• Cant access log files in production.

  I was trying to run my application and check for some output on the production.log. However Rails throws this error. Apache log Rails Error: Unable to access log file. Please ensure that /var/www/somefolder/someapp/log/production.log exists and is chmod 0666. The log level has been raised to WARN and the output directed to STDERR until the problem is fixed. I have performed the necessary chmod 666 production.log to make it work but I realized that the file is under root access. So my file permissions are -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 20845 2010-03-18 01:18 production.log Im not sure how to allow Rails to access this file. Im fairly new to managing linux production env so I request you to excuse my ignorance.

  Hey guys.... I have never worked on linux and dont plan on working on it either - The only command I probably know is "ls" :) I am hosting my website on Eapps and use their cpanel to setup everything so never worked with linux. Now I have this one time case - where I need to provide access to a contractor to fix the CSS issues on my website. He basically needs FTP (read/write) access to certain folders. At a high level - this is my code structure /home/webadmin/example.com/html/images /css /js /login.php /facebook.php /home/webadmin/example.com/application/library /views /models /controllers /config /bootstrap.php /home/webadmin/example.com/cgi-bin I want the new user to be able to have access to only these folders /home/webadmin/example.com/html/js /home/webadmin/example.com/html/css /home/webadmin/example.com/application/views He should not be able to view even the content of other folders including files like bootstrap.php or login.php etc If any sys admins can help me set this account up - will really appreciate it.   Well, I have a really small problem. How can I access an ASP.NET Drop down list from jquery? I tried to use "CssClass" property of the drop down list to assign a CSS class and then accessing that list using that class, but later I found out that the class changes when an element is selected, so my initial class replaced by a new class. I also cannot use the "ClientID" property because the part of code that access that list is not inside the page, but in a separate javascript file. So how can I access it ?

  For a while now, my team and I have been wrapping our data access layer in a web service facade (using WCF) and calling it from the business logic layer. Meanwhile, we could simply use the repository pattern where the business logic layer consumes the data access layer locally through an interface, and at any point in time, we can switch things out for it to hit a service instead (if necessary). The question is: When is it a good time to wrap the data access layer in a service facade and when isn't it? Right now, it seems like the main advantage is that other applications can consume the service, but if they are internal applications written in .NET then they can just consume the .NET assembly instead. Are there other advantages of having the DAL be wrapped in a service that I am unaware of?

  We are developing a .net based CT based on Broker query Mechanism (filter): ComponentPresentationAssembler cpAssembler = new ComponentPresentationAssembler(Page ID,Page object); In order to pass the page ID, I need to get the access of page on which the component is present. How can I access the page from package? Since this a CT, a component object would be available in page and not a page object. Tried the following piece of code, but without success: string pageURI = _package.GetValue("Page.ID"); Page objPage = (Page)_engine.GetSession().GetObject(pageURI); This is not working as there is no page object. What are the alternatives so that we can access the parent page of component from CT?

  So I know that there is a very similar question to this all over the web as well as stack overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2539961/error-access-denied-for-user-mysql-server but my question I think is different. So I have set up a linked server and it works...I have the correct permissions set up for my IP's that I am using. However the problem arises when our user "webuser@correctIP" tries to access it. Therefore, any user using window authentication is allowed to access it and works great...but any that are not using windows authentication are blocked. However, I have tried all the common solutions such as setting up a strict password, changing security settings in Microsoft SQL Server etc. Nothing is working. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. FYI: I am using this from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - mysql (through myphpadmin)

  Hi everybody, I need to programmatically modify the Access Descriptors on a known Registry key during product installation. The way I want it to work is: The installer is run in Administrative mode. A Registry key is created. A function (the one I need) queries the ACL from the key. If this function finds that the group 'Users' already has write access, nothing should be done. If not, it should add a new permission allowing write access to the 'Users' group. The permissions are saved for the Registry key. This question is similar to Setting Registry key write permissions using .NET, however, I need a C++/Win32 implementation. Thanks in advance

  In some way I have managed to get this error when I try to access into MySQL via the command line: [root@localhost ~]# mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I have tried resetting the password without any luck using this HowTo. I have uninstalled mysql completley and reinstalled but I still get asked for a password. I have no idea why this is the case! Can someone please help me get a default install of MySQL. Environment Fedora Core 10, Full Root Access, Apache and PHP installed Thank you for any help!! EDIT To all those that would like to save themselves a few hours of "blood coughing" - when you uninstall MySQl completely delete everything that is left behind. If you don't do this, it will never be a FRESH install.

