  • No audio with streaming video

    - by Chris Barnhill
    I am having trouble with audio when playing streaming videos. My sound card is fine. I know this because if I play sounds from my local machine, there's no problem. It's only when I try to play sounds from the internet that I lose audio. This only started happening recently when I did 2 things: I connected a USB headphone/microphone set to record screencasts I began recording/publishing screencasts from screenr.com. I have tried playing video both with the headset connected and without it connected: it makes no difference. If I record a screencast on screenr.com and preview it, I hear the audio. But once I publish is and play it, there is no audio. I also hear no audio with YouTube videos. I really hope someone can help. Thanks. The latest is that the problem went away after I powered my system off and on. A reboot didn't do it, I had to actually shut down the power.

  • Run 3 monitors on two different video cards?

    - by hullot
    Can I run 3 monitors on two different video cards? I have an ATI and Nvidia brand card. The ATI has 2 HDMI connections. They both work. Both cards are also picked up in Windows, one being the ATI and the other one as the Nvidia, but it says VGA Controller, although the card only takes 2 DVi. So, one DVI cable goes into that Nvidia card. 3 Monitors, but only 2 the HDMI ones from the ATI pick up, not the third one which is connected to the Nvidia via DVI. How can I run three monitors then? I suppose I can't install both drivers, so I'm unsure what to do. Is this possible? I just want the Nvidia card to power the third screen, no gaming on it, nothing. Also the ATI is picked up as primary card as well, so no hurdle there. EDIT: Hm, just installed the Nvidia drivers and it picked up the third screen no problem. Hope there aren't any major conflicts. Will post this as an answer as correct when I'm able. Can't as a new user.

  • OpenCV Video capture and fps problem

    - by Andrea Girardi
    Hi to all, I'm capturing video from my webcam using OpenCV on MacOSX. It works fine but when I try to play on QuickTime my captured video it plays too fast. i.e. I capture from camera for 10 seconds but when I play on QuickTime the video is 2 seconds. I've tried to change fps from 25 to 10 and It's works quite fine, but I'm sure it's not the correct process: CvVideoWriter *writer = 0; int isColor = 1; int fps = 25; int frameW = 640; // 744 for firewire cameras int frameH = 480; // 480 for firewire cameras The problem is that for now I've to capture with WebCam but the real pourpose of program is to capture image from any external source connected to my Mac. I'm using this code to capture: for (;;) { cvGrabFrame(capture) image = cvRetrieveFrame(capture); cvWriteFrame( writer, image ); } Any hint? I'm also showing webcam output on cvNamedWindow, how can I improve quality in this windows? thanks a lot to all! Andrea!

  • Facial recognition/detection PHP or software for photo and video galleries

    - by Peter
    I have a very large photo gallery with thousands of similar people, objects, locations, things. The majority of the people in the photos have their own user accounts and avatar photos to match. There are also logical short lists of people potentially in the photo based on additional data available for each photo. I allow users to tag photos with their friends and people they know but an automated process would be better. I've used photo tagger/finder from face.com integrating with Facebook photos and the Google Picasa photo tagger for personal albums also does the same thing and is exactly what I'm looking to do. Is there a PHP script, API for Google Picasa, face.com or other recognition service or any other open source project that provides server-side facial recognition and/or grouping photos by similarity? Examples: As you can see, various photo sharing sites offer the feature, but are there any that provide an API for images stored on my own server or something extensive enough to link into my own gallery and tagging system? viewdle - Face recognition/Tagging for video PHP - Face detection in pure PHP Xarg OpenCV Face.com - app for finding and tagging photos in Facebook Google Picasa - photo sharing TeraSnaps - photo sharing site Google Portrait - photo grouping from Google Image results FaceOnIt - Video face recognition PittPatt - Detection, Recognition, Video Face Mining BetaFace ChaosFace - Real-time Face Detector

  • Stretch video to full screen in a SurfaceView extension

    - by SS
    I have created a widget that is an extension of SurfaceView (very similar to [VideoView][1]) and I am working on a feature to stretch the video fully across the device screen when certain action is taken. I've looked at onMeasure function of VideoView and re-wrote it this way: @Override protected void onMeasure(int widthMeasureSpec, int heightMeasureSpec) { if (mStretchVideo) { super.onMeasure(widthMeasureSpec, heightMeasureSpec); } else { int width = getDefaultSize(mVideoWidth, widthMeasureSpec); int height = getDefaultSize(mVideoHeight, heightMeasureSpec); if (mVideoWidth > 0 && mVideoHeight > 0) { if (mVideoWidth * height > width * mVideoHeight) { height = width * mVideoHeight / mVideoWidth; } else if (mVideoWidth * height < width * mVideoHeight) { width = height * mVideoWidth / mVideoHeight; } } setMeasuredDimension(width, height); } } This seems to work fine if I completely stop the video and start playing again. Now I am trying to force the refresh of this SurfaceView after setting the stretch flag so that the video gets stretched while it is playing, but I couldn't figure out how to force a refresh on SurfaceView. I tried android.view.View.invalidate(), android.view.View.refreshDrawableState() and calling android.view.View.measure(int, int) directly with different combinations but did not get any success. Any ideas?

