• WinForms app config manager is x86 and cannot reference assemblies that targets Any CPU

  Hi I'm using Win7 64x and Visual Studio 2010. I created a library/framework targeting Any CPU. Then I created a new WinForms project that uses that framework, leaving the default values of the wizard. I mean, I didn't change anything. When I reference my framework, VS cannot find the assemblies. If I go to the project properties, it is targeting Any CPU (as expected, I can change it if I want). But if I go to Configuration Manager, the only choice I have for that project is x86. And I guess that is the problem. I tried to add Any CPU as a new Target but I was unable to. Could someone help me? :) Thanks in advance!

• Web Servicet Client in JBOSS 5.1 with JDK6

I am trying to use jdk6 to run JBOSS 5.1, and I downloaded the JDK6 version of JBOSS 5.1. This works fine and my EAR application deploys fine. However, when I want to run a web service client with code like this: public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { System.out.println("creating the web service client..."); TestClient client = new TestClient("http://localhost:8080/tc_test_project-tc_test_project/TestBean?wsdl"); Test service = client.getTestPort(); System.out.println("calling service.retrieveAll() using the service client"); List<TestEntity> list = service.retrieveAll(); System.out.println("the number of elements in list retrieved using the client is " + list.size()); } I get the following exception: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: setProperty must be overridden by all subclasses of SOAPMessage at org.jboss.ws.core.jaxws.client.ClientImpl.handleRemoteException(ClientImpl.java:396) at org.jboss.ws.core.jaxws.client.ClientImpl.invoke(ClientImpl.java:302) at org.jboss.ws.core.jaxws.client.ClientProxy.invoke(ClientProxy.java:170) at org.jboss.ws.core.jaxws.client.ClientProxy.invoke(ClientProxy.java:150) Now, here's the really interesting part. If I change the JDK that my the code above is running under from JDK6 to JDK5, the exception above goes away! It's really strange. The only way I found for the code above to run under JDK6 was to take the JBOSS_HOME/lib/endorsed folder and copy it to JDK6_HOME/lib. This seems like it shouldn't be necessary, but it is. Is there any other way to make this work other than using the workaround I just described?

EJB reference is required for communication between Ear2 and Ear1.i am setting the below value to Target Resource JNDI Name: corbaloc::ClusterServer1:2810,:ClusterServer2:2810/cell/clusters/Cluster1/ejb/com/mycompanyName/projectName/ejb/facade/EjbFacadeHome But i am getting the below error Caused by: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provider URL: "corbaloc::mums00100251.in.net.intra:2810,:mums00100392.in.net.intra:2810/cell/clusters/Cluster1/ejb/com/bnpparibas/tradefinance/ejb/facade/EjbFacadeHome".   I have built an object in Javascript on the Google Apps Script engine and every time I run my script I get a reference error saying uName is not defined.   I'm trying to do a debug build of the Rabbyt library using mingw's gcc to run with my MSVC built python26_d.. I got a lot of undefined references which caused me to create libpython26_d.a, however one of the undefined references remains.   I could swear this was working the other day: var resultSet = (from o in _entities.Table1 where o.Table2.Table3.SomeColumn == SomeProperty select o ).First(); SelectedItem = resultSet.Table2.SomeOtherColumn; I am getting a null reference exception on the last line: resultSet.Table2 is null. Not only am I sure that all the foreign keys and whatnot have the correct values, but I don't see how Table2 could be null, since o.Table2.Table3.SomeColumn == SomeProperty. resultSet is being returned with all its properties set to the correct values, with the exception that Table2 is null.

  Dear experts, I was trying to dynamically generate DOM elements using JS. I read from Douglas Crockford's book that DOM is very very poorly structured. Anyways, I would like to create a number of DIVISION elements and store the reference into an array so it could be accessed later. Here's the code for(i=0;i<3;i++){ var div=document.body.appendChild(document.createElement("div")); var arr=new Array(); arr.push(div); } Somehow this would not work..... There is only 1 div element created. When I use the arr.length to test the code there is only 1 element in the array. Is there another way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance

But now i want to separate all the UI in a separate class, accessible by other classes. I have added it as a child to the main/document class, but how do i reference the main class without going through parent.parent shananigans? edit. one more thing i remembered. Some of my UI elements are not programatically added.

  Hey all- I'm doing some performance-critical Python work and want to create a function that removes a few elements from a list if they meet certain criteria. I'd rather not create any copies of the list because it's filled with a lot of really large objects. Functionality I want to implement: def listCleanup(listOfElements): i = 0 for element in listOfElements: if(element.meetsCriteria()): del(listOfElements[i]) i += 1 return listOfElements myList = range(10000) myList = listCleanup(listOfElements) I'm not familiar with the low-level workings of Python. Is myList being passed by value or by reference? How can I make this faster? • Object reference error even when object is not null

  hi, i have an application wherein i have incorporate a "Remember Me" feature for the login screen. I do this by creating a cookie when the user logs in for the first time, so next time when the user visits the site i get the cookie and load the user information. i have written the code for loading user information in a common class in the App_Code folder...and all my pages inherit from this class. code for loading the user info is as follows: public static void LoadUserDetails(string emailId) { UsersEnt currentUser = UsersBL.LoadUserInfo(emailId); if (currentUser != null) HttpContext.Current.Session["CurrentUser"] = currentUser; } Now the problem is i get an "Object reference" error when i try to store the currentUser object in the session variable (even though the currentUser object is not null). However the password property in the currentUser object is null. Am i getting the error because of this...or is there some other reason?? thank you

• Log4Net and GAC - How to reference Configuraition Files?

