• Getting error ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2048 at everything I'm doing in Eclipse

  Hi, whatever I'm doing in Eclipse, I get an error. At start up I get an error at Java tooling initializing. I get an error when I want to open a type. And it's always the same error. For example, when opening a type I get: An internal error occurred during: "Cache refresh". 2048 The error at the start up also prints the error code as 2048. I'm using the most up to date version of Eclipse. • xampp apache on windows 7 returns http header only

  i am having issues with xampp running on windows 7 RC32 i type in a localhost and get a header back only, no page content somedays it works fine, other days i can't get it to work after multiple attempts, reboot or otherwise the request doesn't even get put into the acccess log which seems unusual here is the log file at startup incase that helps any ideas ??   I am facing an issue where, the CSS3 background is not rendered in WebBrowser control in Windows Phone 8. • apache with php fastcgi keeps going down

  I have an apache2 server configured with MPM worker and php fast cgi. Lately the apache logs have been telling me that MaxClients is being reached frequently, even though it's already pretty high. • Windows 7 Not Starting and System Repair Not Loading

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 When turning on my PC I keep receiving a black screen with the option to use System Repair or Start Normally. Both options lead me to the System Repair background except no matter how long I wait the system restore options never show up. Choosing F8 and running all of the options including safe mode encounters the same result above. I tried to to use 2 system recovery disks 32x and 64x I downloaded and both lead to similiar results. When I choose System Repair running from the disk the System Repair Question asking to select a language pops ups but after this no matter how long I wait no other options appear. Next after restarting and selecting F8 (after hitting f12 and running from CD) I choose 'Run From Safe Mode with Command Prompt' I am able to run all of the options from System Restore with differing results: Startup Repair: Choosing this ends up in system repair indefinitely (left running 12 hrs) System Restore: Does Nothing. PC thinks for a second and then stops. When selecting ShutDown I see an error message stating there are no restore points. System Image Recovery: Service Cannot be started in Safe Mode Windows Memory Diagnostic: Runs test but then leads to system repair background which never loads system repair Command Prompt: chkdsk /r -Cannot Lock Current Drive...write protected. chkdsk /f -Cannot Lock Current Drive...write protected. bootcfg - Cannot open Boot.Ini file bootcfg - Ran all 3 (rebuildBcd, FixMbr and Fixboot) but PC still goes to System Repair background with no repair options popping up upon restart (without recovery CD). I'm on the verge of purchasing a boot utility disk for $50 unless there is anything else short of "take it to a computer shop" that somebody can suggest I try.

• IIS permission configuration issue

  Sorry the title of this question is a little ambiguous but I don't really have any idea where the issue lies - I'm seeking some clarification of the server error logs. Basically, I had a dedicated server running Windows 2003 and Plesk (v8 I think). Last week the server hardware failed and the entire thing had to be rebuilt from scratch. New hardware was put in, new operating system (Win2008), new Plesk installation (v9.5), new software (MSSQL etc) then all data ported over manually from old C and D drives to restore all 30 client sites. It was hell! All has been okay for a couple of days now but about an hour ago POP! Suddenly all sites went down giving a 500 error. Restarting all services eventually brought everything back online, but I'm now living in total fear. It can - and probably will - happen again. The guys on support gave me the following errors from the server log: The Template Persistent Cache initialization failed for Application Pool 'ASP.NET v4.0 Classic' because of the following error: Could not create a Disk Cache Sub-directory for the Application Pool. The data may have additional error codes.. The worker process for application pool 'domain1.com(domain)(2.0)(pool)' encountered an error 'Cannot read configuration file ' trying to read configuration data from file '\\?\C:\inetpub\temp\apppools\domain1.com(domain)(2.0)(pool).config', line number '0'. The data field contains the error code. The worker process for application pool 'PleskControlPanel' encountered an error 'Cannot read configuration file ' trying to read configuration data from file '\\?\C:\inetpub\temp\apppools\PleskControlPanel.config', line number '0'. The data field contains the error code. The support guys are so ambiguous about this and it scares me horribly. Can anyone positively identify the cause of this error which lead to all client website going offline? What can be done to prevent it from happening again? • Investigating a potential CPU failure

  On a Ubuntu server that I am using for computations I have recently observed that some CPU extensive programs (GUROBI,CPLEX) often segfault. Being in correspondence with tech support of the respective programs I was suggested that it may be a hardware issue. The administrator of the server performed a detailed memtest and it turned out that the RAM modules appear to be fine. Hence I've used the tool mprime to test the CPU and the following two lines appear multiple times durring the execution of the stress tests: [Worker #4 Oct 18 18:47] FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.498046875, expected less than 0.4 [Worker #4 Oct 18 18:47] Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. The stress.txt file in itself is not very verbose about what could be the cause of this error so I would like to ask whether anyone here happens to know what could be the cause of this issue? Is there some other test I could perform to nail the problem even further? The temperature of the system (and all cores) was fine during the entire stress test (+69.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +98.0°C)) the CPU in question is a Intel Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz and is not overclocked or modified in any way. Also what is interesting that if I run mprime to only stress the CPU all tests pass fine. The error is only triggered when I let mprime stress the CPU+RAM.

