• Problem running android HelloTabWidget example - NullPointerException on addTab()

  I've tried the Tab Layout example, and I've also fixed the few typos in the example (and added all the activities to the manifest). However, when I run it on the emulator I get a NullPointerException on the first line that says tabHost.addTab(spec); So my question, of course, is. What is wrong with the example that would cause this exception? I'm using Eclipse Galileo and set the target package as Android 1.5. • jQuery doesn't work in IE8?

  Hi, I am working on a site here: mfm.treethink.net All the jquery works fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari but on IE8 it gives me errors and the banner at the top doesn't work (which uses the crossSlide jQuery plugin) and as well the image rollovers don't work with the colour change. IE8 is telling me that the errors are on lines 53, 134 and 149 in the source, all of those lines are where the jquery function is declared. $(document).ready(function(){ I am running jquery 1.4. Oddly enough, the other piece of jQuery I have on that page works, the artist browse/select menu on the right. But the banner and image rollovers don't. The second works in IE8 and the first one is the one that doesn't. I noticed the third one, the only one working, is written differently than the first two non-working ones without a function declaration at the top. Could this have anything to do with it? • In Email, Image (img) Source (src) Tags are rewritten as relative links. How to fix?

  I'm working on sending out an html based email, and every time it sends the image src tags and some of the anchor href tags are modified to be relative url's. Update 2: This is happening between when the body of the email is generated and sent and when it arrives in my inbox. Update: I am using Postfix on a LAMPP server. In addition, I am using Zend_Mail to send the emails out. For example, I have a link: src="http://www.furnituretrainingcompany.com/images/email/highpoint_2009_04/header.jpg" And it gets rewritten as: src="../../../../images/email/highpoint_2009_04/header.jpg" What can cause this to occur and how is it corrected? We have a large number of sites all running the same code. Once a site has failed to load a DLL it throws up a Yellow Screen of Death until the next App Pool recycle. We haven't been able to reproduce this behavior and the sites seem to work fine for days or weeks at a time (and many App Pool recycles) before failing. Has anybody else seen similar behavior? Update: We've tried reproducing the failure by setting up a few hundred sites and writing a script to hit them repeatedly while recycling the App Pool once every couple of minutes and were unable to accomplish much other than loading down the server's CPU for a few days straight. We then tried messing (locking one of the DLLs, changing the file permissions) with the copies of the DLLs that ASP.NET makes and managed to reproduce similar behavior but not the same exception. Does anybody have any ideas on how to adjust the security policy to get it to throw a System.Security.Policy.PolicyException: Execution permission cannot be acquired. when loading a specific DLL?

However, I didn't find any solution for this problem I'm having: I have a UITableView with 2 sections, and no rows when the app is launched for the first time. The user can fill the sections later on as he wishes (the content is not relevant here). The UITableView looks good when filled with rows, but looks pretty ugly when there is none (the 2 header sections are stuck together with no white space in between). That is why I'd like to add a nice "No row" view in between when there is no row.   I've been trying to map an object to a database using SQLAlchemy but have run into a snag. Version info if handy: [OS: Mac OSX 10.5.8 | Python: 2.6.4 | SQLAlchemy: 0.5.8] The class I'm going to map: class Student(object): def __init__(self, name, id): self.id = id self.name = name self.preferences = collections.defaultdict(set) self.allocated_project = None self.allocated_rank = 0 def __repr__(self): return str(self) def __str__(self): return "%s %s" %(self.id, self.name) Background: Now, I've got a function that reads in the necessary information from a text database into these objects. The function more or less works and I can easily access the information from the objects. Before the SQLAlchemy code runs, the function will read in the necessary info and store it into the Class. There is a dictionary called students which stores this as such: students = {} students[id] = Student(<all the info from the various "reader" functions>) Afterwards, there is an "allocation" algorithm that will allocate projects to student. It does that well enough. The allocated_project remains as None if a student is unsuccessful in getting a project. SQLAlchemy bit: So after all this happens, I'd like to map my object to a database table. Using the documentation, I've used the following code to only map certain bits. • Entity Framework won't SaveChanges on new entity with two-level relationship

