  • SharePoint Transferring pages to Production

    I am building an internet site, using my local machine as the development box (I have MOSS 2007 installed). I have a custom master page, packaged in a WSP, so I may use STSADM on the production server to install it. I have made some pages via SPD (on my local machine) and put them in the "Pages" gallery. What is the recommended way to get these pages to production. Also, is the process the same when I make edits to current pages?

  • SharePoint Cannot Log in after making entry in hosts file

    I'm building a MOSS 2007 site on Windows 2008 R2, 64 bit. Not wanting to use my machine name or IP in the URL, I made an entry in my hosts file: 127.0.0.1 mydev.com I can surf to the URL, http://mydev.com, but when I try to log in (Windows Authentication), I am denied. I am able to successfully log in if I take out the hosts file entry, and surf to http:// Do I need to edit something else for the authentication to work when I want to use a custom URL like mydev.com that is only mapped in the hosts file?

  • SPF record doesn't work (not sure which DNS server to tweak)

    Problem: Google (and perhaps others) marks our emails as SPF neutral. Let me give you some background about the setup: initially got a dedicated server (Hetzner) with Plesk installed to host a domain/web application, let's say: bigjaws.com. Plesk automatically creates a DNS zone for it with some records for the various services it provides out of the box, e.g. webmail.bigjaws.com as a CNAME to bigjaws.com to provide Horde/whatever, etc. Let me point out four relevant of these records (where XXX.XXX.XXX.158 is our dedicated IP): bigjaws.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.158 mail.bigjaws.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.158 bigjaws.com MX (10) mail.bigjaws.com. bigjaws.com. TXT v=spf1 +a +mx -all The above records are not(?) valid anymore though, because after using this dedicated server for a while, our site got bigger and bigger so we decided to move our operations over to AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, etc), but we retained the mail functionality as is, i.e. emails from [email protected] are sent by connecting to our dedicated server where Plesk takes care of things. This was decided in order not to setup anything from scratch. Of course for all DNS-related things we now use Route53. In Route53 I have the following records: mail.schoox.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.158 bigjaws.com. MX (10) mail.bigjaws.com bigjaws.com. SPF "v=spf1 +ip4:XXX.XXX.XXX.158 +mx ~all" From my understanding of SPF, the SPF status should have been passed: I designate that all email being sent by bigjaws.com from XXX.XXX.XXX.158 are valid/not spam (I added +mx there but I'm not sure if needed). When a mail server receives an email, doesn't it lookup the SPF record of the domain and checks against the IP it got the email from? Checking with spfquery: root@box:~# spfquery -ip XXX.XXX.XXX.158 -sender [email protected] -rcpt-to [email protected] StartError Context: Failed to query MAIL-FROM ErrorCode: (2) Could not find a valid SPF record Error: No DNS data for 'bigjaws.com'. The domain bigjaws.com has authorized static.158.XXX.XXX.XXX.clients.your-server.de (XXX.XXX.XXX.158) to send mail on its behalf, so the message should have been accepted. It is impossible for us to say why it was rejected. What should I do? If the problem persists, contact the bigjaws.com postmaster.     I am worried about my account expiry date. I created an account on AWS in July 2013 and submitted my credit card details on 31st Oct 2013. I went in Billing Management Console/Bills section where when I click on Date, I can see months ranging from July 2013 to Nov 2013. From AWS FAQs I gathered When does the AWS free usage tier expire? The AWS free usage tier will expire 12 months from the date you sign up. So WHEN will my account expire, July 2014 (sign up date) or Oct 2014 (credit card details submission date) ?

  • Content organizer auto create folder has wrong time in sharepoint 2010

    Hi, I have a problem, I am using the content organizer feature to redirect document on upload and the auto create folder feature of it, the property used is a date set by the user when the document gets uploaded. My problem is that when the folder gets created it writes the time set by the user minus two hours, I see that it uses GMT time while everything on the server, the site and the computers is set to UTC+2, so how come it still uses GMT time ? Can someone help me out please. Thank you.

