  Sorry for the long and yet still somehow vague title! A friend of mine has a Flash Action script running on a LAMP server that currently reads an xml config file. He's asked me if it's possible to remove the xml file, and replace it somehow with a system (lets call it an 'auto xml generator') that intercepts the request to read that file and generates an output, so it appears to all intents and purposes as if the file still exists and contains the contents that has actually been returned from our auto xml generator Hours of Googling has failed to come up with any promising leads, can anyone offer any advice?   I am wondering whether there exists any declarative language for arbitrarily describing the format and semantics of a data structure, that can be compiled to a specific implementation of that structure in any of a set of target languages. That is, something like a generic data definition language but geared toward describing arbitrary data structures such as vectors, lists, trees, etc., and the semantics of operations on those structures. I ask because I had an idea for a feasible implementation of this concept, and I'm just wondering whether it's worth it, and, consequently, whether it's been done before. Another, slightly more abstract question: is there any real difference between the normative specification of a data structure (what it does) and its implementation (how it does it)?

The code below works just fine when working with local queues (and using .\ nomenclature for the local queue). How to programmatically set the permissions on the clustered queues? • MS Access 2003 - VBA for altering a table after a "SELECT * INTO tblTemp FROM tblMain" statement

  Hi. I use functions like the following to make temporary tables out of crosstabs queries. Function SQL_Tester() Dim sql As String If DCount("*", "MSysObjects", "[Name]='tblTemp'") Then DoCmd.DeleteObject acTable, "tblTemp" End If sql = "SELECT * INTO tblTemp from TblMain;" Debug.Print (sql) Set db = CurrentDb db.Execute (sql) End Function I do this so that I can then use more vba to take the temporary table to excel, use some of excel functionality (formulas and such) and then return the values to the original table (tblMain). Simple spot i am getting tripped up is that after the Select INTO statement I need to add a brand new additional column to that temporary table and I do not know how to do this: sql = "Create Table..." is like the only way i know how to do this and of course this doesn't work to well with the above approach because I can't create a table that has already been created after the fact, and I cannot create it before because the SELECT INTO statement approach will return a "table already exists" message.   I want to make my avl tree support adding duplicates but there is a problem with the default behavior of the binary search tree with duplicates that the rotation could make nodes with equal key be on the left and the right of the parent for example adding A,A,A will cause the tree to do a rotation to be something like that A / \ A A so getting all the entries with that key will be a problem...and searching in both direction is not something good the solution that i have thought of is making each node stores an array of duplicates so when adding a new item that already exists will be just adding a new item to the array , removing item with key will delete the whole node while the find all items with key will return that array. are there are any other methods to handle duplicates ?

  I'm trying to create my first Windows Service in C# VS2010 and slowly discover how I should do things. But now I have reached a point, where I cannot install a new version of my service. My setup program tells me Error 1001. Service MyService was not found on computer '.'. --> The specified service does not exists as an installed service. The last part of the message is translated into english from danish. I cannot see the service in either the service list (services.msc) or in the registry. I have removed the left overs from a previous installation, so no traces here either. I have emptied the temporary folder under my windows account. Where do I locate the rest of the remains obstructing my installation of the service?

• tool to remove repeated css selectors

  I have 3 stylesheets that I have copied and pasted all into 1. As such, there are identical/repeated selectors. Is there an effective tool I can use to remove all repeated selectors if the style properties are identical? Another requirement is if the repeated selector exists once within a group of selectors and once as a standalone selector... the program will remove the selector AND properties of the standalone only (not delete the properties of the selector in a group). I have no clue if this is possible, but have just spent a few hours looking for one with no avail. Anyone know of anything close? Thanks in advance!

• Getting a 404 when setting up MVC in IIS 6 and using .NET 4 beta 2

  Hi all, I've completed this set up on a fair few IIS 6 boxes, but one is giving me a tough time. The problem occurs when I add the application extension mapping to: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.21006\aspnet_isapi.dll When this is in place, I get a 404 error on every request. Even if I remove all files from the application directory apart from a basic test.htm and navigate to that, I still get a 404. I've unchecked the "Verify that file exists" I've set up a .NET 4 application pool and pointed my application to that I've changed the ASP.NET version to 4.0.21006 I've checked the IIS log file, and there's nothing useful in there (it only shows the first bunch of requests after each reboot and then stops logging) I've checked the application event log and nothing gets reported I've installed MVC 2 I've copied the set up onto another box, just to be sure, following all the same steps - and it all works! What else can I look out for?? N.B: If I set .NET to v2 in IIS, then I can successfully navigate to \test.htm

  hi i tried 2 things what should be the same however it my testing says different does anyone know why the only thing i do is put it in a variable... if ($_SESSION[$something] === null) echo("this is null"); $_SESSION[$something] does not exists so it indeed says: "this is null". now look at this $theSession = $_SESSION[$something]; if (theSession === null) echo("this is null"); now it does not say "this is null" while it should be exactly the same right?

• I've Heard Global Variables Are Bad, What Alternative Solution Should I Use?

