  • Play audio over network with Windows 7?

    I have a unique situation where I'd like to stream audio (ALL audio, not just mp3s, etc) from my laptop to another computer over the network. I live in a studio apartment and my laptop is my main computer but I'd like it's audio to play on my htpc with a nice stereo system. Since it's a studio, both computers are in the same room so I don't want 2 sets of speakers. I want my computer to directly play back through the stereo. I used to do this with pulseaudio but my job now requires that I run Windows full time. I'm aware of Shoutcast and other similar streaming solutions but I don't want any transcoding done. It's a waste of CPU and not to mention my laptop fans, and I don't mind the network bandwidth that uncompressed audio requires. Is there a way to run Shoutcast without encoding? Also, I know that Windows Remote Desktop can play audio over the network pretty easily. Is this part of .Net that I could just code a simple app that streams the audio without RD'ing in? I also don't want to run it over a physical wire. :)

  • Why are FMS logs filled with 'play' event status code 408 for a failed webcast?

    Recently we had a live webcast event go horribly wrong. I'm doing the technical post-mortem, with limited information. We know that the hardware encoder (a Digital Rapid Touch Stream Web HDI) was unable to send upstream at a sustained reliable high rate. What we don't know is if the encoder's connection was problematic (Zürich), or that of the streaming server (in Frankfurt). Unfortunately, I've got three different vendors all blaming each other (the CDN who runs the server, the on-site ISP and the on-site encoding team.) In the FMS log files I see a couple of interesting things: Zillions of Status Code 408 on play event entries for clients. Adobe's documentation stats that this "Stream stopped because client disconnected". ("Zillions" would be a ratio of 10 events for every individual IP address.) Several unpublish / (re)publish events per hour for the encoder I'd like to know if all those 408s could tell me with authority that the FMS server was starved for bandwidth, or that the encoding signal was starved (and hence the server was disconnecting clients.) Any clues?

    I am looking to retire my HTPC. So much of what we do with it can be done with one of our video game consoles or an AppleTV that is seems like a waste of space, power and time to maintain. The trouble is that my wife does streaming yoga classes served up via specific websites. I am assuming they are Flash based and so far I have been unable to find Apps for these content providers. My question is, is there a GOOD way to handle flash-based or even HTML5/h.264 web content with one of the other Internet enabled devices in our stack? So far we have: Nintendo Wii Playstation 3 XBox 360 And we're looking to purchase a current generation AppleTV. update The sites are YogisAnonymmous.com and YogaJournal.com, both are confirmed as Flash.

It supports streaming video through RTMP. Now what I want to do is this: +--(720p)--> TwitchTV FirstChannel XSplit --(720p RTMP)-->[MyTranscodingServer]--+ +--(360p)--> TwitchTV SecondChannel Is there a simple way to do this? Additional info: Both channels accept standard RTMP stream on their RTMP endpoint using either username/password or streamkey. The server operating system is GNU/Linux

    hi all, I have installed VS2008 and am able to run the demo codes "camshiftdemo and lkdemo " which comes in the opencv library. With this done, now I am trying to run some simple codes from the internet to get acquainted with the OpenCV. I am just trying to display video from webcam and I am getting the following error..     I have a dataset from video streaming logs. Each video is identified by a FileGUID. The log entries record the FileGUID, the fragment of the video watched and the bandwidth it was watched at. I would like to create a mapreduce outputting, for each video, a count for fragments both total and for each bandwidth. Ideally it would look like; {"FileGUID":"50acb3a5796634df0e073285", { "1":{"total":76, "0832":34, "1028":42}, "2":{"total":42, "0832":28, "1028":14}, ... } } Is this possible with one mapreduce or is it a multi-step process, or should I use a different method?   • Play Video From Raw Folder

