• Google webmaster Index Status. Total Indexed=0

  I previously changed my domain from www.visualstudiolearn.blogspot.com to www.visualstudiolearn.com... i had around 300 posts with the previous domain name and most of them where showing up on Google. Now that i have changed my domain name the index status shows total indexed as 0 and when i go to the advanced tab it says 304(not selected) and 217 blocked my robots. Im really depressed because of this situation. could you please help out???

  Paypal offer Automatic Billing Buttons (https://merchant.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_html_autobill_buttons#id105ED800NBF) which allow regular billing for different amounts. After a couple of hours googling I cannot find how to access this functionality using the API, so that it can be automated as opposed to done manually via the paypal account. Is it possible? But it needs a lot of custom programming (and has a very strange voucher-system). Customer has to add the File into the basket and add the voucher at checkout. I want to skip that ;) Is there a Webshop (Or CMS + Plugin) which provides the things I need?   I have a Linux VPS, DirectAdmin as web panel and already set a domain to it. everything is OK and I can see my website in my browser using domain name. Now I need to have access to my site using its IP address. something like http://86.57.88.29, but when I try to load my site in a browser using its IP I get below message and I have to post-fix my IP with /~admin (http://86.57.88.29/~admin) to get it work. This IP is being shared among many domains. To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser. So how can I configure my IP to point to my public_html folder without and ~admin like phrase? Thanks.

• Magento error when Fedex shipping from US to Canada

  When shipping from the US to Canada, the Magento 1.3.x shipping module allows Fedex ground shipping, but should not. International Ground should be the minimum available going to Canada, since Fedex charges a paperwork fee on top of the transportation costs. Is there a way to fix the module, or do we have to resort to removing Canada from Fedex's permitted countries and setting up an entirely different shipping option for Canada?

• Google authorship verification issue

  I'm trying to get my blog content author verified so my face gets into the Google search results. I managed to achieve this a few weeks back - When testing my content in the Google authorship testing tool it reported that I had been verified and I could see my mug in the results. All I had to do was wait a couple of weeks before I started popping up in the search results (I think(?)). However, I seem to have thrown a spanner in the works. I set up Google apps for my domain and merged my old Google+ profile into my google apps account. This seemed to reset my Google+ profile (no biggy, since it was a new profile and only had 1 connection). I re-set up my G+ account and tied it all in to my blog and it's content. I am now seeing some very strange behaviour. If you take a look at one of my blog posts through the snippet testing tool: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.fraser-hart.co.uk%2Fjquery-fullscreen-background-slideshow%2F&html= You will see that it is not recognising me as an author. However, when you enter my profile URL (https://plus.google.com/108765138229426105004) into the "Authorship verification by email" input, you will see that it does in fact recognise it as verified. Now, if you try and verify the same page again, it reverts back to unverified. I thought I may have to just wait it out but this has been over a week now and previously (before I merged my profile) it happened instantaneously. Has anyone experienced this bizarre behaviour before? What is happening here? More importantly, is there anything I can do to resolve it? (Apologies for the long and boring question). Cheers!

• Allow access to WordPress site only by links in email newsletters

  I send out a personal email newsletter, and have been looking into sending it via some service like MailChimp, or sendy.co. Many of these email services suggest, or require, the email newsletter content to be available online, in case the recipient's email app doesn't render it properly, or at all. The thing is I don't want my newsletter contents visible to the whole world. Nor do I want to require existing recipients to make accounts/be assigned accounts, with passwords. So, the question is: How can my WordPress site content be viewable only by clicking on the link to it in the email newsletter. It can't be found in a Google search; but once at the site the visitor can view previous newsletter contents. It seems an .htaccess file would do the trick, but I have been unable to figure out the syntax for this. Thanks for your help. • # id - urls with id first display full page, then move to #id

  I've noticed this in the new version of chrome, and ie9 and 10. Some urls in a photo gallery have a #id tag as they are supposed to display a full view of a picture. Basically, a div in a lower position on the page has that #id that i call via a.com/1.html#id. This has never been an issue until lately, when i noticed a bit of a lag. The issue: The website loads normally, then the view moves to the #id as supposed, but with some lag sometimes, perhaps because of the high resolution of the picture, which is somewhat noticeable. Anyway to avoid this, or make it so the page would move to the correct #id even before fully loaded?

• 403 error on index file

  When I try to access index.py in my server root through http://domain/, I get a 403 Forbidden error, but when I can access it through http://domain/index.py. In my server logs it says "Options ExecCGI is off in this directory: /var/www/index.py". However, my httpd.conf entry for that directory is the same as the ones for other directories, and getting to index.py works fine. My permissions are set to 755 for index.py. I also tried making a php file and naming it index.php, and it works from both domain/ and domain/index.php. • How to point GoDaddy to EntryDNS domain

  I have a server connected via dynamic IP. I have set up EntryDNS to manage the change of my IP. If I put in my EntryDNS URL it points me to my server's current IP. I purchased a domain from GoDaddy, but I have been unable to get it to point to my EntryDNS. What I want is to be able to ssh to my server, but ideally I'd like to do this by using my domain name. I must confess I'm a bit overwhelmed by the GoDaddy interface. So the bottom line is, how do I point my GoDaddy domain to my DNS domain so that when I look up the domain I get the current IP of the server?

