  What's the easiest way to compute a 3x3 matrix inverse? I'm just looking for a short code snippet that'll do the trick for non-singular matrices, possibly using Cramer's rule. It doesn't need to be highly optimized. I'd prefer simplicity over speed. I'd rather not link in additional libraries.   I've got a rather strange problem. For a Distributed Hash Table I need to be able to do some simple math operations on MD5 hashes. These include a sum (numeric sum represented by the hash) and a modulo operation. Now I'm wondering what the best way to implement these operations is. I'm using hashlib to calculate the hashes, but since the hashes I get are then string, how do I calculate with them?

  Hi! Flash/Actionscript 3 lack the possibility to "draw" text to a displayobject graphics - a textfield has to be created, added and set. This is rather clumsy and time consuming. The problematic areas include array notation like this: $small[$end[$i]{0}] I think the idea is to append "0" to the value of $end[$i] and use that for the index of $small.   I have a web app that currently is inserting x (between 1 + 40) records into a table that contains about 5 fields, via a linq-2-sql-stored procedure in a loop. Would it be better to manually write the SQL Inserts to say a string builder and run them against the database when the loops completed rather than 30 transactions? or should I just accept this is negligible for such a small number of inserts.

  this may be more appropriate for math overflow, but nevertheless: Given 3d structure (for example molecule), what is a good approach/algorithm to find symmetry (rotational/reflection/inversion/etc.)? I came up with brute force naive algorithm, but it seems there should be better approach.   Is it possible to make JSP pages not set any content type on response? In my setup, JSP doesn't directly generate the response, but rather an intermediate presentation, which is then processed by additional Java code that creates HTML or JSON based on that. So, can I somehow make JSP not set content-type on the response and leave it to the intermediate code? If I just remove contentType="..." in a JSP, it still defaults to text/html.
