    Im using Wordpress, Im also creating posts via XMLRPC based on an RSS feed that is added to periodically. What I want is to read all post titles, compare those against the RSS feed, then only post to Wordpress where the post titles dont exist. I'm trying this code: <?php define('WP_USE_THEMES', false); require('../wp-load.php'); query_posts('showposts=-1&author=1&post_status=publish'); ?> <?php while (have_posts()): the_post(); ?> <?php the_title(); ?> <?php endwhile; ?> This gets all titles from published posts, I then need to do the same to get the draft posts.   • How to create a 'Hot or Not' website

    Hi guys, I'd like to create a website with similar concept as 'Hot or Not' where users need to sign up to the website and then upload photos. Each photo can be given a description and some additional fields. Other users may comment and rate the photo entries. On top of that, users may favourite/bookmark (and remove) any photo entries and they're accessible via their profile page That's generally how the website will be. Can't decide on a CMS to use Somehow I'm at a crossroad here. I've done some research and found that Joomla has an extension that is able to pull this website off but the thing is I'm not that comfortable with using Joomla. I work with WordPress most of the time, but I can't seem to figure out how would I build this website with WordPress. Would using BuddyPress make it work? Would hiring a plugin developer to customize some plugins work? What do you guys think?

    Hello I am using MOSS with ADS. I want to display Terms of Use page before the user can login into SharePoint with two button i.e. "Accept","Decline". If user select "Accept" he will be directed to sharepoint site, if not to our companies intranet front page. This will be applicable for the current session. ie. If the user has signed off, then it should prompt the terms of use again when user hits the MOSS site but once accepted user should not get this page again until he/she signs off. Please advise.     Hello html body .home blog logged-in div #wrapper div #page div .cats I have a problem with selecting unordered lists (i.e ul li.class-name class-name-number) at the above dom location in CSS. I am working with a wordpress theme. Basically could I have suggestions for the correct selector to use in order to influence this tag? I can provide a simplified html structure if it will help. I've tried a number of selectors along the lines of: (sometimes)#page (# or .)cats (sometimes)ul li(sometimes with class name) EDIT: I've tried the selectors suggested in the wordpress docs. Thanks!

    I have 3 classes in WordPress (the question itself is unrelated to it): class WP_Widget class Theme_Widget extends WP_Widget class Specific_Widget extends Theme_Widget Essentially Theme_Widget contains some extension functions to the basic WP_Widget. Inside Specific_Widget I call one of Theme_Widget's methods: class Specific_Widget { function __construct() { $this->some_method_that_belongs_to_Theme_Widget(); } } When I instantiate Specific_Widget, PHP throws a fatal error as follows: Fatal error: Call to private method Theme_Widget::some_method_that_belongs_to_Theme_Widget() from context 'Specific_Widget' in ... Do you have an idea as to how I can resolve this? This is the first time I've received this error from PHP. Could it be derive from WordPress itself?

    I built many a website, and my own 'custom' framework is just a general box of scripts cobbled together with loose ideas. I would love to progress to a framework which allows me to pass it onto the client for freedom. Someone suggested using wordpress but I'm not sure how general this can be. A current site I need to build is a fancy kitchen company, price lists, flash gallery (with backend driven pics) and well designed home. How could I bend the the will of wordpress?   • PODS + WP Theme

    So I managed to setup pods and create my custom tables. Now I want to revamp my theme so that it pulls data from the POD table. Doesn't seem to be working... This is what I did.. I have a Pod called 'project_type' with a name (string) and a code (string) field. Have also added 3 entries via the admin system. I made a copy of the default wordpress plugin and renamed it to myTheme and activated it. Inside index.php of myTheme, I removed all the default code.. and have just the POD specific code as shown below. <?php echo "Hello World"; $p = new Pod('project_type'); echo $p->getTotalRows(); ?> However, when I reload my page, only Hello World shows up? A bit new to Wordpress so kindly advice.

  • Is there a script that can dynamically list the contents of a folder?

    I am redesigning my company's intranet site in Wordpress and one of the things they need is an archive of company memos. There are over 300 memos saved in one location and I'm wondering if there is a jQuery script that I can run that will read the contents of a local (network) folder and auto-generate a list of the contents of that folder dynamically (and generate those names as a hyperlink to that file, but if I can list the files, I can get include the hyperlink tag myself). I can always manually create the list of hyperlinks (would take a couple days to do so) but if I can generate it dynamically, whenever a new memo is added, the script will automatically include it making the site much easier to maintain. Is this at all possible? I know that this can probably be done in PHP, but the page I need to do this on is not a php page, it is one of the subpages that is created in wordpress that does not have a php file extension and can't run php code (that I know of) Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

  • Is there a way to test my nonce validation fails when it should?

    I'm using nonce validation in a wordpress plugin. When I submit the form from the admin menu it processes correctly, so I believe the nonce validation is working. What I'm not sure is if the validation will fail when it is supposed to and I don't know what the best way to test this is. I tried putting the url for the php file in directly, but all it does it take me to a wordpress not found page. Is there some recommended way to test this? Here is my code.   • File upload with tdo-miniforms not working

    I am using the TDO-miniforms plugin for wordpress. I have a form set up that lets the user submit files. The files are successfully uploaded to the tmp-folder, but once the post is created they are not copied into the allocated post folder. The only thing that is created in the folder with a post id is a file called array. It seems like the file holds the binary data of the uploaded files. The “correct” urls are appended to the post content I am running wordpress 2.9.2 on snow leopard using Mamp.