  I'm building an ASP.NET MVC site using the ADO.NET Entity Framework. I have an entity model that includes these entities, associated by foreign keys: Report(ID, Date, Heading, Report_Type_ID, etc.) SubReport(ID, ReportText, etc.) - one-to-one relationship with Report. ReportSource(ID, Name, Description) - one-to-many relationship with Sub_Report. ReportSourceType(ID, Name, Description) - one-to-many relationship with ReportSource. Contact (ID, Name, Address, etc.) - one-to-one relationship with Report_Source. There is a Create.aspx page for each type of SubReport. The post event method returns a new Sub_Report entity. Before, in my post method, I followed this process: Set the properties for a new Report entity from the page's fields. Set the SubReport entity's specific properties from the page's fields. Set the SubReport entity's Report to the new Report entity created in 1. Given an ID provided by the page, look up the ReportSource and set the Sub_Report entity's ReportSource to the found entity. SaveChanges. This workflow succeeded just fine for a couple of weeks. Then last week something changed and it doesn't work any more. Now instead of the save operation, I get this Exception: UpdateException: "Entities in 'DIR2_5Entities.ReportSourceSet' participate in the 'FK_ReportSources_ReportSourceTypes' relationship. 0 related 'ReportSourceTypes' were found. 1 'Report_Source_Types' is expected." The debug visualizer shows the following: The SubReport's ReportSource is set and loaded, and all of its properties are correct. The Report_Source has a valid ReportSourceType entity attached. In SQL Profiler the prepared SQL statement looks OK. Can anybody point me to what obvious thing I'm missing? TIA Notes: The Report and SubReport are always new entities in this case. The Report entity contains properties common to many types of reports and is used for generic queries. SubReports are specific reports with extra parameters varying by type. There is actually a different entity set for each type of SubReport, but this question applies to all of them, so I use SubReport as a simplified example.

This works, but when I examine the proxy logs the User-Agent string ("WinHTTP AutoProxy Sample/1.0") is not being sent as part of the CONNECT. It is however sent as part of the POST. Could someone please tell me how I can change this code to have the User-Agent header sent during both the CONNECT and POST? Edited to add: we are observing this problem only on Windows 7. If we run the same code on a Windows Vista box, we can see the User-Agent header being sent on CONNECT.

Here's the situation: I can run Report Builder from localhost My coworker can run Report Builder on his Vista computer Another coworker can run Report Builder on his XP SP3 computer (IE7) I can NOT run Report Builder on my XP SP3 computer (IE7) I'm told that it could be anything from an errant registry entry to a group policy problem. • GWT & HTML5 Video in Mobile Safari

  I'm trying to code a site in GWT that plays videos with HTML5. Everything works great on the desktop, but mobile Safari on both the iPhone and iPad do not play the video. I can play a video using Video for Everybody. I've even copied the code to my own plain HTML page, and it works flawlessly. If I serve that same code via a GWT widget, mobile safari will not play the video. On the iPhone I see a gray box with a prohibitory sign around the play button, and on the iPad it shows up as a black box. I've made sure my doctype is <!DOCTYPE html>, but I don't know where else to start debugging. Perhaps it it because the code is injected via javascript? Any pointers on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated. For starters, I can get better non-batch insert performance from SQL Server Express. What really struck me, however, was the slow performance of the find_nnnn queries. Why is retrieving data from MongoDB so slow? What am I missing? Edit: This was all on the local machine, no network latency or anything. MongoDB's CPU usage ran at about 75% the entire time the test was running. Edit 2: Also, I ran a trace on the benchmark program and confirmed that 50% of the CPU time spent was waiting for MongoDB to return data, so it's not a performance issue with the C# driver.

• Handling Errors from HttpWebRequest.GetResponse

  Hey experts - I'm having a ridiculous time trying to get an SMS API working (ZeepMobile, if you're interested) with .NET... I've been around .NET for a few years, but with all this social networking and API stuff, I need to get into the HttpWebRequest a bit. I'm new at it, but not completely new; I was able to hook up my site to Twitter without too much fuss (ie, I was able to modify someone's code to work for me). Anyways, the way their API works is to send an SMS message, you send them a POST and they respond back to you. I can send it just fine, but every time I do, rather than echo back something helpful to figure out what the error is, I get the Yellow Error Page Of Death (YEPOD) saying something to the effect of "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request." This occurs on my line: '...creation of httpwebrequest here...' Dim myWebResponse As WebResponse myWebResponse = request.GetResponse() '<--- error line Is there any way to simply receive the error from the server rather than have the webserver throw an exception and give me the YEPOD? • Magento My Account Layout XML Problem

