• Which isn't working on linode servers (Ubuntu 10.04)?

  Currently trying to configure a linode server running on ubuntu 10.04. I utilized a stackscript (Default drupal profile) which seemed to run successfully. The log indicate so as well. Then ssh'd into the server (as root) to try to configure php. When i run a which php, which php5 they both return nothing. A which python returns something though. I know where the default path to php but i usually just like to use it as confirmation that php exists. Do i have to modify some configurations to enable which to work? Also tab completion doesn't seem to work for when i apt-get install? Update: Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've ran a couple commands and no luck either: [ root@ ~ ] $ dpkg -l |grep php [ root@ ~ ] $ apt-get install php5-cli Reading package lists... • Is it possible to upgrade PHP to 5.3 on a Centos Kloxo installation?

  I have a VPS running Centos with Kloxo on and I was wondering how I would upgrade the PHP to 5.3 - It's currently running 5.2.6.   I had some problems with amarok player, I couldn't get any sound from it. Anyway, I fixed it somehow, from terminal, with some packages, after a couple of reboots, now I have problem with the adobe-flashplugin. I'm trying this in terminal but: sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: The package adobe-flashplugin needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it. I also tried the update manager, but I get something about partial upgrade but that thing also isnt working, and I get a message that I have to install it manually or I remove it completely. So, how can I remove it completely and then I will install it clean again from the beggining?

• Plymouth package broken... Can I safely remove it? Other solution to repare it?

  I have a broken package... So far nothing horrible. The problem is that it is Plymouth, and it seems that if I remove it, I will remove half of the packages of my system... So here is my question: if I actually remove, or even purge plymouth; will I at least have a terminal left after it to reinstall it? Or am I definitely doomed?   I would like to build unity-lens-music on my newly-upgraded Ubuntu 12.10 machine. I followed these instructions from the unity website to get the code. The README was empty but I guessed that ./autogen.sh would be a sensible place to start. Unfortunately it exits with the following error: checking for LENS_DAEMON... no configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.27 gobject-2.0 >= 2.27 gio-2.0 >= 2.27 gio-unix-2.0 >= 2.27 dee-1.0 >= 1.0.7 sqlite3 >= 3.7.7 gee-1.0 json-glib-1.0 unity >= 6.90.0 unity-extras >= 6.90.0 tdb >= 1.2.6) were not met: No package 'dee-1.0' found No package 'sqlite3' found No package 'gee-1.0' found No package 'json-glib-1.0' found No package 'unity' found No package 'unity-extras' found No package 'tdb' found When I attempt to satisfy the dependencies that aren't found using apt-get install I either find that there is no exact match (e.g. 'dee-1.0' which matches several packages), I already have the latest version (e.g. sqlite3, unity) or there is no match at all (e.g. unity-extras and tdb). There is a later suggestion to modify PKG_CONFIG_PATH if I have installed software in a non-standard location but, to my knowledge, I have not. How should I proceed?

  I'm using nose and coverage to generate coverage reports. I only have one package right now, ae, so I specify to only cover that: nosetests -w tests/unit --with-xunit --with-coverage --cover-package=ae And here are the results, which look good: Name Stmts Exec Cover Missing ---------------------------------------------- ae 1 1 100% ae.util 253 224 88% 39, 63-65, 284, 287, 362, 406 ---------------------------------------------- TOTAL 263 234 88% ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 68 tests in 5.292s However when I run coverage xml, coverage pulls in more packages than necessary, including python email and logging packages which have nothing to do with my code. If I run coverage xml ae, I get this error: No source for code: '/home/wraith/dev/projects/trimurti/src/ae': [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/home/wraith/dev/projects/trimurti/src/ae' Is there a way to generate the XML for just the ae package?

