• I can't get the Samsung PC Studio to work on Vista or Windows 7

  Has anyone got a solution to this problem have asked Samsung but no reply yet! The software installs OK and the drivers, it sees the Tocco Lite when connected but will not actually connect! error message can't change mode or can't connect as "no response from the device because it is in the initializing stage. Try again after the initialization has completed" but it never does. Please Help!!! Mike

By the instructions here Libtool library used but `LIBTOOL' is undefined The usual way to define `LIBTOOL' is to add `AC_PROG_LIBTOOL' to `configure.in' and run `aclocal' and `autoconf' again. If `AC_PROG_LIBTOOL' is in `configure.in', make sure its definition is in aclocal's search path Libtool installed from source. • SSH Port Forward 22

  I'm trying to set up the following: At work I want to create a local port that will forward to port 22 on my home server. ssh -L 56879:home:22 username@home -p 443 right now I'm testing this on my two machines at home, my ubuntu server and the other my iMac. iMac: 192.168.1.104 ubuntu: 192.168.1.103 iMac - ssh -p 443 -L 56879:192.168.1.103:22 [email protected] in my ~/.ssh/config on my iMac I have port set to 56879. so when I do git pull remoteserver:/path/to/repo.git on my iMac git will use ssh client on my iMac and use port 56879 since setup in config which should forward to 22 on my ubuntu machine. I keep getting connection refused? Any ideas?

• nginx 502 bad gateway - fastcgi not listening? (Debian 5)

  I have experience with nginx but it's always been pre-installed for me (via VPS.net pre-configured image). I really like what it does for me, and now I'm trying to install it on my own server with apt-get. This is a fairly fresh Debian 5 install. I have few extra packages installed but they're all .deb's, no manual compiling or anything crazy going on. Apache is already installed but I disabled it. I did apt-get install nginx and that worked fine. Changed the config around a bit for my needs, although the same problem I'm about to describe happens even with the default config. It took me a while to figure out that the default debian package for nginx doesn't spawn fastcgi processes automatically. But when I try to view a web page via nginx, I just get a 502 bad gateway error. After futzing around a bit, I tried telneting to 127.0.0.1 9000 (fastcgi is listening on port 9000, and nginx is configured to talk to that port), but it just immediately closes the connection. This makes me think the problem is with fastcgi, but I'm not sure what I can do to test it. It may just be closing the connection because it's not getting fed any data to process, but it closes immediately so that makes me think otherwise. So... any advice? I can't figure it out. It doesn't help that it's 1AM, but I'm going crazy here!

  I just migrated a development workstation FROM: Windows XP Pro SP3 with IIS 6 TO: Vista Enterprise 64bit with IIS 7 Since the move, one of my pages that accesses an SQL Server 2000 database is receiving the following error from my ASP.NET 2.0 web page: "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'." I have: enabled Windows Authentication in IIS and web.config disabled Anonymous Authentication in IIS set up Impersonation to run as the authenticated user verified that the logged in user (in this case, me) has access to the appropriate database on the SQL Server verified that my login and impersonation information is correct in the ASP.NET page by checking User.Identity.Name and System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name (both display my username) My connection string using SqlConnection is "Server={SERVER_NAME};Database={DB_NAME};Integrated Security=SSPI;Trusted_Connection=True;" Why is it trying to login with NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGIN? I have to assume it's some setting or web.config entry specific to IIS7 since it worked fine before the migration. NOTE: The SQL Server is Windows authentication only - no mixed mode or SQL only.

• Help me exorcise my demon possessed logon script

  I have a user logon script that copies a file over to a subfolder of the current user's profile path: Script (only showing the line that isn't working): copy /Y c:\records\javasettings_Windows_x86.xml "%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\config">>c:\records\OOo3%USERNAME%.txt 2>&1 To diagnose why it wasn't working, I did a somelogfile.log parameter on the group policy script and found that what the above command is translating to is this: C:\WINDOWS>copy /Y c:\records\javasettings_Windows_x86.xml "C:\Documents and Settings\test2\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\config" 1>>c:\records\OOo3test2.txt 2>&1 So the question is, how do I get rid of (exorcise) the " 1" in that line? Update 1: So the reason the script wasn't working was that the creator didn't have any permissions on the directory. I fixed the permissions, and now the file works but! I still have the " 1" showing on all the logs and would like to know why.