    Evening, I've just started programming with android and made a few programs and everything so I'm still kind of a novice but im trying to understand it all. So here's my problem, I'm trying to play a video, the thing is, I got it working when I Stream it from an URL with VideoView over the internet or when i place in on my sdcard. What I want to do now is play a video I've got in my res/raw folder, but it only plays audio and I don't understand why, it doesn't give any error in my logcat as far as I can see, also couldn't really find a solution with google since most of the answers are about VideoView and just put the video on your SDCard. Now someone told me I had to use setDisplay (SurfaceHolder) and I've also tried that but I still only get the audio. I hope somebody can help me to find a solution to this problem. And please clarify me Websites are stored in servers. From my desktop, i want to broadcast some video, then i need to connect to webserver(to upstream the video). Is there an application to do that (or do i have to code that or embed in my web application and which programming language would be suitable(does python support that))? and i also need a script to handle the upstreamed video or audio(can i do that with php)?

    Is there any free (as in beer, and if it's possible as in bird) tool to convert a dvd in the format DVC-PRO HD 1080 to a normal/standard dvd format so that I can play it on a normal DVD player? EDIT: I changed the wording a bit. We've a video in DVC-PRO HD 1080 but as far as I know it is a proprietary format. We'd like to create a standard dvd out of it. I'm not really in video encoding and dvd conversion. I thought I need to be more precise. VLC currently doesn't support DVC-PRO HD 1080.

    I am going to conduct a user study. Apart from capturing the screen while the user is interacting with the system, I also want to capture the video/audio of the user. Is there any software that in addition to capturing the screen also overlays it with the webcam/microphone inputs. The goal is to capture the complete experience of the user: key/mouse interactions with the system along with their facial/vocal responses. I know that I can maybe run a screen-capture software and also run a software for capturing webcam audio/video alongside and try to sync/overlay both these streams with timestamps. But I am going to be dealing with probably several hundred hours of data. So I am looking for a tool that can streamline the process for me amap and help me keep my sanity at end of the process.     Hi I am trying to stream a video from my TorrentFlux-b4rt server. I tried multiple media players, none work. Only VLC was able to produce an error message: input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'mms://...:8080/'. Check the log for details. I have tried multiple computers on different networks and all have the same issue. I am using Windows 7 to play the videos, and the server is Torrentflux-b4rt 1.0-beta2 with ubuntu 9.10. Thank you.

  • All the Gear and No Idea: Suggestions for re-designing my home/office/entertainment network

    Help/ Advice/ Suggestions please: I have a load of kit that I love but which currently operate in disconnected, sometimes counter-productive way. Because I never really had a masterplan I just added these things one after another and connected them up in ad hoc ways. Since I bought my Macbook I've found I spend much less time on the MacPro that was until then my main machine. Perversely, as my job involves writing .Net software, I spend a lot of Mac time actually inside a Windows 7 VM. I stream media from the HP box to the PS3 and thus to the TV, but its not without its limitations/annoyances. We listen to each other's iTunes libraries but the music files are all over the place and it would be good to know they were all safely in one location (and fully backed up). I need to come up with a strategy that will allow me to use all the kit for work, play (recording live music, making tunes, iMovie work), pushing/streaming media to the TV and sharing files with my other half (she uses a Windows laptop and her iPod touch). Ideally I'd like to be able to work on any of the machines and have a shared homedrive that was visible to all machines so all my current files were synced up wherever i was. It would be great if I could access everything securely and quickly over the web. I'd also like to be able to set up a background backup process. The kit list thus far: Apple MacPro 8GB/3x250GB RAID0 + 1TB Apple MacBook Pro 13" 8GB/250GB - I spend a lot of my work time on a Windows 7 VM on this. Crappy Acer laptop (for children's use - iPlayer, watching movies/tv files) HP Proliant Server 4GB/80GB+160GB+300GB Sun Ultra 10 2 x 80GB (old, but in top-notch condition) PS3 160GB iPod Classic 2 x 8GB iPod Touch Observations: Part of the problem is our dual use of Windows and OS X - we can't go for a pure NT style roaming profile. Because the server is also used for hosting test/beta applications and a SQL Server db, it can't be dedicated to file serving. The two Macs really could do with sharing a roaming profile or similar. I'd love to be able to do something useful with the Ultra 10. My other half has been trying to throw it away for over five years now and regularly ask what function it serves in my study :-( I've got no shortage of 500GB external USB hard drives iMovie files are very large and ideally would be processed on a RAID system. Apple's TimeMachine isn't so great. If anyone could suggest all or part of a setup that would fulfil some of my requirements I'd be very grateful. I am willing to consider purchasing one or two more bits of kit (an Apple TV and a Squeezebox have been moted by friends) if they will help make efficiencies rather than add to the chaos and confusion.     I have an emachines Windows7 PC. I am trying to run the on board video card along with the dual DVI card I installed in the PCIE slot. In CMOS it shows the on board card as disabled and it will not let me enable it? Its greyed out so I cant even highlight it to change anything. I have done this before in XP on a few different machines so I know its possible, Any idea?

