• can't see the result after i update a row in a table in a gridview

  Peace! i created a gridview and ive bended the data using a ObjectDataSource, for some reasons i created the CRUD methods to do the work instead of using the CRUD method generated by the LINQDataSource; everything is just working fine but the update method, when i update a row in my gridview everything become as if there isnt any update! but when i check the database i can see that the rows is been updated! i can't find a solution (yet) to this issue. i'am using the updatepanel to have the autopostback without refreshing the page. thank you

  I'm writing a SQL Server stored procedure in which I want to lock a table for update before executing the body of the stored procedure. I don't want to prevent other processes from reading the table, but I do want to prevent other processes updating the table. Here is my first attempt: CREATE PROCEDURE someProcedure BEGIN SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ COMITTED BEGIN TRANSANCTION SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TheTable WITH (UPDLOCK, TABLOCK) -- Pause procedure so that we can view the locks with sp_lock WAITFOR DELAY '00:15' -- Do stuff COMMIT END When I execute the stored procedure, and invoke sp_lock, I see that the table is indeed locked. • NHibernate parent-childs save redundant sql update executed

  I'm trying to save (insert) parent object with a collection of child objects, all objects are new. I prefer to manually specify what to save\update and when so I do not use any cascade saves in mappings and flush sessions by myself. So basically I save this object graph like: session.Save(Parent) foreach (var child in Parent.Childs) { session.Save(child); } session.Flush() I expect this code to insert Parent row, then each child row, however NHibernate executes this SQL: INSERT INTO PARENT.... INSERT INTO CHILD .... UPDATE CHILD SET ParentId=@1 WHERE Id=@2 This update statement is absolutely unnecessary, ParentId was already set correctly in INSERT. How do I get rid of it? Performance is very important for me.

• Netbean Cannot update Google App Engine server to appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2

  I am using Netbean 6.7.1 I just update my google app engine plugin in netbean with Netbean auto update. I found out there is new app engine SDK. So i want to update my google app engine server to point to appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2 After I download appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2.zip. I unzip it. Then at Netbean: I already have a Google App Engine server under Services - Server. I can't find anyway to point it to the newly installed sdk folder. So I deleted the existing "Google App Engine" server & try to add a new one. Server - Add Server - Google App Engine - at "Installation Location", I point it to google app engine folder, which is "C:\appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2", it show this message at bottom "C:\appengine-java-sdk-1.3.2" & don't allow me to continue. May I know how to solve this? thanks!

  Hi, I'm looking for a way to do the following in mysql. INSERT INTO category (cat_id,sku,description,color) VALUES ('$cat_id','$sku','$description','$color') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE description=$description" this works fine... but I want something further to happen if there is a duplicate key. I want to copy a row from the 'product' table to the 'categorized_products'... AND INSERT categorized_products (a,b,c) SELECT a,b,c FROM products WHERE products.cat = '$cat_id' is there a way to do the INSERT...SELECT as part of the first query or do I need to evaluate the above with mysql_affected_rows ( 1 is updated and == 1 is inserted) and then run my second query. Obviously the above will work but means another query and more LOC. Thanks!

  I have a view, passing a LIST of Originals to this method. Before the post happened, i changed some of the properties. I now receive the updated list as a parameter in my method and would like to update the database with these new values. [HttpPost] public ActionResult NewValue(Page model) { var ListOfOriginals = Session.Query<Original>().ToList(); //GETS the objects i want to update listOfOriginals = Model.Pages // Model.page is the new list containing the updated values RavenSession.SaveChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } When i debug, i can see that listOfOriginals gets the new values. The problem is that i dont know how to update the RavenDB whith these new values. I tried adding this: Session.Store(listOfOriginals) before the SaveChanges() but that resulted in an error. Maybe there is a much better way of doing this?

  I have a Map, that I want to persist. The domain object is something like this: public class Settings { private String key; private String value; public String getKey() { ... } public String getValue() { ... } public void setKey() { ... } public void setValue() { ... } } The standard approach is to generate a Setting for each pair, and saveOrUpdate() it. But it generates way too much queries, because I need to save lots of settings at a time, and it really affects perfomance. Is there a way to do this using one update query?

• Displaying same image multiple times at different locations in a web page using JavaScript or CSS

  I’m looking to create a web page with 6 coupons on it, two per line in a web space of 1275 X 1650. Each coupon space will consist of a different image. The problem is I will be creating 20 such web pages that will have these coupons on them. Now some of the same images will appear in different locations/positions on the various web pages. Is there a way to update the same image that appear in different locations/positions at the same time? And what language is used to complete this? I’ve tried CSS but it don’t think it’s possible. So should I be using JavaScript.

