• How to replace plain URLs with links?

  I am using the function below to match URLs inside a given text and replace them for HTML links. The regular expression is working great, but currently I am only replacing the first match. How I can replace all the URL?   is it good practice to use iframe to implement header/navbar? my website is basically 5 thousand pages but all static html (not using any content manager, php, etc.). am in the process to add a navbar at the top of each page. e.g. tabs, or crumbs, or any sort of header with js menu. (the exact design not decided yet) my question is, is it good practice to use a iframe for this? (so, instead have same text repeated in all 5 thousand pages, each will just have a short iframe pointing to a header file) am aware that one should reduce http request for speed, but this is ok with me. Any other problems i might have with this? SEO or any tech issue?

  I have an encrypted SQL Server stored proc that I run with (or the vb .net equivalent code of): declare @p4 nvarchar(100) set @p4=NULL declare @p5 bigint set @p5=NULL exec AA_PAY_BACS_EXPORT_RETRIEVE_S @PS_UserId=N'ADMN', @PS_Department=N'', @PS_PayFrequency=2, @PS_ErrorDescription=@p4 output select @p4, @p5 this returns 2 datasets and the output parameters for the results, the datasets are made up of various table joins etc, one holds the header record and one the detail records. I need to get the 2 datasets into a structure in VB .net (e.g. linq, sqldatareader, typed datasets) so that I can code with them, I don't know what tables any of this comes from and there are alot of them Whooopeee!!! I came close using Linq to SQL and IMultipleResults but got frustrated when I had to recode it every time I made a change to the designer file. My feelings are that there must be a simple way to do this, any ideas?

• How to launch a program as as a normal user from a UAC elevated installer

  I'm writing an NSIS installer and the setup program elevates "as administrator" as needed on Windows 7 / vista. I need to run the installed program at the end of the install and don't want to launch it with the same privileges as the installer. The regular NSIS exec commands run the child process with the same permissions as the installer. There is a UAC plugin for NSIS, but the documentation on it isn't great and it seems v. new; I'd prefer not to use that plugin. Ideally, I'm looking for a small .exe I can include that'll launch the target program without UAC elevation. Does this exist? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

• How easy would it be to refactor a small JSP/Servlet/JDBC project to SpringMVC/Hibernate

  With reference to this post, I am considering starting a new web-based Java project. Since I don't know Spring/Hibernate I was concerned if it's a bad plan to start learning them while creating a new project, especially since it will slow down the early development. One idea I had was to write a prototype using tech I do know, namely JSP/Servlets/JDBC, since I can get this running much quicker with my current knowledge. I could then throw the whole thing away and start over with Spring, etc, but I'd like to consider how easy it would be to refactor a smallish project from JSP/Servlets/JDB to SpringMVC/Hibernate? My DB could of course be re-used but what about other code... would I expect to save most of it plugged into an MVC framework, or is the paradigm shift big enough this would cause more trouble than it avoids? Please use the other question for more general advice on choosing technologies

  We are planning to start a fairly complex web-portal which is expected to attract good local traffic and I've been told by my boss to consider/analyse node.js for the serve side. I think scalability and multi-core support can be handled with an Nginx or Cherokee up in the front. 1) Is this node.js ready for some serious/big business? 2) Does this 'event/asynchronous' paradigm on server side has the potential to support the heavy traffic and data operation ? considering the fact that 'everything' is being processed in a single thread and all the live connections would be lost if it got crashed (though its easy to restart). 3) What are the advantages of event based programming compared to thread based style ? or vice-versa. (I know of higher cost associated with thread switching but hardware can be squeezed with event model.) I want to limit displayed information by client: View.aspx has to display everything, View.aspx?client=1 has to display only requests from client ID #1. So I'm using <asp:QueryStringParameter Name="client" QueryStringField="client" /> for query "EXEC getRequests @client". Everything works properly when some client is specified. But don't - if not. I tested my SP using SSMS - it works properly in both cases - when parameter is specified and when it isn't (NULL passed explicitly). What have I do?

• Hudson: where to download file and stop specific builds running ?

