  In my web application VS 2008 solution, I have the AjaxControlToolkit.dll in my bin directory and a whole set of language directories for it (ar, cs, de,es, fr, he, etc...) I don't remember how the language directories got in there. If I am using other languages via the ACT, do I need these directories? If not, then I don't? When I do a rebuild solution, the dll (AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll) in these directories disappear. If I need them, what do I need to do to keep them from being deleted during a rebuild?

  I have this patch code which i downloaded from a web article (Calling Matlab from Java). http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~whitehouse/matlab/JavaMatlab.html But I donot know how to apply it in my windowsXp running computer. What I'm trying to do is call Matlab script file from java. I have found the necessary source codes and every thing but this mater is holding be back. Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you. • Problem including dynamic image in Eclipse BIRT 2.5.0 report on Windows

  I have a BIRT 2.5.0 report design with a dynamic image (URL is specified through report parameter, image formats tried - .png, .bmp). When running the report from our application on Ubuntu, everything renders OK. When doing exactly the same thing on Windows, there's following message instead of the actual image: Current report item is not supported in this report format. Same problem occurs when including image with a fixed URL - even though the image is displayed and loaded in the Report Designer, it's not rendered in report generated from our application. Again, this happens only on Windows. The only way I managed to get the image into a rendered report was through embedding it into the report design file, which is not suitable as the image has to be dynamic.

• PreApplicationStartMethod Attribute causes exception

  Strange thing happening to me with the PreApplicationStartMethod Attribute. I did implement it in my latest project. In the AssemblyInfo.cs I have the following line: [assembly: PreApplicationStartMethod(typeof(MyAssembly.Initializer), "Initialize")] The Type and method look like this: namespace MyAssembly { public static class Initializer { public static void Initialize() { TranslationKeys.Initialize(); } } } When I rebuild my application and load it in the browser I get the following error: The method specified by the PreApplicationStartMethodAttribute on assembly 'MyWebApp, Version=0.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' cannot be resolved. Type: 'MyAssembly.Initializer', MethodName: 'Initialize'. Verify that the type is public and the method is public and static (Shared in Visual Basic). I really have no idea what the problem is.

• Issues with dynamically loading modules in code with Silverlight/Prism

  In my Bootstrapper.cs in GetModuleCatalog, I need to specify the Module types using the typeof(ModuleType). In the example below I'm trying to load the Contact module on demand, but in order to get it into my module catalog, I need to have a reference to it in the project that holds my Bootstrapper. When I add a reference to Contact, then the Contact.dll gets added to the initial xap file, which defeats the purpose of loading the module dynamically. Am I missing something? Do you have to load the module catalog from a file to make this work? var catalog = new ModuleCatalog(); catalog.AddModule(typeof(Core)); catalog.AddModule(typeof(Contact), InitializationMode.OnDemand);

  Hi! I'am developing application on app-engine-path. I would like to make form with multichoice (acceptably languages for user). Code look like this: Language settings: settings.LANGUAGES = ((u"cs", u"Ceština"), (u"en", u"English")) Form model: class UserForm(forms.ModelForm): first_name = forms.CharField(max_length=100) last_name = forms.CharField(max_length=100) languages = forms.MultipleChoiceField(widget=forms.CheckboxSelectMultiple, choices=settings.LANGUAGES) The form is rendered o.k. (all languages have checkbox. IDs, NAMEs is ok.) But if I save some languages for user, those languages don't check checkboxes. • Where is the Bonjour COM library?

  I've downloaded and installed the Bonjour SDK for Windows on my Win7 64bit machine. I've tried to build both of the the projects in C:\Program Files\Bonjour SDK\Samples\CS. However they both reference Bonjour, causing me to get the following build error 'Cannot load type library for reference "Bonjour". Library not registered.' Bonjour appears to be installed properly as I can run the Bonjour Printer Wizard and it appears to work properly. Any idea why Visual Studio can't find the Library? I'm using Visual Studio 2008 by the way.

