  • How to: mirror a staging server from a production server

    We want to mirror our current production app server (Oracle Application Server) onto our staging server. As it stands right now, various things are out of sync, and what may work in testing/QA can easily fail in production because of settings/patch/etc inconsistencies. I was thinking what would be best is to clone the entire disk daily and push it onto the staging server... Would this be the best method...?

  • Friendly_id for fixtures (slugs)

    I am using freindly_id in my application. I have setup a few fixtures in my application. I want to do integration testing on them. During the tests I need the friendly_id, but the DB records created from fixtures do not have the corresponding slugs in the Slug table. Aren't the slugs automatically created from Fixture data? If not then what can be a solution?

    I am using WatiN for my web tests. In one of my web pages, I have a VBScript function which opens a dialogbox. I am unable to access it using WatiN.     Are there any ways to get count of current unfinished tasks at Google Appengine development server? I need it for making my integration test. I found a way to get this when running it local (just in mem), as described at appengine docs. But when i'm running it as a standalone server, from maven, this doesn't work. Just because library appengine-testing conflicts with Appengine SDK classes, and i can't use those classes together, when running sdk dev server.

    Hi recently I finished my WM6 Pro.6.1 application and happily learned that to put it into marketplace, it has to pass some tests. -Application Verifier -Microsoft Hopper Test Tool for Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1, and 6.5 I use VS 2008 and windows mobile 6.1 and I couldnt run none of these tests, Hopeer tool has a FocusApp c++ application which I must build and run before testing, but its a VS 2005 project and I couldnt run it on VS 200..and without it I can't test anything. any ideas how can I build that for VS2008?

    My current project uses NUnit for unit tests and to drive UATs written with Selenium. Developers normally run tests using ReSharper's test runner in VS.Net 2003 and our build box kicks them off via NAnt. We would like to run the UAT tests in parallel so that we can take advantage of Selenium Grid/RCs so that they will be able to run much faster. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this might be achieved? and/or best practices for testing Selenium tests against multiple browsers environments without writing duplicate tests automatically?   • How much of Grails GORM to test?

    Is there a "best practice" or defacto standard with how much of the GORM functionality one should test in the unit/functional tests? My take is that one should probably do most of the domain testing as functional tests so that you get the full grails environment. But what do you test? Inserts, updates, deletes? Do you test constraints even though they were probably more thoroughly tested by the grails release? Or do you just assume that GORM does what it is supposed to do and move to other parts of the application?