• Microsoft Application Request Routing with Windows Authentication

  I'm running into a problem trying to get Windows Authentication working in an environment that uses Microsoft Application Request Routing and was hoping someone might be able to help. The problem I'm running into is that only some requests are authenticated, while others fail with 401 errors. I have followed the Special Case of Running IIS 7.0 in a Web Farm instructions found at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webtopics/archive/2009/01/19/service-principal-name-spn-checklist-for-kerberos-authentication-with-iis-7-0.aspx to no avail. My current server setup looks like the following: ARR Two servers set up with IIS shared configuration using IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Anonymous authentication turned on for the Default Web Site Web Farm Two servers running IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Three web sites set up using port binding to differentiate between virtual hosts. Ports being used are 8000, 8001, and 8002 Application pools for Windows Authentication all use a common domain account SPN added to domain account for http/<virthalhost-name>:<port-number> and http/<virtualhost-name>.<fully-qualified-domain>:<port-number> The IIS logs show the following when authentication is working/failing. • Enabling JMX for proxool with tomcat

  I am trying to get proxool's MBeans available so that I can see/manipulate them with jconsole. I have jconsole working, but I don't see anything related to proxool. The system is using Sun Java 1.5.0_17 (I know, I know... I'm working with the developers to upgrade). • memory tuning with rails/unicorn running on ubuntu

  I am running unicorn on Ubuntu 11, Rails 3.0, and Ruby 1.8.7. It is an 8 core ec2 box, and I am running 15 workers. CPU never seems to get pinned, and I seem to be handling requests pretty nicely. My question concerns memory usage, and what concerns I should have with what I am seeing. (if any) Here is the scenario: Under constant load (about 15 reqs/sec coming in from nginx), over the course of an hour, each server in the 3 server cluster loses about 100MB / hour. This is a linear slope for about 6 hours, then it appears to level out, but still maybe appear to lose about 10MB/hour. If I drop my page caches using the linux command echo 1 /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches, the available free memory shoots back up to what it was when I started the unicorns, and the memory loss pattern begins again over the hours. • What could cause an 101 Error in WAMP under Windows 7 ?

  Hey, I'be been using WAMP for local development for quite a while now but lately I've been getting an Error 101 message when I browse localhost sites. It's possible for this to have appeared after the last WAMP update but I'm not 100% sure on this. If I try again and again, after several page refreshes it works but it's really annoying! The exact error message is: Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error. This is my configuration: OS: Windows 7 Apache: 2.2.11 PHP: 5.2.9-2 WAMP: 2.0 Also the local scripts connect to a remote MySQL server, they don't use the local MySQL(I don't know if it matters, just though I let you know). I've been looking into the apache logs and I've found the following.   In our SharePoint farm, our Web Front End servers all have loads of memory in "standby" mode, meaning very little is available for our IIS worker process. We have 32 GB of RAM in each of the boxes, and standby memory will creep up to about 28 GB, whereas the IIS worker process only seems to be using about 2 GB. Also, we've seen the machine use the swap file extensively while this memory was in standby, so I am starting to think that this memory in standby mode is stopping IIS from using it, forcing it to swap to disk, causing more performance problems. I used SysInternals RamMap to indentify what is being kept in memory, and it was able to tell me that almost everything in standby memory is of type "Mapped File". When I sort the files listed under the file summary tab in RamMap by file size, the largest files (around a few hundred meg each) are IIS log files and SharePoint log files. I would like to understand which process is loading these files into standby memory and why they are not being released. When I do an iisreset, it does not release the memory. Any ideas? Thanks!

