• Linux / apache web-server segmentation fault warnings

  Lately I have been receiving a lot of segmentation fault warnings on my web-server. The warnings look like: [notice] child pid xxxx exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I have consulted with the server provider (it is a dedicated redhat enterprise server) and they could not find anything. What I have done so far: Since the error I have already tried the following: I have added more ram I have turned off / turned on several php modules (they sent me to a web-page someone had the same problem, caused by an excessive amount of php modules) At the moments the warnings occur, there seems to be plenty of free ram left and the number of processes is very low (the number of httpd processes is about a quarter of the maximum allowed). What can be causing these errors? Edit: current versions apache: 2.0.52 php: 5.2.8 RHEL 4 Edit 2: Although I asked this a long time ago, I never was able to solve it until I upgraded to php 5.3.

NoProxy doesn't seem to work. (The reason I would like to do this is I have below global rules which create a 502 proxy loop if applied within this virtual host #pass all requests to application server ProxyPass /test http://localhost:8080/test ProxyPassReverse /test http://localhost:8080/test ) What I'm trying to do is, serve all static content (like css) using apache, while still proxying all the rest of requests to the application server.

  I'm trying to turn keep-alive connections off for a requests to a child folder in Apache, but when I reload the config I get the following error: KeepAlive not allowed here Here's my vhost config: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName example.com DocumentRoot /srv/www/mysite DirectoryIndex index.html <Location /subfolder> KeepAlive Off </Location> </VirtualHost> I've tried using <Directory> as well, but no go there either. • PHP script timed out, or otherwise killed on Apache under CentOS (shared host)

  When trying to run a PHP script (CentOS, Apache, PHP 5.2), that may take a long time, it is apparently killed after 45 minutes. PHP script is invoked from a web browser, and in certain situations, it will do a lot of work processing a POP3 mailbox and sending emails as part of an automated monitoring system. Running the PHP script from the command line might be a better option, but I want to understand what is going on so far. I ran a test script, and it appeared to finally give an internal server error (500?) after 45 minutes. Where is this limit set and what is killing the script, if that is what is happening? It's running on a shared host on Hostgator.com.

• MailMan error logging in Apache

  I am working on a MailMan implementation using Fedora 12. I have it set up and running but I was looking at what happens if someone tries to brute force a password on the web GUI and found that MailMan doesn't log these errors at all or I'm completely looking in the wrong place. I have tried both /var/log/httpd and /var/log/mailman and didn't see any authentication errors. I have also tried bumping up the Apache log level and still didn't see anything. I was wondering if there was a way to turn this type of logging on or if there was any other way to be notified about it. Thanks.

  Hello, I'm looking for the proper way to share the Coldfusion engine for all my Virtual Hosts. My question is, is there any way to share the same Coldfusion instance for every virtual host, mantaining the sites webroot outside of the cfusion folder?   I am using Apache Friends (XAMPP). I installed it under C: drive. Its path is C:\xampp\ Its default root is C:\xampp\htdocs.Thus, all programs need to reside in C:\xampp\htdocs\ so that we can run http://localhost/myapp/ PhpMyAdmin comes along with XAMPP, but it resides in C:\xampp\ and it can be run from /localhost/phpMyAdmin/. When my application is moved to C:\xampp\, I cannot run it /localhost/myapp. I would like to have two server root C:\xampp\ and C:\xampp\htdocs\ so that I can separate my private apps and public apps in different folders. And both can be run from http://localhost/ such as /localhost/myprivateapp/ and /localhost/mypublicapp/ How can I do that ? I'm on Windows XP.

The cxf-java2ws-plugin throws a ClassNotFoundException for org.springframework.core.NestedRuntimeException. • Fedora vs Ubuntu to host Subversion and Bugzilla over Apache

  I'm not interested in a flame war of Ubuntu vs Fedora vs whatever. What I am interested in is whether or not I should move my current Ubuntu server to Fedora. I have been able to get Subversion setup and hosted via Apache over https and it works quite well (I'm a .NET guy so this was all new to me). I'm having trouble though with installing Bugszilla - have run into some issues getting all the perl scripts to run successfully so my questions are: 1) Will Bugszilla will install easier on Fedora? Can I just install a package instead of having to download the tar.gz file and untar it, run perl scripts, etc. 2) Is Fedora considered to be a better production server system? I have no desire for a GUI, just need it to host Subversion, Bugzilla over Apache2, and act as a file and print server for my home network.

