• Question about custom events

  I'm making custom events for C# and sometimes it isn't working. This is how I'm making the event happen: private bool isDoorOpen; public bool IsDoorOpen { get { return isDoorOpen;} private set { isDoorOpen = value; DoorsChangeState(this, null);} } And these are the event declarations: //events public delegate void ChangedEventHandler(Elevator sender, EventArgs e); public event ChangedEventHandler PositionChanged; public event ChangedEventHandler DirectionChanged; public event ChangedEventHandler BreaksChangeState; public event ChangedEventHandler DoorsChangeState; This works as long as there are methods attached to the events, but if there isn't, it throws a null ref exception. What am I doing wrong?

• FLV Player Skin Custom URL

  I have a flash banner ad (AS3) which uses a FLV Player component for a remove video. The Skin exports it's own SWF file for user with the video controls as I'm sure anyone familiar with Flash knows. Is there anyway to specify where this file is remotely? I have to provide 1 file to my advertiser, and do not want to have to create custom video controls for this. Is it possible to upload this swf file to a remote location and tell Flash to pull it from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• TFS: how to change custom field allowed values

  I have my custom field of string type with predefined set of values: "1 - Cool", "2 - Good", "3 - Average",... Now it is necessary to remove "2 - Good" value and rename "3 - Average" into "2 - Average". I see easy solution: just delete 2 existing "2 - Good" and "3 - Average" and create the new "2 - Average". Question: Q1: What will happens with issues that contain values to be deleted? Probably, system won't accept such work item change? Q2: What is a good approach to do what I need? Thanks a lot!   I am coding an application for my company wherein i want to parse the results of a mysql query and display them in my application but i am facing a problem conecting to the database. the ip address of the server is : 172.30.192.20 and before i can ping it i have to add route on my pc something like this route add 172.30.192.0 mask 255.255.255.0 172.30.192.56 where 172.30.192.56 is the gateway Now whenever i try to connect 172.30.192.20 which is where the sql server is running my appplication instead connects to 172.30.192.56 i am coding the application in delphi and have used TmySQL After this didnt workout i tried an application called SQLwave. I just entered the server ip address and was able to connect to the database without any problems. it seems sqlwave uses mydac which is why even i tried using it but using the default connection options and setting i was still not able to connect. it seems sqlwave uses a custom connection using mydac i just want to know whats going wrong with my connection

• Secure method for linking to image files uploaded via custom CMS

  How does one provide a direct URL for an image file (JPEG) that is secure? For example, if a PHP script writes uploaded images to directory http://www.somehost.com/images, is it okay to provide http://www.somehost.com/images/someimage.jpg as the URL, or is there a more secure way to do this? Should I look into something like the permalink feature that is a part of Wordpress? I am not sure if that is related. The main reason I ask is that I have a custom PHP/MySQL CMS for managing images. I would like for the client to be able to copy a link to the image they want and then include it in a TinyMCE text editor for inserting the image in their website. Thanks!

• C# - Silverlight - Custom control or UserControl ?

  I need a button that is visually completely customizable, but has custom logic to publish events and manage it's visual state based on events it has registered for. When I say visually customizable, I mean I should be able to both create the button in xaml and set it's style by binding to the supplied style. Or I can create an instance of the button and set the style by passing a parameter to an alternate constructor. Or by calling a method on the button class to set the style. I do not plan on substituting the controls template, it should be a button. Can anyone point me to some code samples of this?

  I have a custom class which I want to "load" inside the firstViewController and then access it from other classes by segues. My Problem is, I can't even access and change the instance variable inside the firstViewController. Somehow I'm "loading" it wrong. Here is the code I used until now: inside viewController.h @property (strong, nonatomic) myClass *newClass; inside viewController.m @synthesize newClass; I then try to access it by: self.newClass.string = @"myString"; if(newClass.string == @"myString"){ NSLog(@"didn't work"); } Well, I get "didn't work". Why is that? When I write myClass *newClass = [myClass new]; It does work. But the class and its properties gets overwritten every time the ViewController loads again. What would you recommend? • Custom Header Menu in Android App (How To)

  I'm trying to implement a custom header menu in my Android application and I'm wondering what the standard or best practice for creating a header menu. I'm thinking something like the facebook app that displays a log and has some action items like triggering a search and possibly return back to the main activity. Tab Layout doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. I found a tutorial here that might be close to what I'm looking for but not sure. It seems a bit redundant to instantiate a menu in every Activity. Seems like there would be a way to decouple the Activity from the menu, or at least more loosely couple it. Perhaps I need to implement something with Fragments but I'm sort of new, so I'm not sure yet. Looking forward to your suggestions or hearing how you've implemented something like this. Thanks!

• IPCop Packet Mangling

  I've found myself in a pickle replacing an old firewall for a client this afternoon. I'm configuring their new IPCop firewall (1.4.21), Zerina OpenVPN addon is installed. What I need to do: There are three network interfaces, currently set up as red (WAN), green (LAN, 192.168.20.0/24) and orange (remote network 10.1.20.0/24). The orange interface is a direct fiber link to another organization. Simple description: Traffic and networks appear to be properly configured at this point, but I have many (150+) specific IPs on the LAN which, when accessing the resources on the 10.1.20.x network, need to be mangled to appear to be coming from the 10.1.20.0/24 network (and return traffic properly delivered). The routing on the far side was configured earlier and should be fine, but I need to redirect any packets coming across destined for those IPs to end up at their proper destination. The addressing is fixed and predictable (ie. 192.168.20.125 - 10.1.20.125). I need to insert whatever rules I have into the IPCop ruleset through /etc/rc.local I know, I'm just not sure about how I should structure this. There's CUSTOMOUTPUT and CUSTOMINPUT targets, both which currently just consist of the single rule redirecting packets to the OVPNOUTPUT/OVPNINPUT targets, so I'm guessing I should insert a rule matching outbound packets destined for the 10.1.20.x network and redirecting to a new target (maybe called TO-ORANGE) and a rule at the top of CUSTOMINPUT which redirects to a FROM-ORANGE target. Under those targets, I would have rules which do the IP matching and mangling. Am I approaching this right? If so, I'm not very familiar with mangle, and would appreciate seeing examples of how to write that source-IP rewrite. If not, how would you suggest doing this? TIA! edit: I notice additionally that the nat table has CUSTOMPREROUTING and CUSTOMPOSTROUTING targets, I guess I could alternatively post the rules in there....

