  • Why is my javascript function sometimes "not defined"?

    Problem: I call my javascript function, and sometimes I get the error 'myFunction is not defined'. But it is defined. For example. I'll occasionally get 'copyArray is not defined' even in this example: function copyArray( pa ) { var la = []; for (var i=0; i < pa.length; i++) la.push( pa[i] ); return la; } Function.prototype.bind = function( po ) { var __method = this; var __args = []; // sometimes errors -- in practice I inline the function as a workaround __args = copyArray( arguments ); return function() { /* bind logic omitted for brevity */ } } As you can see, copyArray is defined right there, so this can't be about the order in which script files load. I've been getting this in situations that are harder to work around, where the calling function is located in another file that should be loaded after the called function. But this was the simplest case I could present, and appears to be the same problem. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, so I do suspect some kind of load-timing-related problem. But I have no idea what. @Hojou: That's part of the problem. The function in which I'm now getting this error is itself my addLoadEvent, which is basically a standard version of the common library function. @James: I understand that, and there is no syntax error in the function. When that is the case, the syntax error is reported as well. In this case, I am getting only the 'not defined' error. @David: The script in this case resides in an external file that is referenced using the normal <script src="file.js"></script> method in the page's head section. @Douglas: Interesting idea, but if this were the case, how could we ever call a user-defined function with confidence? In any event, I tried this and it didn't work. @sk: This technique has been tested across browsers and is basically copied from the prototype library.

  • Any good SASS parser for PHP?

    I'm currently using a modified CSS Cacheer as an alternative but its syntax is somewhat vague and adoption is, well, abysmally low... Documentation is hard to come by as well. I'm looking to switch to SASS as it has a bigger user base than CSS Cacheer and better documentation. I am aware of phpHaml but it doesn't have support for SASS yet. Any recommendation on a SASS parser for PHP? Preferably it should support SassScript.

    Ok, so I'm trying to select an amount of rows from a column that holds the value 3, but only if there are no rows containing 10 or 4, if there are rows containing 10 or 4 I only want to show those. What would be a good syntax to do that? So far I've been attempting a CASE WHEN statement, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   • Can one Python project use both 2.x and 3.x code?

    Hi all - I'm going to start on a long (~1-year) programming project in Python. I want to use wxPython for my GUI (supports 2.6), but I also want to use 3.1 for the rest of the project (to start using the 3.x syntax). Is there any way for me to design a project that mixes 2.x and 3.x modules? Or should I just bite the bullet and use either 2.x (preferred, since I really want to learn wxPython) or 3.x throughout? However, with regards to Nitrogen, what I am not too keen about is using Erlang's rather uncommon syntax (unless you're native in PROLOG) to build UIs.   • Flex - Disabling the transparent background overlay on a popup

    I have a button in my flex app that creates a popup overtop of everything. However, it seems like flex automatically puts this transparent overlay overtop of the stage when this happens. How do I disable this? I have tried contentBackgroundAlpha="0" and backgroundAlpha="0" with no luck. anyone know what the proper syntax is for disabling this transparency? I have been searching through the docs for a 30 minutes now looking for it.

    Hi, why does such a instruction as mul $t1, $v0 , 4 evaluates as expected. But mul $t1, 4 , $v0 results in a syntax error! I wonder why the first one works, because mul only works with registers per default, so I expect that only a solution like this will be workin li $t1, 4 # set $t1 = 4 mul $t1, $v0 , $t1 # set $t1 = 4 * n I'm using the SPIM simulator.