• PHP-FPM processes holding onto MongoDB connection states

  For the relevant part of our server stack, we're running: NGINX 1.2.3 PHP-FPM 5.3.10 with PECL mongo 1.2.12 MongoDB 2.0.7 CentOS 6.2 We're getting some strange, but predictable behavior when the MongoDB server goes away (crashes, gets killed, etc). Even with a try/catch block around the connection code, i.e: try { $mdb = new Mongo('mongodb://localhost:27017'); } catch (MongoConnectionException $e) { die( $e->getMessage() ); } $db = $mdb->selectDB('collection_name'); Depending on which PHP-FPM workers have connected to mongo already, the connection state is cached, causing further exceptions to go unhandled, because the $mdb connection handler can't be used. The troubling thing is that the try does not consistently fail for a considerable amount of time, up to 15 minutes later, when -- I assume -- the php-fpm processes die/respawn. Essentially, the behavior is that when you hit a worker that hasn't connected to mongo yet, you get the die message above, and when you connect to a worker that has, you get an unhandled exception from $mdb->selectDB('collection_name'); because catch does not run. When PHP is a single process, i.e. via Apache with mod_php, this behavior does not occur. Just for posterity, going back to Apache/mod_php is not an option for us at this time. Is there a way to fix this behavior? I don't want the connection state to be inconsistent between different php-fpm processes.

• erratic response times with Apache 2.0.52 on redhat 4.

  Under load, we've noticed response times from Apache vary greatly for the same 7k image. It can range anywhere from .01 seconds to 25 seconds or greater. Unfortunately, due to corporate policy constraints we are pretty much stuck on Apache 2.0.52. I'm at best an Apache novice so I'm in over my head with this problem. My focus recently has turned to our choice of MPM modules. We use the worker model on a dual core hyper threaded blade. It doesn't appear that swapping is an issue, and I don't see any signs of a hardware problem. I've read that worker is optimal on hardware with many CPU's where prefork it more suitable for our specific hardware profile. I can see conceptually how choosing the wrong MPM could result in this erratic behavior, but I'm not confident that it's the root cause here. Has anyone else seen this type of range in your response times for simple static content? What else should I be looking into here?

• Siege - running a stress test benchmark

  I need to do a benchmark test of a HTTPS server using Siege, to see how it behaves under massive load. I'm initiating tests from another machine which is quite powerful and it is connected to the same physical switch the server is connected on. But when I initiate a test, I can't get it to make more than 170 requests per second. With this load the server's CPU usage is at 15-20% and the average response time for a request is approx. 0.03 seconds. Load of the client machine is approx. at 10%. So, I gradually increase the number of users in Siege (the number of worker threads) and request rate linearly increases up to 170 reqs/sec, but it never gets over it. No matter how many more worker threads I start, the load on the server is never more than 20% (and the client's load also doesn't increase any more). How can I overcome this? I've googled a bit and found out that after a request is completed, a socket associated with one ephermal port remains in WAIT_TIME state for some time during which it can't be reused. I tried to overcome this by doing these things: sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range="1024 65535" echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_tw_recycle Oh, and the client machine is a Linux (RedHat, I think, but I'm not sure). Any help would be appreciated.

  I have an inhouse(NY) app that cients can upload files to. Usually uploads go pretty quickly for most clients but this particularly cient in the UK always have problems with uploads. not sure if they get any errors but since we log all exceptions, we see this...Error: System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at ... This shouldn't even be an issue because since we noticed they have had this issue before so we bumped up these to maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="14400". Further investigating this error, i read that it could be a thread timeout since the default is 20minute. A worker process with process id of serving application pool was shutdown due to inactivity. Application Pool timeout configuration was set to 20 minutes. A new worker process will be started when needed. Problem is I am not entirely sure if that really is the case as all other cients mostly North American, have no issues but then their uploads don't seem to go beyond 80mb and the UK client have done a 700mb upload before that i know of. We have tested 750mb before and the whole process took about 15min for upload and processing. Any help on what the real issue here might be? Thanks.

• Adobe Flex Transparency not working on Button icon

  I am fairly inexperienced with Flex, but my googling has retrieved nothing to suggest this is an obvious question. I have an mx:Button with an Icon on it that is a png file with a transparent background, as below, however the transparency is not working, and the icon is painted with a white background. <mx:Button label="Button" icon="@Embed(source='images/clearTracks.png')"/> I have seen how to use a ByteArrayImage to get a transparency working on an image, but this technique doesn't appear available for a button's icon property.

  Friends, Just a quick introduction, I'm currently learning Java, using a combination of the Head First Java book and Eclipse. Everything was going well until tonight! When I started up Eclipse tonight, I saw an error message which I didn't pay attention to (I know! I know!) and acknowledged after which the project explorer was empty where it used to contain my Head First project! • Overlap problem with Android ListView selector

  I am trying to style my ListView with two 9-patch background images (16px * 9px), one dark image for default state and another green image for selected and pressed state. It works except for just one problem that when I select or press one list item, it seems that the selected item overlap the next one a little bit as I can see some pixels of the green background image is on the top of next item. How to fix that?

• WPF Binding with a Border

  I have a group of borders that make up a small map. Ideally I'd like to be able to bind the border's background property to a property in a custom list and when that property changes it changes the background. The tricky thing is, I have to do this in code behind. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