    Good day to all... I have some "little" problems with ffserver and ffmpeg... What I need to do is to broadcast a live video. So I got the cam... used vlc and used send stream option. I sent it to 192.168.1.9:64555, which is a virtual machine on the same computer, running centos. On the virtual machine I run the command ffmpeg -i 192.168.1.9:64555 output.mpg.     I'm not sure this is the correct forum, but I'll ask anyway. I have an A/V setup at home that has something like the following: Five Components (actually a few more, like a CD player, but they don't really relate to this question): Older Pioneer Receiver Digital Set Top Box Sony BluRay Player Samsung Plasma TV Speakers The reason for the receiver is so that all the sound can go through the speakers, rather than some going to the TV speakers and some to the external speakers. They are connected as follows: Digital Set Top Box connects via component video to Samsung TV directly via Component 2 (audio goes to Older Pioneer Receiver). Sony BluRay player is connected via HDMI 1 to TV, but audio goes to the receiver. Now, the problem I'm having is that when I have the digital set top box connected, there are times when the Netflix or Hulu streams I watch through the Sony BluRay player (it's connected to a router for internet access) will lose video. What I mean by this is that the sound of the episode will keep playing, but the screen will go black. If I jiggle the component cables, it will often come back. If I disconnect the component cables, it will always come back. I've noticed that one of the connections (the red component cable) doesn't like to sit very well in the component socket in the back of the digital set top box. It seems like there is a bad connection here, but it doesn't seem like this should be affecting the HDMI input at all. What I've noticed, though, is that when I disconnect the digital set top box completely (i.e. remove the component cable from the back of the TV), the problem seems to resolve itself. I'm not talking about actually removing the cable physically, because I thought perhaps the cables were mashing against one another, and possibly jiggling each other loose. To correct this possible problem, I took the component cable completely out of the cable ties it was in in the back of my entertainment center, as well as pulled the digital set top box out from the entertainment center altogether. It's now connected directly to the TV, without any other cables touching it to cause some kind of weird interference or just physical pulling on the cable. Same problem. If, however, I disconnect the component cable and just leave it sitting behind the TV, then the problem goes away. So, my question is this - what could be causing this? Is it a case where it's an improperly shielded component cable that's causing interference with the HDMI input, or something that's wrong with the TV? It's an intermittent problem, so it's difficult to track down. The TV isn't that old, so it's probably still under warranty. I'm just wondering if there is something else I can do that might reduce this problem without having to haul a massive television set out of my house to get repaired/replaced.

    I wanted to downlaod some of these short videos from chinadaily.com. For example, http://video.chinadaily.com.cn/2013/1012/1388.shtml I have tried NetVideoHunter with Firefox, which works for me for many other sites. But here, NetVideoHunter shows me very small segments of less than 200 KB and when I try to play them (in the NVH panel itself), it says 'Connecting' and then 'Stream not found'. I have seen other question on SuperUser about how to download a Flash video.
