• Qt: Animating the 'roll down' of a QWidget

  I have a QWidget that contains various other widgets. I want to animate it appearing on the screen by gradually revealing it from the top down, increasing it's height from 0 to whatever it's natural height would be. The way I have it currently is: mAnimation = new QPropertyAnimation(this, "maximumHeight"); mAnimation->setStartValue(0); mAnimation->setEndValue(400); mAnimation->start(); This has two issues: - It crashes when the height reaches a certain height, with a "qDrawShadeRect: Invalid parameters" error. - If I change the 0 to 100, it works fine, but the widgets contained within the QWidget I'm animating have their layout changed as the widget animates, starting very squashed together and gradually spreading apart as they get more space. This looks ugly! Does anyone have any suggestions?

• Returning a static array without using a class field

  I have the following base and derived (partial, for sake of brevity) classes: class Base { public abstract int[] someArray { get; } } class Derived : Base { private readonly static int[] _someArray = new int[] { 1,2,3,4 }; public override int[] someArray { get { return _someArray; } } } What I would like now, is put the new int[] { 1,2,3,4 } in the return part of the getter. But, that would create a new array every time the getter is called. Is it possible to directly return some kind of object, which stays the same for all objects of class Derived ? Something along the lines of (I know this is invalid C#): get { return (int[]) { 1, 2, 3, 4 }; }

  One common thing to want to do in the Yahoo Pipes YQL element is pass in a Pipes value to the YQL query. For example: select * from html.tostring where url='<someurl>' and xpath='//div[@id="foo"]' and you want to pass in a dynamic value for <someurl>. Let's say that it's an RSS feed item's URL called item.link. Attempting to simply replace the quoted someurl with item.link gives you this error: Invalid identifier item.link. me is the only supported identifier in this context How can I pass this value in?

• Validation for selected row in JSF h:datatable

  Hi all, I am having a tough time trying to find a solution to the following design related to h:dataTable. I have certain number of rows predisplayed. The first column is only checkboxes. The rest of the columns are disabled by default. On selecting a checkbox the elements in the corresponding rows get enabled. On submit of the for the values in the enabled row have to be validated on the server side. I am able to validate for invalid inputs but am not finding a method to use required="true" conditionally. Or any other method. Could anyone please help me on this. Thanks Barun

• Javascript data parsing in IE vs other browsers... It seems kinda screwed up. What's the deal?

  Firstly, when I say other browsers I really only mean Firefox because that's all I tested in. Internet Explorer can parse a date followed by a single character as a proper date. Whereas Firefox behaves as I'd expect. For example... var dateString = new Date("1/1/2010f"); alert(dateString); In IE it will alert... Thu Dec 31 21:00:00 UTC-0900 2009 Whereas in FF is will spit out... "Invalid Date" I first noticed this using the jquery validation plug in. http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation/Methods/date It seems like it just subtracts some amount of hours off the actual date in IE when a character is appended. I've tested in IE6 and IE8. Am I missing something?

  Hi, I made the upgrade to SP2. I'm trying to use the Lookup function to link data from two different servers. I'm trying first a simple exercise linking data from two datasets from the same server, having one dataset with journals and the other with the account description. My Expression looks like this at a field on the table I have: =Lookup(Fields!ACTINDX.Value,Fields!ACTINDX.Value,Fields!ACTDESCR.Value,"ACCTINFO") I made sure of the names and using only uppercases for datasets and fields but I'm receiving the following message when I try to preview: "An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report '/DETAIL' is invalid. The Value expression for the text box 'ACTINDX' refers to the field 'ACTDESCR'. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current dataset scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified dataset scope". I'll appreciate any suggestions. Regards, Al

• static constants return instance of specific class in Flex?

  So here's what I mean. Let's say I have a class ErrorMessages which holds all my error messages as static constants. So I could access them like ErrorMessages.PASSWORD_INVALID or ErrorMessage.PASSWORD_TOO_SHORT. I want to know if it is possible to have separate classes that hold subset of these constants and access them like ErrorMessages.PASSWORD.INVALID or ErrorMessages.PASSWORD.TOO_SHORT, etc. This way I can more structured static structure and makes it much easier to use autocomplete. I tried few different ways and couldn't figure out if this was possible..

• C++, create an instance from a static method

  Hello, let's say I want my users to use only one class, say SpecialData. Now, this data class would have many methods, and depending on the type of data, the methods do different things, internally, but return externally similar results. Therefore my wanting to have one "public" class and other "private", child classes that would change the behavior of methods, etc... It would be amazingly more simple for some types of data that need to be built to do something like this: SpecialData& sm = SpecialData::new_supermatrix(); and new_supermatrix() would return a SuperMatrix instance, which inherits from most behaviors of SpecialData. my header: static SpecialData& new_supermatrix(); my cpp: SpecialData& SpecialData::new_supermatrix()(){ return SuperMatrix(MATRIX_DEFAULT_MAGNITUDE,1000,1239,FLOAT32,etc...); } The problem is, I get this error, which is probably logical due to the circumstances: invalid initialization of non-const reference of type ‘SpecialData&’ from a temporary of type ‘SpecialData’ So, any ideas?