  Hi there, I'm having issues getting the customer.xml layout file to work properly for the customer's "my account" pages. The navigation links and the previously ordered items that are usually on the left hand side of the page won't show up on the page, but if I change the reference name to "content" in the xml file, it shows up (except it's obviously then on the right hand side). I've checked the template it's referencing (2columns-left.phtml), and the getChildHtml('left') is there in the correct position. • Form submit to target iframe only works once

  I'm having a really irritating problem doing something that I'm sure I've done before. The setup is this: There's a form which is submitted via a "click" handler on a button, though the submit is ultimately a simple call to the form's native submit() function. The form's target is an iframe, which is initially filled with an empty page (that is, its source object is an URL for an empty page). That is, the "target" attribute of the form is the same identifier (and yes, it's a valid identifier) as the "name" and "id" attributes of the iframe (and yes, it's unique) Now the goal of this setup is as follows: the form contains file upload fields. Should something be wrong with one of the files uploaded, the server will report back an error. If the error response (that is, the html page with a new copy of the form, along with appropriate error messages) were to be allowed to reload the original window, then the file input fields would be cleared. That's not good. Thus the form submits to the iframe, so that the response from the server can be a small page that knows it's in that hidden iframe, and knows to move the error messages up to the form. One more thing: the form itself is also in an iframe, as part of a popup modal dialog (like a jQuery UI dialog, only slightly different; same idea though). The setup works fine - on the first submit. In other words, if I supply nice happy files to upload, the server ships back the successful response, and the dialog is closed correctly. If I send a bogus file, the server responds with an error page that correctly copies its stuff up to the form page. On the second submit, however (like, if I fix the bogus file input field), the browser insists on sending the server response to a new browser tab. As far as I can tell, the form's "target" remains correct, the iframe "name" and "id" attributes aren't changed, and I even make sure to update the hidden iframe "window.name" and "window.id" values. None of that is helping; I always get a new browser tab. I'm trying to set up a slightly simpler test case to see if I can rule out some of my framework code (the stuff that does the submit), though via a few console.log() calls I think that stuff is OK; it's certainly OK on all the other dialogs etc. in the site. When/if I create a simpler version I'll post it. In the meantime, if any of you insanely smart people recognize this situation and know of a trick to make it work, I'd be really thankful. I see the same behavior in both Firefox (3.6) and Chrome, so it's got to be my problem and not a browser quirk (well, at least that's what I think to be true).

• Team Foundation Server Setup/Access

  What I need: A TFS 2010 Setup that allows 2 application developers to access the TFS from remote locations. How it is setup: Server 2008 Standard 2g Ram 300g HD space SharePoint Server 2007, using SQL Server 2005 SQL Server 2008 Standard Team Foundation Server 2010 IIS 7 Sharepoint Bindings: TFS.DynAccount.Me:80; TFS:80 TFS Bindings: TFS.DynAccount.Me:8080; TFS:8080 Using DynDNS service to account for the dynamic ip address being used, this is a requirement for the moment until I can get a better isp package. Access using Local Accounts Server is not setup on a domain, or as a domain. Consequently I did not setup AD services. Problem: When logged into TFS using my credentials TFS\AdminUser through the DynDNS account TFS.DynAccount.Me I recieve the 'Red X of Death' on the Documents and Reports folder. When logged into the TFS through the local peer to peer network using the same credentials TFS\AdminUser I do not receive the 'Red X of Death' problem. Further Troubleshooting: When users 'Right Click' the 'TeamProject1' Click 'Show Project Portal' it tries to take them to http://TFS:8080 instead of http://TFS.DynAccount.Me:8080, which doing further research I am assuming that it is because team foundation server was setup with a local name of TFS instead of 'TFS.DynAccount.Me' as specified here in Visual Studio Magazines: The Red X of Death. Users can Access the Team Portal for SharePoint via http://TFS.DynAccount.Me/TeamCollection/TeamProject so it is not like we are dead in the water or anything. However, as most employees/staff are prone to do, they have expressed a great distaste for having to do it this way and just be patient until the current project is finished since we are under a very strict deadline. Is there a way to set this up differently, or change some settings someplace, reinstall it, point a CName record for our domain website to the DynAccount (e.g. TFS.OurDomain.com points to TFS.DynAccount.Me, which consequently does allow access to the http site without issues), or something. I really don't feel like after all the time and effort I have spent into, first the cost, second the bloody install, third learning SharePoint well enough, fourth the hours into days spent on this, fifth more troubleshooting, sixth employee headaches to just let it lay where it is at. I figure in my spare/off time I would keep trying to get this to work. So I really appreciate any help any one can give me. I know this is probably something really stupid simple that I will 'Face Palm' over, but at the moment the stress and frustration just has me beat. In my development machine I have office 2010 beta1. I have tested with the executable in a pc with office 2007 as well. And if I run the code from the executable in the server, with office 2003 installed, it runs perfectly. To ensure that there wouldn't be any problems with permissions, everyone in the server has full access to the web site. The website is running in IIS7 and Classic Mode. I also heard that Open-office has an API that should be able to do this, but I couldn't find anything about it. I don't mind using DLLImport to do what I have to do and I can install open-office on the web server. Don't worry about rewriting this method, as long as the parameters are the same, everything will work. I appreciate your help. ps: Sorry for bad English.