  I need to implement a blog into a clients site as he is unhappy with his current basic CMS driven solution. It needs to suit both seo and the current style and as I'm a front end dev/designer and they don't have budget to redevelop - the only solution I can think of is to setup a Wordpress blog and restyle to suit. My only worry about this is the current press reports on WordPress being affected by webbots. I understand the main worry Is if you use an id of admin, but I'm concerned that regardless of this the site could be bombarded with bot requests and cause timeouts! Is this valid? If so is there any way to avoid this issue!? If not can anyone recommend another good SEO friendly blog solution!?

• Fix 403 errors in Google Webmaster Tools

  Hi Team, I have a domain that has "fallen off a cliff" for searches in Google. Searches that used to be in position 1-4 are now gone from page 1. The same search in Bing shows the typical position expected (top 5 results). In reviewing Google Webmaster Tools, I am seeing two problems: 1. The Sitemap is reporting two errors: General HTTP error: HTTP 403 error (Forbidden) URLs not accessible However, the URL they provide as "no accessible" is accessible. I can click the link Google provides and it works fine. There are 6,000 crawl errors of type 403. Again, most of these pages that have 403 are accessible in my browser (tried various browsers as well). About half are from January, the other half from November. There are no IP-specific firewall rules on ports 80 and 443 that could block the goolgebot Using the user agent switcher add-on for FF I confirmed that the page loads when the user agent is the googlebot I an confirm that most of the pages reported as 403 are accessible. A search of just "site:thedomain.com" does confirm there are over 9,000 in the index. But most searches don't return the site. I believe the 403 issues are the cause of the fall in search rankings, but I can't seem to find any information online with ideas about how to address this. Any ideas? jpe

Upon sign-up, new AWS customers receive 5 GB of Amazon S3 storage, 20,000 Get Requests, 2,000 Put Requests, 15GB of bandwidth in and 15GB of bandwidth out each month for one year. source:aws.amazon.com , emphasis mine. 20,000 GET requests & 2000 puts mean , 20,000 page views(max) and 2000 file uploads per month. Isn't that lower than what App Engine offers 43,200,000 requests per day.Am I missing some thing, please help.

• How do you set up the directory structure for a multilingual site without duplicating content?

  I want to make a website in two languages. I've looked around and settled on the directory option of separating both languages. How do I make it work? Let's say I have the following three files for the landing homepage, the English page and the Spanish page: http://www.domain.com/index.html http://www.domain.com/en/index.html http://www.domain.com/es/index.html Let's also say that /index.html will be in English, with a link to /es/index.html. In turn, /es/index.html will have a link to the English version. Would this be back to /index.html or to /en/index.html. How do I get both English versions (the one at the root and the one in the directory) to actually be the same file in the same directory? I'm new to this, so I'm not using any scripts yet. To me, the obvious solution is to duplicate both English versions and have the one at the root point to files under the /en/ directory, but I'm not a fan of duplication and I've learned that search engines really frown upon that. Anyone point me in the right direction?

• Trade off: Lower the number of URLs in sitemap from 43k to 23k or update the sitemap.xml only weekly basis

  we rewrote the sitemap creation process. Now the sitemap contains 43.000 URLs. 20k more than before. We have daily changing in URLs. The script that is creating the complete sitemap takes more than 30h. So we can not build it every day. Lets say that increasing the speed of the script is not possible. What should I do? A: Stay with the 23k URLs and update it daily B: Increase number of URLs to 43k and update it weekly

• Can inbound links through template-based layouts result in penalties?

  So obviously link building is encouraged as long as it is natural, organic and has meaningful links with content relevant to your site. Obviously with the constant release of new updates to algorithms, Google is flagging sites for unnatural links to their sites. My Question is: Can this be caused by templating systems? With WordPress for example, where you can add a link on the footer and it is repeated throughout the entire website generating thousands of links? If we don't add any links, Good Content will be re-posted and linked to, surely if your content is constantly linked to this will flag your site for "unnatural" content as it's difficult to see if someone has been paid to write an article on your content. Or does Google just simply want us to audit some of the links to show we are making an effort? As you can tell we have had a Manual action for: Unnatural links to your site—impacts links. However, this seems to impact our website as well. Edit: To clarify the question: Can you get penalised for paying for advertising on a site that uses a templated sidebar. So when they create a new blog/page ect your link is also added onto the page hence resulting in 1000's of links to one page on our site. I know that one effect maybe a 0 pagerank web page linking to your page dilutes the PR of our page. However the links are only inbound not reciprocal

Example: Instead of /user.php?id=123, I have /user/123 Instead of /index.php?category=fishes, I have /fishes But, how do I handle non-existent subdirectories such as /about/123? Currently it gives a 200 success instead of a 404 not found error. Is there a way to deal with non-existent subdirectories in Apache config and at the same time allow for friendly URLs? Or do I have to handle this individually for each PHP script?

• Lost Traffic from Google Because of Meta-tag Adding

  I have a site aroundnails.com. It has English version on subdomain en.aroundnails.com. Reading about language related meta-tags for Google, I have placed such a meta tag on the main page of main site: <link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href="http://en.aroundnails.com/" /> By this way I have tried to say Google, that my site on en.aroundnails.com is the english version of main site, not a duplicate. After a fortnight I have lost a huge part of traffic from Google, more than a half. At the beginning of September I have moved this meta-tag, but traffic remained at the same level. Hope somebody can help me to solve this issue.
