  • rails validation of presence not failing on nil

    I want to make sure an attibute exists, but it seems to still slip thru and I'm not sure how better to check for it. This should work, but doesn't.   • ASP.NET MVC - Add XHTML into validation error messages

    Hi, Just starting with ASP.Net MVC and have hit a bit of a snag regarding validation messages. I've a custom validation attribute assigned to my class validate several properties on my model. When this validation fails, we'd like the error message to contain XHTML mark-up, including a link to help page, (this was done in the original WebForms project as a ASP:Panel). At the moment the XHTML tags such as "< a ", in the ErrorMessage are being rendered to the screen. Is there any way to get the ValidationSummary to render the XHTML markup correctly? Or is there a better way to handle this kind of validation? Thanks

  • pass other form elements to ajax suggestion box script

    I paid somebody to build me a jQuery AJAX suggestion box script a while back. It works great. Now I'm trying to learn about it enough to modify it to do something different. Right now, the script that generates the suggestions just takes the query text and does the same check every time. Now, I want to be able to pass along additional info so different things are looked for with each instance of a search box. The HTML... simple, obvious. input class="suggest" name="q" type="text" autocomplete="off" / The jQuery looks like this: jQuery(document).ready(function() { $('.suggest').autocomplete( { source:'output.php', minLength:3, focus: function (event, ui) { $(event.target).val(ui.item.label); return false; } } ); [snip] } Instead of: source:'output.php', minLength:3, I'd like: source:'output.php?arg1=blah1&arg2=blah2', minLength:3, where arg1 and arg2 are passed along in the form... input class="suggest" name="q" type="text" autocomplete="off" / input type="hidden" name="arg1" value="blah1" input type="hidden" name="arg2" value="blah2" Does this make sense?     I find that even if I just declare an element like $this->addElement('textarea', 'txt1'); I find that it already has decorators set Zend_Debug::dump($this->getElement('txt1')->getDecorators()); http://pastebin.com/7Y24g62w I want to test that I didn't set decorators using setDecorators() or using something like $this->addElement('textarea', 'txt1', array( 'decorators' => array(...) )); If I didn't set any decorators then apply default decorators, how can I do that. I want to apply default decorators per element basis, not using Zend_Form#setDisableLoadDefaultDecoraotrs()

  • ldap login form works, but need to add active-directory group access

    I created a form that asks you to log in, then verifies the user/pass against the ldap server/active-directory, if successful, it creates a session, which will be checked on every page. Now I want to check the session, which is the username of the person who is logged in, and do a search for them using ldap_search, so I can check what group they belong to and pass that group thru a function to verify that they can view that page. Each page will accessible to a certain group or groups of users, which those groups are defined within Active Directory. I am unsure on how I can do that using ldap_search, or maybe that is just one piece of the puzzle I am trying to solve. Any help is appreciated - thank you!   • JQuery - is at least one checkbox checked

    I am in the process of learning JQuery thanks mostly to the positive reference here on Stack Overflow. I need a function that checks all the checkboxes in an element which have the same CSS class. It should returns true if at least one of them is checked. There are also other boxes in the element that are irrelevant to the check. The CSS class is unnecessary and only in place to create a way to identify the checkboxes in the group. It feels like bad practice, so any recommendations about other ways to identify them are welcome.

  • Given a main function and a cleanup function, how (canonically) do I return an exit status in Bash/Linux?

    Context: I have a bash script (a wrapper for other scripts, really), that does the following pseudocode: do a main function if the main function returns: $returncode = $? #most recent return code if the main function runs longer than a timeout: kill the main function $returncode = 140 #the semi-canonical "exceeded allowed wall clock time" status run a cleanup function if the cleanup function returns an error: #nonzero return code exit $? #exit the program with the status returned from the cleanup function else #cleanup was successful .... Question: What should happen after the last line? If the cleanup function was successful, but the main function was not, should my program return 0 (for the successful cleanup), or $returncode, which contains the (possibly nonzero and unsuccessful) return code of the main function? For a specific application, the answer would be easy: "it depends on what you need the script for." However, this is more of a general/canonical question (and if this is the wrong place for it, kill it with fire): in Bash (or Linux in general) programming, do you typically want to return the status that "means" something (i.e. $returncode) or do you ignore such subjectivities and simply return the code of the most recent function? This isn't Bash-specific: if I have a standalone executable of any kind, how, canonically should it behave in these cases? Obviously, this is somewhat debatable. Even if there is a system for these things, I'm sure that a lot of people ignore it. All the same, I'd like to know. Cheers!

    Hi, I have a teacher profile model which has many subjects (separate model). I want to add subjects to the profile on the same form for creating/editing a profile. I'm using accepts_nested_attributes for and this works fine for creation.   • Is there a way to allow a property of a user control to be modified only during design time?

    I've looked into the DesignOnly attribute, but that doesn't seem to accomplish what I want*. Basically, I'm looking for some way to indicate that some property of a user control (let's say Text) can be modified during design time -- i.e., from the Windows Forms designer in VS (or presumably from any GUI designer that can be used to modify a Windows Forms GUI) -- but not during run time. Once the application is running, the property should effectively be readonly. Is this possible? * When I add the DesignOnly attribute to a property, the value I select for that property from design mode doesn't seem to stick; the property just ends up being whatever I have it set to by default in code.

    Hi, I'm trying to remove duplicates from a Dojo FilteringSelect without changing the contents of the attached itemFileReadStore data store. I can't seem to find any information on how this is done, if it is indeed possible. I'm thinking I may have to extend the FilteringSelect Dijit and provide the functionality myself but I'm hoping to not have to. The reason I'm trying to remove duplicates with the FilteringSelect and not the data store is because I'm using the same data store with three instances of the FitleringSelect, each displaying different values from each row of the store.

  • need to change TextBox.Text inside TextChanged, something forces form close

    I am making a TextBox behave like if it could store a null value. In order to do that, i have a variable NullMode that indicates wether the value is stored is Null, and in TextChanged i set that to false, and on specific user action i set it to true and Text to a value that indicates that there is null inside the textbox. Then, based on NullMode, textbox is drawn differently. Now, i have a semaphore-like approach in order to prevent event handle from firing when i dont need it. Here is how it looks: private void input_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (_preventTextBoxEvents) return; _preventTextBoxEvents = true; //if (NullMode) // Text = ""; NullMode = false; ValidateInput(); _preventTextBoxEvents = false; } Now, if i need to set a textbox text to something that should show while in nullmode, i just set _preventTextBoxEvents before i do to true and it works all right. BUT! I need to also remove the text when user tries to input something into the textbox! So i need to set Text to "". Problem is, if i uncomment that, form is closed after the event handler exits. I cannot prevent it (e.Cancel = true in FormClosing doesnt help!) and do not understand what can be causing it. There is no error message too (and i'm not doing try-catch). My logic, when i do Text="". OnTextChanged should fire, it should call my TextChanged and it will see _preventTextBoxEvents is true and exit, so there would be no stack overflow / infinite recursion. What is going on?

    I wrote a simple Cuke feature for a form on a demo site. The feature looks like this. Given I am on the home page When I set the "Start Date" to "2010-10-25" And I set the "End Date" to "2011-1-3" And I press the "Go" button Then I should see "Cake Shop" The idea is that after I press the Go button, a new page will load, showing a list of results, and one of the results should be "Cake Shop." But I have not managed to get this to work. Is there something that I am missing? Edit: here is the step definitions. Can someone point me to a resource specifically oriented towards reproducing table-based, multiple-column forms (like name and address forms) in CSS to standards? Most of the forms I see only have a single column with field/value.