  I've read all over the place that global variables are bad and alternatives should be used. In Javascript specifically, what solution should I choose. I'm thinking of a function, that when fed two arguments (function globalVariables(Variable,Value)) looks if Variable exists in a local array and if it does set it's value to Value, else, Variable and Value are appended. If the function is called without arguments (function globalVariables()) it returns the array. Perhaps if the function is fired with just one argument (function globalVariables(Variable)) it returns the value of Variable in the array. What do you think? I'd like to hear your alternative solutions and arguments for using global variables.

  i have some problems getting trac to be running with apache. have no idea of how to do and the tutorial i followed doesnt work. i have an empty /etc/apache2/httpd.conf. should it be empty? then i followed the tutorial (http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracModPython) and typed in: LoadModule python_module modules/mod_python.so so now it contains one row. i have ubuntu and i installed mod_python with: apt-get install libapache2-mod-python libapache2-mod-python-doc however, when i run a2enmod mod_python it says: ERROR: Module mod_python does not exist! but i have checked that it exists in /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_python.so. so whats the problem?

• How do I call window.openDatabase from a webView hosted in an android application?

  I created a native Android app that basically hosts a webView control. That webView is then used to load a page that calls window.openDatabase from JavaScript. I can successfully confirm that the API exists by verifying window.openDatabase. Calling this method returns a null when called in a hosted webView control. Calling the same method in the Android Browser returns an instance of the database. Does anyone know the permessions in the manifest or settings on the webView control that need to be set to access the database? Is this even possible in a native app.

My question is, I have a dropdown list that prompt user download different section of a big form on the fly so I have header below for download it individually. header("Content-type: text/plain"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=op_summary.lyx"); I need to add another function to download them all at ones. How can I implement it? Should I have download them in the server before zipping it and download to client? • Does RVM "failover" to another ruby instance on error?

  Have a strange problem in that I have a Rake task that seems to be using multiple versions of Ruby. When one fails, it seems to try another one. Details MacBook running 10.6.5 rvm 1.1.0 Rubies: 1.8.7-p302, ree-1.8.7-2010.02, ruby-1.9.2-p0 Rake 0.8.7 Gem 1.3.7 Veewee (provisioning Virtual Machines using Opcode.com, Vagrant and Chef) I'm not entirely sure the specific details of the error matter, but since it might be an issue with Veewee itself. So, what I'm trying to do is build a new box base on a veewee definition. The command fails with an error about a missing method- but what's interesting is how it fails. Errors I managed to figure out that if I only have one Ruby installed with RVM, it just fails. If I have more than one Ruby install, it fails at the same place, but execution seems to continue in another interpreter. Here are two different clipped console outputs. I've clipped them for size. The full outputs of each error are available as a gist.   Hi there, is there anyway to load other JS files from within a single JS file. I would like to point my individual pages "ITS" js file and that js file would load jquery, other js files. I know i can just pop all these into the html i.e. I was thinking of separations of concerns so i was wondering if anything exists already without me reinventing the wheel.... That i would just need to edit home.js to change what other js (jquery etc) are loaded for home.htm ... home.htm would just point to home.js Thanks

  I couldn't find a good answer anywhere. I am using a UINavigationController for my iphone app and everything is done 100% programmatically no xibs. So i am trying to port my app to ipad, i tried to use a UISplitViewController and link my existing tableView and etc.. Now, i am not sure where should i have the logic of my program separating the viewcontroller for iphone or ipad.. do i setup my main file to use a different appdelegate or i use a same appdelegae and have the condition set up there ? now beside this, whenever i try to complile my app on the simulator it does not recognize the uisplitview and even the condition in which i check if the class exists. can please someone put me in the right direction.. and remember i am not using xibs?

• Using rest-client to upload a paperclip attachment but getting no file found error

  Hello, I have a paperclip attachment that I wan to upload to a web-service using rest-client. However, when I try to run it, I get an error: No such file or directory - /system/postalimages/1/original/postcard-1.png?1274635084 But the file exists for sure: I see it in my directory. How do I debug this? • jface.preference.FileFieldEditor can't specify a new file

  I'm setting up a series of preferences in my Eclipse (3.5.2) application and I'm having a problem with the FileFieldEditor. I want to allow the user to specify a log file to print output to. Often, this will be a new file. But when I use the file select dialog with FileFieldEditor, it complains that the file doesn't exists ("Value must be an existing file"). Is there a way, without extending the FileFieldEditor class, to suppress this error and have Java create that file if it doesn't exist? Thanks!

  I'm doing this application in C# using the free Krypton Toolkit but the Krypton Navigator is a paid product which is rather expensive for me and this application is being developed on my free time and it will be available to the public for free. So, I'm looking for a free control to integrate better into my Krypton application because the default one doesn't quite fit and it will be different depending on the OS version... Any suggestions? P.S: I know I could owner-draw it but I'm trying not to have that kind of work... I prefer something already done if it exists for free. • Providing or Filtering assemblies when registering areas for an ASP.NET MVC 2.0 application

  I have a large application that currently exists as a hybrid of WebForms and MVC 2.0. Startup of my application is dreadful, and the culprit is primarily because of the AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas call. More specifically, that it is using the System.Web. Compilation.BuildManager.GetReferencedAssemblies to enumerate all types in assemblies directly referenced by the application and test them to see if they derive from AreaRegistration. Unfortunately, I have a number of third-party assemblies that happen to be quite extensive, so this initial load can be pretty bad. I'd have much better results if I could tell it which assemblies to look for AreaRegistrations, or even register areas manually for the time being. I can gather up all the internals of AreaRegistration to create and invoke the registration, but I'm just curious if others have had and worked around this issue.