    Hi I want to create contact form with SSL. I have created simple asp.net contact form without ssl and now i must add it. It is in Sharrepoint project but seems to be the same case as in asp.net form. I have anonymous webapplication and won't be any login usecase, so whole webapplication must work via http:// but when user go to contact form, it must work via https:// I know how to do the redirect to https:// programatically, I've been searching how to configure SSL on IIS but it seems to not be the case?? I don't wont whole webappliation to work via https, only my contact form - how to do that and how o onfigure that? The data from my form will be passed to database, but it is not important here.

    Is it possible to increase the length of the Title column for a site above the 255 characters. My requirement is that I use a field that is longer than the maximum 255 chars but because the Title column is a required field I need to enter something in it. Rather than enter garbage just because I have to, I would like to use it. If not, then my current thoughts for a workaround will be make a copy of the first 255 chars of a seperate column that I am able to make longer.

    I have an API which looks like /summary/yyyy/mm Which returns the summary of their data for the year and month requested. One of the things it returns the number of days left if this is current year and month. For example: days_left: 9 for 2013 and 10 and current date on server is 21 Oct 2013 How I calculate remaining days? This is implemented in python as def current_financial_month_details(self): time_from, time_to = self \ .get_start_end_time_current_financial_month() today = datetime.today() from_time = datetime(year=today.year, month=today.month, day=today.day) return { 'time_from': time_from, 'time_to': time_to, 'remaining_days': (time_to - from_time).days } The problem? The server is in east coast and the client(me with browser) is on pacific time zone When its 9PM PST the time changes in east coast, so if I run hit /summary/2013/10 and if it is Oct 21 2013 for me on PST, the date has already changed on EST, so days_left: 8 which is incorrect on client end. right? How do I handle this situation?

    I am trying to create a workflow to send an e-mail whenever a new version of a file is uploaded to a Document Library. The Document Library has lots of fields that, if updated, will create a new version of the ListItem, but I don't want to start the workflow for this cases. Only when a new version of the document is uploaded (including the first version) I want the workflow started. My document library does not need approval, only major versions are enabled and it does not need to checkout files before editing. Is there a way of doing this, even programmatically?

To check this, I was looking at the content type of the list item being updated and it is correct properties.ListItem.ContentType.Name "Experiment Document Set" So basically I have a workfow associated with the content type "Experiment Document Set". When I try to start a workflow from an event receiver in "Experiment Document Set", I get an error saying the content type "Experiment Document Set" does not exist in the list which doesn't make sense.

  • Designers, Expression or SharePoint Designer, and real source control

    I'm trying desperately to move from VSS to a real source control system. Options include TFS and SVN. My designers need to keep their ability to modify source files and instantly preview their changes in a browser without having to commit their changes. Using FPSE with VSS, this works flawlessly, since saving a file causes the copy in the working folder on the dev server to be updated, so they can just save and refresh their browser which is pointed at the dev server. The site in question consists of 350k+ lines of classic ASP code and some new ASP.NET MVC. They only need to be able to modify views within the MVC code, not C#. Though Expression includes a version of Cassini for local debugging, Cassini does not support classic ASP. Surely someone has solved this problem before. It can't be necessary to install IIS on each designer's machine (this is absolutely untenable). I need a way to have a common working folder on a dev webserver updated whenever someone saves a file locally, just like using FPSE. I'd rather not write an FPSE proxy that knows how to talk to TFS/SVN. Any suggestions? (I know I've asked this question in the past, but I haven't yet found a solution.)

I am using listboxes and doing listbox.Items.Add(title); but how to get Id also and specially hidden from users like lookup column does....means I can do like this... listbox.Items.Add(title+"#;" + SPListitem.ID)... but I dont want this.... Any idea how to achieve this...

  • Sharepoint 2010 Calendar Event Receiver

    I have been tasked with creating a calendar in a root site that get's updated from child site calendar events. I am able to access the Calendar List from the parent site in the child site's to add an event. However, I'm having trouble finding a way to create a uniqueIdentifier for the event so that when the child calendar's event is updated or deleted, the parent site calendar get's updated as well. The ListItem ID field appears to be only unique among the site. I did find a UniqueItemId field, but apparantly it's read-only in the SP LIstitem object. Can someone please give me some guidance here? Many thanks!