• Sharing cookies/session from WebView to HttpClient doesn't work

  I know this question has been asked a hundred times, and I've read and tried for 2 hours now, but I can't find my error :-( I am trying to create a simple webbrowser and therefore have a webview, where I login on a site and get access to a picture area. With help of a DefaultHttpClient, I want to make it possible to download pictures in the secured area. Therefore I am trying to share the cookies from the webview and pass them on to the HttpClient, so that it is authenticated and able to download. But whatever I try and do, I always get a 403 response back...   I don't know if the title explain this situation well. Below is a code i wrote to create div elements when the button is pressed. Then By clicking on any of the created divs, we can change the div background by choosing a color from the drop down box. However if i click on another div and tried to change the color by selecting another color from the drop down, the previously clicked divs also gets affected by the new color. Why is this happening. I only want the selected div to change color, without affecting the previously clicked divs. I read allot of threads on this site, some of which talks about unbinding clicks, but I'm unable to solve the problem.   I'm developing a site and I am implementing a jquery hover effect on some list items. It works perfectly in all browser except safari and chrome (mac and pc). For some reason the hover effect doesnt work on those to browsers.   Hi, I'm a bit of a jQuery n00b so please excuse me if this seems like a stupid question. I am creating a site using the jQuery UI more specifically the sortable portlets. I have been able store whether or not a portlet is has been open or closed to a cookie. This is done using the following code. • How to arrange models, views, controllers in a Kohana 3 project

  I'm looking at how to set up a mid-sized web application with Kohana 3. I have implemented MVC patterns in the past but never worked against a "formalized" MVC framework so I'm still getting my head around the terminology - toying around with basic examples, building views and templates, and so on. I'm progressing fairly well but I want to set up a real-world web project (one of my own that I've been planning for quite some time now) as a learning object. I learn best by example, but example-based documentation is a bit sparse for Kohana 3 right now - they say so themselves on the site. While I'm not worried about getting into the framework soon enough, I'm a bit concerned about arranging a healthily structured code base from the start - i.e. how to split up controllers, how to name them, and how to separate the functionality into the appropriate models. My application could, in its core, be described as a business directory with a main businesses table. Businesses can be listed by category and by street name. Each business has a detail page. Business owners can log in and edit their business's entry. Businesses can post offers into an offers table. I know this is not very detailed, but I don't want to cram too much information into this question. I'll be more than happy to go into more detail if needed. Supposing I have all the basic functionality worked out and in place already - list all businesses, edit business, list businesses by street name, create offer logged in as business, and so on, and I'm just looking for how to fit the functionality into a MVC pattern and into a Kohana application structure that can be easily extended: Do you know real-life, publicly accessible examples of "database-heavy" applications like directories, online communities... with a log-in area built on Kohana 3 where I could take a peek how they do it? Are there conventions or best practices on how to structure an extendable login area for end users in a Kohana project that is not only able to handle a business directory page, but further products on separate pages as well? Do you know application structuring HOWTOs or best practices for Kohana 3 not mentioned in the user guide and the inofficial Wiki? Have you built something similar and could give me some recommendations?