• DELETE method not working in Apache 2.4

  I'm running Apache 2.4 locally and dealing with RESTful services authenticating through OAuth. GET, PUT and POST work fine but I can't get DELETE to work. I've tried installing WebDAV and mod_dav, overriding methods in .htaccess, tried Limits, force (enable) DELETE options in configuration and pretty much everything I've found in Google and StackExchange. I am not sure where this page (server-info) should be ? in case of server-status, it's working fine

  I have a clean, fresh OS of Ubuntu 12.04 on my VPS. My goal is to install WordPress. I want to install the latest version of Apache (2.4.3) but I'm encountering two problems. I'm following instructions like this & this. Both produced the same errors. The first I encounter after running "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 --with-included-apr --with-included-apr-util " the system says "It must specify an install prefix, a build directory, or an apr-config file" The second I encounter immediately afterwards, when I attempt to run make or make install. "No targets specified and no makefile found. stop." I honestly have not been able to find a solution for either, and I'm now looking for some help from the community. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I am newbie with Apache's mod_rewrite and I'm having some difficulties getting it to do what I want. In my static directory, I have some javascript files (.js) with 2 kind of filename: xxxx.js which is the standard file name AT_xxxx.js (with prefixed filename) which has been duplicated from previous standard file name but also contains my customizations I would like to parse requests for each standard requested javascript file (xxxx.js) to check if a customized file exists (AT_xxxx.js) including all sub-directories. Then, in this case, use the custom file instead of the standard file (perhaps by internal redirect). I tried to figure this out for hours but something is still wrong. Note: Also, I don't know how to find custom files in sub-directories.   I have a working intranet server that: Properly serves some content from http://hqmktgwb01/ Is currently properly configured to reverse proxy from http://hqmktgwb01/dashstats to a round-robin of localhost:3000 - localhost:3003 Also has the DNS name dashstats (going to the same IP) The current working configuration file can be found here: http://pastie.org/1426082 I would like to modify the configuration so that:    4. http://dashstats/ performs the same reverse proxying http://hqmktgwb01/dashstats. I (naively) modified the config like this: http://pastie.org/1426047 (added lines 90-98) but this is not a valid Apache config. Please help me to modify the original config file to accomplish 1-4 above.

  i came across a apache httpd 2.2 configuration recently in which multiple ServerRoot-directives were defined, each followed by individual prefork Settings. Sort of like this: ServerRoot root1 <IfModule prefork.c> StartServers 5 MinSpareServers 5 MaxSpareServers 10 MaxClients 150 MaxRequestsPerChild 0 </IfModule> [vhost-configs] ServerRoot root2 <IfModule prefork.c> StartServers 10 MinSpareServers 10 MaxSpareServers 20 MaxClients 250 MaxRequestsPerChild 0 </IfModule> [vhost-configs] In my understanding these are global settings one overriding the other. But is that true and is it still true with the second ServerRoot directive between the prefork blocks? Thank you in advance EDIT They are not in different conditional blocks and both server roots are used in that way that files with relative paths to both are correctly included. I just wondered if a <ServerRoot> would initiate a new scope in which all global statements would not override the configuration of previous ones.

• Symfony2 on Windows with Apache, PHP and MySQL - app_dev.php will not load

  I am trying to get a Symfony2 standard distribution to work on my Windows 7 laptop. I have installed Apache2 (version 2.2.22), PHP 5.3.10 and MySQL 5.5.22. I have a demo PHP script (php_info() and a database call), and it works fine. I can get the start page (http://localhost/Symfony/web/config.php) to display, but I cannot get http://localhost/Symfony/web/app_dev.php/ to execute. The error returned is Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset. I can get it to work if I install XAMPP instead, but I don't want to use XAMPP. I want to be able to install and configure the components separately. Why isn't this working? Are there some Apache settings that I am missing?

• Site Isn't Enabled When Apache Restarted and No Error Message

  I have added a new sites-available file but the site isn't enabled when apache is restarted. All the existing sites continue to work fine. There is no error message in /var/log/apache2/error.log There is the message, in the error log showing that I shut down the server and restarted: caught SIGTERM, shutting down There is nothing fancy about the site. The only special thing is the name is: domain_name.tv I can't imagine why that would matter, but at this point I can't imagine why the site isn't enabled or at least an error message given. Server running Ubuntu 12.04.

• Apache whitelist a single location, but require basic auth for everything else

  I'm sure this is simple, but Google is not my friend this morning. The goal is: /public... is openly accessible everything else (including /) requires basic auth. This is a WSGI app, with a single WSGI script (it's a django site, if that matters..) I have this: <Location /public> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Location> <Directory /> AuthType Basic AuthName "My Test Server" AuthUserFile /path/to/.htpasswd Require valid-user </Directory> With this configuration, basic auth works fine, but the Location directive is totally ignored. I'm not surprised, as according to this (see How the Sections are Merged), the Directory directive is processed first. I'm sure I'm missing something, but since Directory applies to a filesystem location, and I really only have the one Directory at /, and it's a Location that I wish to allow access to, but Directory always overrides Location... EDIT I'm using Apache 2.2, which doesn't support AuthType None.
