  • ASP.NET Repeater datasource bound to a function. Would it call the function twice?

    - by Frenchie
    In the code behind I have a function that returns a List(Of SomeClass): rptRepeater.DataSource = SomeFunction(SomeVariable) rptRepeater.DataBind() In the html I have a basic repeater layout and am using the below code to get the Properties of each object returned. <%#Databinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Parameter1")% My question is, would there ever be a case that it would execute the Function more than once?

  • Windows32 API: "mov edi,edi" on function entry?

    - by Ira Baxter
    I'm stepping through Structured Error Handling recovery code in Windows 7 (e.g, what happens after SEH handler is done and passes back "CONTINUE" code). Here's a function which is called: 7783BD9F mov edi,edi 7783BDA1 push ebp 7783BDA2 mov ebp,esp 7783BDA4 push 1 7783BDA6 push dword ptr [ebp+0Ch] 7783BDA9 push dword ptr [ebp+8] 7783BDAC call 778692DF 7783BDB1 pop ebp 7783BDB2 ret 8 I'm used to the function prolog of "push ebp/mov ebp,esp". What's the purpose of the "mov edi,edi"?

  • multiple definition of inline function

    - by K71993
    Hi, I have gone through some posts related to this topic but was not able to sort out my doubt completly. This might be a very navie question. Code Description I have a header file "inline.h" and two translation unit "main.cpp" and "tran.cpp". Details of code are as below inline.h file details #ifndef __HEADER__ #include <stdio.h> extern inline int func1(void) { return 5; } static inline int func2(void) { return 6; } inline int func3(void) { return 7; } #endif main.c file details are below #define <stdio.h> #include <inline.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { printf("%d\n",func1()); printf("%d\n",func2()); printf("%d\n",func3()); return 0; } tran.cpp file details (Not that the functions are not inline here) #include <stdio.h> int func1(void) { return 500; } int func2(void) { return 600; } int func3(void) { return 700; } Question The above code does not compile in gcc compiler whereas compiles in g++ (Assuming you make changes related to gcc in code like changing the code to .c not using any C++ header files... etc). The error displayed is "duplicate definition of inline function - func3". Can you clarify why this difference is present across compile? When you run the program (g++ compiled) by creating two seperate compilation unit (main.o and tran.o and create an executable a.out), the output obtained is 500 6 700 Why does the compiler pick up the definition of the function which is not inline. Actually since #include is used to "add" the inline definiton I had expected 5,6,7 as the output. My understanding was during compilation since the inline definition is found, the function call would be "replaced" by inline function definition. Can you please tell me in detailed steps the process of compilation and linking which would lead us to 500,6,700 output. I can only understand the output 6. Thanks in advance for valuable input.

  • Does this PHP function protect against SQL injection?

    - by George Edison
    I have this function I'm using and I want to be sure that it fully protects against SQL injection attacks: function MakeSafeForQuery($string) { // replace all of the quote // chars by their escape sequence $ret = str_replace("\\","\\\\",$string); $ret = str_replace("'","\\'",$ret); $ret = str_replace("\"","\\\"",$ret); return $ret; } Am I missing anything serious?

  • Naming Suggestions For A Function Providing Chaining In A Different Way

    - by sid3k
    I've coded an experimental function which makes passed objects chainable by using high order functions. It's name is "chain" for now, and here is a usage example; chain("Hello World") (print) // evaluates print function by passing "Hello World" object. (console.log,"Optional","Parameters") (returnfrom) // returns "Hello World" It looks lispy but behaves very different since it's coded in a C based language, I don't know if there is a name for this idiom and I couldn't any name more suitable than "chain". Any ideas, suggestions?

  • Higher order function « filter » in C++

    - by Red Hyena
    Hi all. I wanted to write a higher order function filter with C++. The code I have come up with so far is as follows: #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <functional> #include <algorithm> #include <vector> #include <list> #include <iterator> using namespace std; bool isOdd(int const i) { return i % 2 != 0; } template < template <class, class> class Container, class Predicate, class Allocator, class A > Container<A, Allocator> filter(Container<A, Allocator> const & container, Predicate const & pred) { Container<A, Allocator> filtered(container); container.erase(remove_if(filtered.begin(), filtered.end(), pred), filtered.end()); return filtered; } int main() { int const a[] = {23, 12, 78, 21, 97, 64}; vector<int const> const v(a, a + 6); vector<int const> const filtered = filter(v, isOdd); copy(filtered.begin(), filtered.end(), ostream_iterator<int const>(cout, " ")); } However on compiling this code, I get the following error messages that I am unable to understand and hence get rid   • What JavaScript object copy function works with greasemonkey?