  • Navigating between pages in a Facebook Platform iframe application

    I'm working on a Facebook Platform application that runs in iframe mode, and I'm having trouble understanding how to navigate between pages within the app. Let's say the first page that is loaded within the iframe at my canvas URL is one.html. Within that page, there is a link to two.html that just changes the source of the iframe and doesn't reload the Facebook chrome. When I do this, all the Facebook fb_sig_* query string parameters that Facebook passes to the original page aren't included, and so two.html has no awareness of the connection to Facebook and no ability to make API calls to generate the content for the page. One possible solution would be to manually extract all the Facebook parameters from one.html and append it to the link to two.html myself. This seems really ugly and I figured there had to be a cleaner way. For reference, my application is written in Perl and uses the WWW::Facebook::API module as a client library. I didn't see anything in it that I can use to easily reconstruct the Facebook parameters for use with links in iframe apps. Another possible solution would be to store all the Facebook parameters in a session on my server on the first page load, and just use the values in that session on subsequent page views. But what happens if the data I've stored no longer matches what Facebook would have sent if it were a completely new request (i.e. something in the user's Facebook session changed)? Is there something obvious I'm missing? What is the standard approach to navigating between pages within an iframe app? Facebook's documentation is atrocious and I haven't been able to find anything that clearly explains how this works. I also realize this wouldn't be an issue with an app using FBML instead of an iframe, but my understanding is that iframe apps are now encouraged over FBML apps, though again this seems ambiguous since so much of Facebook's documentation is outdated and contradictory.

    Django's internationalization is very nice (gettext based, LocaleMiddleware), but what is the proper way to translate the model name and the attributes for admin pages? I did not find anything about this in the documentation: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/i18n/internationalization/ http://www.djangobook.com/en/2.0/chapter19/ I would like to have "???????? ????? ??? ?????????" instead of "???????? order ??? ?????????". Note, the 'order' is not translated. First, I defined a model, activated USE_I18N = True in settings.py, run django-admin makemessages -l ru. No entries are created by default for model names and attributes. Grepping in the Django source code I found: $ ack "Select %s to change" contrib/admin/views/main.py 70: self.title = (self.is_popup and ugettext('Select %s') % force_unicode(self.opts.verbose_name) or ugettext('Select %s to change') % force_unicode(self.opts.verbose_name)) So the verbose_name meta property seems to play some role here. Tried to use it: class Order(models.Model): subject = models.CharField(max_length=150) description = models.TextField() class Meta: verbose_name = _('order') Now the updated po file contains msgid 'order' that can be translated. So I put the translation in. Unfortunately running the admin pages show the same mix of "???????? order ??? ?????????". I'm currently using Django 1.1.1. Could somebody point me to the relevant documentation? Because google can not. ;-) In the mean time I'll dig deeper into the django source code...

  • Remove "Flash" between pages while using Internet Explorer modal boxes

    I have an internal web application, that is IE specific, and uses a lot of IE specific modal boxes: (window.showModalDialog). I recently received a request to remove the "flash" when navigating between pages of the site. To accomplish this, I just added a meta transition tag to my master page: <meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="blendTrans(duration=0.0)" /> This works perfectly except for the modal boxes. When you launch a modal box, and then move it around, the web page behind it keeps a trail of the modal box instead of re-drawing the web page content. This prevents the user from moving the modal box to read anything that was behind it. Is there a way to prevent the "flash" between pages in an IE specific site and have the site still work with modal boxes? Please note, this is a large and complex site, so re-architecting it to not use modal boxes isn't an option.   • User Control not loading based on location

    I have an ASP.net MVC solution that uses nested master pages to load content. On the first Master page I load a header, then have the Content Placeholder, and then load a footer. This master page is referenced by another master page which adds some additional information based on the user being logged in or not. When I load a page that references these master pages, the header loads, but the footer does not. If I move the footer up above the Content Place Holder it loads into the page. Any ideas why this might be the case?     I am building a new site which will consist of a mix of dynamic and static pages. I would like to add commenting functionality to those pages with as little work as possible. I'm curious as to whether such a solution exists in PHP. The ideal set of features would be: Completely independent from the surrounding page / site: PHP code gets dropped into page, a page ID is added, done. Simple "write a comment" form Comments for each page are displayed using a PHP function Nice, clean output of <ul><li>.... that can be styled by the surrounding site Optional Captcha Optional Gravatar sensitivity Minimalistic administration area to moderate/delete comments, no ACL, can protect it using .htaccess The ideal integreation would be like this: <?php show_comments("my_page_name"); ?> this would 1. display a form to add a new comment that gets automatically associtated with my_page_name; and 2. display all comments that were made through this form using this ID. Does anybody know a solution like this? Bounty I am setting up a bounty because while there were some good suggestions, they all point to external services. I'm really curious to see whether there isn't anything self-hosted around. If this doesn't exist yet, it sure would be great to see as an Open Source project.

  • Some web pages (especially Apple documentation) cause heavy CPU usage in Windows IE8

    Maybe this belongs in Server Fault instead, but some of you may have noticed this issue (particularly those developing on Mac, using a Windows machine to read the reference material). I posted the same question on a Microsoft forum and got one answer from someone who reproduced the problem, so it's not just my machine. No solution yet. Ever since this month's security updates, I find that many web pages cause the CPU to run at maximum for as long as the web page is visible. This happens in both IE7 and IE8 on at least three different computers (two with Windows XP, one with Vista). Here is one of the pages, running on XP with IE 8: http://learning2code.blogspot.com/2007/11/update-using-subversion-with-xcode-3.html Here is one that does it in Vista with IE8: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/Cocoa/Reference/Foundation/Classes/NSString_Class/Reference/NSString.html You can leave the page open for hours and the CPU is still at high usage. This doesn't happen every time. It is not always reproduceable. Sometimes it is OK the second or third time it loads. In IE7 the high usage is in ieframe.dll, version 7.0.6000.16890. In IE8 the high usage is in iertutil.dll, version 8.0.6001.18806.
