 100% charge Screen on minimum brightness Screen saver running Wifi n enabled and active "Normal" set of programs running including Outlook 2007, FeedDemon, TweetDeck and antivirus Laptop left untouched during tests Under the above conditions, I clocked under 2 hours of battery life across 3 tests (1:49, 1:52, 1:47). If I actually use the computer, we're looking at 1:30. Something is not right... The smoking gun here is that Lenovo hasn't officially released Windows 7 drivers for this laptop. I haven't tried with Vista or XP yet. What are others seeing? Update: For W500 owners w/ the 9 cell battery, what value do you see for "Full charge capacity" when on the Battery tab of the Power Manager utility? I see 81.87 Wh.

• "The Operation Failed." accepting METHOD: PUBLISH iCalendar files in .pst account

  if I create a new Mail Profile using the Internet E-mail wizard, ie, creating a new local .pst account, and then try to add a .ics iCalendar file with a METHOD of PUBLISH to the calendar of that account, I get the error "The Operation Failed." If I change any of the above it works ok, eg, if I use an Exchange account or METHOD: REQUEST in the iCalendar file. I'm using Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 but I think the user that originally reported this was using Outlook 2007. Does anyone have any idea of why this might be? Thanks, Jamie Kitson

• Arbitrary Key Remapping on a Mac

  I bought a cheap Chinese replacement keyboard for my late 2007 MBP. The close square/curly bracket key actually sends a left control signal to the Mac. So I'm trying to remap my backslash/pipe key to be close square/curly bracket but I can't find the key remapping software to do it. Double Command and KeyRemap4Macbook can't do arbitrary key remaps and uControl/fkeys don't work on Snow Leopard. Anyone have ideas? I have no problem editing text config files if necessary.

• Why won't Outlook sync with Google Calendar?

  A colleague of mine is having problems with Outlook and Google Calendar Sync. He got a new machine and set up Outlook 2007 on that machine. He also installed Google Calendar Sync. However, when he synced Outlook with Google Calendar, he got a number of duplicate entries in Outlook's calendar. We tried deleting all entries in the Outlook calendar and doing a 1-way sync from Google Calendar to Outlook, but the duplicated entries appeared again. We ultimately removed the duplicated entries manually, but we experienced problems pushing the changes back to Google Calendar, so we deleted the calendar in Google Calendar and tried to sync again (using a 1-way sync from Outlook to Google). Now Google Calendar Sync says that it is synchronizing, but no entries appear in the Google Calendar calendar. What could the problem be?

• IIS seems to send email twice

  Hi, we have a request page in our website that send email to confirm the request. It seem that whenever this page is accessed, some (not all of them) are sent more than once at different time, sometime hours apart. The code (which is an old ASP page) looks fine as it sends only once to the recipient. So I doubt it's a programming related problem. When looking at the Exchange server, the tech told me that he seems to be receiving the request twice at different time, so the problem comes from what's between the code and Exchange. My hypothesis is that IIS seem to 'remember' the page and rerun it for some reason. Any hint on where to start? We have IIS 6 (in french if it makes any difference) with Exchange 2007. IIS is running on a Windows Server 2003 machine (virtual machine I believe) in a DMZ. I don't know about Exchange. Thank you.

• Macbook Pro Hard Drive won't shop up on disk startup

  I have a macbook pro from 2007. It came with an installation CD for 10.4.8. The first problem is that it won't even recognize the installation CD even though the CD seems perfectly fine. So I used another installation CD just to get me to the Disc Utility dialogue box. I went through the steps to erase the hard drive. However when I attempted to reboot the machine using Disc Startup there was no option for me to select the hard drive. Of course, since I don't have the appropriate installation disk in it won't let me install anything. What are my options? Do I need to ask Apple to send me a new installation CD for this computer? And why wouldn't the hard drive show up in the Startup options?

• Exchange 2010, multiple accepted domains, UCC and outside webhosts

  We have an Exchange 2010 server configured to send and receive mail on several accepted domains for Outlook Anywhere, with a UCC cert addressing each mail.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com, mail.otherplace.com etc. This worked fine until an SSL domain validation cert for one of the additional domains - where the www.otherplace.com is hosted outside our org - expired. Now Exchange users in mail.otherplace.com get an expired cert warning for otherplace.com when connecting to our mail.domain.com portal. They still get mail, but with a repeated popup in Outlook 2007 and 2010. If I understand it correctly - Outlook autodiscover connects by first polling otherplace.com/autodiscover - which is the outside www server with the expired cert before continuing on to autodiscover.otherplace.com - which is where the MX record points to our in-house Exchange UCC. I'm trying to find out if we should: 1) turn down all mail functions on the outside webserver 2) delete the expired (useless for an informational site) cert on the outside webserver 3) renew the cert for otherplace.com on the outside webserver - or something completely different? • Sharepoint: Multiple Alternate Access Mapping Collections for Single Web Application