    - by Geo
    I know there is another question related to copying objects in JavaScript here, but the code they provide does not work with greasemonkey. From what I was able to trace, the code for the accepted answer dies/ stops at the line : var temp = new obj.constructor(); Is there any way to see what went wrong ? It's not really necessary I use the same function for the object copying, but I would like something that works. Do you know some function?

  • PHP: How to implement a __get-like method for local function variables

    - by Tom Frost
    I'm no stranger to __get(), and have used it to make some very convenient libraries in the past. However, I'm faced with a new challenge (PHP 5.3, abbreviated and simplified my code for this question): <?php namespace test; class View { function __construct($filename, $varArray) { $this->filename = $filename; $this->varArray = $varArray; } function display() { include($this->filename); } function __get($varName) { if (isset($this->varArray[$varName])) return $this->varArray[$varName]; return "?? $varname ??"; } } ?> Above is a very, very simplified system for loading a View. This code would call the view and display it: <?php require_once("View.php"); use test\View; $view = new View("views/myview.php", array("user" => "Tom")); $view->display(); ?> My goal for this code is to allow the view "myview.php" to contain code like this: <p> Hello <?php echo $user; ?>! Your E-mail is <?php echo $email; ?> </p> And, used with the above code, this would output "Hello Tom! Your E-mail is ?? email ??" However, this won't work. The view is being included within a class method, so when it refers to $user and $email, it's looking for local function variables -- not variables belonging to the View class. For this reason, __get never gets triggered. I could change all my view's variables to things like $this-user and $this-email, but that would be a messy and unintuitive solution. I'd love to find a way where I can reference variables directly WITHOUT having PHP throw an error when an undefined variable is used. Thoughts? Is there a clean way to do this, or am I forced to resort to hacky solutions?

  • Calling a function in an iframe from a parent in firefox

    - by wyatt
    I'm trying to call a function, test(), of an iframe from the parent document using the code subframe.test(); subframe refers correctly to the iframe, alert(subframe) returns [object HTMLIFrameElement], and the function runs in both IE7 and opera (9.23), but not firefox (3.0), chrome (3.0) or safari (3.03 beta windows). I assume these browsers support the functionality, so wondering if perhaps I'm using an incorrect call which IE and Opera support anyway, which wouldn't surprise me.

