  • Android: Adding static header to the top of a ListActivity

    Currently I have a class that is extending the ListActivity class. I need to be able to add a few static buttons above the list that are always visible. I've attempted to grab the ListView using getListView() from within the class. Then I used addHeaderView(View) to add a small layout to the top of the screen. Header.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <Button android:id="@+id/testButton" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Income" android:textSize="15dip" android:layout_weight="1" /> </LinearLayout> Before I set the adapter I do: ListView lv = getListView(); lv.addHeaderView(findViewById(R.layout.header)); This results in nothing happening to the ListView except for it being populated from my database. No buttons appear above it. Another approach I tried as adding padding to the top of the ListView. When I did this it successfully moved down, however, if I added any above it, it pushed the ListView over. No matter what I do it seems as though I cannot put a few buttons above the ListView when I used the ListActivity. Thanks in advance. synic, I tried your suggestion previously.   • how can I code a recursive query in an Entity Framework model?

    Hi, I have a model which includes NODES, and RELATIONSHIPS (that tie the nodes together, via a parent_node, child_node arrangement). Q1 - Is there any way in EF / Linq-to-entities to perform a query on nodes (e.g. context.Nodes..) to find say "all parents" or "or children" in the graph? Q2 - If there's not in Linq-to-entities, is there any other way to do this other than writing a method that manually goes through and doing it? Q3 - If manual is the only way to do it, should I be concerned about the number of database hits that will be going out to the database as the method keeps recursing through the data? Or more specifically, is there any EF caching type feature that might assist here in ensuring the method is performance from a "number of database hits" point of view? thanks thanks

  • Send large JSON data to WCF Rest Service

    Hi I have a client web page that is sending a large json object to a proxy service on the same domain as the web page. The proxy (an ashx handler) then forwards the request to a WCF Rest Service. Using a WebClient object (standard .net object for making a http request) The JSON successfully arrives at the proxy via a jQuery POST on the client webpage.   • AutoMapper is not working for a Container class

    Hello, I have an AutoMapper issue that has been driving me crazy for way too long now. A similar question was also posted on the AutoMapper user site but has not gotten much love. The summary is that I have a container class that holds a Dictionary of components. The components are a derived object of a common base class. I also have a parallel structure that I am using as DTO objects to which I want to map. The error that gets generated seems to say that the mapper cannot map between two of the classes that I have included in the CreateMap calls. I think the error has to do with the fact that I have a Dictionary of objects that are not part of the container‘s hierarchy. I apologize in advance for the length of the code below. My simple test cases work. Needless to say, it’s only the more complex case that is failing.     Hi, I know this exact question was asked here, but the answer didn't work for what I needed to do so I figured I'd give some example code and explain a bit... $(document).keypress( function (event) { // Pressing Up or Right: Advance to next video if (event.keyCode == 40 || event.keyCode == 39) { event.preventDefault(); $(".current").next().click(); } // Pressing Down or Left: Back to previous video else if (event.keyCode == 38 || event.keyCode == 37) { event.preventDefault(); $(".current").prev().click(); } } ); It basically disables the arrow keys to use them for something else, but doing: $(document).keypress(function () { }); doesn't enable the default function again... I need it to scroll the page without having to create a scroll function for it... Any ideas? Thanks, Matt

  • Show Recent Documents in Sharepoint

    Hello, I want to display the list of recently added documents to any (or a few) library in a Sharepoint site. Unfortunately, there is no Content Query Web Part in the Web Part list. Also, I can't deploy any custom code. I came up with the idea, to create workflows for each library, which will copy the uploaded document to a "Recent Documents" library. But my client does not want this solution, saying that it will increase the storage usage. He also says that he saw this done in another Sharepoint site and insists on that the whole thing shouldn't be a problem, cause it's a basic Sharepoint function. Perhaps he is right, perhaps he is not. Either way, I'm to solve this. Thank you.

  • Error launching application after ClickOnce deployment - "An application for this deployment is alre

    As part of my continuous integration build the application is deployed as a ClickOnce application. This works great the first time, but when I try the launch the app after an update has been deployed I get the following error. An application for this deployment is already installed with a different application identity. If I run mage.exe -cc to clear the application cache for all ClickOnce apps then I can launch the application just fine. Has anyone run into this before? How can I fix this? However, when I schedule the job and click run, the app appears to be waiting for the scheduled time to elapse yet never fires. Interesting enough when I stop the job the copy starts. Anyone have any experience with using RichCopy timer? IanB

  • jQuery Validate - require at least one field in a group to be filled

    I'm using the excellent jQuery Validate Plugin to validate some forms. On one form, I need to ensure that the user fills in at least one of a group of fields. I think I've got a pretty good solution, and wanted to share it. Please suggest any improvements you can think of. Finding no built-in way to do this, I searched and found Rebecca Murphey's custom validation method, which was very helpful. I improved this in three ways: To let you pass in a selector for the group of fields To let you specify how many of that group must be filled for validation to pass To show all inputs in the group as passing validation as soon as one of them passes validation. So you can say "at least X inputs that match selector Y must be filled." The end result is a rule like this: partnumber: { require_from_group: [2,".productinfo"] } //The partnumber input will validate if //at least 2 `.productinfo` inputs are filled For best results, put this rule AFTER any formatting rules for that field (like "must contain only numbers", etc). This way, if the user gets an error from this rule and starts filling out one of the fields, they will get immediate feedback about the formatting required without having to fill another field first. Item #3 assumes that you're adding a class of .checked to your error messages upon successful validation. You can do this as follows, as demonstrated here. success: function(label) { label.html(" ").addClass("checked"); } As in the demo linked above, I use CSS to give each span.error an X image as its background, unless it has the class .checked, in which case it gets a check mark image.   • SCons does not clean all files

