    I have a Java SWT GUI with a multiline Text control. I want to append lines of text to the Text control without affecting the position of the cursor within the text box. In particular, the user should be able to scroll and select text at the top of the Text control while new text lines are appended to the bottom. Is this possible?

    Im working now on simple gui appllication in Java/C++ and CORBA. I want my client on VirtualBox connect to server on localhost. When I have a simple app, like a calc I wrote about earlier its just fine. But when it comes to run client which needs some args witch javas -cp option, Im getting errors. (Theres no such problem when I have both client and server in localhost!)   • Can one Python project use both 2.x and 3.x code?

    Hi all - I'm going to start on a long (~1-year) programming project in Python. I want to use wxPython for my GUI (supports 2.6), but I also want to use 3.1 for the rest of the project (to start using the 3.x syntax). Is there any way for me to design a project that mixes 2.x and 3.x modules? Or should I just bite the bullet and use either 2.x (preferred, since I really want to learn wxPython) or 3.x throughout? We are using custom GUI text i/o components inherited from Component class using e.g. Drawstring, how well is arabic supported within Component class ? The keyboard input is done with KeyListener getKeyChar, getKeyCode etc.

    I am trying to install an svn client on a friend's work windows laptop without much success. It seems that everyone is using TortoiseSVN nowadays, which unfortunately doesn't install without administrator access. Is there any way around it or another client I can try?     I am trying to make a regex that finds all names, url and phone numbers in an html page. But I'm having trouble with the phone number part. I think the problem with the numbers part is that is searches until it finds the </strong> but in that process it skips people, instead of making a empty string if the person has no phone number ( simply put instead of a list like this: url1+name1+num1 | url2+name2+"" | url3+name3+num3 it returns a list like this: url1+name1+num1 | url2+name2+num3 , with url3+name3 deleted in the process) for url, name, pnumber in re.findall('Name"><div>(?:<a href="/si([^">]*)"> )?([^<]*)(?:.*?</strong>([^<]*))?',page): I am searchin for people in s single very long line.   • Automated regression tests for java applets?

    We're working on a project with a number of applets that has to work across a large range of OS (WIndows, Mac, Linux), browsers (IE, FF, Safari, etc) and Java versions (1.5+), and it often happens that a fix we apply will cause some sort of security exception an another platform or some other error. Is there any way for us to prepare automated tests to immediately catch those problems in different platforms? I think it's not necessary to check that the gui parts are appearing as intended, but just to detect whether unexpected exceptions are occuring.
