  • jquery ui css not loading and creating poblems with asp.net mvc3 page (unexpected token error)

    hi, So I suspect Im doing something silly, but first off, I can see that my mvc3 project already had jquery ui in it but no theme css files. I needed a date picked and as usual needed to override the EditorFor DateTime. I started off today by just using the default jquery ui js files supplied with the project under scripts. The date picker shows up fine, only with a completed messed up UI based on Site.css. So now I downloaded a build of jquery (with the start theme) and followed this page about how to put it together. Im using T4MVC so my page looks like this: Layout.cshtml : <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_1_4_4_js" type="text/javascript"></script> <link href="@Links.Content.Site_css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="@Links.Content.start.jquery_ui_1_8_7_custom_css" type="text/javascript"></script> Create.cshtml <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_validate_min_js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_validate_unobtrusive_min_js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_ui_1_8_7_custom_min_js" type="text/javascript"></script> And this is the result: Any ideas, Ive been googleing for a while now, I tried a couple combinations of where I put the script and css files tags in different places, but nothing seems to work.

  • Recommended approach to port to ASP.NET MVC

    I think many of us used to face the same question, what's the best practices to port existing web forms App to MVC. The situation for me is that we'll support both web forms and MVC at the same time. It means, we create new features in MVC, while maintaining legacy pages in web forms, and they're all in a same project. The point is: we want to keep the DRY (do not repeat yourself) principle and reduce duplicate code as much as possible. The ASPX page is not a problem as we only create new features in MVC, but there're still some shared components we want to re-use the both new / legacy pages: Master page UserControl The question here is: Is that possible to create a common master page / usercontrol that could be used in both web forms and MVC? I know that ViewMasterPage inherits from MasterPage and ViewUserControl inherits from UserControl, so it's maybe OK to let both web forms and MVC ASPX page refer to the MVC version. I did some testing and found sometimes it generates errors during the rendering of usercontrols. Any idea / experience you can share with me? Very appreciate to it.

    Hello, I have a dictionary I'm passing to a View. I want to be able to pass the values of that dictionary back to a Controller action from this same View. Is there anyway this can be accomplished without using a form? The situation is that I need to be able to pass these back to a controller action that is called when a user clicks an ActionLink from the View, and in my experience an ActionLink cannot be used to submit a values of a form, i.e. I've only been able to submit values of a form using the form's submit button. Unless there's a way to use an ActionLink to submit values in a form.

  • Starting with asp.net MVC

    Hello, Actually im doing a home page that only have an action called Index() that returns the view Index.ascx. This index page will be composed by lastest news and lastest registered users, i think that create two partial views is the best idea (this way i could use it in other views). for other hand i have a data access class that calls to database for get stuff (get last news, get last users, etc...) My question is simple, should i call to the this data access class in the Index() action of my HomeController, and add to the ViewData the data obtained? I think that this index() action shouldnt be the responsable of passing this data to the partial views, right? Could you give me a hand? im messing too much? ;-) Thanks in advance. Best Regards. But issue is, when my page is getting load dis() is not getting called. I want to run dis() on page load too. I tried google, some blogs suggest the use of Page.RegisterStartupScript Method. But I dont exactly know what is the problem and why we should use this above mentioned method. I would appreciate if someone please tell me why this function is not getting called and how to call it.     In Html 5, there is an new attribute on textbox call autofocus. The problem is it is a boolean value (there or not there) It should look something like : <input name="a" value="" autofocus> I try : <%= Html.TextBox( "a", null, new { autofocus } ) %> But, it's give me an error because I'm not setting a value to autofocus... I know I can do it manually, but can I do it with Html.TextBox ?