    I have a file system containing directories of "builds", each of which contains a file called "build-info.xml". However some of the builds happened before the build script generated "build-info.xml" so in that case I have a somewhat non-trivial SCons SConstruct that is used to generate a skeleton build-info.xml so that it can be used as a dependency for further rules. I.e.: for each directory: if build-info.xml already exists, do nothing. More importantly, do not remove it on a 'scons --clean'. if build-info.xml does not exist, generate a skeleton one instead - build-info.xml has no dependencies on any other files - the skeleton is essentially minimal defaults. during a --clean, remove build-info.xml if it was generated, otherwise leave it be. My SConstruct looks something like this: def generate_actions_BuildInfoXML(source, target, env, for_signature): cmd = "python '%s/bin/create-build-info-xml.py' --version $VERSION --path . --output ${TARGET.file}" % (Dir('#').abspath,) return cmd bld = Builder(generator = generate_actions_BuildInfoXML, chdir = 1) env.Append(BUILDERS = { "BuildInfoXML" : bld }) ... # VERSION = some arbitrary string, not important here # path = filesystem path, set elsewhere build_info_xml = "%s/build-info.xml" % (path,) if not os.path.exists(build_info_xml): env.BuildInfoXML(build_info_xml, None, VERSION = build) My problem is that 'scons --clean' does not remove the generated build-info.xml files. I played around with env.Clean(t, build_info_xml) within the 'if' but I was unable to get this to work - mainly because I could not work out what to assign to 't' - I want a generated build-info.xml to be cleaned unconditionally, rather than based on the cleaning of another target, and I wasn't able to get this to work. If I tried a simple env.Clean(None, "build_info_xml") after but outside the 'if' I found that SCons would clean every single build-info.xml file including those that weren't generated. Not good either. What I'd like to know is how SCons goes about determining which files should be cleaned and which should not. Is there something funny about the way I've used a generator function that prevents SCons from recording this target as a Clean candidate?

  • Android ListView: get data index of visible item

    I have an Android ListView created with a SimpleAdapter that has more items in it than fit in the screen. After the list has been scrolled, I need to get the position in the data model of the first visible item in the list. Basically I want a function like: listView.getChildAt(0).getPositionInDataModel(). Adapter has a few functions in it, like getItemId(position) that looked useful; however, the SimpleAdapter implementation just returns the passed in position, not a row id like I'd hoped. A brute force solution would be to get the View at index 0, and compare it to the view for each item in the adapter. However, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to get the view for a particular position from the adapter. Anyone have any thoughts?

  • Spring Security - Interactive login attempt was unsuccessful

    I've been trying to track down why Spring Security isn't creating the SPRING_SECURITY_REMEMBER_ME_COOKIE so I turned on logging for org.springframework.security.web.authentication.rememberme. At first glance, the logs make it seem like the login is failing but the login is actually successful in the sense that if I navigate to a page that requires authentication I am not redirected back to the login page. However, the logs appear to be saying the login credentials are invalid. Any ideas as to what is going on?   • marshal data too short!!!

    My application requires to keep large data objects in session. There are like 3-4 data objects each created by parsing a csv containing 150 X 20 cells having strings of 3-4 characters. My application shows this error- "marshal data too short". I tried this- Deleting the old session table. Deleting the old migration for session table. Creating a new migration using rake db: sessions:create. editing the migration manually, changing "text: data" to "longtext: data". running the migration using rake db: migrate. now when i open my application, i see this page- link text please someone help me, this is getting on my nerves!! other details of application-- In view "index.html.erb"- There is a link that makes ajax call to an action in controller, that action parses large csv file and makes an object out of it. this object is stored in session.     Silverlight 4 has a new ContextMenu control in the latest toolkit. I can't find any examples anywhere on how to reliably use this ContextMenu on a DataGrid row. Theres a tonne of context menus out there but I want to use the new version from the toolkit. I'd like to be able to set context menus for rows as well as cells. The only way I've found is to manually create the menu on right click and show it, but I'd like to do it in XAML. Note: You need to currently use this workaround in the answer to avoid binding problems.

  • Android Canvas Coordinate System

    I'm trying to find information on how to change the coordinate system for the canvas. I have some vector data I'd like to draw to a canvas using things like circles and lines, but the data's coordinate system doesn't match the canvas coordinate system. Is there a way to map the units I'm using to the screen's units? I'm drawing to an ImageView which isn't taking up the entire display. If I have to do my own calculations prior to each drawing call, how to I find the width and height of my ImageView? The getWidth() and getHeight() calls I tried seem to be returning the entire canvas size and not the size of the ImageView which isn't helpful. I see some matrix stuff, is that something that will work for me? I tried to use the "public void scale(float sx, float sy)", but that works more like a pixel level zoom rather than a vector scale function by expanding each pixel. This means if the dimensions are increased to fit the screen, the line thickness is also increased. Update: After some research I'm starting to think there's no way to change coordinate systems to something else. I'll need to map all my coordinates to the screen's pixel coordinates and do so by modifying each vector. The getWidth() and getHeight() seem to be working better for me now. I can say what was wrong, but I suspect I can't use these methods inside the constructor.
