Java’s platform independence, high level of functionality, security, and developer productivity, address the key pain points in building embedded solutions... and that’s not just our opinion. Take a look at the new IDC report on Oracle’s stewardship of Java, “Java: Two and a half Years After the Acquisition” (doc #236309, August 2012). Java already powers around 3 billion devices worldwide, with traditional desktops and servers being only a small portion of that, and the ‘Internet of Things‘ is just really starting to explode. It is estimated that within five years, intelligent and connected embedded devices will outnumber desktops and mobile phones combined, and will generate the majority of the traffic on the Internet. Is your platform and services strategy ready for the coming disruptions and opportunities? It should come as no surprise that Oracle is enthusiastically focused on Java for Embedded .  New this year, Oracle is demonstrating its further commitment to the embedded marketplace by offering, for the first time, a dedicated conference focused on the business aspects of embedded Java: Java Embedded @ JavaOne. Co-located with the technically-focused JavaOne conference, Java Embedded @ JavaOne will run for two days in San Francisco targeting C-level executives, architects, business leaders, and decision makers. With 24 inspired business sessions with expert speakers from 18 prominent companies driving the next generation of Java Embedded business solutions (such as Cinterion, ARM, Hitachi and Rockwell Automation), attendees will learn how Java Embedded technologies and solutions can offer compelling value and a clear path forward to business efficiency and agility. You’ll also see how Oracle’s comprehensive technology portfolio can deliver a complete ‘Machine to Machine’ platform, from device to datacenter, resulting in a highly secure, resilient, high-performance and cost-effective solution. Seating is limited and we expect a lot of interest in this new event, so please register now! Note that if you are already attending the Oracle OpenWorld or JavaOne conferences, you can attend this conference for only $100 more. Watch my video below to find out more. I hope to see you there! • How do I make UITableViewCell's ImageView a fixed size even when the image is smaller.

    - by Robert
I have a bunch of images I am using for cell's image views, they are all no bigger than 50x50. e.g. 40x50, 50x32, 20x37 ..... When I load the table view, the text doesn't line up because the width of the images varies. Also I would like small images to appear in the centre as opposed to on the left. Here is the code I am trying inside my 'cellForRowAtIndexPath' method cell.imageView.autoresizingMask = ( UIViewAutoresizingNone ); cell.imageView.autoresizesSubviews = NO; cell.imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeCenter; cell.imageView.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50); cell.imageView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50); cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageWithData: imageData]; As you can see I have tried a few things, but none of them work.

  • Invalid algorithm specified on Windows 2003 Server only

  • Why is the UpdatePanel Response size changing on alternate requests?

    - by Decker
We are using UpdatePanel in a small portion of a large page and have noticed a performance problem where IE7 becomes CPU bound and the control within the UpdatePanel takes a long time (upwards of 30 seconds) to render. We also noticed that Firefox does not seem to suffer from these delays. We ran both Fiddler (for IE) and Firebug (for Firefox) and noticed that the real problem lied with the amount of data being returned in update panel responses. Within the UpdatePanel control there is a table that contains a number of ListBox controls. The real problem is that EVERY OTHER TIME the response (from making ListBox selections) alternates from 30K to 430K. Firefox handles the 400+K response in a reasonable amount of time. For whatever reason, IE7 goes CPU bound while it is presumably processing this data. So irrespective of whether or not we should be using an UpdatePanel or not, we'd like to figure out why every other async postback response is larger by a factor of more than 10 than the previous one. When the response is in the 30K range, IE updates the display within a second. On the alternate times, the response time is well over 10 times longer. Any idea why this alternating behavior should be happening with an UpdatePanel?

  • fsck on LVM snapshots

    - by Alpha01
I'm trying to do some file system checks using LVM snapshots of our Logical Volumes to see if any of them have dirty file systems. The problem that I have is that our LVM only has one Volume Group with no available space. I was able to do fsck's on some of the logical volumes using a loopback file system. However my question is, is it possible to create a 200GB loopback file system, and saved it on the same partition/logical volume that I'll be taking a snapshot of? Is LVM smart enough to not take a snapshot copy of the actual snapshot? [root@server z]# vgdisplay --- Volume group --- VG Name Web2-Vol System ID Format lvm2 Metadata Areas 1 Metadata Sequence No 29 VG Access read/write VG Status resizable MAX LV 0 Cur LV 6 Open LV 6 Max PV 0 Cur PV 1 Act PV 1 VG Size 544.73 GB PE Size 4.00 MB Total PE 139450 Alloc PE / Size 139450 / 544.73 GB Free PE / Size 0 / 0 VG UUID BrVwNz-h1IO-ZETA-MeIf-1yq7-fHpn-fwMTcV [root@server z]# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 9.7G 3.6G 5.6G 40% / /dev/sda1 251M 29M 210M 12% /boot /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-var 12G 1.1G 11G 10% /var /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-var--spool 12G 184M 12G 2% /var/spool /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-var--lib--mysql 30G 15G 14G 52% /var/lib/mysql /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-usr 13G 3.3G 8.9G 27% /usr /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-z 468G 197G 267G 43% /z /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-tmp 3.0G 76M 2.8G 3% /tmp tmpfs 7.9G 92K 7.9G 1% /dev/shm The logical volume in question is /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-z. I'm afraid if I created the loopback file system in /dev/mapper/Web2--Vol-z and take a snapshot of it, the disk size will be trippled in size, thus running out of disk space available.

