• Server-side access to Client Browser's Latitude/Longitude using Django.

  Hello, So i am writing a little app that compares a user's position against a database on web-based server written using Django and performs some functions with it. Accessing the browser's geolocation data (in supported browsers ) is fairly trivial using JavaScript. But what is the best way to allow the Django server to access the longitude and latitude variables? Is it best to wrap them up as a JSON object and send to the server via POST? Or is there some easier (Geo)Django-based way to access the Navigator.geolocation browser object. Please forgive a newbie a question like this, but my Google-Fuing only seems to find ways to insert variables into JavaScript via template tag, whereas I need it to work the other way! Any advice or code snippets greatly appreciated. Feel free to talk to me like I am an idiot.

Maybe it'd be clearer with an example: placeid, grid, vill 1, TM1, Suffolk 2, TM1, Suffolk 3, WA8, Newcastle 4, WA8, Newcastle 5, WA8, York I'd like to construct a query that returns 'WA8' but not 'TM1', because 'WA8' occurs in combination with more than one vill. I would be SO grateful for any help!

  Hi, I'm a jquery newbie - wanted to ask what might be the best strategy for achieving what I am after as I think it uses a mix of jquery functions : If list of items exceeds 5 items a 'more' link appears which when toggled will reveal the rest of the items. If items list is 5 or less no 'more' link is shown. Hide button also at bottom of long full revealed list. (perhaps this is toggle+pagination?) And then also that this can be used in multiple instances, as it is for multiple category menu's.(to be used in typical indexhibit websites structure like http://mikeyburton.com/) link 1 link 2 link 3 link 4 link 5 link 6 link 7 link 8 more Any help or links greatly appreciated.

  Hi Everyone I am python newbie I have to implement lasso L1 regression for a class assignment. This involves solving a quadratic equation involving block matrices. minimize x^t * H * x + f^t * x where x 0 Where H is a 2 X 2 block matrix with each element being a k dimensional matrix and x and f being a 2 X 1 vectors each element being a k dimension vector. I was thinking of using nd arrays. such that np.shape(H) = (2, 2, k, k) np.shape(x) = (2, k) But I figured out that np.dot(X, H) doesn't work here. Is there an easy way to solve this problem? I researched but couldnot find :/ is there any predefined variable that gives my CCK field value count? for example; I have field_logo_sponsor and I need to display all logo items.   I'm creating a prototype for a java web application. Frontend is a Swing-based java applet. Backend should be a type of web-service, that is called by applet. Backend should run inside a servlet container and should have its own security (username/password) database. I know, that Tomcat has its own user database (realm), but the app should have own. Web-services, in turn, carrying out app logic and database access (via Hibernate). I'm a newbie for a web development and I'm getting lost in a huge amount of the java web frameworks. Even just reading 'introduction' and 'getting started' documents takes a lot of time. So I need an advice which framework(s) are suitable for the task and not very complex for a quick start. I have few things ( arrays ) i would like to store in Application Object to keep as persistant data for about 2h till AppRecycle Anyhow i know how to set an Application Object variable this way: // One way String[] users = new String[1000]; Application["users"] = users; // Another way Application.Add("users", users); However i do not know how to access these variables once in Application Object there is a Getter method Get however it requires int index and other one Contents which get's everything. Here i try to retrive my String[] array but gives me a error that i am trying to convert Object to String. • Using sessions & session variables in a PHP Login Script

  I have just finished creating an entire login and register systsem in PHP, but my problem is I haven't used any sessions yet. (Like, there's not the word "session" in the entire script). I'm kind of a newbie in PHP and I've never used sessions before. What I want to do it, after the user registers and fills out the login form, they will still stay on the same page. So, like one half of the page will be if the session is logged_in and the other part will be else (the user is not logged in so display the login form). • Should I start with Trac 0.12 ?

  I'm going to start using Trac for the first time. From what I've gathered, the latest 0.12 is capable of supporting multiple project easily (which is something I will need since I got about 5 projects). However, it seems 0.12 is still in the development (0.12-dev). So, my question is, is it good enough for a newbie in Trac like me to use it? Does anyone has any experience using it ? It will be installed on a Linux server. BTW, I'll only be using the basic functions such as svn browser, wiki, tickets and others.

