  • Change the default output folder for a java command when executed by php

    I am trying to run a java command like this in a PHP Joomla Component. It works, however, the files generated from the command are written to /administrator and I want them to be written to the location where the Java command resides ie. /administrator/com_mycomponent/java/MyJavaApp.jar //run the command $javaCommand = "$javaCommand -jar $keyGeneratorFile $appName"; $response = exec($javaCommand); if(empty($response)) { JError::raiseError(500, "Key Generation failed for command: $javaCommand"); } What can I do? Is there some sort of option I can use with the java command?

  • Analog of Java Form Layout in Qt

    Once I have programmed GUI with Java and have used Form Layouts. Form layout (if I am not mistaken that is from SWT library) made possible to give right, left, top and bottom adges of any GUI element (widget) with respect to other widgets in the same widget (parent widget) or with respect to the adges of parent widget. So it was possible to control the future of widgets that are inside of another one, when that "another widget" is being resized. In Qt I have find the QFormLayout which is similar to Java one, but seems I can't handle with widgets as flexible in terms of relative positioning, as it was with Java's Form Layout. So are there any other means to give a widget position with respect to the others (without overloading resizeEvent function) as that was in Java? Thanks.

Running a Java application normally gives 'c:/documents and settings/user/local settings/temp' instead.     hello java guys, im thinking of a simple java app (command line) that connects to the internet to download xml file, the problem is that my ubuntu is using a proxy to connect to internet with username and password (tru http_proxy ="http://:@:" ). So My question is, could it be possible to write a java app to use http_proxy variable? instead of programmatically setting http proxy and host in every app i will write.

  • Java looping through array - Optimization

    I've got some Java code that runs quite the expected way, but it's taking some amount of time -some seconds- even if the job is just looping through an array. The input file is a Fasta file as shown in the image below. The file I'm using is 2.9Mo, and there are some other Fasta file that can take up to 20Mo. And in the code im trying to loop through it by bunches of threes, e.g: AGC TTT TCA ... etc The code has no functional sens for now but what I want is to append each Amino Acid to it's equivalent bunch of Bases. Example : AGC - Ser / CUG Leu / ... etc So what's wrong with the code ? and Is there any way to do it better ? Any optimization ?     Hi there! I was looking for some opinions on the best remote method invocation practices when developing iPhone applications that communicate with Java (java EE) servers. Many iphone applications these days typically talk to a server back end. I typically prefer to write my servers in java using some Spring libraries. So far I have not found or stuck to a definitive practice for iphone-java server communication. What are some technical solutions and libraries that you have used to implement this kind of client-server communication? One thing I always keep in mind is that I want the communication protocols to be simple so that multiple platforms can be added for example, in future adding Android and possibly Blackberry clients, that can use the same protocol to talk to the server.

    Android SDK Manager complains "WARNING: Java not found in your path". Instead of using the information from Windows registry, the software tries to search Java in the default installation folders, and fails (I don't install software in program files because I don't like space characters in my paths). Of course I know how to modify the %PATH% environment variable. The question is — which Java does it need? After installing the latest JDK, I’ve got 4 distinct versions of java.exe file, in the following 4 folders: system32, jre6\bin, jdk1.6.0_26\bin, and jdk1.6.0_26\jre\bin. Size ranges from 145184 to 171808. All of them print version “1.6.0_26” when launched with the “-version” argument. The one in system32 has .exe version “6.0.250.6”, the rest of them is “6.0.260.3”. All 4 files are different (I’ve calculated the MD5 checksums). Q1. Which folder should I add to %PATH% to make the Android SDK happy? Q2. Why does Oracle build that many variants of java.exe of the same version for the same platform? Thanks in advance! P.S. I'm using Windows 7 SP1 x64 home premium, and downloaded the 64-bit version of JDK, jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe.

  • Tron: Legacy, 3D goggles, and embedded UA

    The 3D edition of Tron: Legacy opens with embedded user assistance. The film starts with an iconic white-on-black command-prompt message exhorting viewers to keep their 3D glasses on throughout. I can't quote it verbatim, and at the time of writing nor could anybody findable with 5 minutes of googling. But it was something like: "Although parts of the movie are 2D, it was shot in 3D, and glasses should be worn at all times. This is how it was intended to be viewed" Yeah - "intended". That part is verbatim. Wow. Now, I appreciate that even out of the small sub-set of readers who care a rat's ass for critical theory, few will be quite so gung-ho for the whole "death of the author" shtick as I tend to be. And yes, this is ergonomic rather than interpretive, but really - telling an audience how you expect them to watch a movie? That's up there with Big Steve's "you're holding it wrong" Even if it solves the problem, it's pretty arrogant. If anything, it's worse than RTFM. And if enough people are doing it wrong that you have to include the announcement, then maybe - just maybe - you've got a UX and/or design problem. Plus, current 3D glasses are like sitting in a darkened room, cosplaying the lovechild of Spider Jerusalem and Jarvis Cocker. Ok, so that observation was weirder than it was helpful; but seriously, nobody wants to wear the glasses if they don't have to. They ruin the visual experience of the non-3D sections, and personally, I find them pretty disruptive to the suspension of disbelief. This is an old, old, problem, and I'm carping on about it because Tron is enjoyable mass-market slush. It's easier for me to say "no, I can't just put some text on it. It's fundamentally broken, redesign it." in the middle of a small-ish, agile, software project than it would be for some beleaguered production assistant at the end of editing a $200 million movie. But lots of folks in software don't even get to do that. Way more people are going to see Tron, and be annoyed by this, than will ever read a technical communication blog. So hopefully, after two hours of being mildly annoyed, wanting to turn the brightness up, and slowly getting a headache, they'll realise something very, very important: you just can't document your way out of a shoddy UI.

    I have deployed an application using JBoss 4.2.2 on a 64-bit RHEL5 server. Since there are other JBoss servers, I had to change some port configurations so that there would be no conflicts when starting the server. So right now I'm using ports-01 from the sample-bindings.xml file that came in the docs/examples/binding-manager/samples directory.   • Jetty interprets JETTY_ARGS as file name

    I'm running Jetty (version "null 6.1.22") on Ubuntu 10.04. It's running fine until I need JSP support. According to several blog posts I need to set the JETTY_ARGS to OPTIONS=Server,jsp. However, if I put this into /etc/default/jetty: JETTY_ARGS=OPTIONS=Server,jsp and restart Jetty via /etc/init.d/jetty stop && /etc/init.d/jetty start, it reports success, but does not accept connections. I'm not sure.). This doesn't seem to make any sense to me, especially since that directory is entirely empty. I've verified this with several other Strings, not only OPTIONS=Server,jsp.
