  • Analog of Java Form Layout in Qt

    Once I have programmed GUI with Java and have used Form Layouts. Form layout (if I am not mistaken that is from SWT library) made possible to give right, left, top and bottom adges of any GUI element (widget) with respect to other widgets in the same widget (parent widget) or with respect to the adges of parent widget. So it was possible to control the future of widgets that are inside of another one, when that "another widget" is being resized. In Qt I have find the QFormLayout which is similar to Java one, but seems I can't handle with widgets as flexible in terms of relative positioning, as it was with Java's Form Layout. So are there any other means to give a widget position with respect to the others (without overloading resizeEvent function) as that was in Java? Thanks.

  • Smallest Java Runtime I can legally distribute?

    My Java SWT desktop application is distributed with it's own Java runtime and I want to make the download size as small as possible. I'd like to remove all the classes I don't use from rt.jar, but this is forbidden according to JDK runtime licence (see the README.html file in the root JDK folder). Since Java is open source, am I allowed to compile my own 'Java' runtime from source which doesn't have this distribution restriction? If so, has anyone done this already? (Or do you just ignore the JDK licence terms?)

    Hi, when running a Java application as service with the user 'LocalService', the temp directory ("java.io.tmpdir") points to 'c:/windows/temp' (for example). Running a Java application normally gives 'c:/documents and settings/user/local settings/temp' instead. How can I determine the user independent temp folder 'c:/windows/temp' when my application runs normally? Thanks and greetings, GHad

    hello java guys, im thinking of a simple java app (command line) that connects to the internet to download xml file, the problem is that my ubuntu is using a proxy to connect to internet with username and password (tru http_proxy ="http://:@:" ). So My question is, could it be possible to write a java app to use http_proxy variable? instead of programmatically setting http proxy and host in every app i will write.

    Hi there! I was looking for some opinions on the best remote method invocation practices when developing iPhone applications that communicate with Java (java EE) servers. Many iphone applications these days typically talk to a server back end. I typically prefer to write my servers in java using some Spring libraries. So far I have not found or stuck to a definitive practice for iphone-java server communication. What are some technical solutions and libraries that you have used to implement this kind of client-server communication? One thing I always keep in mind is that I want the communication protocols to be simple so that multiple platforms can be added for example, in future adding Android and possibly Blackberry clients, that can use the same protocol to talk to the server.

  • Java looping through array - Optimization

    I've got some Java code that runs quite the expected way, but it's taking some amount of time -some seconds- even if the job is just looping through an array. The input file is a Fasta file as shown in the image below. The file I'm using is 2.9Mo, and there are some other Fasta file that can take up to 20Mo. And in the code im trying to loop through it by bunches of threes, e.g: AGC TTT TCA ... etc The code has no functional sens for now but what I want is to append each Amino Acid to it's equivalent bunch of Bases. Example : AGC - Ser / CUG Leu / ... etc So what's wrong with the code ? and Is there any way to do it better ? Any optimization ?     Android SDK Manager complains "WARNING: Java not found in your path". Instead of using the information from Windows registry, the software tries to search Java in the default installation folders, and fails (I don't install software in program files because I don't like space characters in my paths). Of course I know how to modify the %PATH% environment variable. The question is — which Java does it need? After installing the latest JDK, I’ve got 4 distinct versions of java.exe file, in the following 4 folders: system32, jre6\bin, jdk1.6.0_26\bin, and jdk1.6.0_26\jre\bin. Size ranges from 145184 to 171808. All of them print version “1.6.0_26” when launched with the “-version” argument. The one in system32 has .exe version “6.0.250.6”, the rest of them is “6.0.260.3”. All 4 files are different (I’ve calculated the MD5 checksums). Q1. Which folder should I add to %PATH% to make the Android SDK happy? Q2. Why does Oracle build that many variants of java.exe of the same version for the same platform? Thanks in advance! P.S. I'm using Windows 7 SP1 x64 home premium, and downloaded the 64-bit version of JDK, jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe.

  • Specific path to java class file when embedded into HTML; Help urgent

    This is a resonant post to one of my other query due to an error with Java applet embedded into CMS pages. well, I tell issue:- Problem:- I have a website using Concrete 5 CMS, in which I have a page that I have embedded a Java applet class. This applet should show the system information which this applet is working fine in simple single HTML pages. now whenever I access my plugin Test page which created in Concrete 5 CMS (this page I embedded this java applet), it shows a Java error. The error is says incompatible Magic Number. Observation:- After a lot of searching through various tech forums, I finally found that, the issue is happened because the browser cannot load Java class file. The class file path location is wrong.     Google Chrome keeps telling me that I need to update icedtea, I tried installing them from terminal, didn't work so I'm installing icedtea and icedtea-web from source, when I do ./configure it tells me that fastjar isn't installed so I installed it, then it tells me that gawk isn't installed and I installed it and now it says: checking for a JDK home directory... configure: error: "A JDK JDK home directory could not be found. I have openjdk7 installed, how to fix it?
