    I would like to use Linux(Fedora) on a Aluminum MacBook Pro, but since the Touchpad on a MacBook Pro is only a giant button Apple does some custom tracking. When there is one finger placed, and a second follows (the click can occur before or after that) it will be interpreted as a drag. So the strong thumb can be used to hold pressure and the more accurate index finger can do the pointing. But Linux interprets this as a right click, since it only cares if two fingers are on the pad.     Hi everyone, I assume those who are reading this page know what vimwiki and dropbox.com are and what they are for, so I might directly go into my confusion. The common way of setting a PRIVATE vimwiki on dropbox is simply let your vimwiki directories be under Dropbox folder (but not Dropbox/Public/ because it would be PUBLIC). Dropbox allows directly viewing html with dropbox.com/* url: for example a index.html can be accessed by url https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Wiki/html/index.html?w=bfead71a, being added after the file name a specified string, ?w=bfead71a. Hence, if inside index.html there is reference to A.html, which is located in the same folder index.html is in, it has to be accessed using some url like https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Wiki/html/index.html?w=SPECIFIED_STRING. But it is seemingly impossible to hack vimwiki in order to make the hrefs in converted htmls corrected in this way. Is there some approach that can resolve this problem? I hope I make myself clear.   • Filesystem fragmentation on the level of set of files

    The file is stored in blocks by the file system. The block is the smallest amount of data the file system can assign to store a file. The classical definition of a fragmented file is that the file is stored in blocks that are 'scattered' (that are physically non-contiguous) around the hard drive. What I want to ask about is this second type of fragmentation I've came up with. Lets suppose we install a program. This program has very many files. When the program starts, the program always loads the contents of those files sequentially. Now, even if the hard disk is defragmented, there is still a possibility that the files (but not the blocks building up to files) will be scattered on the disk and thus the program launch time will be longer. Actually, this time could be longer due to defragmentation of the disk, as the defragmentation process not only glues fragmented files but also moves some files to optimize free space chunks. The questions: is the type of fragmentation I mentioned relevant for the file system? is it possible to remedy this kind of fragmentation and if yes, how would you do it? Also, I'm not sure if this question should belong to superuser or to serverfault (as I guess the filesystem fragmentation is more important in the server environment).

  • Quickly set up a Windows Server and automatically install and configure software

    Yesterday I spent far too much time downloading and installing software on Windows Server 2008. I only had to install a simple server for SQL Server 2008 Express using Microsoft's Web Platform Installer, then configure it to enable remote connections. Everything had to be attended, wasting my time. On a Linux system, this would be trivial to automate, but this is Windows. I do this very rarely, but in the future I would like to make this take as little time as possible. I could do a disc image with everything I installed and configured, but is there a better way? I know nothing of advanced deployment techniques on Windows. Ideally I would like to be able to remotely re-install the OS, or have an unattended install (which I know is possible). Any tips to make the software I need easier to and install and configure with minimal interaction necessary would be helpful. I don't expect everything I asked for to be possible and easy to do. Basically, If any part of it can be done quicker or at least without user input, that's what I'm looking for.

  • Can't delete keyboard shortcut set for a .ink file

    So, I installed the Chrome App Launcher on my PC (now on Win8.1) a few weeks ago, and, as I use it very often, I wanted to assign a keyboard shortcut for it. So, I right-clicked the icon on my desktop, and I assigned Ctrl+Alt+<. The problem is... I moved the shortcut to my taskbar, and suddenly noticed that when I wanted to write the "\" (on a Belgian keyboard), it launched the Chrome App Launcher, which is very annoying. I wanted to change it back, but I can't... I deleted the taskbar shortcut, but the keyboard shortcut still launches the App Launcher. I also tried creating a new shortcut with the same association, hoping that it would crush the existing one, but it didn't work. I searched on Google for similar issues, and I couldn't find any... x~x So... How can I delete this shortcut association..?

    How do I make a whole row follow wherever I am in the Calc document when I scroll down/up? I'm looking for something that keeps a row from moving, or to make it stay put. This is so that when I want to see other rows, this one locked row will stay in place and allow me to refer back to it on screen without having to scroll all the way back up to the top of the document. Normal: Scrolled down: Further scrolled down: You can see the row with the yellow background, (CD-Nr.|Title|Genre|Lang|CD) is following me as I scroll down. How is this done?
