  • How to create contexts in shoulda macros

    - by Honza
Asking this question again with smaller code sample: # this is a dummy shoulda macro that creates a context def self.macro_context context "macro" do yield end end # i am expecting this test to fail within the macro context context "some context" do macro_context do should "test" do fail end end end So what I would expect is to see: 1) Error: test: some context macro context should test. • How to create a fully lazy singleton for generics

    - by Brendan Vogt
I have the following code implementation of my generic singleton provider: public sealed class Singleton<T> where T : class, new() { Singleton() { } public static T Instance { get { return SingletonCreator.instance; } } class SingletonCreator { static SingletonCreator() { } internal static readonly T instance = new T(); } } This sample was taken from 2 articles and I merged the code to get me what I wanted: http://www.yoda.arachsys.com/csharp/singleton.html and http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/11111/Generic-Singleton-Provider. This is how I tried to use the code above: public class MyClass { public static IMyInterface Initialize() { if (Singleton<IMyInterface>.Instance == null // Error 1 { Singleton<IMyInterface>.Instance = CreateEngineInstance(); // Error 2 Singleton<IMyInterface>.Instance.Initialize(); } return Singleton<IMyInterface>.Instance; } } And the interface: public interface IMyInterface { } The error at Error 1 is: 'MyProject.IMyInterace' must be a non-abstract type with a public parameterless constructor in order to use it as parameter 'T' in the generic type or method 'MyProject.Singleton<T>' The error at Error 2 is: Property or indexer 'MyProject.Singleton<MyProject.IMyInterface>.Instance' cannot be assigned to -- it is read only How can I fix this so that it is in line with the 2 articles mentioned above? Any other ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

  • Multiple Grails Applications create Ehcache conflicts

    - by Lloyd Meinholz
I am running multiple Grails Applications on one of my servers. I am using Grails 1.2.2. I am using the default cache configuration in DataSource.groovy. When I try and run two Grails applications, they both seem to be using/writing to: /tmp/org.hibernate.cache.UpdateTimestampsCache.data When I look at how to customize Ehcache with an ehcache.xml file from this page: http://ehcache.org/documentation/grails.html I do not see any information about specifying the locations and/or names or temporary files. How do I avoid this issue when running multiple Grails applications on the same server (without turning off the cache)?

  • Create link on page w/ web address stored in database

    - by RememberME
This seems like it should be easy, but I can't seem to figure it out. All of my google searches lead me to linking to databases which isn't what I want to do. I'm a complete web development newb. I've roughly followed the NerdDinner tutorial in creating my web app. One of my stored fields is a web address. On the Index and Details pages, when I display the info from my record, I want the web address to be a clickable link to the website. It's currently displayed as: <%= Html.Encode(Model.Subcontract.company1.website) %>

  • Libraries/Solutions for using XSL to create interactive web forms from XML

    - by Brabster
This seems like a pretty straightforward thing to do, but I can't find anything off the open-source shelf. Is there a solution already out there that does the following: can be configured with an arbitrary XSL stylesheet generates a web form based on an arbitrary XML document and the XSL creates edit functionality in appropriate places in the rendered form updates the local representation of the XML document provides capabilities to view, save the new XML document Ideally, one that plugs into a Java web application. Even better if it can generate the XSL based on schema documents - but that might not be feasible, not really thought it through. For context, I'm thinking things like pleasant-for-humans editing of Maven POMs, ANT build.xml, etc. Cheers,

  • I want to create an Android App that checks a website like Woot

    - by tim
Im new to android and thought it would be fun to develop an app that goes out and checks woot.com. The idea I came up with is for the app to be a widget that refresh woot.com once a day and displays a picture of the item and price. If the widget is clicked on it would open the browser to woot.com. In theory this seems like it would be easy but Im having trouble figuring out where to begin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim

  • How To Create a Custom List of ProgressBars in .Net 2.0

    - by user205077
I have created a progress bar custom control and would like to embed this into a list which can be sorted and placed on a windows form using .Net 2.0. What is the best approach for this? Is it possible to just add it to a ListView as a subitem? Is there a better way to achieve this? I want it to be as lightweight as possible.

  • How can I create a properly sizing QWebView?

    - by chacham15
I want to make a QWebView appear expanding to the width and height so that ideally it will have no scroll bars. Some websites may have fixed widths that wont allow this, but I am not concerned with those. In any case, I cannot do as I wish because QWebView implements sizeHint as follows: QSize QWebView::sizeHint() const { return QSize(800, 600); // ####... } This is incorrect on a number of levels. 1. It doesnt at all take into account the size of the actual web page. 2. It doesnt take into account that the height and width are related to each other. (To prove #2 think about text in web pages that wraps to the next line.) As a simple fix I tried to do (where QResizingWebView extends QWebView): QSize QResizingWebView::sizeHint() const{ return this-page()-mainFrame()-contentsSize(); } While this is closer to the result, it also has 2 flaws. 1. It doesnt take into account the relation between the displayed width/height. 2. this->page()->mainFrame()->contentsSize() is inaccurate from what I can tell from my preliminary testing (it has returned heights larger than it should under many cases, although this may be related to #1). Does anyone have any tips to fix this?

  • How to create dynamic menulets in OSX

    - by taw
I want to put a dynamically generated icon (not static image) + possibly a tiny bit of text in OSX menu bar. If possible I'd prefer to do it from Ruby or some other convenient scripting language, but I'll deal with Objective C if that's the only way. How do I do that?

  • Create an upload form, select a folder and get a specific file in folder

    - by aladine
Hi, To upload a single file, it is very simple to use this HTML script: <p> <input type="file" name="input.txt" /> In this question, my task is to select a folder and then get the input.txt inside that folder. The server will response whether input.txt is available or not and to upload it to web server. Is there any way to select a folder instead selecting a file in the input form. Thanks.

  • How do I create regex groups for replacement?

    - by resting
I have this sample string: Image: SGD$45.32 SKU: 3f3f3 dfdfd grg4t BP 6yhf Pack Size: 1000's Color: Green Price: SGD$45.32 SGD$45... I would like to remove all the prices namely: SGD$45.32 Price: SGD$45.32 SGD$45 I have this expression thats supposed to match the 3 groups: $pattern = '/(Price.+\sSGD\$\d+\.\d{2})(SGD\$\d+\.\d{2})(SGD\$\d+)/'; $new_snippet = preg_replace($pattern, '', $snippet);` But apparently its not working. It works if I replace a single group at a time. But, I'd like to know if it possible to replace all possible matching groups with a single statement. Tried preg_match_all($pattern, $snippet, $matches); to show matches based on the above pattern, but no matches are found if I put all 3 groups together.

  • Best way to create a preview functionality in rails

    - by slythic
Hi all, I'm looking to implement a preview functionality in my posts scaffold. All I need to do is allow a user to enter information in the new view (/posts/new) and then replace the submit button with a preview button. Once the preview button is clicked, the user is routed to the preview page (probably /posts/new/preview). If the user wants to make a change they would click 'go back' or if they are happy with the post they can then submit the post. I found this article (http://eyedeal.team88.org/node/105) but it seems dated. Any ideas on what the best approach for this would be? Many thanks, Tony
