• Can I get back a disabled account from Microsoft Exchange 2010?

  We had an employee leave today and I disabled their account. For clarification I right click the user in the Exchange Management Console and clicked "Disable." I got a message that said "Disabling the mailbox will remove the Exchange properties from the Windows user object and mark the mailbox in the database for removal. Are you sure you want to disable 'Users Name'? I clicked "yes" and not 60 seconds later I was asked to just change the password temporarily. Can I get this account back?

• Java application not starting in Tomcat, Plesk 9 server

  Hi I have a Plesk 9.3 CentOS 5 server on which I installed the addon to have Tomcat functions. One application I have uploaded appears in the Plesk Tomcat user panel but with a yellow exclamation mark and the error "Actual status of the application does not correspond to the status retrieved from the database". The app therefore does not run, while other uploaded test .war applications do. The server runs Tomcat tomcat5.5.23-0jpp.7.el5_2.1 which matches the requirements for the required app according the the company that made it. While searching for the solution I could find all 3 uploaded .war applications in /usr/share/tomcat5/psa-wars/domainhere.com/ but they do not seem uncompressed there even though 2 of them run fine. Not enough Tomcat / Java knowlede to go on... Any idea to help me here ? Best regards.

• Backup tape compression

  What things should I check to confirm that compression is actually happening on our tape backup system? Although the tapes are marked as 200G/520G (native/compressed) capacity, they seem to fill up before the 200G mark (some less than 100G). • Video/films organizing software for mac

  I am looking for application that will help me organize movies, clips and other videos I have. I tell it a folder to watch, and then I can mark every video there as watched/unwatched, set rating, add description, tag it. And possibility to open with preferred video player (for me — VLC). Option to get all info from imdb or other source will be very good. yFlicks would be a good one, but it uses quicktime, so it doesn't like any non standard codec and container (for example mkv), it doesn't work well on Snow Leopard. Any suggestions?

• Input traffic shaping

  I know that I can shape output traffic with tc or a similar tool. However, I want to shape the input traffic now—actually, I want to prioritize downloading of files of certain type through a slow lossy connection. I know the reason tc can only shape output traffic: the host itself has no direct control over the amount of input traffic. On the other hand, TCP has some measures built in it which prevent the TCP traffic from overflowing a slow connection. So, can I mangle something in TCP header so that the remote host will think my connection is slower than it thinks? Suppose that I am able to set the corresponding mark on both types of connections with iptables. Is there any way to reduce the input bandwidth of connections of first type, but only if connections of second type are present?

• Restart single uWSGI application (when it's in emperor mode)

  I'm running uWSGI in emperor mode to host a bunch of Django sites based on their individual configs. These are supposed to update when it detects a change in the config file and this largely works when I just touch uwsgi.ini the relevant file. But occasionally I'll mess something up in the Django site and the server won't load. Yeah, yeah, I should be testing better but that's not really the point. When this happens, uWSGI seems to mark the site as dead and stops trying to run it (seems to make sense). Even after I fix the underlying issue, no amount of touching will get that site's uWSGI process up and running. I have to reload the whole uWSGI server (knocking dozens of sites out at once for a few seconds). Is there a way to force uWSGI to just reload one of its sites?

• After upgrade to Windows 8.1, no Skydrive icon in task bar

  I upgraded to 8.1 and now I don't see the SkyDrive icon in the task bar, nor the green light under it indicating the my computer is communicating with SkyDrive. When I go into Control Panel |..|Notification Area Icons, SkyDrive is listed and noted as Up to date. However even though I mark it to Show Icons and Notifications I don't see any icon in the taskbar. Is it supposed to be this way, or do I have a problem? I kind of got used to that little green synchronizing indicator giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

• In Ubuntu I make changes to php.ini but nothing happens

  Hi, Apache with php works well, but none of the changes I make in php.ini have effect, I've even delete all the contents of the file, then restart Apache, and run phpinfo() and surprisingly everything continues working well. The file I'm editing is the one that appears in the phpinfo() like "Loaded Configuration File". (/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini) P.S. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 and PHP 5.2 Thanks in advance. More Details: I'm restarting with sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart, I've also tried sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 stop, and then start, at restarting I get: Restarting web server apache2 apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName ... waiting apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName [ OK ] "which php" did not produce any results. • Troubles doing transparent proxy for virtual machines

  Hi iptables gurus. First here is the basic topology: Internet | Gateway | Workstation---eth0---virbr0 | +-----+-----+ | | | vm1 vm2 vm3 I need to test a traffic analyzer running on my workstation, listening on some port (say 8990) on eth0. The rule [I think] I want is "any packets leaving virbr0 going anywhere to port 80 must instead go to port 8990 on eth0". My software running on port 8990 does its own check of the NAT packet mangling to push the packets through after it inspects them. I've been banging my head on this, with different variants of: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i virbr0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT \ --to 10.0.0.10:8990 And I've tried the more generic method of using the mangle table with --set-mark and ip rule add fwmark, but I'm not getting it. I guess what's confusing me is that everything runs on the same box. Thanks for any guidance.