  Hello, I am using wpf and its C sharp! I have this in my Animal.cs clas private string _animalName; public string AnimalName { get { return _animalName; } set { if(_animalName!= value) { _animalName= value; this.NotifyPropertyChanged("AnimalName"); } } } I could also write: public string AnimalName {get;set;} There is no difference in binding and validation. Everythings works as before when I exchange the code. Is this due to the fact that I only create new animals but I do not allow to update the animals name in my application ? So I need to call the propertyChanged("AnimalName"); only when I want to change its property value? I am a c# beginner ;)

  Hi,I've just completed my freshman year in college and am majoring in EE (with a lot of interest in CS as well) . I know some Python,C/C++ and Java and also a little bit of Actionscript . I am planning to learn either Haskell or Ruby on Rails. Haskell because it is a functional programming language, and I've been really impressed by this paradigm and Ruby on Rails , as I don't know any 'web' programming language and have heard that you can develop apps in RoR very easily and quickly . Which one should I learn ? and please suggest some links / books for starting off .

• Sharing a custom datasource between Winforms and Webforms

  Hello, I'd like to create a custom datasource that is shared between a Winforms and Webforms project. This functions as a middle layer for a reporting tool(DevExpress Reporting). The Webforms project is a designer for these reports. So we want for the reports to be capable of going to the server to get data and such. So our datasource would abstract away all the communication overhead. Then, for consistency, the datasource would also run on the server for reporting, except for their would be no communication. What would be the best course of action? There doesn't seem to be such a thing as a DataSource in Winforms. Is DataSource not the thing I'm looking for? Edit: After some research, it appears that IDataAdapter may be good for my purpose. Any opinion on that?

  I am trying to understand on the design requirements for using Queue, and could not find this question (with answer). My understanding: Queue means one-to-one. Thus it would be used in a special case (if not rare, very few cases) when a designer is sure that the message would be intended for only one consumer. But even in those cases, I may want to use Topic (just to be future safe). The only extra case I would have to do is to make (each) subscription durable. Or, I special situations, I would use bridging / dispatcher mechanism. Give above, I would always (or in most cases) want to publish to a topic. Subscriber can be either durable topic(s) or dispatched queue(s). Please let me know what I am missing here or I am missing the original intent?

• is it possible to achieve an image clipping/masking effect with html + css3?

  Hi - I'm trying to place a nice border around an image that's 250x250, using only html and css. The markup is this: <div id="img-container"><img src="pic.jpg" border="0"/></div> And the css is: #img-container { height: 225px; width: 225px; padding: 3px; border: 1px solid black; z-index: 10; position: relative; overflow: hidden; border-radius: 10px; } #img-container img { z-index: 5; } Basically, I want the div container to clip the picture's edges that exceed its boundaries. This will achieve the rounded edges effect using the border-radius property (-moz-border-radius, -webkit-border-radius, etc) - if it actually works or could even be done. Looking for tips and tricks on this. Thanks. And, yes, I'm obviously not a web designer :)

• Need advice on organizing two WPF applications within one Visual Studio solution

  I have a WPF application (KaleidoscopeApplication) organized as follows: Solution (6 projects) Cryptography (DLL) Rfid (DLL) KaleidoscopeApplication (buildable "startup project") Basically, KaleidoscopeApplication contains a bunch of resources (sounds, images, etc) and your standard WPF junk (App.xaml, App.xaml.cs, other xaml and code). I need to create a new application that is very similar to Kaleidoscope, but I'm not sure of the best way to organize. This new app will need access to much of the same code and resources as Kaleidoscope. Preferably, I would like to create a new project in the solution, then simply use the "set as startup project" to pick which app I want to build. However, will I be able to access (share) the Resources folder of Kaleidoscope? I know I will be able to access much of the code if I simply add a reference to the project and include a "using Kaleidoscope". But the resources I'm not so sure about. Is this the right way to organize or am I asking for trouble in the future? Thanks in advance!