  Hello all I am using log4net during my development, as as part of a project constraint, I now need to add it to the Global Assembly Cache. The logging definitions are in a file Log4Net.xml. That file is referenced in my assemblyinfo as: [assembly: log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator(ConfigFile = "Log4Net.xml", Watch = true)]. So long as the xml file was in the same directory as the log4net.dll, everything has been working fine. However now that I've added log4net to the GAC, it is no longer picking up the xml file. Does anyone know what I need to change in order to have it pick up the XML file again? Is hardcoding the patch in the assembly reference the only way? Many thanks

• Unique element ID to reference later

  I'm trying to figure out a method of storing a unique reference to each tag on a particular page. I won't have any ability to edit the page content and I'll the generated UID to stay the same on every page refresh. Since browsers don't generate any kind of UID for elements, I was thinking that the only method to do this would be to execute a script which walks the DOM and creates a UID for each it comes across. I don't know how accurate this will be, especially considering I'll need to ensure it creates the same UID for the tag each time the script crawls the page. Can anyone think of any other, more accurate ways of mapping a page? Many thanks.

  I simply create a movie clip, put it on the stage and give it an instance name of char. What else could it be?

  Hi, I'm unfamiliar to working in c++ under linux so I have some issues, one of them is that after I write a class and try to instantiate an object of that class I get to following error : "undefined reference to Constructor_of_that_class" . This happens for every class that I write , and it happens no matter where I try to do the instantiating, even if the code compiles without any problems . What is going wrong here and what I have to do to get over this error ? Because the project that I'm working wasn't created by me I suspect that it has to do something with some settings but I don't know which.

With svn, we used svn:externalsand that worked fine, since svn can reference subdirs (with relative paths too). However, we moved to git and it seems to not support checking out subdirs. Our solution now is to put project_a, project_b and shared all in different git repos, and use git submodules in project_a and project_b. However this seems much more complicated than one monolithic svn repo with svn:externals. What's the correct way to handle common elements in git?

  Hi, I have created a coded ui test that checks something in my software. It worked fine, but now I keep getting null reference exception when I try to interact with the UITestControl. The starnge thing is, that the UITestControl's 'Exist' property returns true, which means that the control had been found. I've searched and found this topic: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vsautotest/thread/c2e6e5c3-2503-4506-9963-733fd84fbd25, But I have checked in my project, and the 'Copy Local' propert of these assemblies is set to false. I think that this execption first occurred after I have added an app.config file to my project. Maybe this might be the problem? If so, how can I fix this without deleting my app.config file? • Reference platform specific System.Data.SQLite

  I am using SQLite for the unit testing and might use it as a database for local development/staging. The System.Data.SQLite has basically 2 versions: x86 and x64. Correct one should be used for the specific platform. I have 64 bit Win7, other guys in the team might use 32-bit OSs. The server's platform is not known at this stage. If I use 32-bit version of the assembly on 64-bit platform I get BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite'. I believe similar will happen trying to use 64-bit assembly on 32-bit platform. So my question is what is the best way to reference the SQLite assembly so that it does not depend on the platform and people can just use it? It is ok to use 32-bit version of assembly on a 64-bit platform (Maybe there is a switch for that somewhere?).

  I am trying to add another subview programmatically based on some event (user taps a button, for instance). My problem is that I am having problems referencing the (one and only) instance of UIWindow. I reach it from my appDelegate, because the MainWindow.xib and the appDelegate have been wired up. But I cannot reach the UIWIndow from anywhere else (I cannot draw that connection in IB, can I?)   What is Google map's spatial reference system using when you enter a lat, long into the maps search bar? I've found hints that it might be WGS84 but after converting to that coordinate system, nothing shows up when i paste the coordinates into the google maps search box. I am converting from GDA MGA 56. • SQL Server - Error when trying to reference a .mdf file

  Hi, For a NUnit test I need to reference a .mdf file from a .config file. Unfortunately, I get the following error message: The FOR ATTACH option requires that at least the primary file be specified. An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:\....\*.mdf A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. I looked for this error on google but didn't find anything that helped me solve my problem. Any idea? Thank you

• Third-party dll's in a website layout

  I have a solution with several projects and one website. The website uses some third-party dll's. I have to place the dll's in the bin folder under the website. This is the same bin where the dll's from the other projects get auto-loaded. Is there a way I can place the third-party dll's in a separate folder? If I 'Add Reference' to the dll when it is in a separate folder, VS always adds it to the GAC. If the separate folder is outside of the website layout, 'Add Reference' never works. My goal is have the bin folder only for auto-updated dll's, and a separate folder for third-party dll's. [This method works fine for the projects; just the website has issues]