• "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly" when trying to install MySQL on Win7 x64.

  Hi, I've run into a brick wall trying to install MySQL v5.5 on my machine. My PC is Windows 7 x64, Enterprise edition. MySQL installs fine, but when I run the "MySQL Instance Configuration Wizard", it pauses forever on the step "Start Service" (I can let it run for 30 minutes with no response). If I go into services, I see that the "MySQL" service hasn't started, and if I try to start it, it says "Windows could not start MySQL Service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." I've tried the following: Turning off firewall. Uninstalling all antivirus software. Installing / reinstalling 32-bit version of MySQL. Installing / reinstalling 64-bit version of MySQL. Uninstalling, deleting the contents of "C:\program files\MySQL" and "C:\program files (x86)\MySQL", reinstalling. Checking to see that there is no rogue services named MySQL???? (from a previous install). Checking that port 3306 is not used by an alternate program. Changing the default port that MySQL uses. Checking for "my.ini" and "my.ini.cnf" in "C:\windows" (nothing there but that can cause a problem). Running both MySQL installer, and configuration wizard, in "Adminstrator mode". Turning off UAC. Installing with defaults, not changing anything. Rebooting my machine (about 6 reboots so far). Opening up port 3306 in the firewall (both TCP and UDP, inbound and outbound). Swearing at the klutz of a programmer who designed MySQL so you can't even install it (as if that would help!) My machine is working 100% in every other way. InfiniDB (a MySQL compatible database) installs 100%, as does Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft SQL Server, etc, etc. Your advice on how to work around this? p.s. Here is the screen it got stuck on for 15 minutes until I killed the process: Update 2010-12-20 Tried MySQL v5.1, it didn't work either. Its amazing - if you type "mysqld /?", or "mysqld -help", it doesn't give you any help. And, if you try to restart the service manually, it doesn't display any error messages. Could it be any more unhelpful? Update 2010-12-21 Installed MySQL 6.0 alpha, and it worked. However, I'd rather not use an alpha release, given that the "stable" release is anything but :( Update 2010-12-21 Found http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/windows-troubleshooting.html, dealing with troubleshooting under Windows. • ASP.NET website http requests appear to be queueing

  We cloned our servers this weekend into a colo. All non-asp.net sites are performing great, but ASP.NET sites are very slow. It appears to be an issue with the requests/connections, but I cannot figure out where. The reason I think it is a problem with the connections is that when I launch fiddler and watch the requests, all requests appear to happen sequentially. Even the static image requests are taking 5 seconds and another one doesn't start until the first one finishes. MaxConnections is set to 100 in machine.config and the "website connections" are set to unlimited. Any idea what else coudld be causing this? from machine.config:

• Installing Heroku on Lucid Lynx reveals missing dependencies

  I am trying to get a Ruby on Rails app hosted free somewhere, and Heroku is looking like my last resource. It is supposed to work on Linux, and the gem installs with no errors, but whenever I run any Heroku command it spits out several errors, all connected, and talking about a failed require. I looked it up in the code, and it says: require 'readline' That is it. I have tried to install every variation of libreadline that I can find and think of, but none of it makes any difference.

  After some work on my computer, perhaps some updates installs, it didn't boot anymore. BSOD on windows logo loading. After some research I've found out that if I replace the SYSTEM hive of the register with the last backup it boots ok, but of course goes back to an old stage of machine setup. So my question is: where does register stores hardware and/or updates/software that loads in the machine boot, so that I can check which program is producing that BSOD and disable it? System is Win 7 64 bits SP1

One of the places has just one log file that i want to use with logrotate, for the other location i want to use logrotate on all log files in that folder. I've set up an entry called millionaire-staging in /etc/logrotate.d and have been testing it by calling logrotate -f millionaire-staging. Here's my entry: #/etc/logrotate.d/millionaire-staging compress rotate 1000 dateext missingok sharedscripts copytruncate /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/log/staging.log { weekly } /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/shared/log/*log { size 40M } So, for the first folder, i want to rotate weekly (this seems to have worked fine). For the other, i want to rotate only when the log files get bigger than 40 meg.   There is this CVE-2014-0224 bug in openssl so I would like to update my affected # openssl version OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010 But there is no update for squeeze. I read the it is already fixed in squeeze-LTS. What I am supposed to do? Will there be an fix for squeeze and I just need to wait? Should I install an openssl update manually? How? I tried to install openssl-0.9.8za and openssl-1.0.1h with wget, ./config, make, make install but openssl version is still that same. I also tried config parameters but with this build fails.