• Cannot reformat flash drive

  I have tried to reformat on Ubuntu using gparted, in Windows using their tool, and OSX using Disk Utility. I have also attempted by using the terminal but also failed there. My requirements are: should be accessible via a browser should be open source must be installable (dropbox is a no-go) must have an option to put a access time limit on a file must perform garbage collection automatically after a file expires must be able to mark files as public or private an option to protect a file via a pin-code for users without accounts in the system would be nice to have The problem is I don't even know what to search for - all my googling results in either complete groupware solutions or p2p file sharing software. If such a thing doesn't exist, please don't hestitate to say so, so I can crawl to a corner and cry myself to sleep. TIA

  If I have a 32 bit version of SQL Server 2005 running on a 64 bit Windows Server does the max amount of memory avail. the SQL Server process increase from 2gb to 4gb. In reading this blog entry by Mark Russinovich in which he states that "All Microsoft server products and data intensive executables in Windows are marked with the large address space awareness flag" and "Because the address space on 64-bit Windows is much larger than 4GB, something I’ll describe shortly, Windows can give 32-bit processes the maximum 4GB that they can address and use the rest for the operating system’s virtual memory." which leads me to believe that the answer is "yes" but I not totally confident.

• How can I tell if my live web-server is overloaded?

  We have a live webserver which doesn't seem to be performing all that well. It's a Dell PowerEdge machine, a few years old (dual core, 4GB) which is hosting about 20 low-traffic websites. However it doesn't seem to be as fast as it used to be. How can we determine the cause of this? If it's website traffic, I would be expecting high CPU but CPU usage is quite low and hovers around the 15-30% mark except for very brief periods. I'm wondering perhaps, if rather than CPU performance being a problem, perhaps it's disk thrashing due to the constant read/writes of all the small web files and database queries. It has 4x 7200 RPM SATA drives in RAID 5. So is there a way to check that it's not disk thrashing?

  I have tried to install usb driver for Samsung arndale on Windows 7. Now it has two entries in Device Manager. I can not uninstall the one with question mark. If I uninstall both of them, when I plug in the hardware, Windows 7 will automatically install both of the entries when the circuit pulg in. I don't get the chance to choose the right driver. When I try to update the wrong driver, it says found the driver but can not install it.

So I'm accepting the answer which was my original solution anyway of using Linux.   It seems I cannot install the current version of OpenVPN (2.1.2) because the TAP driver is not signed and therefore windows 7 x64 refuses to install it. It shows up in the device manager, but with a yellow exclamation mark. It's a fresh system, and OpenVPN was never installed before. When I start the OpenVPN client it seems to connect fine, but then it stops with CreateFile failed on TAP device: ... All TAP-Win32 adapters on this system are currently in use. • Outlook 2010 stopped marking messages as read after reading them

  Yesterday I noticed that Outlook 2010 had stopped marking messages as read unless I right click and select Mark as Read. I have checked the Reading Panel settings (it's set to 0 seconds), but I don't use the reading panel to read my mail. When I open a message by doubleclicking it, then close it again, the message is still marked as Read. Outlook 2010 is connecting to Exchange Server 2003. This was working fine until yesterday. As far as I know there have been no config changes at either the client or server end.

  I didn't have an answer to my problem about adding additional keyboards in my Ubuntu 10.04. Questions mark is not working in my keyboard, only using Alt Gr key + W. So, I don't know if this is a problem with Ubuntu or Virtualbox itself (I'm running it inside a VM). I would like to debug this problem. The keyboard is plugged in, so when I press a key I believe something is being sent to my operating system, some code, I don't know. I would like to digg this problem, find some damn key code and find some damn *.conf file and manually fix my problem. So, do an application like this exist in Linux?

• Mac OS X: How to change the color label of files from the Terminal

  Is there a way I can set the color label of a file to some color when in the Terminal? I know that the following command lists some info about what the color currently is, but I can't figure out how to do something about it. Like change it. mdls -name kMDItemFSLabel somefile.ext The reason I would like to know is that I want to recursively mark all files in a folder of a certain type with a certain color label (in my case gray). I know how to do the finding: find . -name "*.ext" And I know how I can run the command afterwards for each file using -exec, but I need to know how to do the actual labeling... I would like a solution that only involves commands built-in to Mac OS X. So preferably no 3rd party stuff, unless there is no other way.

• Two Network Adapters on Hyper-V Host - Best way to configure?

  I have two physical network adapters installed in my Hyper-V host. I want one to be dedicated to the host, and the other to provide external network services to the VMs. Would the appropriate configuration be as such: Leave the first physical network adapter alone, assigning it the host IP, but not using it to create any Virtual Netorks For the second physical adapter, I would create an External Network, along with a Microsoft Virtual Switch, and use that to provide network services to the VMs. Each virtual NIC for the VM would be associated with that External Network. A static IP would be assigned to this adapter, and each VM would be assigned a static IP as well. The above seems reasonable to me, but I'm not sure if it's correct. Does anyone have any thoughts?