  I have a file that is generated inside (hudson server) /var/lib/hudson/jobs/jobtitle/1/out.txt I need to fetch this file, but doing a GET request for http://myhudson:8090/job/jobtitle/1/out.txt doesn't actually locate the file. Basically, I have another box that will grab this file from the hudson server. This box will make the out.txt file available for download. Another challenge is the build number directories. How would I be able to use the hudson API to stop or delete the specific builds running ? I am forced to do iterate through all build numbers to send STOP or DELETE api call in php using wget to do the REST API call. • Sql server execute permission; failure to apply permissions

  I've just migrated from SQL2000 to SQL2008 and I have started getting an execute permission issue on a stored proc which uses sp_OACreate. The rest of the system works fine with the db login which has been setup and added to the database. I've tried: USE master GO GRANT EXEC ON sp_OACreate TO [dbuser] GO But this fails with the following error: Msg 15151, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot find the user 'dbuser', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. I'm logged into the server as sa with full permissions. I can execute a similar sql statement and apply the permissions to a server role, however not a login/user. How do I apply the changes to the specific user/login? I can apply the permissions to the public role and it resolves my issue; however this seems to be a security issue to me which I don't really want to apply to the live server.

• Calling C/C++ library function from PHP

  We have a PHP web app running on a customer's machine. For an update, we have a bit of code in C that we'd like to include as a native opaque library along with the PHP web app. How does one go about calling a C/C++ lib. function from PHP? It cannot be assumed that the PHP app, called by the web server, has any sort of permission to call an exec(), eval(), or system() type of function to execute a C wrapper driver which in turn uses the C/C++ library, so it would need to be a direct C library use from within the PHP code.

  I had stored procedure MySPOld in Sybase db. I created new sp MySP. This new sp returns data while executed from Sybase Sql Advantage. But not returning the data when called from VBA - Excel 2003 (EOF property of recordset is True). Here is my code.. • Update an app from other iTunes/Computer without losing the Documents folder

  Hello, Our inHouse tech have installed our own app to some of our iPods 3.x devices. Now, we have to update that app but WIHTOUT LOSING the data that has been entered by users. The problem is that the computer who installed those app and syncronyzed, isn't working now, and when we try to update them from another computer, iTunes insist in deleting ALL apps and documents app from iPods and add the new ones. I suppose that this action will erase ALL documents from the app, so we will lose the data. What can we do ? thanks, m. ps. those devices have currently an AdHoc profile

• Under what circumstances would a Ruby $LOAD_PATH be acquired from a parent process?

  In my cucumber scenarios, if I call rake db:schema:load within a target Rails app folder, I get the cucumber process's $LOAD_PATH and not the Rails app's own Gemfile/load path. I think this is very weird. The consequence is that I get the following error: no such file to load -- rails/all I can't reproduce it outside of my cucumber scenario. ruby -rubygems -e "system 'rake -T'" works normally - the 'rake -T' has the application's own Gemfile-based $LOAD_PATH; and doesn't generate the error above. Can anyone think why a child process (rake -T or rake db:schema:load or rails runner...; invoked by either system, exec, %x[...] or backtick; would start with the parent processes' $LOAD_PATH (from the cucumber scenario's Gemfile) instead of its own $LOAD_PATH (from the Rails app's Gemfile)?

Any ideas how to solve this?

  I was wondering if it is possible to inject a particular ActionFilterAttribute implementation using a IoC container. For example, imagine you create a TransactionAttribute class [Transaction] You use this to decorate action which should be wrapped in a transaction in the persistence layer. But implementation details of the attribute will be tied to the persistence tech you are using, but strictly speaking, your controller should not know about this, and you might want to swap this out. What I would like to do, is define some kind of TransactionAttribute interface, and then have my IoC inject the correct implantation. So on my actions I only need specify: [Transaction] public ActionResult SomeAction() { .... } ...and the IoC will inject the correct implementation depending on config (eg. something like NHibernateTransactionAttribute, or SomeOtherORMTransactionAttribute). Is this possible? Has anyone done it?

  Hello all, I have two problems which are related. 1) I have a batch file that contains this: net stop wampapache net start wampapache Which tries to stop and start my wamp server. When I double click the stop.bat file with the above it works successfully. When I try to run that from my PHP script, it stops the server but doesn't start it fully which I am guessing is because Apache is waiting for that PHP process to exit? function php_kill(){ exec('stop.bat', $output = array(), $return); return $return; } 2) Is there a way to restart my webserver (apache) whilst keeping session variables that PHP needs available?   I'm looking for a package to support reliably executing external processes from Java. My criteria: Abstract over OS. So if I want to run 'foo', it will look for 'foo.bat', 'foo.exe' under windows and 'foo' under other OSs (or, have a way of passing a map of os-command) Being able to execute Java classes by simply giving the class name and arguments (so the package locates the java command, copies jvm flags and then executes) Process stdout and stderr properly Watchdog / Monitoring capabilities I've looked at commons-exec but it looks like it answers only 3 & 4. Ant has support for execution but looks like an overkill to use it for this purpose only.