• Google SMTP settings not sending email

  I am having a hard time making the email sending in GitLab to work (changing email in profile settings). My server has exim4, I can tell its working because if I do simple mail() in PHP, it thus sends the email to the recipient. Now, in GitLab seems that it wasn't. So I modified productions.rb to have SMTP settings, and use Google SMTP: config.action_mailer.delivery_method = :smtp config.action_mailer.smtp_settings = { address: "smtp.gmail.com", port: 465, user_name: "[email protected]", password: "hashpassword", domain: "gmail.com", authentication: :plain, enable_starttls_auto: true } I even tried changing the port to 587 and 467 but still it doesn't work. Why is that? Can you please lead me to where I am missing?

• Microsoft Windows 64-bit application development best practises installation folder.

  My problem is that a vendor is providing me with a 64bit application (packed in a 64bit installer) but it goes and installs to the x86 (Program Files) Folder and he keeps telling me its OK but I want it to install in the Program Files directory; as the 32 bit version does that and scripts for the app are developed based on this assumption. Can someone direct me to the Microsoft recommended best practices for 64bit applications(links). Thanks in advance.

  I need a copy of the Myriad-Roman font that is the default font for Adobe Illustrator. I have Illustrator installed but I need to put the font on my sever so my PDF DLL can read the font since my PDF is using that Myriad-Roman font. Please don't get distracted about the PDF part - I just need to know how to find the font wherever Adobe installs it when I install Illustrator (CS5). TIA!

• How can I fix this configure error?

  I'm trying to build mosh from source on a SUSE10 machine and am getting the following error: checking for protobuf... no configure: error: Package requirements (protobuf) were not met: No package 'protobuf' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables protobuf_CFLAGS and protobuf_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. I downloaded the source to protobuf and installed it in a custom path as well. I'm not using a package manager for any of this and cannot for various reasons outside the scope of the question. I added that custom path to my PATH and rehashed. Typically, this is enough for configure but in this case its not doing the trick. I added the prefix for protobuf to PKG_CONFIG_PATH but am still hitting this error. What should I do next to get past this error?

• 32-bit program using Office IFilters when 64-bit Office is installed

  64-bit Office installs 64-bit IFilters for its document types, but does not install 32-bit IFilters. Therefore, 32-bit programs that rely on IFilters cannot work with 64-bit Office. And although there is an option to download 32-bit IFilters from Microsoft, the installer will not run on a 64-bit machine, complaining about architecture mismatch. Is there any way to make 32-bit programs extract text from Office documents using IFilters when 64-bit Office is installed? Thanks.

I google around but the same issue ! How can I load this extension _ _"

• Munin - apache_watch_ plugin, does not show any data in the graphs that shows activity for per vhosts

  I am using Munin for monitoring my server. I installed the apache_watch_ plugin so that i could see apache related activity. The graphs for apache_accesses, apache_processes and apache_volume work fine. But the graphs for Apache Documents served, Apache Input/output (bytes), Apache Requests don't show any activity in the graph. The important thing is that these graphs that don't show anything are supposed to show the data divided per vhosts. I am on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (Lucid Lynx) and the munin version is 1.4.4. One thing that I think may be the cause for issue is that I have a separate config file for every vhost, which are included in the main config. But I can't really figure out any solution. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

• Can I make ssh tell me which control file it would use for multiplexing?

  I am using the following options in my ~/.ssh/config in order to enable connection multiplexing: ControlMaster auto ControlPath ~/.ssh/control/master-%r@%h:%p However, this has the annoying problem that the first shell to connect to a particular server must be the last to disconnect, because it is the master connection that all the other connections are using. So if you log out of the master, it appears to just hang. To solve this, I would like to wrap ssh with a script that checks if the control master file exists, and if not, starts a master ssh process in the background. Then it would start a slave ssh session. In order to accomplish this, my script would have to determine the path to the control file that ssh would use. This would entail parsing the ssh command line options and config files and implementing the logic for determining the ControlPath. Is there any way to just ask ssh what path it would use, so I can check it?