  I followed these instructions: http://www.visualwin.com/SelfSSL/ When I type https://localhost/ than it works, but when I try to access it remotely (i set up my router to port forward to localhost), for example https://myip the page does not load. Also, I noticed one other thing. When I access localhost locally then I am asked to enter user/pass, but if I access remotely the I get the following warning: Under Construction The site you were trying to reach does not currently have a default page. • How to access fields in JSON object by index

  I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I have no other choice :( I have to access the items in JSONObject by their index. The standard way to access objects is to just wirte this[objectName] or this.objectName. I also found a method to get all the fields inside a json object: (for (var key in p) { if (p.hasOwnProperty(key)) { alert(key + " -> " + p[key]); } } (Soruce : Loop through Json object). However there is no way of accessing the JSONfields directly by a index. The only way I see right now, is to create an array, with the function above, get the fieldname by index and then get the value by fieldname. As far as I see it, the p (in our case the JSON file must be an iteratable array to, or else the foreach loop wouldn't work. How can I access this array directly? Or is it some kind of unsorted list? We need to: Prevent all external (public) users from accessing the URL. Permit specific internal users to access the page, only from certain IPs or networks. • PHP/Apache Deny folder access to user but not to script

  Hey all, So I have this php web app, and one of my folder contains some files that can be downloaded. I have a download script that modifies the headers, in order to always offer a download link. (instead of showing a picture for example, when you click on a link, a download box pops out) Right now, if you enter a url like: http://www.mywebsite.com/content/ You get the listing of all the downloadable files, and of course, you can just download them all, without going through the website interface. Personally, I don't think it's a problem, since I often use downthemall or other downloading tool, and this type of access is a great time saver.... But of course my company does not think so :-p They want people to use the interface in order to view the Ads... Would they be a way, maybe with a protected .htaccess, to leave the folder access to my download script, but deny access to the users...? I hope I am making sense and you know what I mean :) All help/remarks appreciated!

• C++ - Access array (in main) from methods outside main

  I have an array in my main class that holds objects that I need to print out for a menu listing. The array is declared and initialized in main. I need to, however, access the same array in a sub-menu function. If I copy the code (for loop that prints out the values) to the sub-menu, nothing is printed (presumably because it can't access the original array and has made a new, blank one). Is there any way (without making the array a global variable) that I can access the array in this sub-menu? Both the main and the sub-menu function are in the same file and the sub-menu is called from main. Maybe to put it more simply, can I use scope resolution to bring me up one 'level' in scope?

• Virtual PC (XPMode) - How to access Webserver on guest from host

  I have Windows XP running inside Windows 7 via Virtual PC (XPMode) and installed Zend Server CE on the virtual XP guest. The webserver is running and can be accessed on the guest, but I cannot access the webserver from the Win7 host. I configured a static IP address and subnet of 255.255.255.0 on the guest and can ping this IP from the guest but not from the host. The other way it works fine, i.e. I can ping the host from the guest. I can also access the internet from the virtual XP guest. I tried different Network Options in the VirtualPC settings, but nothing helps. Googling the topic I couldn't find anything helpful yet. Any idea, what I could try to access the webserver on the virtual XP guest from the Win7 host?

• Determine what account IIS 7 is using to access folders (and other resources)

  Often, out of sheer desperation I will end up enabling "Everyone" access on a folder that a web app is accessing (perhaps for file creation, reading, etc) because I can't figure which user account to enable access on. Obviously, this is a very bad thing to do. Is there a way to determine what account IIS is using at that exact moment to access folders (and perhaps other resources like SQL Server, etc)? Are there logs I can look at that will tell me? Or perhaps some other way? I usually use Windows Auth without impersonation. Not sure if that information is relevant.

In the child class, I have a member function named function_blah(); I used vector<parent*> A to store 5 parent instances, 3 child instances. So the total number of elements in the vector is 8. I can easily access to member functions of element A[0] to A[4], which are parent instances. But whenever I try to have access to member functions of element A[5] to A[7], the compiler complains that class parent has no member named 'function_blah' The way I access to elements is using index. e.x A[i] with i = 0..7. Is it correct? if not, how?

However, I get errors when I try to do this, e.g. Directory.Exists(servicePath) returns false, FileSystemWatcher doesn't recognize activity in the directory. If I change the service's account to LocalSystem, these methods work. I don't want to give the service root-level access, though. It seems to be a permissions problem, so how can I give the service permission to access the directory and monitor it?