    I'd like to have a dataset or datatables, and be able to run SQL statements on them, without using any external RDBMS. For Example, to take take 2 datatables in a dataset and just join them outright with a SQL statement and Where clause, the result being a new datatable?     I am developing an application in MVC 3. I installed this provider via Nuget . Basically, it allows to use any part of memberships, rules and profiles with a .sdf (compact) database. I need the "Web Site Administration Tool" use this provider. But I can not use it. Already checked the web.config and everything is ok. When I open the "Web Site Administration Tool" on the Security I click test (any provider) and the error happens. The following images. Error when clicking test "Could not establish a connection to the database.   • Convert Null Value to String - C#.NET

    foreach (PropertyInfo PropertyItem in this.GetType().GetProperties()) { PropertyItem.SetValue(this, objDataTable.Rows[0][PropertyItem.Name.ToString()], null); } In one of the loops i get this exceptional error: Object of type 'System.DBNull' cannot be converted to type 'System.String'. The error occurs because one of the fields in the database has no value (null), so the string property could not handle it. How can i convert this null to string? I got this solution If you know a shorter or better one, feel free to post it. I'm trying to avoid checking on every loop is current value is null or not.

  • ASP.NET ListView, custom DataSources, and editing items

    The MSDN walkthroughs provide a number of examples where you can drag a DataSource from the toolbox, run through some simple configuration steps, then drag a ListView onto the screen, point it at the DataSource, and hey - you've got full table editing. Now I'm trying to write my own DataSource class (a class that implements System.Web.UI.IDataSource) and my own DataSourceView class. I now assign an instance of this custom DataSource class to the ListView.DataSource propery. The display of all the items is working well. However, updating, inserting and deleting just is not working. I'm overriding every function I can in my DataSourceView class, and they just aren't being called. This is such a huge topic, I'll focus this question on one simple example: When you press the "Edit" button (the button inside the ItemTemplate with a CommandName of "Edit", you expect the ItemTemplate to be replaced by an EditItemTemplate. This did not happen. The only way I could get it to happen was to handle the onitemediting event. protected void _listViewPublicHolidays_ItemEditing(object sender, ListViewEditEventArgs e) { _listViewPublicHolidays.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex; _listViewPublicHolidays.DataBind(); } This is hardly a problem, but how come I had to do it at all? In the MSDN walkthroughs where I attach a ListView to a LinqDataSource, this code doesn't have to be written. Can someone who's been here before hazard a guess as to what would be different or missing in my custom datasource?

I have not used Thread Pool. I wanted to know when windows service is stopped, then how to identify how many threads are running and whether they are complete. If all the threads are executed then windows service can be stopped successfully. Otherwis windows service should wait until all threads are executed or aborted. How to implement this.

    It seems the most obvious thing, but I just can't work out how to get the length of bytes sent over a network using a TCPClient and TCPListener? This is my code so far: 'Must listen on correct port- must be same as port client wants to connect on. But the networkStream.length is unsupported and does not work and throws an Notsupportedexception. The only other way I can think of is to send the size of the data before sending the data, but this seems the long way round.

    How can i fetch the value 500 to a variable from the selected row? One solution would be to get the row position number and then the CustomerID position number. Can you please give a simple solution. SelectedItems means selected row and SubItems means the column values, so SelectedItem 0 and SubItem 0 would represent the value 500. Right?     I'm trying to set the Default URL of my MVC application to a view within an area of my application. The area is called "Common", the controller "Home" and the view "Index". I've tried setting the defaultUrl in the forms section of web.config to "~/Common/Home/Index" with no success. I've also tried mapping a new route in global.asax, thus: routes.MapRoute( "Area", "{area}/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { area = "Common", controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); Again, to no avail.

  • Anyone using ASP.NET MembershipProvider with Nhibernate?

    Hi, I'm trying to implement Membership controls in a mvc 2 application and i'm having trouble dealing with the MembershipUser class. I have my own data store (in Postgresql) and I'm using Nhibernate to deal with it from C#. The thing is, I have my own user class, but I can't use it with any provider I found that implements Membership, because all the functions return the predefined MembershipUser class and cannot return my own. I'm losing my mind here, is there any way i can work with this, or should I implement everything myself? thanks in advance!