  • How to record video in iphone

    - by Timmi
    HI, I need to record video using iPhone. To do that i used UIImagePickerController. I have an iPhone 3G, with me. when i run my code to check if source type available it says device not supported. My OS is 3.2.1, where i am wrong, can some one tell me what i need to change. Also is there some other way to record video. What i need to do is to get the video stream as it is recorded. UIImagePickerController *picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; NSArray *sourceTypes = [UIImagePickerController availableMediaTypesForSourceType:picker.sourceType]; if (![sourceTypes containsObject:(NSString *)kUTTypeVideo ]){ NSLog(@"device not supported"); return; } //picker.allowsEditing = YES; picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; picker.mediaTypes = [NSArray arrayWithObject:(NSString *)kUTTypeVideo]; picker.videoQuality = UIImagePickerControllerQualityTypeHigh; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; Thanks,

  • Playing video and audio in iPhone not working...

    - by Scott
    So we have buttons linked up to display images/videos/audio on click depending on a check we do earlier. That part works fine. It knows which one to play, however, when we click the buttons for video and audio, nothing happens. The image one works fine. The video and audio are being taken for a URL online, they are not local, but everywhere said this was still possible. Here is a little snippet of the code where we play the two files: if ( [fName hasSuffix:@".png"]) { NSLog(@"PICTURE"); NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString: fName]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData: [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]]; self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; // self.view.backgroundColor = [[UIColor alloc] initWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"MainBG.jpg"]]; [self.view addSubview:[[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]]; } if ( [fName hasSuffix:@".mp4"]) { NSLog(@"VIDEO"); //NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:fName ofType:@"mp4"]; //NSLog(path); NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:fName]; MPMoviePlayerController *player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:url]; [player play]; } if ( [fName hasSuffix:@".mp3"]) { NSLog(@"AUDIO"); NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:fName]; NSData *soundData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]; AVAudioPlayer *avPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithData:soundData error: nil]; [avPlayer play]; } See anything wrong? By the way it compiles and runs, but nothing happens when we hit the button that executes that code.

  • Youtube video on load through Jquery/JS

    - by jonthecoder2346
    My goal is to display a youtube video through a javascript function that will read the embedded code and load the video automatically in the div assigned. But I am not getting anything shown in the div assigned for the video. Is it because it has to be triggered by a button click? <script type="text/javascript"> var last_cnad_text_1 = ''; var options_cnad_text_1 = { embedMethod:'fill', maxWidth:320, maxHeight: 320 }; function loadVideo() { val = $('#cnad_text_1').val(); if ( val != '' && val != last_cnad_text_1 ) { last_cnad_text_1 = val; $("#embed_cnad_text_1").oembed(val,options_cnad_text_1); } } $(function(){ $('#cnad_text_1').keydown(loadVideo()); $('#cnad_text_1').click(loadVideo()); $('#cnad_text_1').change(loadVideo()); }); </script> <body> <input id="cnad_text_1" type="text" value="" size="60" name="cnad[text_1]"> <div id="embed_cnad_text_1"></div> </body> </html>

Thanks in advance for any try Note: The embedHTML differ as it may come from youtube or any server or from my JWPlayer.

  • django/python: is one view that handles two sibling models a good idea?