• NuGet - managing and removing mutil version packages in single solution

  SCENARIO One VS solution with n projects. Project A references package Y v1, Project B references package Y v2. It is now not possible to update all references to package Y for all projects in the solution using the NuGet package manage dialog at the solution level, it is only possible to do this when all projects reference the same version of package Y. Not a big deal for only two projects, but I'm dealing with lots of projects that through poor package management are referencing many package versions when they should all reference the same version. Before I spend the afternoon writing a console app. to auto update all package.config files for a solution so that each referenced package is only referenced via it's latest version (latest referenced, not the very latest, with exceptions/caveats etc)....is there a tool/method for doing this already? Or some other approach I am unaware of?

  I've installed ghc 6.12.3, and then the Haskell Platform. I'm trying to compile a test program: $ ghc test.hs test.hs:3:0: Failed to load interface for `Bindings': Use -v to see a list of the files searched for. so, naturally, I do cabal install Bindings Which works fine, and places the package in ~/.cabal/lib/bindings-0.1.2 The problem is, that when I go to compile again with ghc, it still doesn't find the package I've installed with cabal. compiling in verbose mode gives: ghc -v test.hs Using binary package database: /home/ludflu/ghc/lib/ghc-6.12.3/package.conf.d/package.cache Using binary package database: /home/ludflu/.ghc/x86_64-linux 6.12.3/package.conf.d/package.cache As suggested by another stackoverflow user, I tried: ghc-pkg describe rts > rts.pkg vi rts.pkg # add the /home/ludflu/.cabal/lib to `library-dirs` field ghc-pkg update rts.pkg But to no avail.   I want to upgrade the package ggplot2: library(ggplot2) packageDescription("ggplot2")["Version"] > 0.8.3 But the current version is 0.8.7. I tried update.packages(), which seemed to work OK. But it still returned older version 0.8.3. So I downloaded and installed the package source from Cran, which says 0.8.7 in the download page. I then install it via the GUI menu in R. It returns ** building package indices ... * DONE (ggplot2) I then run: packageDescription("ggplot2")["Version"] > 0.8.3 And still I have the older version! I don't know why this is not working, what's more I had already come across this problem before and solved it (I can't remember exactly what) but now it has gone back to the older version! What's the easiest way to keep packages like this updated automatically and not have them refer back to older packages?

  I have an application that I'm going to publish to the Android market. I'm planning on releasing a paid-for version and a free version with restricted feature set. During development I've ensured I can turn features on and off by setting a few constant values, so I only have one codebase. However, now I come to release I'm not clear if I need to make a copy of the app with a different package name for the free version. The documentation on how the market works say updates will only be recognised if they have the same package name and are signed with the same key. Does this mean it's OK to release two applications with the same package name but signed with different keys, or will this break something? Or is it just bad practice?

  In my environment my Dev and QA Database Instances are on the same server. I would like to deploy the same package (or different versions of the package) into SSIS and set the filter to select different rows in the Config table. Is this possible? This is SQL 2005. For the sake of this question lets say I have one variable, which is a directory path. I would like to have these variables in the table twice (with different Filters applied (Dev and QA) as below (simplified) . . . • Default shell for running scripts (w/o shebang) in macos?

  I have ZSH as default shell in MacOS, everything is working fine. ZSH is installed as brew package, Ive set default shell in my account, new shell is listed in /etc/shells... everything is set, like I've said. I have some shell scripts in which I use some commands from zsh, like print. When I execute the script from command line, the print command is not recognized and the script fails. This script does not have the shebang line. When I put the shebang line for zsh, then everything works; the print command is working. Since I am using only ZSH, is it possible to set default shell for running scripts, so I don't have to put shebang line in my .zsh scripts? Or is it possible to associate .zsh extension to ZSH shell execution?

• Is there a way to modify the default size of a new side note in OneNote 2010?