  Hi All, We have a SharePoint MOSS 2007 installation which has two different external hostnames. When inspecting the setup I've noticed that there are two Alternate Access Mapping Collections mapped to the same web application. Each AAM collection contains one url mapped to the default zone. I can't see how AAM collections are mapped to web apps or even how to create a new AAM collection. I've always thought that there was just a one to one mapping between web apps and AAM collections. Does anyone have any idea as to how you would create such a situation? Cheers Russell

• Live CD with good anti-virus software to scan/repair Windows?

  Hello, I browsed through the archives, and it seems like there's no live CD from which to run a good, up-to-date anti-virus application, at least to check whether a Windows host has been compromised The Ultimate Boot CD has only three AV applications, and their virus definition is from... 2007 In a report, ClamAV scored very low. It's nice that it's open-source, but if it's not as good as commercial alternatives... Those of you into this kind of thing, do you confirm that there's just no good live CD to inspect Windows hosts, and possibly repair them? If there is, what do you recommend? Thank you.

• Prevent Outlook from automatically deleting meeting emails

  I'm using Outlook Web Access to read my email. When I receive a meeting notice and acknowledge it, Outlook adds it to my calendar then deletes the email. Is there a way to disable Outlook automatically deleting the meeting email? There doesn't seem to be any way to configure this in Options - Messaging and Options - Calendar. Note that I'm using Outlook Web Access and not the desktop client. From the copyright date this appears to be Outlook 2007. Follow-up: Based on edusysadmin's comment I logged-in using IE8, which exposed a setting not available in Firefox - "Move out-of-date meeting requests and responses to the Deleted Items folder". However unchecking this box doesn't seem to impact the auto-delete behavior. Follow-up 2: Keep in mind I am using Outlook Web Access via a web browser. I do not have the thick client Outlook installed.

• Drag/drop mail folder from Outlook to Explorer export to .pst file?

  While working on large-scale projects, I collect all mail conversations pertaining to the project in a separate folder within Outlook. When the project is completed, I want to archive the entire folder, for reference purposes. So my question is this: Does anyone know of a tool/plugin for Outlook 2007/2010 that allows you to drag/drop a mailfolder from within Outlook, to a Windows Explorer window, exporting the folder as a .pst file, preserving folder structure and timestamps on mails? I am doing this manually at the moment, but having a tool that would use simple drag/drop-functionality would greatly simplify my workflow for handling project-specific mail.

• mysql settings - using the available resources

  I've got a lot of processing work I need to run on a mysql server. I've installed mysql 5.1.45-community on a Win 2007 64bit. Its running on a xenon, 3ghz 6 processors with 8 gig ram. It doesn't seem to matter what queries I run (or the number I run at the same time), when I look in task manager, I'll see one processor is out at 100%. The other 5 are idol. Memory is static at 1.54 gig. When I installed mysql, I used the wizard and selected the default "server" (not workstation) option. I feel like I should be getting more bang for my buck. Is there something else I should be monitoring or something I should change to use the other system resources???

• Exchanged HDD in MacBook Pro - OSX installation disk shows prohibitory sign

  I exchanged the HDD in my 2007 MacBook Pro and removed the dvd-drive because it was making terrible noise everytime I booted the MacBook. The new HDD is a Corsair Force F120 SATA SSD. Everytime I try to launch an OSX Lion installation disk or USB stick I get the grey prohibitory sign and the machine shuts down after a while. Since I didn't format the SSD beforehand there is still Windows 7 on it. It shows the white progress bar with the message "Windows is loading files" but never finishes it. I don't want Windows on that machine, just thought this fact may be important. Any ideas what is wrong?

• Windows 2000 Inaccessible Boot Device

  I am working with a machine that had its motherboard die. The machine is running Windows 2000 for legacy software. After the motherboard died I used disk2vhd to perform a physical to virtual transfer. The drive data seemed to copy over to the vhd file well. However, whenever i try to boot I get a message saying Inaccessible Boot Device So far I have tried several things to fix it. fixMBR fixBoot chkdsk windows 2000 automated repair Also, I have attempted to open the registry of the vhd without any success. There is another fix that i have seen suggested that requires editing the registry. Is it possible to open a Windows 2000 hive in another OS or another copy of Windows 2000? One other thing to note is that the error appears in all of Virtual PC 2007, Hyper-V and VMWare Player. Does anyone know how to get past this?