    - by clime
    I am using django multi-table inheritance: Video and Image are models derived from Media. I have implemented two views: video_list and image_list, which are just proxies to media_list. media_list returns images or videos (based on input parameter model) for a certain object, which can be of type Event, Member, or Crag. The view alters its behaviour based on input parameter action (better name would be mode), which can be of value "edit" or "view". The problem is that I need to ask whether the input parameter model contains Video or Image in media_list so that I can do the right thing. Similar condition is also in helper method media_edit_list that is called from the view. I don't particularly like it but the only alternative I can think of is to have separate (but almost the same) logic for video_list and image_list and then probably also separate helper methods for videos and images: video_edit_list, image_edit_list, video_view_list, image_view_list. So four functions instead of just two. That I like even less because the video functions would be very similar to the respective image functions. What do you recommend? Here is extract of relevant parts: http://pastebin.com/07t4bdza. I'll also paste the code here: #urls url(r'^media/images/(?P<rel_model_tag>(event|member|crag))/(?P<rel_object_id>\d+)/(?P<action>(view|edit))/$', views.image_list, name='image-list') url(r'^media/videos/(?P<rel_model_tag>(event|member|crag))/(?P<rel_object_id>\d+)/(?P<action>(view|edit))/$', views.video_list, name='video-list') #views def image_list(request, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode): return media_list(request, Image, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode) def video_list(request, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode): return media_list(request, Video, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode) def media_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, mode): rel_model = tag_to_model(rel_model_tag) rel_object = get_object_or_404(rel_model, pk=rel_object_id) if model == Image: star_media = rel_object.star_image else: star_media = rel_object.star_video filter_params = {} if rel_model == Event: filter_params['event'] = rel_object_id elif rel_model == Member: filter_params['members'] = rel_object_id elif rel_model == Crag: filter_params['crag'] = rel_object_id media_list = model.objects.filter(~Q(id=star_media.id)).filter(**filter_params).order_by('date_added').all() context = { 'media_list': media_list, 'star_media': star_media, } if mode == 'edit': return media_edit_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context) return media_view_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context) def media_view_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context): if request.is_ajax(): context['base_template'] = 'boxes/base-lite.html' return render(request, 'media/list-items.html', context) def media_edit_list(request, model, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id, context): if model == Image: get_media_edit_record = get_image_edit_record else: get_media_edit_record = get_video_edit_record media_list = [get_media_edit_record(media, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id) for media in context['media_list']] if context['star_media']: star_media = get_media_edit_record(context['star_media'], rel_model_tag, rel_object_id) else: star_media = None json = simplejson.dumps({ 'star_media': star_media, 'media_list': media_list, }) return HttpResponse(json, content_type=json_response_mimetype(request)) def get_image_edit_record(image, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id): record = { 'url': image.image.url, 'name': image.title or image.filename, 'type': mimetypes.guess_type(image.image.path)[0] or 'image/png', 'thumbnailUrl': image.thumbnail_2.url, 'size': image.image.size, 'id': image.id, 'media_id': image.media_ptr.id, 'starUrl':reverse('image-star', kwargs={'image_id': image.id, 'rel_model_tag': rel_model_tag, 'rel_object_id': rel_object_id}), } return record def get_video_edit_record(video, rel_model_tag, rel_object_id): record = { 'url': video.embed_url, 'name': video.title or video.url, 'type': None, 'thumbnailUrl': video.thumbnail_2.url, 'size': None, 'id': video.id, 'media_id': video.media_ptr.id, 'starUrl': reverse('video-star', kwargs={'video_id': video.id, 'rel_model_tag': rel_model_tag, 'rel_object_id': rel_object_id}), } return record #   • Creating an Improved Digital Zoom

    - by Kazar
    Hey, Ok, so I have a given video source (for the sake of the example, it is a camera). It does not have optical zoom, but we supply digital zoom instead. Now this digital zoom is pretty simple, simply cropping the image to a specified portion, and filling the screen with that portion. The problem is that the zoomed video can have pretty rubbish quality when the digital zoom is enabled. I am wondering if anyone knows of an approach by which a higher quality of digital zoom can be achieved in real-time. The software is on Windows, and the video is rendered using DirectShow, but it isn't a platform solution I'm necessarily after, more just a better approach to the problem. Cheers

  • Architecture of chatroulette

    - by user317163
    Could somebody explain to me the architecture behind chatroulette? I was thinking about a similar project that would only implement Audio support (for starters). Is the best way to set this up a flash server? If so, how should I go about getting into flash, will I need flex 4? I have some beginner experience with c++, c# and java but I have never developed anything for the web. I was also wondering how the randomizer matches up the participants. How would you code something like this. Im obviously pretty clueless here and I'd greatly appreciate some advice regarding this problem -- I don't expect copy and paste solutions. It would just be nice to hear how you guys would tackle this problem. Thank you very much

    Hi, I have recently moved my RoR app on the Heroku platform, and almost everything works fine apart from the videos. It works fine when my app runs in local but not on heroku. This is the error log I'm getting, if anyone knows where it can be coming from: Processing VideosController#new (for IP at 2010-03-20 04:32:09) [GET] Session ID: 6abecf60c3369d7c7029e366bb801e08