  Relative newbie to C# here :) I'm currently creating a web link scraper and having issues with the responses I'm getting when trying to login to the website via my program. I'm trying to use Fiddler to see if my program is sending the proper data, but my program is throwing an AuthenticationException when trying to get a response from the site with Fiddler running. The requests are being sent over HTTPS and Fiddler's certificate is the cause of the excepting being thrown. My question is, what can I implement into my program to have it disregard the certificate authentication? As far as my program goes, the requests and responses are being handled by HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse classes.

The entire string can only be 16 characters long. I am pretty sure I am missing something obvious here regarding the leading zeros. Tried the NTS format and running into the same sort of problems.

  I'm extending TryPython to (along with various other things) allow users to save a file and subsequently import that file. TryPython overloads the built in file operations, so I need to know what parts of import need to hooked into in order for import to use the overloaded file operations. Really, a basic overview of IronPython's import when used in Silverlight would be extremely helpful. I don't need a complete working solution (although I won't stop you from writing one! :).   Hello, I am a newbie to Oracle, and I have used MySQL for most of the time. So now for testing scripts, I was just planning to create a database, but from the resources I have found on google, it doesn't look as simple it is maybe in mysql or in sqlserver. I just need to create a database, say "CREATE DATABASE TESTDB";. That is it, but of the resources I have found, it seems I need to create an instance identifier, decide an authentication method, create an initialization file etc. Do I really have to do all this or am I using the wrong resources. I just need to create a database and add a few tables into it, just to check my connection string etc. I need to check if I am able to connect to my web server.

  Hi, I'm bit of a newbie and had a basic question regarding adhering to the MVC model in iPhone coding. How do I setup a Model class that holds my data and connect it to different controllers in the following setup: Using Interface Builder, I created a tab controller in which - Tab #1 has a Nav Controller and a hierarchy of View Controllers. - Tab #2 has a View Controller So with what I have now, the View Controller under Tab #1 alloc init's the model class and I know how to pass the model from one ViewController to the next in the Navigation Hierarchy where it can pass the data and/or be updated with new data. Question is how to pass it from Tab #1's View Controller to Tab #2 View Controller as there is no code linking the two??? Thanks in advance, Hiren.

• How do I secure password parameters in RESTful web service URIs?

  i'm a newbie to server-side programming, so please forgive me if this gets messy. i've been contracted to create a web service to allow authenticated users to access a database. users have to enter a login and password. been reading and reading about REST vs SOAP, and i thought i'd settled on a RESTful design when i came across this statement: "Data that needs to be secure should not be sent as parameters in URIs." this seems like a major demerit against a RESTful approach. i'm aware that with https the password would be encrypted to prevent man-in-the-middle interception, but that leaves the server logs and client history as possible exposure points. is there a RESTful solution out there for this problem, or do i need to go SOAPy? any advice appreciated.

  When a user signup at my page I want them to be redirected to the root_path(this I have figured out how to do in the user controller). But then I want a modal to show in front of this page(and this should only happen the first time the user see this root/home page(like a flash message). Here is my create method in the user controller: def create @user = User.new(params[:user]) if @user.save sign_in @user redirect_to root_path else render 'new' end end The modal is placed in app/views/layouts/_modal.html.erb. Does anybody know how to make this happen? (Jepp, I am a newbie :)

• PHP: How to check for response code?

  Hi, I'm a relative PHP newbie implementing a PayPal IPN listener and all seems to be working fine, except I dont really know how to check for a response code. I've tried something ugly with cURL but it doesn't work at all (I'm not understanding cURL). I've tried this piece of code that I grabbed from somewhere on the net: $fp = fsockopen('ssl://www.sandbox.paypal.com', 443, $errno, $errstr, 30); $response_headers = get_headers($fp); $response_code = (int)substr($headers[0], 9, 3); ... but it's not working (returns $response_code = 0). So right now, I'm debugging my IPN code without checking for a Response 200. Can anyone more experienced advise me on what's the proper/simple way to check this? Thanks