• Unable to execute an oracle update statement within perl

  I have a problem in a perl script that I'm writing. When I run the script it hangs after prepare(). I've tried to run the update statement from SQL Developer and it works fine. I've also tried to print out all parameters and they are correct. • Faster way to update 250k rows with SQL

  I need to update about 250k rows on a table and each field to update will have a different value depending on the row itself (not calculated based on the row id or the key but externally). I tried with a parametrized query but it turns out to be slow (I still can try with a table-value parameter, SqlDbType.Structured, in SQL Server 2008, but I'd like to have a general way to do it on several databases including MySql, Oracle and Firebird). Making a huge concat of individual updates is also slow. What about creating a temp table and running an update joining my table and the tmp one? Will it work faster?

I also have a temporary table #temp(account, last_contact_date) which I use to update the table1.   My client has 1000 WordPress blogs hosted on a server for customers. Each one is in its own domain through cpanel and SuPHP, running in CGI mode on Apache2.2. Now he wants me (I'm the PHP programmer) to get WP-Cache loaded out on each of these blogs and not just activated, but enabled. He also wants the timeout value set to 2 days instead of the default setting. I have root on LAMP. What is the preferred way to roll out an update to each blog such that on a page view, it sees if WP-Cache is enabled or not. If not, it needs to copy it out from a central source, activate it, and then enable it along with the different timeout value being used.

As in: [textbox - update username] [update button] - username sent to server - .JSON file updated - [textblock - showing updated username in UI]. I'm not looking for exact code solutions, I'm rather looking for good solutions on this, and/or if this is a terrible idea of an easy database(?).

Consider that i have an excel workbook and an access table not necessarily having a similar structure (i.e. They may not have same number of columns) When i open the workbook the rows in the excel sheet get populated by the rows in access table (copied from the access table into the excel sheet's particular range of cells specified using macros). Then i modify certain cells in the excel sheet. I also have a button called "Save" in the excel sheet. When pressed, this will execute a macro.   I'm using a Java wrapper for SQLite called SQLiteJDBC - this may have some bearing on any answers... I have a table which I've displayed in a GUI, within that UI I have a button for the fields for an individual row of that table. When I save my changes I do this... Statement stmt = connection.createStatement(); stmt.execute("update 'tableName' set 'fieldName'=1 where userid=1"); int updateCount = stmt.getUpdateCount(); My connection is valid, I get no exceptions thrown and getUpdateCount() returns '1' indicating that one row has been updated. However my table is not updated. I've spent the last few hours trying to work out what's going on but I'm not having any luck. Help!!

I was thinking how nice it would be if my library could update itself -- or if I could just release a bootstrap library that downloads the target library when the app is installed. I see this class in 1.5 called "DexClassLoader" but there seems to be precious little on the web besides the API docs. Has anyone used this successfully for the scenario which I described? Also, do the terms of the Android Market permit such a thing?

  Hi-- I'm stuck on a mySQL query using ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE. I'm getting the error: mySQL Error: 1062 - Duplicate entry 'hr2461809-3' for key 'fname' The table looks like this: id int(10) NOT NULL default '0', picid int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', fname varchar(255) NOT NULL default '', type varchar(5) NOT NULL default '.jpg', path varchar(255) NOT NULL default '', PRIMARY KEY (id), UNIQUE KEY fname (fname), KEY picid (propid) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; And the query that's breaking is this: INSERT INTO images SET picid=732, fname='hr2461809-3', path='pictures/' ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE picid=732, fname='hr2461809-3', path='pictures/' I'm using a very similar query elsewhere in the app with no issues. I'm not sure why this one breaks. I expected that when the UNIQUE KEY on fname gets violated, that it would simply update the row where the violation occurred? Thanks for any help

• How can I enable auto-updates in a Qt cross-platform app?

  I love applications that are able to update themselves without any effort from the user (think: Sparkle framework for Mac). Is there any code/library I can leverage to do this in a Qt app, without having to worry about the OS details? At least for Windows/Mac/user-owned-linux-binaries. I could integrate Sparkle on the Mac version, code something for the linux case (only for a standalone, user-owned binary; I won't mess with distros packaging, if my program is ever packaged), and find someone to help me on the Windows side, but that's horribly painful. Surely I'm not the only one who wants to provide this to users?