  • Wrapping malloc - C

    - by Appu
I am a beginner in C. While reading git's source code, I found this wrapper function around malloc. void *xmalloc(size_t size) { void *ret = malloc(size); if (!ret && !size) ret = malloc(1); if (!ret) { release_pack_memory(size, -1); ret = malloc(size); if (!ret && !size) ret = malloc(1); if (!ret) die("Out of memory, malloc failed"); } #ifdef XMALLOC_POISON memset(ret, 0xA5, size); #endif return ret; } Questions I couldn't understand why are they using malloc(1)? What does release_pack_memory does and I can't find this functions implementation in the whole source code. What does the #ifdef XMALLOC_POISON memset(ret, 0xA5, size); does? I am planning to reuse this function on my project. Is this a good wrapper around malloc? Any help would be great.

  • extern(al) problem

But then what about def.cpp? Why I'm not getting err msg that function f(X) is already defined? Here shouldn't apply ODR rule. Second concern I'm having is that if in def.cpp I change the return type of f from int to double intelliSense underlines this as an error but program still compiles? Why?

  • Partial specialization with reference template parameter fails to compile in VS2005

    - by Blair Holloway
I have code that boils down to the following: template struct Foo {}; template & I struct FooBar {}; //////// template struct Baz {}; template & I struct Baz< FooBar { static void func(FooBar& value); }; //////// struct MyStruct { static const Foo s_floatFoo; }; // Elsewhere: const Foo MyStruct::s_floatFoo; void callBaz() { typedef FooBar FloatFooBar; FloatFooBar myFloatFooBar; Baz::func(myFloatFooBar); } This compiles successfully under GCC, however, under VS2005, I get: error C2039: 'func' : is not a member of 'Baz' with [ T=FloatFooBar ] error C3861: 'func': identifier not found However, if I change const Foo<T>& I to const Foo<T>* I (passing I by pointer rather than by reference), and defining FloatFooBar as: typedef FooBar FloatFooBar; Both GCC and VS2005 are happy. What's going on? Is this some kind of subtle template substitution failure that VS2005 is handling differently to GCC, or a compiler bug? (The strangest thing: I thought I had the above code working in VS2005 earlier this morning. But that was before my morning coffee. I'm now not entirely certain I wasn't under some sort of caffeine-craving-induced delirium...)

  • Array of ArrayList Java

    - by David Bobo
Hi, I am creating an PriorityQueue with multiple queues. I am using an Array to store the multiple ArrayLists that make up my different PriorityQueues. Here is what I have for my constructor so far: ArrayList<ProcessRecord> pq; ArrayList[] arrayQ; MultiList(){ arrayQ = new ArrayList[9]; pq = new ArrayList<ProcessRecord>(); } The problem comes when I am trying to get the size of the entire array, that is the sum of the sizes of each ArrayList in the array. public int getSize(){ int size = 0; for(int i = 1; i <=9; i++){ size = size + this.arrayQ[i].size(); } return size; } is not seeming to work. Am I declaring the Array of ArrayList correctly? I keep getting an error saying that this.arrayQ[i].size() is not a method. (the .size() being the problem) Thanks for any help! David

  • Remove duplicates from a list of nested dictionaries

    - by user2924306
I'm writing my first python program to manage users in Atlassian On Demand using their RESTful API. I call the users/search?username= API to retrieve lists of users, which returns JSON. The results is a list of complex dictionary types that look something like this: [ { "self": "http://www.example.com/jira/rest/api/2/user?username=fred", "name": "fred", "avatarUrls": { "24x24": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=small&ownerId=fred", "16x16": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=xsmall&ownerId=fred", "32x32": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=medium&ownerId=fred", "48x48": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=large&ownerId=fred" }, "displayName": "Fred F. User", "active": false }, { "self": "http://www.example.com/jira/rest/api/2/user?username=andrew", "name": "andrew", "avatarUrls": { "24x24": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=small&ownerId=andrew", "16x16": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=xsmall&ownerId=andrew", "32x32": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=medium&ownerId=andrew", "48x48": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=large&ownerId=andrew" }, "displayName": "Andrew Anderson", "active": false } ] I'm calling this multiple times and thus getting duplicate people in my results. I have been searching and reading but cannot figure out how to deduplicate this list. I figured out how to sort this list using a lambda function. I realize I could sort the list, then iterate and delete duplicates. I'm thinking there must be a more elegant solution. Thank you!