  • Inserting Records in Ascending Order function- C homework assignment

    - by Aaron McRuer
    Good day, Stack Overflow. I have a homework assignment that I'm working on this weekend that I'm having a bit of a problem with. We have a struct "Record" (which contains information about cars for a dealership) that gets placed in a particular spot in a linked list according to 1) its make and 2) according to its model year. This is done when initially building the list, when a "int insertRecordInAscendingOrder" function is called in Main. In "insertRecordInAscendingOrder", a third function, "createRecord" is called, where the linked list is created. The function then goes to the function "compareCars" to determine what elements get put where. Depending on the value returned by this function, insertRecordInAscendingOrder then places the record where it belongs. The list is then printed out. There's more to the assignment, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Ideally, and for the assignment to be considered correct, the linked list must be ordered as: Chevrolet 2012 25 Chevrolet 2013 10 Ford 2010 5 Ford 2011 3 Ford 2012 15 Honda 2011 9 Honda 2012 3 Honda 2013 12 Toyota 2009 2 Toyota 2011 7 Toyota 2013 20 from the a text file that has the data ordered the following way: Ford 2012 15 Ford 2011 3 Ford 2010 5 Toyota 2011 7 Toyota 2012 20 Toyota 2009 2 Honda 2011 9 Honda 2012 3 Honda 2013 12 Chevrolet 2013 10 Chevrolet 2012 25 Notice that the alphabetical order of the "make" field takes precedence, then, the model year is arranged from oldest to newest. However, the program produces this as the final list: Chevrolet 2012 25 Chevrolet 2013 10 Honda 2011 9 Honda 2012 3 Honda 2013 12 Toyota 2009 2 Toyota 2011 7 Toyota 2012 20 Ford 2010 5 Ford 2011 3 Ford 2012 15 I sat down with a grad student and tried to work out all of this yesterday, but we just couldn't figure out why it was kicking the Ford nodes down to the end of the list. Here's the code. As you'll notice, I included a printList call at each instance of the insertion of a node. This way, you can see just what is happening when the nodes are being put in "order". It is in ANSI C99. All function calls must be made as they are specified, so unfortunately, there's no real way of getting around this problem by creating a more efficient algorithm. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #define MAX_LINE 50 #define MAX_MAKE 20 typedef struct record { char *make; int year; int stock; struct record *next; } Record; int compareCars(Record *car1, Record *car2); void printList(Record *head); Record* createRecord(char *make, int year, int stock); int insertRecordInAscendingOrder(Record **head, char *make, int year, int stock); int main(int argc, char **argv) { FILE *inFile = NULL; char line[MAX_LINE + 1]; char *make, *yearStr, *stockStr; int year, stock, len; Record* headRecord = NULL; /*Input and file diagnostics*/ if (argc!=2) { printf ("Filename not provided.\n"); return 1; } if((inFile=fopen(argv[1], "r"))==NULL) { printf("Can't open the file\n"); return 2; } /*obtain values for linked list*/ while (fgets(line, MAX_LINE, inFile)) { make = strtok(line, " "); yearStr = strtok(NULL, " "); stockStr = strtok(NULL, " "); year = atoi(yearStr); stock = atoi(stockStr); insertRecordInAscendingOrder(&headRecord,make, year, stock); } printf("The original list in ascending order: \n"); printList(headRecord); } /*use strcmp to compare two makes*/ int compareCars(Record *car1, Record *car2) { int compStrResult; compStrResult = strcmp(car1->make, car2->make); int compYearResult = 0; if(car1->year > car2->year) { compYearResult = 1; } else if(car1->year == car2->year) { compYearResult = 0; } else { compYearResult = -1; } if(compStrResult == 0 ) { if(compYearResult == 1) { return 1; } else if(compYearResult == -1) { return -1; } else { return compStrResult; } } else if(compStrResult == 1) { return 1; } else { return -1; } } int insertRecordInAscendingOrder(Record **head, char *make, int year, int stock) { Record *previous = *head; Record *newRecord = createRecord(make, year, stock); Record *current = *head; int compResult; if(*head == NULL) { *head = newRecord; printf("Head is null, list was empty\n"); printList(*head); return 1; } else if ( compareCars(newRecord, *head)==-1) { *head = newRecord; (*head)->next = current; printf("New record was less than the head, replacing\n"); printList(*head); return 1; } else { printf("standard case, searching and inserting\n"); previous = *head; while ( current != NULL &&(compareCars(newRecord, current)==1)) { printList(*head); previous = current; current = current->next; } printList(*head); previous->next = newRecord; previous->next->next = current; } return 1; } /*creates records from info passed in from main via insertRecordInAscendingOrder.*/ Record* createRecord(char *make, int year, int stock) { printf("CreateRecord\n"); Record *theRecord; int len; if(!make) { return NULL; } theRecord = malloc(sizeof(Record)); if(!theRecord) { printf("Unable to allocate memory for the structure.\n"); return NULL; } theRecord->year = year; theRecord->stock = stock; len = strlen(make); theRecord->make = malloc(len + 1); strncpy(theRecord->make, make, len); theRecord->make[len] = '\0'; theRecord->next=NULL; return theRecord; } /*prints list. lists print.*/ void printList(Record *head) { int i; int j = 50; Record *aRecord; aRecord = head; for(i = 0; i < j; i++) { printf("-"); } printf("\n"); printf("%20s%20s%10s\n", "Make", "Year", "Stock"); for(i = 0; i < j; i++) { printf("-"); } printf("\n"); while(aRecord != NULL) { printf("%20s%20d%10d\n", aRecord->make, aRecord->year, aRecord->stock); aRecord = aRecord->next; } printf("\n"); } The text file you'll need for a command line argument can be saved under any name you like; here are the contents you'll need: Ford 2012 15 Ford 2011 3 Ford 2010 5 Toyota 2011 7 Toyota 2012 20 Toyota 2009 2 Honda 2011 9 Honda 2012 3 Honda 2013 12 Chevrolet 2013 10 Chevrolet 2012 25 Thanks in advance for your help. • Glob function (c) and backup file (file~)

    I'm using glob function for a autocompletion function. I'm showing you the problem because it's difficult to explain: matched = ~/.tcsh glob(matched, 0, NULL, &pglob); glob put all matched files in a char ** and when I print it I have: case[0] = .tcshrc case[1] = I should have .tcshrc~ in case[1], but nothing =S, I've seen a flag "GLOB_TILDE" like this " glob(matched, GLOB_TILDE, NULL, &pglob); But it doesn't change anything! Can someone help me?

Is there a performance gain in using a ref or out parameter instead of the standard return value? I.e. is there any performance or other gain in using void function(sometype input, ref largearray) over largearray function(sometype input) ? Thanks in advance!

  • php date() function displaying wrong time

    - by ladaghini
    I'm building a site with wordpress, and when I use the date() function on an otherwise empty file, it shows the right date. However, if I use it in a file that includes other wordpress files, the time is displayed as GMT time, so the date is off. If anyone can figure out how I can use date function without interruption from the wordpress methods, I'd appreciated it.
