  The problem with our server is that we need to use the bug ridden and awful AT&T network client, which causes our server to bluescreen once per 24 hours. Does any one know how to (or has a good guide) quickly set up a workstation running Windows server 2008 R2 as a proxy server. So this spare workstation would run AT&T and would act as a bridge between our server and the server that can be connected to only via the AT&T VPN software. And this way our own production server would not crash so often (or not at all) and the workstation can happily crash whenever it wants to.

• postgresql creating and managing users

  I've tried a few times to get postgresql running on a couple of different linux boxes, but I've always ended up binning it and going back to MySQL because I can't get my head around how to create and manage users. This time around, I've actually gotten as far as being able to log in with my own account, but I created the account with the createuser command and it has a different password to my actual user account. What I'd like to be able to do is log in as me to create databases, users and assign database permissions, but then have an account that is separate and doesn't have an account on the server to use with my web app. Does anyone have a good step-by-step guide for complete morons that goes through creating users and assigning access to various databases in postgresql?

  Am using clearos as open vpn server and configured my users on windows machine with open vpn client. My problem is that users connect to the server without a default gateway and also with ip conflicts, i can ping the server but i can not ping any user behind the server. please any one can help to find out what causes the clients to connect without a default gateway and also not to be able to ping any user behind the clearos open vpn server. • Can I group rows to get sum using excel

  I have a spreadsheet with 2 cols of importance. Date, and number. I can't always predict the number of rows or the date, but what I would like to do is print out the sum of the numbers for each date. For example, there might be 5 rows for Dec-7: 200, 111 and Dec-6: 222,533,100. I am tying to create a list which would show Dec-6: 855, Dec-7: 311. I believe a Pivot Table is what I want but I can't quite figure out how I need to configure it to show what I want. If anyone knows of a guide I could look at that would be fantastic!

  Hi, I have never set-up a chroot-jailed environment before and I am afraid I need some help to do it well. To explain shortly what this is all about: I have a webserver to which users send python scripts to process various files that are stored on the server (the system is for Research purpose). Everyday a cron job starts the execution of the uploaded scripts via a command of this kind: /usr/bin/python script_file.py All of this is really insecure and I would like to create a jail in which I would copy the necessary files (uploaded scripts, files to process, python binary and dependencies). I already looked at various utilities to create jails but none of them seemed up-to-date or were lacking solid documentation (ie. the links proposed in How can I run an untrusted python script) Could anyone guide me to a viable solution to my problem? like a working example of a script that creates a jail, put some files in it and executes a python script?   I always saw that the motherboard RAM slots are colored in pairs, but never know what does it means. I just put the 2 RAM in, and after a few tries it always worked. But after I tried to install a third one it always throws me a blue screen of death. Is there an order how should I install RAM to the borad? What does the colors mean? Does they indicate performance boost opportunity or are they just a guide for installation?

• Lost support for Web Access on Verizon BlackBerry World Edition

  Hello all, I believe that some silliness has occurred with my blackberry after a OS upgrade. I have 2010 Blackberry world edition phone, purchased off a friend who went iPhone, that at first worked with web on the Verizon network. When i connected it to my PC to transfer contacts, it prompted for an OS upgrade, which I performed. Post-Upgrade I have found that i can no longer access any of the web services: eg. AppWorld, Email, Twitter, Browser. And they all state that i need to upgrade my account to gain access. I had a Storm previous to this that worked fine, and at the VZ store they told me this device is no longer supported (new in 2010 though), and they got me a free "upgrade" to the Blackberry flip. What i could use help with is finding a source stating it is discontinued or a guide that will help me re-enable the web features. I can provide further info later if needed (currently at work with the flip, the WorldEdition is at home).

• Configuring IIS site to use HTTPS

  I am working on a REST API which I have currently deployed on a Win XP Professional SP2 development machine running IIS 5.1. The site is currently being hosted on port 81 and being accessed via HTTP. I would now like to configure the site to stop using HTTP and use HTTPS only. I have developed a self-signed certificate using the SelfSSL.exe tool from the 6.0 Resource Kit Tools and set the Common Name to be the IP of my server (as it's a local development machine it has no domain name). I have also already configured the site to use SSL using the How To Set Up an HTTPS Service in IIS tutorial as my guide. However, whenever I try to access a resource in the API via HTTPS I get a 404. Any ideas?

Anyways, everything works fine if i remove the mcast_join line from the udp_recv_channel If I leave it as is the UI doesn't show any hosts. • How to link data in different worksheets

  I tried consolidation but I can not get the following to work as it keeps saying no data consolidated. Can somebody try this dummy application and if they figure out how to do the following below can give me a step by step guide so I can attempt myself to learn. I'm not sure if I need to use any coding for this: In the dummy application I have 2 worksheets. One known as "1st", the other "Cases". In the "1st" worksheet you can insert and delete records for the "Case" table at the bottom, what I want to do is insert a row into the Case Table in worksheet "1st" and enter in the data for that row. What should happen is that data should be automatically be updated in the table in the "Cases" worksheet. But I can't seem to get this to work. • IIS 6.0 mitigating BEAST

  Recently, my PCI assessor informed me that my servers are vulnerable to BEAST and failed me. I did my homework and I want to change our webservers to prefer RC4 ciphers over CBC. I followed every guide I could find... I changed my reg keys for my weaker than 128bit encryption to Enabled = 0. completely removed the reg keys for the weaker encryptions. I downloaded IISCrypto and unchecked everything but RC4 128 ciphers and triple DES 168. My webserver still prefers AES-256SHA. Is there a trick in IIS 6.0 to get your webservers to prefer RC4 ciphers that I am not figuring out? It seems like in IIS 7 they made this very easy to fix but that doesn't help me now!