  I am a fan of OneNote, but there is one aspect of it that makes it less useful than it could be. When I make a new side note (i.e. by clicking the OneNote icon in the system tray or pressing WindowsKey + N), the size of the window of the resulting note that opens is far too large. It probably takes up 20% of my reasonably high-res screen by default. I have to click and drag to resize it, and that's a waste of my time. So, I have a two part question: Is there a way of modifying some settings somewhere (perhaps in the registry?) so that the default window size of a new side note is smaller than the default? I would prefer something more in line with the size of a new "sticky" note in OS X. If not, does anyone know of a fast way to shrink the size of a window using the keyboard? I'd appreciate any advice that anyone can give. Thanks.

• Default gateway is in different subnet. How to configure in RHEL6.2

  I have two subnets routed to my server from ISP. I have only one gateway ip. The gateway is on the same VLAN as my IP address. For example netowrk 1 is 1.0.0.0/24 and network 2 is 2.0.0.0/24. Both are routed to eth0 by my ISP. Gateway is 1.0.0.1. My host ip is 2.0.0.1/24 (eth0) So I can configure default gateway manually with ip route add default dev eth0 ip route add default via 1.0.0.1 and then internet connection works properly. How do I configure it in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 ? I tried to set GATEWAY=1.0.0.1 but it doesn't work. Tried to set GATEWAY and GATEWAYDEV in /etc/sysconfig/network and it does only what first command from listing above do.

• Why do all my browsers default to the "Impact" font?

  I've been struggling with a font issue which I hope you can help resolve. A few weeks ago I started seeing "Impact" as the default font on lots of webpages, rendering much of the content illegible. I think this issue began after I installed other fonts, but I'm not sure. The issue occurs on Chrome, IE and Firefox which suggests it is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late. I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue. I've tried deleting the fonts in my font folder and re-installing them (from backup) but that did not work either. • Can a network interface be configured to have a default gateway for UDP packets?

  It is quite possible that my question may not make a lot of sense. I apologize, but I am not a networking guy, and that's my excuse. To elaborate, WikiPedia defines "Default Gateway" as a node on a "TCP/IP" network. And the way it works is that if a network interface is sending a packet to an IP address not present on its subnet, it sends it out to the default gateway (which then knows what to do with that packet). Is this true if a UDP packet (datagram) is involved? I mean, if my network interface is sending a UDP packet to an IP address that is not present on its subnet, would it automatically send it to the Default Gateway as well?

• FeedDaemon and Tweetdeck not opening links in Chrome but opening in IE when IE is set default browser

  A while ago a Chrome version update failed and I ended up having a program called new_chrome.exe in the folder where chrome.exe used to be. I was very busy at that moment and I continued to work without bothering to try to fix the problem. Apparently recently another update came out and the new_chrome.exe is now gone, it was replaced by chrome.exe. Since the last upgrade happened two applications that I use a lot (not sure if others do the same) do now work anymore as they used to when I try to open links. These two apps are Tweetdek and Feedaemon. If I change the default browser to Internet Explorer they both open the links when I click on them I tried everything I could but it did not work: My Default programs look like this: and my set Default Programs looks like this: How can I fix this?

Dll? • Apache ProxyPass Missing Images

  I have a apache server that sits in front of my glassfish server. mydomain.com goes directly to my static files on apache, than if you hit the subdomain forum.mydomain.com it goes to the glassfish webapp forum/ at 127.0.0.1:8080/forum/. This proxy seems to work it takes me to the web app but all of the images are missing! Here is how I go my virtual host setup. • Boot failure : No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!

  I've tried to install Ubuntu on a VMWare Virtual Machine, but it never get's past the bootloader : ISOLINUX 4.01 debian-20100714 ETCD Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin et al No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! boot: _ I've also tried to burn this .iso image to a CD and go from there - but I got the same problems also ... Some more details : VMWare Server 2.0.2 Build 203138 on Windows 2008 R2 ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso image used (downloaded yesterday evening) I have no clue, why this is not booting !!! Somebody have any ideas ? Thanks, Sven