I have two options, create a new script that runs through and deletes all occurances of ", and then run the above script or modify the above script to ignore the " and contiue running.   I have a web site that built on Visual studio 2008 and i need to run it from my computer (Win 7 Ultimate) as a server I tried to publish it to IIS and this is simply not working and i have the flowing error : Error Summary HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. Config Error This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level.   I'm using Spring's form tag library in a Spring MVC application that I am developing. The company I am working for has implemented some company-wide policies based on the definition of custom attributes for certain tags. For instance, by default (though the inclusion of a standard javascript file) all tags have their values automatically converted to upper case. In order to disable this one would define their tag with a custom attribute in the following way: <input type="text" uppercase="false" /> The problem is that the addition of these custom attributes to a spring:form tag causes an error at runtime. I've pasted the error below. org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /WEB-INF/jsp/reportCriteria.jsp(45,5) Attribute uppercase invalid for tag input according to TLD My question is: is there any way to extend the TLD to allow for these attributes, or is there any other way add these custom attributes to these spring:form tags?

  Let's say you have two kinds, Message and Contact, related by a db.ListProperty of keys on Message. A user creates a message, adds some contacts as recipients, and emails the message. Later, the user deletes one of the contact entities that was a recipient of the message. Our application should delete the appropriate Contact entity, but we want to preserve the original recipient list for the message that was sent for the user's records. In essence, we want a snapshot of the message entity at the time it was sent. If we naively delete the contact entity, though, we lose snapshot integrity; if not, we are left with an invalid key. • What is the response on a REST call where a field is not valid?

  There are many questions on StackOverflow about this, but no definitive answer. I have a REST resource where an entity's field, ProductId, is sent. If the ProductId passed is invalid, what kind of response would you do? I want to send the right response code plus information to the requester on what they can do to fix it. Initial thoughts were 422 with the body containing the list of errors in JSON/XML format. Maybe like this (JSON): [ { FieldName : "ProductId", ErrorCode : "M123", Description : "Product Not Found" }, { FieldName : "Quantity", ErrorCode : "Q001", Description : "Quantity cannot be more than 100" } ] Thoughts?

• Accessing FILESTREAM from an SQL CLR assembly

  I'm trying to stream FILESTREAM data from an unsafe SQL CLR assembly. The connection string is Data Source=LAPTOP2\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=test;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False When creating a new SqlFileStream (inside a SqlTransaction, of course), I'm getting: The request is not supported at OpenSqlFilestream. So I decided to try native OpenSqlFilestream, but then I'm getting an invalid handle (-1) while GetLastWin32Error returns that same: The request is not supported (ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED). I have also tried SqlContext.WindowsIdentity.Impersonate() with no apparent effect. I couldn't find any documentation referencing this restriction. Is it really unsupported? If it is unsupported, is there a good reason? Does anyone know of a workaround?

• iTune redeem codes: limited to a single version?

  Hi, I'm wondering if V1.0 generated redeem codes will be usable on a V1.1 version of my app? BTW, I know redeem codes are valid only 4 weeks and I also know that apps downloaded with a redeem code can be upgraded for free as with paid ones. My concern here is just: do unused redeem codes become invalid when a new version of my app will be available on the store? Apple's doc is not clear about this point.   I'm trying to pass 3 parameter to a script, where the 3rd parameter $_GET['value3'] is supposed to be an array $_GET['value1'] $_GET['value2'] $_GET['value3'] //an array of items I'm calling the script like this: (notice my syntax for value3, I'm not sure it's correct) http://localhost/test.php?value1=test1&value2=test2&value3=[the, array, values] I then use a foreach to hopefully loop through the third parameter value3 which is the array //process the first input $_GET['value1'] //process the second input $_GET['value2'] //process the third input $_GET['value3'] which is the array foreach($_GET['value3'] as $arrayitem){ echo $arrayitem; } but I get the error Invalid argument supplied for foreach() I'm not sure if my methodology is correct. • Error 2908 when installing assemblies into GAC

  Hi, I'm receiving 2908 (0x80131047: The given assembly name or code-base is invalid) error when running my MSI package. The problem occures when the MSI tries to deploy a component with .NET assembly into a GAC. NOTE: only assemblies with dependencies fail. The MSI is created with IS 2010. I am able to deploy the assembly manually with GACUTIL. I verified .NET Framework (all versions upto 3,5)is installed. I verified assembly properties are identical with MsiAssemblyName table properties. However, somehow I had made the installation working fine before. But when the product was moved to Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.0 I started facing the problem. Do you guys have any thought on this. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks much!

  I have written one gtk application but i am getting following X Windows error while running it: The program 'TestApp' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.   Hello I've the following expression in my report. =FormatNumber(MAX(Fields!Reading.Value, "CellReading_Reading"),3) Now when the dataset is empty 'Fields!Reading.Value' becomes empty and finding their maximum is invalid. How can i check if the entire column is empty? I tried the following with no luck. =iif(IsNothing(Fields!.Reading.Value),"",FormatNumber(MAX(Fields!Reading.Value, "CellReading_Reading"),3)) But still i'm getting #Error in the report. I also checked out link and was not able to get a clue from it. I want to handle it in the report level. Thank you. NLV