• Installing Bugzilla on Ubuntu 9.04 and Plesk

  Hey guys. I'm trying to install the latest Bugzilla version on my ubuntu server. (Want to use a subdomain like bugs.domain.com) I already installed all necessary perl modules and check_modules.pl doesn't show any errors. But when I'm running the testserver.pl script I get the following: TEST-OK Webserver is running under group id in $webservergroup TEST-FAILED Fetch of images/padlock.png failed I'm also not able to visit ANY file within the bugzilla folder from the browser. I'm always getting a 404 error. The bugzilla folder and all containing files are set to apache as the owner. I tried to enter the apache configuration form the installation guide in the http.include file of the domain and in the vhosts.conf file of the subdomain as well. I don't know what to do... Playing with plesks' suexecgroup doesn't bring any solution... I hope you can help me! Thanks in advance!

• Post raid5 setup reboot shows single hard drive failure on ubuntu 12.10?

  I just set up raid 5 on linux using three HDDs as per a guide. It all went fine until when I rebooted I got the following text: http://i.stack.imgur.com/Zsfjk.jpg. Does this mean one of my HDDs has failed? How do I check if any of them are failing? I tried using smartctl and didn't see any issues. Or is it nothing to do with failure and something else altogether? I would like to get the raid 5 working again but I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm using ubuntu 12.10 and the three raid disks each have a gpt partition with a single full size partition of filesystem type ext4. Note I only got an error on reboot not while I was creating the raid array which went fine. Thanks.

  So we are venturing out into the world of SharePoint and it seems that I have to install SharePoint Server directly on each developer's box. Is this correct? I have SharePoint up and running on a separate sever so it seems redundant to have to install it on each box. Not to mention installing SharePoint on Windows 7 is a pain in the ars.   For historical reasons, one of the machines that I manage has a Redhat Enterprise 4 boot disk (among others). Every now and then, we have to boot into RHEL4 to bring up some of the legacy software that we support and connect to. Since it's a fringe system, the Redhat support has long since lapsed and I can't convince myself that it would be worth paying just to get RPMs that I can go and get for myself. That said, the default RHEL tools are heavily biased against letting you do exactly that. I would like to install yum and use that as my package discovery and installation. So, is there an installation guide to integrating yum with an older RHEL 4 system?

• Running IPv4 program in IPv6 network

  I have an IPv4 windows client program and IPv4 Linux server. What I need is to run them in pure IPv6 network, although machines have dual stack. At the beginning I thought it's not a problem: I'll use 4in6 protocol (rfc2473) and that's all. I found a simple guide for Linux configuration here, but when I started to configuring windows 7, I couldn't find how to do it. There are plenty of info on how to tunnel IPv6 over IPv4 (6in4, Teredo) but not an opposite. Does anyone know how to do it? Thank you.

  I am specially interested on if somebody is actually doing/maintaining an installer for Windows, as there are quite several issues when installing all dependencies, etc. (for example, there might be someone already doing a Installbuilder installer for it and am just not aware of the matter) If not, at least if someone got it working and has some key tip to share. I am never able to fully get it all up and running. I'd love to have a not super complex way to install each new build of this great vector rendering module for Blender.   I have to install an LDAP proxy on a compute cluster frontend. The idea is to avoid the compute nodes to make too many requests on the campus LDAP server. How can I install this to make it work with the school's LDAP? The frontend OS is a RHEL 6.2. I found that I have to install the LDAP server and configure it as a proxy. But all I can find is examples of /etc/openldap/slapd.conf file configuration but after testing different configuration, no results. Furthermore, according to RHEL 6 - Deployment Guide, this config file is obsolete: OpenLDAP no longer reads its configuration from the /etc/openldap/slapd.conf file. Instead, it uses a configuration database located in the /etc/openldap/slapd.d/ directory. Any help is welcomed. Thank you

• Access RAID configuration in x3550M2

  I'm trying to configure RAID in a IBM x3550 M2 server. I can't find any messages on boot about any hotkey to access the configuration utility. I wasn't able either in BIOS. The card is a on board LSI 1068e. I can't find the original CD's shipped with the server, but I downloaded Server Guide 9.21 from IBM web. Booted with that, and only getting stuck at "Windows loading"p. Tried with a 8.? version from a x3550 (M1), but it was less useful. Although I do not consider myself an expert, I'm starting to feel like a newbie luser. Any help?

• VMware - Broadcom 1000Gbps NIC does not link at 100Mbps to a Cisco switch port

  Today we've stumbled on a very awkward situation with our VMWare Server. The server is with ESX 3.5 that has a 1Gbps NIC. We bought a brand new managed Cisco Linksys switch with 10/100Mbps interface ports but when we plugged the cable in one of the ports the link simply does not wanted to activate :S... Does anyone with more VMware experience have ever had similar problem? From what I know is that 1Gbps NICs are backwards compatible with 100Mbps switches. This is what we've tryed so far but with no success: Tryed: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1004089 Tryed to modify the /etc/modules.conf folowing the guide from this article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=813 After the changes I have restarted the networking services using # service network restart, # service mgmt-vmware restart and # service vmware-vpxa restart It seems that no matter how many times, or whatever approach/method (GUI or Shell) we try to change the speed and duplex of the network adapter and to force it to 100mbps it only accepts 1Gbps .. I am starting to go nuts :@