I am hoping that maybe the information I have provided may help a little bit. 208741,Exception,,,,2011-06-21 00:30:14.193,SERVERNAME,2624,1,CLIENTNAME,The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. , at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.HttpWebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request) at Microsoft.Web.Services3.WebServicesClientProtocol.GetResponse(WebRequest request, IAsyncResult result) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Net.FixedSizeReader.ReadPacket(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count) at System.Net.Security._SslStream.StartFrameHeader(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count, AsyncProtocolRequest asyncRequest) at System.Net.Security._SslStream.StartReading(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count, AsyncProtocolRequest asyncRequest) at System.Net.Security._SslStream.ProcessRead(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count, AsyncProtocolRequest asyncRequest) at System.Net.TlsStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Net.PooledStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Net.Connection.SyncRead(HttpWebRequest request, Boolean userRetrievedStream, Boolean probeRead),2004437127,114,1 208742,Exception,,,,2011-06-21 00:30:14.227,SERVERNAME,2624,1,CLIENTNAME,Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. , at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Net.FixedSizeReader.ReadPacket(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count) at System.Net.Security._SslStream.StartFrameHeader(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count, AsyncProtocolRequest asyncRequest) at System.Net.Security._SslStream.StartReading(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count, AsyncProtocolRequest asyncRequest) at System.Net.Security._SslStream.ProcessRead(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count, AsyncProtocolRequest asyncRequest) at System.Net.TlsStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Net.PooledStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size) at System.Net.Connection.SyncRead(HttpWebRequest request, Boolean userRetrievedStream, Boolean probeRead),2004437127,114,1 208743,Exception,,,,2011-06-21 00:30:14.287,SERVERNAME,2624,1,CLIENTNAME,An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host , at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size),-691097507,62,1

  • dlopen / dlsym with as little linking as possible

    - by johannes
I have an application which can make use of plugins which are loaded at runtime using dlopen. Each of the plugins defines a function toretrieve the plugin information which is defined using a common structure. Something like that: struct plugin { char *name; char *app_version; int app_verion_id; char *plugin_version; int plugin_version_id; /* ... */ }; struct plugin p = { "sample plugin",APP_VERION,APP_VERSION_ID,"1.2.3",10203 }; struct plugin *get_plugin() { return &p; } This works well and plugins can be loaded. Now i want to build a small tool to read these properties without linking the whole application. For doing that I have some code like this: void *handle; struct plugin *plugin; struct plugin *(get_plugin*)(); handle = dlopen(filename, RTLD_LAZY); if (!handle) { /*...return; ...*/ } get_plugin = dlym(handle, "get_plugin"); if (!get_plugin) { /*...return; ...*/ } plugin = get_plugin(); printf("Plugin: %s\n", plugin->name); This works nice for simple plugins. The issue is that many plugins reference further symbols from the application, which are resolved even though RTLD_LAZY was set. (like global variables from the application which are used to initialize plugin-global things) So the dlopen() call fails with an error like fatal: relocation error: file sample_plugin.so: symbol application_some_symbol: referenced symbol not found. As I just want to have access to the single simple structure I was wondering how I can prevent the linker from doing that much of his work.

  • "EXC_BAD_ACCESS: Unable to restore previously selected frame" Error, Array size?

    - by Job
Hi there, I have an algorithm for creating the sieve of Eratosthenes and pulling primes from it. It lets you enter a max value for the sieve and the algorithm gives you the primes below that value and stores these in a c-style array. Problem: Everything works fine with values up to 500.000, however when I enter a large value -while running- it gives me the following error message in xcode: Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. warning: Unable to restore previously selected frame. Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) My first idea was that I didn't use large enough variables, but as I am using 'unsigned long long int', this should not be the problem. Also the debugger points me to a point in my code where a point in the array get assigned a value. Therefore I wonder is there a maximum limit to an array? If yes: should I use NSArray instead? If no, then what is causing this error based on this information? EDIT: This is what the code looks like (it's not complete, for it fails at the last line posted). I'm using garbage collection. /*--------------------------SET UP--------------------------*/ unsigned long long int upperLimit = 550000; // unsigned long long int sieve[upperLimit]; unsigned long long int primes[upperLimit]; unsigned long long int indexCEX; unsigned long long int primesCounter = 0; // Fill sieve with 2 to upperLimit for(unsigned long long int indexA = 0; indexA < upperLimit-1; ++indexA) { sieve[indexA] = indexA+2; } unsigned long long int prime = 2; /*-------------------------CHECK & FIND----------------------------*/ while(!((prime*prime) > upperLimit)) { //check off all multiples of prime for(unsigned long long int indexB = prime-2; indexB < upperLimit-1; ++indexB) { // Multiple of prime = 0 if(sieve[indexB] != 0) { if(sieve[indexB] % prime == 0) { sieve[indexB] = 0; } } } /*---------------- Search for next prime ---------------*/ // index of current prime + 1 unsigned long long int indexC = prime - 1; while(sieve[indexC] == 0) { ++indexC; } prime = sieve[indexC]; // Store prime in primes[] primes[primesCounter] = prime; // This is where the code fails if upperLimit > 500000 ++primesCounter; indexCEX = indexC + 1; } As you may or may not see, is that I am -very much- a beginner. Any other suggestions are welcome of course :)