• Any way to get P4V to work with older servers?

  I use P4V as a Perforce client. I updated to 2009.1 to get some major bug fixes, and it seems they removed the ability to connect to older clients. I do work for a few clients, and 5/6 depots I have to work with are new, but one is older (2002.2 I think). Does this mean that not only I can't get any more bug fixes because 1 of 6 servers is old, but now I'm completely locked out of that server since the older P4V clients are no longer online? I know the 2007.x version I used before works with the old servers, but I can't find it online. Please tell me I'm not SOL... The Visual Studio integration is part of the P4V package, not the P4Win package, so if something isn't fixed I might never have VS support for P4 again. Help :(

  Just would like some feedback on the best ftp program (not free). The requirements I'm looking for is: - secure ftp - for use on mac, linux, windows - backup utility with scheduler - for use on more than one computer (multi-license) I'm using wsftp from 2007 right now but it's only good for windows. It's license is only good for one computer. And after some vista updates it's making some strange noises. I tried to turn off the noise (via control panel) and it's still making that noise and I turned off the sound within wsftp too. I like the program but I think it's time to look for a new one. • Excel Add-In not loading properly with 64-bit Excel 2013

  I have an Excel Add-In saved to an .xla file in %appdata%\Microsoft\Addins. In the subject version of Excel it is checked on the Add-Ins list. One thing this addin does is create a drop-down menu in ThisWorkbook's Workbook_Open sub. But the menu is not created and there is no Add-Ins tab on the ribbon. No error messages. This works fine in Excel 2010 and 2007 (at least), and worked fine on the 32-bit Excel 2013 that came preinstalled on this system before I nuked it. The really maddening thing is that if I get rid of this addin and open that same .xla file, either by double-clicking or using the Open command in Excel, the menu appears as expected. I get the same behavior if I instead open the source .xls file - it all works. I've also tried saving to a .xlam file instead of .xla, but get the same bad result. Any ideas?

• Exchange 2003 Sending Double E-mails?

  Hello there, We have an exchange 2003 single-machine setup that is behaving very oddly. For various users it sends the same e-mail twice (I've checked the logs and each e-mail has a unique mail identifier which confirms that the problem is not the same e-mail being received twice, but it being sent twice) I've done a quick search and found tons of information regarding POP3/IMAP connectors etc, however these Employes are using Outlook 2003/2007 in Cached Mode. The Symantec AntiVirus for Mail is also not causing the issue, it's correctly scanning both e-mails coming through. Any ideas?

  I use the "Save as PDF" plugin with Microsoft word 2007 to generate a PDF document from DOCX document. It works great except that the Arabic numbers in the word file have been converted to English numbers in the PDF document.   I recently upgraded from Office 2007 to 2010, and that went fairly smoothly. However, afterwards, my Calibri font was gone, so my Word and Outlook started using the next available font in the list... Comic Sans! I browsed to Control Panel Fonts, and saw that there was no longer a Calibri listing. I know that one way to recover a missing font is to just copy the missing font files from another computer. In my case, the four files I needed were: calibri.ttf, //regular calibrib.ttf, //bold calibrii.ttf, //italics calibriz.ttf, //bold and italics However, once I attempted to copy-and-paste these files to my computer, I realized these files were already on my problem computer; they never really got erased. I don't know why they aren't working in Office, and they aren't listed in Control Panel Fonts.

• How to use new disk space after extend attached SAN disk

  I have extended the space of my SAN vDisk from 1TB to 1.2TB, but Windows Explorer doesn't show the new size. After resize the vdisk in the SAN Manager, the Disk Management utility shows the 200GB unallocated space, then I resized the partition to use the unallocated space to get a 1.2TB partition, the process was succesfully, but in the Windows File Explorer the disk still have 1TB of total space. Win version: Windows Storage Server Enterprise 2007. Do I need to restart the server? How can I use the new extra space without rebooting?

  I using a Sharepoint 2007 and TFS 2010. I installed all with reports sharepoint integration but when i try create a TeamProject Collections always return this warning: Server was unable to process request. --- TF250029: No user was found within the context of a Web site. Verify that the site does not allow anonymous access. And in sharepoint web applications tfs console window when check my sharepoint portal /sites return a error saying is blocked by firewall or server extensions is not installed, but i have all ok. Anyone can helpme, please.