• customErrors="RemoteOnly" not working properly in Server 2008

  It would appear that on my brand new Windows Server 2008 with IIS7, customErrors is not working. We have customErrors set to RemoteOnly in the web.config on our Asp.Net sites and applications. However, no matter what we do, it would appear that our sites act like it's set to On and we can't get any detailed messages showing up on our applications when remoted into our servers. I'm not entirely sure how to trace where this is being overrided, or if there is something in the way the server is configured that would make the server think the request is internal? How does this actually resolve correctly, anyway? Any help is appreciated... Our network admin has added domains to our hosts file to direct applications to the IP address.

• Can No Longer Find Firefox Spell Check Personal Database in Firefox 3

  I have Ubuntu Linux 8.04 LTS with Firefox 3.6.3. Unfortunately it is super easy to accidentally click Add To Dictionary on a word you do not want added into one's personal dictionary used in Firefox. How do I remove the word 'intsead' out of it? I tried some tutorials on the web that said to find ~/.mozilla/*.default/persdict.dat, but I could not see one. As well, others have complained that this file no longer exists in Firefox 3.

• Which hosting will let me execute my own EXE with PHP?

  I have a task that PHP (or any server-side scripting language) isn't practical for. It involves a lot of file I/O, processing, etc. and it will execute a lot faster using the program I made in C instead of PHP. Do any hosts allow you to upload your own EXE files and run them on the server using PHP's exec, shell_exec, etc. functions? Do you need a dedicated server to do this? Also, I don't know if Facebook's PHP HipHop is out yet, but I really don't want to use that.

• IIS7 error config and remote errors

  Certain IIS7/7.5 500.19 configuration errors only render on a browser running on the local server. This appears to happen regardless of whether I set <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" existingResponse="PassThrough" /> in the system.webServer section of a site's web.config file (or even globally for that matter). For example, I had a developer who reported that he was just getting the generic IIS7 500 error page: This was happening even though he had the following configured in his web.config: <configuration> <system.webServer> <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" existingResponse="PassThrough" /> </system.webServer> </configuration> If I browse to the site on the server itself I see (some sensitive info redacted): Would the reason for this be that if the web.config has errors it therefore can't be parsed. Because it can't be parsed the local <httpErrors> setting doesn't get read and thus causes IIS to revert to default settings (i.e. DetailedLocalOnly)? Update: @LazyOne - suggested setting the above config at the server level which I already tried. This resulted in just raw 500 errors:

• HD movies stutter.

  I just put together a new system build in the hopes that all of my daily tasks would run smoothly and without any hiccups. Unfortunately I am still seeing some sound and sometimes video stuttering when playing HD movies in VLC (no problems with xvid/divx files). My setup is as follows: Intel core i5 750 quad core 2.66mhz 4GB ram asus p55 motherboard radeon hd 5570 video card 650gb 7200rpm western digital sata HDD 23" Nec ea23wmi monitor Operating System: Windows 7 What might be the main bottleneck that needs upgrading to fix my delays? Seems like the hard drive might be the problem but anything faster than 7200rpm is beyond my budget for a decent hard drive. Could it be anything else?

  I've achieved a lot on blocking attacks on GameServers but I'm stuck on something. I've blocked major requests of game-server which it aceepts in the form "\xff\xff\xff\xff" which can be followed by the actual queries like get status or get info to make something like "\xff\xff\xff\xff getstatus " but I see other queries if sent to the game-server will cause it to reply with a "disconnect" packet with the same rate as input so if the input rate is high then the high output of "disconnect" might give lag to the server. Hence I want to block all queries except the ones actual clients use which I suppose are in the form "\xff\xff\xff\xff" or .... so, I tried using this rule : -A INPUT -p udp -m udp -m u32 ! --u32 0x1c=0xffffffff -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p udp -m udp -m recent --set --name Total --rsource -A INPUT -p udp -m udp -m recent --update --seconds 1 --hitcount 20 --name Total --rsource -j DROP Now where the rule does accept the clients but it only blocks requests in the form "\xff\xff\xff\xff getstatus " ( by which GameServer replies with status ) and not just "getstatus " ( by which GameServer replies with disconnect packet ). So I suppose the accept rule is accepting the simple "string" as well. I actually want it to also block the non-(\xff) queries. So how do I modify the rule?

• How to tell httpd to preserve the proxied error message?

  I have an httpd server proxying the requests to 2 different tomcat servers. One of my server handles the authentication and returns a specific http error code 521 when the user already have a running session. My issue is httpd automatically maps this 521 error code to a 500 (internal server error) and then my client can not handle it properly. I have tried to disable ProxyErrorOverride, to remove the /error/HTTP_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR.html.var but it does not changes anything. • Nginx Global Error Page

  I see this question was also asked here: Configure Nginx global error page but there wasn't a suitable answer. I am currently allowing only certain IPs to some of my sites and would like Nginx to drop connections from the rest of the IPs instead of returning a 403. Ideally, I would like to do this without configuring each site separately. I have this in the http section: error_page 403 =444; But, now, it tries to serve up the page =444 instead of returning a 444.