• Silverlight project builds in VS2008 but fails when using MSBuild

  Hi, We have 2 Silverlight projects in the same solution; SLGlobalResource and SLData. SLData references SLGlobalResource (using references add reference projects). When we build it in debug within VS2008, everything builds fine and all is good. But when we build it using: msbuild TheSolution.sln /p:Configuration=Debug /t:rebuild SLData fails with the following error: ViewModels\ImportViewModel.cs : error CS0246: The type of name space "SLGlobalResource" could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This also happens in TeamCity (I guess because the TeamCity vs2008 runner uses MSBuild) Any ideas? Thanks Edit: There are actually 33 projects in total in the solution. I didn't think this was relevant before but now I'm thinking it could be - could this be a build order thing?

  I'm trying to use the EWS API to access an Exchange server from a console program i'm writing. I've specified the type of exchange server i'm connecting to but when I try to execute the code i have, it gives me Error 1 The type 'System.TimeZoneInfo' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. C:\Documents and Settings\jsorensen\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\ConsoleApplication2\ConsoleApplication2\Program.cs 26 13 ConsoleApplication2 Does Microsoft Visual Studio Academic Edition not support TimeZoneInfo or is the version of .Net that XP can have not up-to date enough to work with the EWS API?   I have a fairly large CSS file developed by my web designer. There are, of course, plenty of IDs, classes and tag properties assigned therein. Are there any tools to automatically generate HTML based on a CSS source file? For example: #basicInfoHead{ background:url(../images/leftHeaders.jpg) no-repeat; margin-left: 0px; width:185px; height:28px; } #basicInfoHead span{ float: left; } Would generate <div id=basicInfoHead><span>#basicInfoHead span</span></div> Etc etc. From there, I could preview the generated code in my browser, and see what each of the individual (primarily text) styles would look like. • Forcing a page to load itself in another page's iframe

  I'm a fairly inexperienced web designer learning css/html on the fly for a company's web site. I want to keep menus, banners, etc in one document so I don't have to repeat updates across many documents. My solution was to make an index.aspx file with the menus and headers, then have a simple iframe for content. This works quite well and updates easily. the format is: www.site.com/index.aspx?page=page1.htm www.site.com/index.aspx?page=page2.htm The problem -- Google is indexing my iframe'd pages and linking to them directly: www.site.com/page1.htm www.site.com/page2.htm How can I set up redirects to page1.htm forwards to index.aspx?page=page1.htm without creating a "hall of mirrors" effect inside the original iframe?

  I want to connect to a remote desktop connection to a specified server/username from c#. I don't want to download this dll from anywhere as I'm not sure if I can trust it. However it also says: "After research on the web I found that I have to create new AxMSTSCLib and MSTSCLib DLLs. So I did" How do I "create" this new AxMSTSCLib ? Other link, doesn't use this dll but run an script instead. http://bytes.com/topic/c-sharp/answers/517024-remote-desktop-connection-c but that code throws Security Exception. So I cannot use it.

  Hey everyone, I have a dillema where our client relations department has been brought in for advice on UI and I vehemently disagree with it...even though I don't consider myself a designer at all. While I have been vocal about my disagreement about it, I've been asked to point to design standards to prove that what I'm saying is correct and that the guys in Client Relations are flat out wrong. A mockup is below, I'm trying to argue that the icons of the airplane, boat, and couch (ya, I didn't choose those either) belong in the header of the page (same area as the logo) and not in the content area of the page.   I am using Delphi Prism to connect to an Advantage Database Server. I created a connection using the server explorer to the database. I added a dataset object to my project and added a table to the dataset. Everything works fine in the IDE, however, I get an error in the generated designer code on the table adapter constructor. • Git How do I Push a project, that was Downloaded from Source

  I worked with a graphic designer that did not clone from my github account. He downloaded the project from source rather than using the command "git clone". Since he pulled his files, a month has gone by and I want to do the following tasks: Create a new branch Push the graphic designers project into that branch Merge his branch with Master I've tried the following the github forking guide with not much luck; when I attempt to push the files into a new branch I get an error: fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git How do I do this?
