Dynamic DataGrid columns in WPF DataGrid based on the underlying set of data (and their type)

Hello everyone, I've got kind of a conceptual question. I am in the process of wrapping some statistics classes I wrote into WPF. For that I have two DataGrid(-Views, currently in WinForms). In one DataGrid each row represents a column in the other. There I can set-up different variables (as in mathematical/statistical variables) with fields like "Header", "DataType", "ValidationBehaviour", "DisplayType". There I can also set-up how it should be displayed. Some Columns can automatically be set to ComboBoxColumns, some TextBoxColumns, and so on and so forth. So, now once I've set-up these Columns I can go to the other grid and enter my data. I may, for instance, have generated (in grid 1) one Column called "Annual Gross Salary" with input of numerical values. Another Column called "Education" with "0=NoEducation", "1=College Level", "3=Universitary" etc. These labels are displayed as text in the combobox and my statistics engine behind then selects the respective value (0-3) for calculations (i.e. ordinal, nominal variables). Sooo. In WinForms I could basically generate all the columns by hand in code and then add my data in the respective cells/rows. Now in WPF I thought that must be easy to realise. However, yesterday I got started with ICustomPropertyDescriptor which (maybe I was too thick) didn't give me the results I was looking for. Basically, I just need to be able to dynamically generate columns (and rows) with different Layout, Controls (ComboBox, simple Input, DateTimes) based on the data that I have. But I don't really know how to go about it? So here in summary: DataGrid 1 Purpose is to display columns that have been specified in DataGrid 2 In rows, the user can add any kind of data in the rows below the columns that is allowed as to the columns specifications DataGrid 2 Each row in this grid represents a column in DataGrid 1 Contains fields like Name/Header, DataType, Validation Behaviour, Default Value, Data Formatting, etc. Also contains a function to be able to set-up how it should be displayed. The user can select from, for instance, ComboBoxColumn (and also add the available options), DateTime, normal TextBox, CheckBox etc. After finishing adding a row it will automatically appear as a new column in DataGrid 1 I'd appreciate any kind of pointer into the right direction. Develop for WinCE with VS2010

I have a VS2003 WinForms app running on WinCE (running on proprietary hardware so a switch is out for now) and I'd like to know if I can upgrade it to VS2010 (or 2008). In doing so, I lose the option to deploy it to a WinCE emulator. Is this situation just broken, or do I have options.

App.Config Transformation for Visual Studio 2010?

For Visual Studio 2010 Web based application we have Config Transformation features by which we can maintain multiple configuration files for different environments. But the same feature is not available for App.Config files for Windows Services/WinForms or Console Application. There is a workaround available as suggested on the following link. http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2010/05/applying-xdt-magic-to-appconfig.html However it is not straightforward and requires no of steps. Is there an easier way to achieve the same for App.Config files?

WiX major upgrade refuses to replace existing file!

Hello! I have inherited this project with a WiX installer, and am required to make this version usefully upgrade the previous one! My problem comes in replacing the database files with new versions. No, the problem is not that they are locked, I can replace them manually, and in fact now ONE of them is replaced, while the other is not. Please, please tell me what I'm doing wrong here. I've tried several other solutions (including registry keys as KeyPath instead of CompanionFile) but nothing is quite working. WPF Radiobutton equivalent

What is the WPF equivalent for WinForms radio button CheckedChanged? I have your basic 2 radio button set up, where when one is selected a textbox is enabled and when the other is selected it is disabled. For the time being I was using RadioButton_Checked, except, I set IsChecked true for one button in the xaml. When I reference the textbox in that Checked method it throws NullReferenceException... Let me know if you need code.

Add jpeg image to another in C#

Hey, I have a two jpeg files. One is 1024x768 in size and the other is 64x64. I'm creating a console application and would like to add the 64x64 image at location (X,Y) into the 1024x768 image. How can I do this in memory (since I'm not using winforms and would like this to be quite fast)? I've converted the larger image into bytes using File.ReadAllBytes, but I'm not sure how to insert the smaller image at a particular location. Thanks for any help

In the utmost basic sample for instance have an dictionary and generate a form from that depending on the datatype in the Dictionary ofcourse it should be able to fill the same dictionary in the controller. System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser login dialog doesn't appear

When I navigate to an intranet site requiring windows authentication, the WinForms WebBrowser control isn't displaying a login dialog. But it will display (after refreshing the page) if I first open Internet Explorer and view the same page. Also, if I make the URL refer to my local IIS instance, the login dialog will appear. Any ideas? Thanks!

Some of my requirements are: real time plotting, 3D (waterfall), multiple axis, ability to accept BindingList as a data source and recognize any changes to the data. How does one build Mono with only the ECMA covered parts?

I'm trying to figure out how to build Mono without the patented, non ECMA components, such as Winforms. Miguel de Icaza said that Mono would be split in two, so that we could build only the parts under Microsoft's Community Promise. It doesn't seem like this has happened yet.
